on Wednesday June 21st 2023 at around 11:00 a.m. undercover New Mexico state police officers were out conducting a takedown operation on a wanted felon who was wanted for violating his probation along with several other felony warrants in the Los cruus area the undercover officers had attempted to pull the suspect over after locating him while he was driving his white Chevy Suburban however the supect refused to stop resulting in a Pursuit being initiated there you're hot now okay just making sure I'm hot I thought I pressed the button just to make sure but Mesa Drive we're on Mesa Drive now which is the outside desert Road next to uh what is this the Side Drive guys ising so many freaking there's a lot of bumps everywhere okay drive still going Southbound desert side still uh speeds are Road and a royal road as both vehicles came to a stop the suspect produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds at officers resulting in three Los crues officers firing back a bit shot fire can you um Crawford to crawl to them officer Garza was directing traffic when a dodged Challenger drove up wanting to get through officer Garza repeatedly told the driver he can't go through as it's an active scene but the driver still wanted to go through officer Garza then placed himself in front of the vehicle instructing the driver to leave before ultimately informing the driver that if he continued there would be consequences I'm warning now if you go any further than this I'm arresting you right now man I ain't going to pull up with this [ __ ] we just had a shooting and it's for your safety we're going to hold we're going to keep pulling back man we clear the whole car yet no pull it back pull it back Crawford was transported to the University Medical Center of Al Paso for treatment before being released into police custody on June 27th 2023 Crawford was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on charges of attempted first-degree murder time 2 aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon times three aggravated fleeing fallen in possession of a firearm and shooting at or from a vehicle according to court documents Crawford has several previous convictions along with felony convictions that date back to 1998 thankfully no officers or civilians were injured and Crawford is currently Behind Bars awaiting trial
