on Thursday August 31st 2023 at around 10:45 p.m. two beralo County deputies were out on patrol when they recognized a gold Lexus that had been reported stolen from Rio Rancho New Mexico the deputies conducted a felony traffic stop near the intersection of Edith and Osuna in Northern Albuquerque stop stop driver throw the keys out the window throw the keys out the window throw the keys out the window with your left hand open the door okay you're fine you're fine my I got the car Hey sir hey stay right there go walk towards them hey walk towards them no listen walk back towards them come back to my right now who else is in the car we'll you in a second okay um you want to through the car this way sir can you do me a favor can you just move this way real quick we're just going to just going to make sure there's nobody else in the car okay clear in the back all right it's clear I'm ma'am hi okay I'm Deputy Brown hi so I'm going to just advise you of your rights okay so you have the right to remain silent anything you say can will be used against you in a court of law you have the right to talk with a lawyer or have him or her present while you're being questioned if you cannot afford a to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish you can decide at any time to exercise your rights the driver was identified as 39-year-old Stephanie Mau Mau stated that she bought the car from a man named G or George a few days prior for around $11,000 but could not give an exact dollar amount so why why do you think we pulled you over cuz I started speeding are that car stolen I don't know I just bought I have the title to it you just bought it yeah I have the title in the car oh you do yeah I have the title in the car who' you buy it from um this guy well he goes by G you bought it from a guy named G yeah his real name is name is George okay um and I guess he got it from some kid I don't know I just got it like I said I have the title on the C when did you get it um like two days ago did you get a bill or anything I have the title to it okay but did you get a bill no I just have the registration how much did you buy it for um it came out to like $1,000 from George yeah how long ago that okay so you're saying you bought it how many days ago like two days ago a few days ago yeah and the registration or the the title is in the glove box in like a gray uh little thing uh-huh so if you just open up that compartment it or like that bag it has the title and the registration in it you know where George got it from um I don't know cuz he lives in real Rancho do you know George's last name um I don't not off hand um what's the you know an address of where he lives in um know he lives with a kid named Bobby and Rancho a white kid named Bobby okay he gave me his address he sent me his address on my phone okay can you describe George a tall uh stocky gangster looking dude U must beard real like thuggish he's not the nicest person is he part of a game you know um I know he did yeah I think he did time in prison in California or something okay do you know what game that is I don't know about any games where do you live I live up down where were you coming from I was coming from dropping off my daughter her stuff cuz she's going to the Drake concert in Las Vegas so I went to go take her clothes and stuff yeah yeah okay all righty um so two days ago yeah George how much did he say you bought it for uh about like almost 1,000 well what's an exact price cuz said almost 1,000 yeah cuz it was like eight something I'd given him that's all I could that's like a for you know okay did you guys do any sort of receipts or anything like that no how about messages through text or um he no I don't think he was texting my boyfriend but nothing like he's real sketchy like he's just George what's your boyfriend's name uh Jason Baka Jason Baka that something where does he live at oh he lives at me oh is there anything in that uh vehicle anything else that we should know about I don't think so no any drugs or I don't think so knives guns no I don't think so okay have you been arrested before yeah for what um like a DWI and then um last year uh or not last year like in 2001 I think it was was like a felony trafficking okay it when was the last the last time was the trafficking yeah okay and then just like for a warrant that was it okay and then it just got the warrant screw up I the car quick so I can talk to my partner oh no she's just saying she bought it from a guy in R Rancho named G um how much did you buy for almost 1,000 she said 800 something she couldn't give me exact price no bill of sell she said the title's in the in the glove compartment um but yeah that's about it man I mean she's she doesn't know she says G goes by George she doesn't know an address she might have an address in her phone where he lives kind of like that kind of story you know okay but everything on the vehicle's legit so what we can do is we can call the Aro now and be like hey um we found a car so we just going to understanding of like the back story on out here up guys uh how it became that uh your car got stolen St cuz there is Keys okay so let's go call her find out look she has possible oh okay R confirming on that cool all right Stephanie so when I when I first talked to you and I asked you why um you thought we pulled you over he said for speeding and then you said well maybe cuz the car is stolen what would give you that inclination that the car may be stolen because George is sketchy like that I know George because of my boyfriend that's my boyfriend's friend okay does he steal cars or what's this what's George's situation um George steals anything okay so he he's like typically like riding around in G rides yeah that's like what he that's his thing like he's a shady character and he does anything but does whatever you know what I mean I don't really care for him because he did six years in I guess California for uh uh sexual penetration to his a niece that was six years old so really I don't really care for him at all so I don't really want him around my kids you know yeah so um so if you had to if you had to get a hold of him right now how would you do that call him on my phone you have his number yeah okay but so when you got the car from from G did he say anything about the car like did he say like hey watch out if you get pulled over no he didn't he just said hey I got it from a homie that owed me some cash you're good it's all good I got the title and since you have the title it's all good okay did you I figured since it had the title this time it was good you know what I mean it wasn't as [ __ ] up as usually is with him you know right so I figured but you still had that belief like uh this car might and I haven't I haven't dri in it it's just like my daughter's going to Las Vegas to J concert and I need to take her clothes and stuff and I didn't have any other way so I shouldn't have been driving but like I said I need to get her stuff okay M um okay cool um is there and is there anything that is there anything else that you need from the car like your phone your wallet anything like that yeah my phones your phones phones how many phones three what they all look like iPhones they're all just iPhones are they any cases or anything uh yeah two pink cases one uh two of them work the other other one doesn't but I can give them to my dad if do you want the phones to go with your dad you want them to go with you can I get all my my things that are in the car just my things from that car to give to him yeah which stuff do you which which stuff do you want to go with just my phones and my little black wallet I think and my makeup I think is about it's mine in there okay all right um okay do would it be possible if I could smoke a cigarette yeah we'll let you smoke a cigarette once we get to the sub station okay okay I can't was my dad smoke H I can't smoke a cigarette no we got to get everything started so watch do me a favor just step back in the car real quick we're going to close the door okay okay maybe we can get G's number but I don't know how get yeah is there phones there's three that heard she wants a black ID wallet three phones and makeup stuff to go with her dad might other deputies on scene searched the vehicle and located pills and burnt foil inside hey and you said that there was there was fentanyl in here yeah it's on the hood car okay both pills were on the seat there's some burnt foil some lighters a straw was there okay oh hold up hell yeah I think yeah that's got to be something when the vehicle was reported stolen a firearm was reported to have been in the vehicle however after deputies searched it no firearm was located that that's a decent B too I got some rubbers man I'll grab it uh you want to grab a couple grab there's an empty one of these behind the a 15 on it is that perent D thing you guys are doing this has a two I don't know it's empty though it just has the residue so um I found this passeng seat defin need to St from you for sure you know I'm always down we could we could take it the empty like with that that way the RO doesn't yeah we just tag it grab it real quick the RO doesn't I got glov brother oh no yeah you finish your okay all right sorry empty it's around the passage the seat so you're not getting charged with the empty file you know but there's a number on it what does that mean maybe it's like a five on it or something like that I don't know what that means you don't know what the number means no I don't I'm sorry and then there's another vial and it also has a number on you don't know what the numbers are supposed to mean I don't I have no clue if I did I mean I would tell you okay sounds good thank you she said Mau was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of improper equipment driving while license is revoked receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle possession of a controlled substance times two possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence on October 31st 2023 the case was dismissed without prejudice however an exact reason for the dismissal was not listed
