I was getting ready to get an oil change. >> That's not an argument I'm going to make. Okay. >> The woman claimed she had left the items at the door and was only going to her car. Officers repeatedly ordered her to put the vehicle in park, turn it off, and step out so they could investigate. She delayed, argued, and continued trying to explain instead of complying. >> Pop out the car. You might want to roll your window up. Can I can I call somebody to tell them cuz my son is in surgery? >> Sure. >> Right now, hop out of the vehicle with your information, including your phone, and we can call them on the way in. Okay. If the faster we do this, faster you can get out of here. >> Okay. >> So, if we multitask, >> if we multitask, we can get this done faster. >> Okay. >> All right. So, let's park the car. NO, WE'RE PAST THAT. >> She repeatedly stated that her 4-year-old son had just undergone surgery and begged to make a phone call. Officers told her they would allow a call once she cooperated, but she continued resisting by rolling up the window and refusing to exit the vehicle. >> Please, please, can I call my son >> of your belt loop? >> Can I call my son, please? >> Want to get tased? >> Do you want to get tased? Yes or no? Yes or no? Yes or no? All my stuff. That's it. And you guys aren't letting me come. >> Let go of your belt loop. >> Please. >> Yeah. >> Get on the ground. Get on the ground now. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> You guys are doing all this cuz with the stuff inside. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why are you doing this? >> Because you are under arrest. Put your hands >> I didn't shoplift. >> Put your hands behind your back now or I'm going to tase you. >> I did not shoplift. >> I did not shop. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Can I get up now? >> Nope. We're still figuring this out. We just got to do it this way. Don't scratch me. >> Stop moving. >> You have your hands up. >> All right. Bend your knee. >> And then roll backwards. >> This way. Now tuck this hand up. >> Help me up. >> No. Stay sitting. >> Are you done? >> Yes. Can you help me up, please? >> Stay sitting for a minute. >> Got your taser cartridge? Yeah, I got it. >> We're at the tire center. >> Oh, so you don't need double cuffs. You're just being difficult. Okay. >> No, I do cuz this is a tissue shoulder right here. >> Please. I need to get to my son, please. >> No, that's not happening. You're going to seminal county jail. >> Huh? >> You're going to jail. >> Why am I going to jail? >> I'm not talking to you anymore. >> Huh? >> You keep asking why you're going to jail. You're under arrest for shoplifting. And you're going to the seminal county jail now. You have a resisting charge. >> That's mine. >> They saw me. It's yours. >> Um, >> hold up. She was broken out. I parked there. She was taking >> I did not go to >> um there was stuff that was inside and then that book bag apparently is also involved possibly. >> I did not go I don't understand. I I I can't help you that you don't understand. I've explained it to you several times. You're under arrest for shoplifting. You're going to jail. You're also being charged with resisting. >> All right. >> So, I'm done explaining that to you. You are going to the Semino County Jail. >> I'm not resisting. >> You were? >> I'm resisting because >> I gave you several lawful orders and you did not obey any of them >> and I left everything at the door to transport so I can just get paperwork. >> Yeah, I can do that. Yeah, let's do that. >> Can I please call my son? >> No. >> Hey, take that out of your hand. >> My son is 4 years old. >> That's too bad. >> You call him from the jail? >> Yeah, that's too bad. And call him from the jail. They give free calls there. >> We're going to stand you up. >> Count of three. 1 2 3. >> Maybe if you didn't fight him, they probably would have given you that call, but >> Oh, we tried. >> I wasn't trying. Please just call this number for me. My son. >> End of discussion. Not right now. Follow me. Let's go. >> No, we'll get your shoes later. We'll get your shoes later. >> Can I It's >> Face the car cuz you resist >> two right now. >> Spread your feet apart. >> Spread your feet. Spread them apart. >> Spread your feet. >> Get in the car. >> Can I please call my car right now? from the jail. >> They don't have security and all that. Please, I have your foot. >> Put your foot inside the car. >> Put your foot inside. >> Put your foot in the car, please. >> Yeah. Is that shoplifting or something else? >> Okay. >> I'm not I was just literally trying to make a call. That's all I was trying to do was make a call. I have a Do you want your mask son >> who just hugs for a drink? >> Please. Hey, >> where is your kid right now? >> Hold on one second. >> Hotel. >> With who? >> With my friend Vicki. >> Do you know Vickiy's number off the top of your head? >> What hotel is it? >> Why are you keep If you're on probation for shoplifting, girl, why you keep shoplifting? >> I wasn't trying to shoplift. >> You weren't trying to shoplift. What What do you call Even if let's say let's just say for giggles that you did that you didn't All right. Uh you you said you left everything at his feet and then walked away before point of sale. What do you call that? Even if it was before point of sale, what are we going to call that? Almost shoplifting. >> The woman was already on probation for prior shoplifting. She was charged with grand theft and resisting without violence. She later pleaded no contest to both charges and was sentenced to 24 months of probation. Let's take a look at how viewers reacted after watching that breathtaking situation. These cops allowed this thief to argue entirely too long. She abandons her son with a friend at a motel after his surgery. Already on probation for shoplifting to go shoplifting at Walmart, she made her own situation feel bad for her kid. Once officers have probable cause for shoplifting and give clear orders to exit a vehicle, continued refusal and physical resistance create a separate criminal charge. Claims of a family emergency, while emotional, do not legally excuse a failing to comply with lawful commands during an arrest. Next, we move on to an even more intense shoplifting case inside another grocery store. Why do some people believe that being homeless or down on their luck automatically gives them the right to walk out of a store with over $1,000 worth of unpaid merchandise? >> Well, so you're going to assault me. You're going to touch me without my permission. >> That's what that is. >> Legally do my job. Okay. >> You are legally going to assault me and touch me without my permission. >> Can you stand up for me? Stand up. Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Are you going to make us make you stand up? >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Don't touch me. You about to grow my >> Don't YOU STOP. >> Officers responded after loss prevention detained a woman who had concealed and attempted to leave with 1-53 and 59 worth of merchandise. The items included food, drinks, apparel, health, and beauty products, and a few electronics, goods consistent with someone claiming to be homeless. >> Good afternoon. >> Um, we do have a subject in custody right now. She's abandoned in the office. If I can I can take you over that way. >> Okay. >> Is this all this stuff? >> It's all of this. Yeah, >> all of this. >> It's a total of 105359. >> 1053,000. >> Yeah, 5359. >> Jesus. Okay. The last one was 700. >> Hello. What's up? What's up? >> So, what do we got? >> So, pretty much all that seen her select it all and just walk out without pain. >> Okay. All right. What's your name? >> Grace. >> Grace. All right. Grace, what's going on with all this stuff here? >> I'm really homeless. So, I tried to walk out just to at least have something to my name and be able to chill out. And I don't know, my phone just got broke. My wallet just got stolen. I came from a situation at my boyfriend's house. I tried to go to my mom's house. She ended up having everyone come to my room and steal from me. So, I headed down to Chicago with an old friend. Me and them ended up getting into a fight. So, now I'm here. I'm trying to make ends meet. I stank. All I wanted was panties and socks to begin with this [ __ ] But um I was I was going to put all that [ __ ] into suitcase and make my way. >> Okay. Do you have ID? >> No, sir. Like I said, my wallet was just stolen from me. >> Wallet was stolen. Did you report that? >> Uh what phone? >> Don't need a phone. You could walk into a police station. >> It's a photocopy ID. I wish I wish I had more to my name to have my wallet be valuable, honestly. >> Okay. The woman identified herself as Grace, age 25. She told officers her wallet and phone had been stolen. She had been in fights with her boyfriend and others and she was simply trying to make ends meet. She had no identification. >> So, it's a female um down on her luck. Had a bunch of stuff stolen from her fighting whatever with a boyfriend. Uh they got a receipt of over $1,000 worth, but it's like a whole bunch of just like food items, uh drinks, just miscellaneous stuff that would literally be for a homeless person. Looks like a mat backpack. Uh all right. What uh you guys seen her before? >> No, okay. Um, I just called my sergeant and just wanted to make sure. Uh, do you guys are you guys okay with a local ordinance? >> Um, I would be just the fact that whenever it's a huge amount like this, they want us to press charges like amount. >> Okay. >> Isn't 300 bucks. >> My sergeant's pushing for given the circumstances. Homeless. You guys got the stuff back. >> Uh, just given the circumstances. That's what I told him over the phone. >> Okay. >> She's cooperative, but obviously [music] >> up to you guys. I'm just letting you know what what he's suggesting we do. >> Again, just running everything by you, letting you know what the sergeant says and thinks. >> You okay with that? Okay, we'll >> do that. I'll see what she says. Uh, >> got with info. Most everything was like food and like Yeah. Like >> at first the officer stayed calm trying to give her a chance, but within minutes everything started to spiral out of control. >> What all were you buying today? >> Nothing, as you can see. >> I mean, it's a lot of it's a lot of things. >> Yeah, I was going in there. >> Bunch of apparel. Bunch of electronics. >> A bunch of electronics. Let me see that real quick >> right here because I I ain't touch mother. Y'all going to try to some [ __ ] up in my mother. >> Grace. Grace, don't get loud. All right. No, because at the end of the day, >> don't get loud. All right, listen to what he has to say. >> I'm not trying to push authority on me. I'm not pushing authority. >> You don't try to make your voice louder than mine when you try to start dominant. You don't You're not I'm not in your Okay. >> I'm talking the same tone as I did when I first came in here. Okay. >> Everything is categorized. Apparel, electronics, three items, groceries, health and beauty, home, stationery, and office supplies. and toys. Okay. No need to get >> local ordinance is a ticket basically in Rosemont as opposed to you being charged criminally through the courts. All right. This is a felony amount. Not trying to insert dominance. You about to grow my [ __ ] >> Don't you touch >> Stop it. STOP IT. >> HEY, YOU'RE TOUCHING MY BOOB. HE'S TRYING TO GRAB IT. HE'S TRYING TO GRAB ME. STOP. STOP. STOP. LET ME OUT. [screaming] LET ME OUT. LET ME GET HER. >> Any injuries? >> I'm good. >> YOU SLAP ME IN MY FACE WITH YOUR COUGH, YOU PIGS. >> GRACE, are you injured at all? Yes. >> All right, we'll call the medics. >> Calm down. [screaming] >> Calm the off of me. You >> calm down. >> YOU BUNCH OF >> CALM DOWN. Calm down. >> You got my one cuff. >> Calm down. >> I can't adjust. >> WHEN YOU CALM DOWN, >> WHEN YOU calm down, I can death on you. I wish you clearly. I put death on. >> I can adjust it. All right. >> Oh my god. [laughter] [screaming] >> Grace, breathe. Grace, >> calm down. Calm down through your nose and out your mouth. Grace, my sister, >> calm down. We'll grab them. [laughter] We'll grab them. OKAY. [screaming] >> Take a deep breath. >> Please, please strike these evil men down. [laughter] Lord, please. Please help me. Please help. [laughter] You're okay. Just take a breath. >> You got to calm down. Okay. You have to calm down. >> I [laughter] got the RIGHT to he took them in. >> Stop. Everything. Okay. >> She cried and spoke in panic, her emotions spiraling further despite the officer's attempts to calm her down. >> We got to pay. SHE LISTEN TO US. >> LET'S GET her one arm at a time. >> Lift up. Lift up. >> There you go. Okay. Relax for one second. Just relax for one second. Okay. Just relax. >> All right. Can you walk over to the cat? >> We're going to get him. We're going to get him. Just take a seat. Seat right here. Okay. >> All right. Can you stretch out your legs for me? >> Thank you. >> Okay. Sit back. It's okay. >> Here, I'm going to borrow that leg really quick. >> Just relax. Relax a little bit. It's okay. >> Here, just some just some straps for safety. I need a girl. >> We don't We don't have a woman paramedic available right now. Okay. >> Hey, what's your name? >> I need a girl. I need a girl. We don't have a female >> paramegan. >> So where did who got struck where? >> Uh didn't really I I don't think I really got struck. >> She just kind of slammed me backwards. She pushed her leg up totally the wall. But >> I don't think she really struck me or anything. >> I'm trying to see if we need to challenge her. >> Yeah. If anything, I'm I would think resisting at most didn't break. >> Grace was arrested and charged with felony theft, resisting arrest and obstruction. Here are the most attention-grabbing comments from the online community regarding this incident. She didn't deserve any breaks with that attitude. I don't care if you are homeless. She took way too much stuff to say she only took basics. Being homeless or experiencing hardship does not create a legal right to steal. When the value of stolen merchandise reaches the felony threshold, criminal charges are likely even if the items are recovered. Next, another Target shoplifting case where poor decisions send things even further out of control. What happens when a repeat shoplifter is recognized the moment she walks into Target and still tries to leave with more than $2,400 in unpaid merchandise? On March 5th, the 48-year-old woman walked into a Target store, unaware that she was already on the security team's radar from the moment she entered. Loss Prevention recognized her from a prior incident at the Hilton Head location. For nearly 30 minutes, cameras tracked her every move, from selecting jewelry and gaming headsets to carefully concealing them inside a paid for lamp box. Officers patiently waited until she passed every point of sale, ensuring the theft was complete before stepping in, >> pushing uh loading her card up, pushing out um at the Hilton Head store. >> So, we recognized her when she came in. >> Yeah. >> And she already selected jewelries, a gaming headset. She put inside a container. She's selecting a few more things. >> Mhm. >> So, she's going to end up trying to push out most likely. Um, one of our co-workers says she knows her from back in the day and apparently in >> Evet, >> huh? >> Evie set the heavy female. >> No, no, no. She's slender. >> The lady. Okay. >> Yeah, she she doesn't look that strong. You can probably take it. >> No, no, no, no. I know. I know somebody in the past, but >> No, she's a white woman, like in her mid40s. Okay. >> On gray sweatshirt, black pants. >> I like that outfit, but not her. Um, but she's u, my buddy's going to let me know when she's like headed out cuz if she >> for some weird reason ends up paying for anything, I don't want to stop her, you know, unlock like >> Right. Right. But but it's just a store. We just go by the store policy cuz once if you read a code section [sighs] pertaining to shoplifting >> Mhm. >> Right. Once the person um canceal >> Mhm. >> Once the person conceal you know that's it. That's shoplifting right there. >> Yeah. But I know y'all policy she must pass >> all points of sale. >> Points of sale. So that y'all got your own law then y'all got y'all. >> Right. Right. Policy and law is obviously way different. Um apparently the lady that shoplifting back in November grabbed her exhusband's girlfriend and tried to put her in her car. What? Take her. I don't know if she was trying to kidnap her. Apparently she tried to handcuff her. I don't know the the whole details of the story, but apparently she tried to grab her ex-husband new girlfriend and try to anchor her, put her in her car. >> Well, she put back up. No, she's grabbing more stuff. >> It's a felony. >> Yeah. Maybe reach a fel if we reach 500, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Some of these people that we stopped, they're like, "What? That's a felony?" I thought it was a,000 >> over five >> in Georgia. Yeah. 500. I think in California it's like a,000 >> 1500 the cell phone number increased. >> When stopped at the exit, the woman quickly panicked and began pleading. But with clear surveillance footage capable of zooming in on fine details, including her credit card, any explanations quickly fell apart. >> Hi. >> Hey, man. How's it going? >> Good. >> You know, we're going to detain you for shoplifting here. So, you're not going anywhere, but we're just going to check your box here. >> Sorry, you don't have to detain me. >> I'll take you to the AP office. Follow me, man. Just follow him, please. >> You I don't need to be detained. >> Yes, ma'am. You do. Please follow him. >> Please don't do this to me. >> Ma'am, no one's doing this to you, but you need to follow him that way. >> Please. >> It's either you come with us without cuffs or with cuffs. >> I have a dog at home. >> That's fine. With or without cuffs. The choice is yours. >> Are you taking me to jail? >> You're being detained right now. You can be detained with or without cuffs. >> Are you taking me to jail? >> I see you in camera. You think you detained? >> All right. You don't have to. No, he can he can touch you. He can touch you. >> I'm going to ring up all and I'll get you to line. This be >> what? >> Can I just pay for the merchandise? >> It's too late now. >> I have a dog. I don't live with anybody and I have a dog at home that's going to have nobody to take care of him. >> Probably should have thought of that beforehand. I mean, don't >> I realize that. Am I being arrested? >> We don't know yet. >> Do you have an ID? >> Right now you're detained right now. >> You have an ID? >> I'm sorry. >> You have an ID? Driver's license? >> No. >> No. >> So, you driving without license? >> What's that? >> So, you were driving without a license? >> I don't have it on me. It's at home. >> So, you drive a license then. >> Huh? What's your What's your name? I have to figure out something to do with my dog. >> There's no way you can just sight me. >> No. No. That's not the way it works, man. I'm sorry, but that's not the way it works. >> During the evidence check, officers confirmed the total value of the merchandise was around $2,400. In Georgia, anything over $500 qualifies as a felony. In fact, the printer ink hidden inside the box alone was enough to cross that threshold. >> You see all this stuff? You should have think about it. This is a huge store. They got cameras everywhere. All right? And whatever you are, whatever you took, they seen in camera. And whatever you paid for, they could tell whatever you paid for. All right? You see what I'm saying? Yeah. So, that's pretty much a poor decision on your side. Very poor decision. Very poor decision. all these cameras here and they got their property, they got their merchandise, their items inside the store and you it doesn't matter what it is. And if you feel like you want to skip scan or whatever you want to do what I want, >> they could I'm saying even if you skip scan, skip scan mean you're pretending like you're paying for an item. >> Okay. >> Okay. They could tell you exactly their video camera could zoom in on you. They could zoom right in on your on your phone, your credit card to see exactly what you're doing. Okay. >> Yeah. There's nothing. We're going to get a total. They're getting a total right now for all the ink. Um, it's definitely over the amount. So, I'm not I I don't send you. I don't do any of that. But the amount of ink that you had is probably over $500 just for today plus what you have on you already. So, >> this has to be an arrest situation. uh with this amount. Yeah. Um right now you're sitting at $2,400 for what you took. >> But that's why I'm asking doesn't have to be under arrest. >> Yes. Yes, ma'am. >> Yeah, >> it does. >> Does this mean that they'll be keeping me overnight or >> I'm not sure. Um I'm not sure how Chhatt County does their jail. Um could be a couple hours. I don't know. Um, usually it's a couple hours with like shopliftings and stuff from what I've seen, but I can't like guarantee you anything. >> What about my car? Is my car okay to stay here? >> Yeah, it is. >> So, this is a felony. >> I I I can't I >> So, you see a judge first, then they will decide. >> I thought you said today. >> We No. >> No. I said that's up to the judge. That's what the judge is going to decide in the courts and all Yeah, they they will decide all. >> We don't decide that. So, >> but with it being this time of day, it's not going to get decided today. >> No, no, no. >> So, it's a guarantee I'm there overnight. >> Yeah. Like I said, we we we like I said, based on my knowledge, they you see a judge like in the morning or whatever. >> Yeah. Okay. I'm going to take some pictures. >> I don't want to give her information. It's wrong, misleading information. You understand what I'm saying? >> I I do. >> There's zero chance I could get out today. Like I said, maybe you go there, they say, "Hey, time for you to go to see the judge." I don't know. >> Hi, Miss Hill. To handcuff you real quick. >> Take your bag off here. >> Okay. >> What's that receipt there? Is that for your refund? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I don't know if you put it in there, but you put your arms like that. In the end, Amanda was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Georgia's repeat offender law. Her prior criminal history, combined with fleeing and violating a trespass ban, led the court to impose the maximum sentence allowed. You know what I do to make sure my dog is taken care of? Before I leave, I make sure he has food and water. And then while I'm away, I don't commit a felony. She says, "Please don't do this to me." No, lady, you did this to yourself. Running, lying, or ignoring warnings doesn't make a situation easier. It only stacks more charges and drives the consequences even higher. Next, we move on to another case where a shoplifter believes they could outsmart police only for everything to spiral out of control in just minutes. What happens when a pregnant woman is caught trying to sneak out the back door of Walmart with stolen baby clothes and cleaning supplies and then decides to fight the officers instead of cooperating? >> A third hobbles. I got legs. [screaming] Leg restraints. Leg restraints. >> Be kicking like that. I would. Otherwise, it's going to be right here. >> On February 29th, a shoplifting incident at a Walmart in Washington quickly escalated when the suspect attempted to exit through a back door and was stopped by police. She then cited being 4 months pregnant and claimed the baby items, cleaning supplies, and toothbrushes weren't serious enough to warrant an arrest. >> Arrest, ma'am. >> Yeah. Yeah, you are. I have four months pregnant. Stop >> what? No. >> Stop looking. It's not that serious. Stop. >> Okay. Well, stop. >> Are you with her? >> No. This is ridiculous. Can you drop these, please? Hey, stop resisting. You got her arm. I'll just give you a cuff. >> I don't want to do that. >> Stop resisting. Okay, please stop. >> I'm not resisting. >> Well, you just sounds like you aren't complying. >> There we go. >> We're not trying to hurt you, but you're resisting. No, we're not. >> Precisely what you're doing. >> No, you just stole things and you don't want to cooperate. Okay. >> Sorry. WHY ARE YOU BENDING MY ARM? >> I'M NOT TRYING TO. >> RELAX, MAN. >> WHY ARE YOU BENDING IT? >> OKAY, YOU CAN CALM down now. >> We're good. >> Did you get Thanks, man. >> Despite repeatedly saying she was in pain and accusing officers of using excessive force, the suspect continued to resist while being restrained. Officers ultimately used leg restraints to control her behavior and ensure safety during transport. >> It's mine. Walker back there. My arm hurts. Get off. I have nowhere to run. >> Y'all want to fight me so bad. Do it. Yes. Yes. [screaming] BREAK IT. BREAK IT. What is the point in hurting you if you're going to hurt me? >> I CANNOT WALK THE CAR LIKE THAT AND I WON'T. SO JUST BREAK IT. >> MY car's front. >> My car's on the side. I know. >> Walk me correctly or I'm not going. >> Not your choice. WHY ARE YOU BENDING ME LIKE THAT? THAT'S NOT NECESSARY. >> Does this look like a to you? >> Let me go. Let's go to the car. She's way too like we should just put her in my car. >> I don't know why we're walking all over. >> I >> WHY ARE YOU HOLDING? >> I FIGURED YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO TRY AND PUT HER in a stair. >> Yeah, I want you to calm down, but nice. >> Does uh do you have evidence bags in the back? >> I think so. >> Perfect. Can you grab me one, please? >> All right. You got a grip for me? I'm going to put gloves on. >> Can you not hold my arm like that? >> You going to come down? >> Yeah. >> But if you pull away like that, I'm about to go right back to it. Okay. Do >> you have anything in your pocket and a stick be uh pokey or hurt me? >> No. What a real piece of [ __ ] Stealing cleaning supplies and baby clothes. What a [ __ ] criminal. Why do you stand? >> Was it? >> Okay. >> Last I checked, y'all weren't allowed to do that if you're a male. >> Wait, where did you check that? >> Can she search me? Cuz I don't want you touching me. I'm Please stop touching me. >> Everything's on the same. That >> sounds fine to me. You go with that? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Can you put my vape in with my belongings, please? That is mine. I paid for it. I want it back when all this is said and done. Thank you. Here you go. >> Yeah. Appreciate it. Um there >> no you want me to cut the site. >> Yeah. I'll take her. They'll take her. >> They'll take her. I'll call for you. >> Yeah. If you want to call and take and I'll work on the trespass >> and then um I >> already got the photo and the stuff with just they I just need to get his statement. >> I'll get his statement site. Send it to school and I'll FOLLOW >> STOP. >> I'm never GOING TO SEE MY AGAIN. >> NO, >> she's not hitting her head. I thought she wasn't kidding. >> Yeah, >> she was a normal >> adult. I put in hobbles >> or leg restraints. Leg restraints. Yeah, [screaming] >> she's going to be kicking like that. I would. Otherwise, it's going to BE RIGHT HERE. >> [screaming] >> THAT'S GOING TO BE A LOT. YEAH, LET'S DO IT. >> In a moment of distress, the suspect offered multiple personal reasons to justify her actions and expressed concerns about her health and being held in custody. [screaming] >> I JUST >> YEAH, I got >> Where is your Where's your house at? like I'm going to tell you. >> Okay. Well, I need to know for the citation. >> I'm homeless. >> Okay. >> So, how are you going home to a baby if you're homeless? >> She's with her father. >> Okay, then she's she's somewhere safe. >> No, actually, she's not. >> Okay. He's a biological father. Okay. So, if you're going to I got real quick, if you're going to keep continue to kick that kind of stuff, I'm going to put you into leg restraints. Okay. >> Do it. So otherwise, just relax and we'll go up to jail and it'll be really quick and easy. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm never going to see my again. What are you talking about? >> It's a basic shoplift. If you would have complied with us from the very beginning, I'd have probably issued >> how [ __ ] works for black people. When we get put in handcuffs, are you going to be Are you going to continue to kick my my >> I want to go home and see my month old. >> Okay. Well, that's not an option right now. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to ask that you relax and don't kick my seat cuz if you do, I'm going to have to be forced to place you under leg restraints to prevent you from possibly injuring yourself >> before. That does not bother me. >> Okay. I'm just letting you know >> I've been in neck restraints. >> Okay. >> Go stople. Go stop someone who's really bad and evil. I'm getting things for my still stealing. Okay. Which is still a crime. All right. It's not a victimous crime. >> Some stolen. >> Let's get started. >> So, are we going to continue to kick my chair? >> No. >> Okay. I appreciate that. >> What am I in trouble for? Do I need a lawyer? >> You're under arrest for theft third and resisting. >> So, what happened? So, from here, I will be booking you into jail where you'll be able to see a judge uh tomorrow, and you'll have a bail amount to get out of get out of jail. >> Well, I don't have bail. I don't have money. I can't even call my baby dad. I'm going to chew through my Idol. I am not a mentally stable person. You don't even know who you have in the back of your car right now. And I'm also on methadone. So I will sit here and withdraw as >> they have that available at the jail. >> Do a day in for that. I have a uncle >> and he doesn't even know where I'm at. So what happens if I don't get bail? I just sit in jail >> until you see a judge tomorrow. >> I'm going to myself. So let him know that >> I will because I'm not sitting in jail when I have a >> period. >> Babe, you >> I'm in the back of a cop car and I'm going to jail cuz I'm at Walmart and I got caught stealing. >> What? >> I am in a cop car. I am handcuffed. I am going to jail because I got caught shoplifting. >> Where? Which ones? >> It doesn't matter. The Walmart. >> No. What's the jail? >> I don't know. >> Should be going to score, sir. Up in De Mo. >> Thank you. Um All right. Um All right. Thank you. >> All right. All right. Okay. Um Yes. Um, >> he said I have to stay tonight and I have to talk to a judge tomorrow and if I don't get bail, I'm >> How much do you know? How much your bail is here? >> I don't know. >> It's going to be $2,000. >> Or or >> bondsman. Yeah. >> Uh, thank you. All right. Uh, thank you. All right. Okay. Thank you very much. All right. >> Where is Amari? Is she okay? >> He'll be okay. Just let me just It'll be all right. Okay. Thank you for calling me. I just Yeah. Let me go ahead and get Let me do my guys. >> Love you. >> The incident concluded after the suspect made a brief call to a family member before being transported to Score Jail. What began as a single incident resulted in two formal charges, a projected $2,000 bond, and a three-year ban from Walmart. baby has a 0.01% chance of having a normal happy life. If you don't want to sit in jail, then don't shoplift. The story shows how the line between a small mistake and serious consequences can be thin. When emotions override judgment, stopping early and handling the situation calmly is often the best way to avoid lasting fallout. Next, a decision that seems simple at first quickly leads to unexpected consequences. What happens when a gas station employee steals cash from the register on camera and then shows up for her next shift? >> You're ready. >> You're ready. Oh, sorry. >> Oh, you're fine. >> On July 6th, a gas station manager noticed irregularities in the financial reports. After reviewing CCTV footage from the night before, they were stunned to see a female employee, Miss McDonald, making suspicious hand movements at the register. >> And is that employee fired now? >> No, she's supposed to come in at 11. >> Um, what's her name? >> Um, but her real name is um Oari. >> This was yesterday. >> Yes. >> About what time? happened around 9:57 p.m. >> Surveillance footage captured the incident at approximately 9:57 p.m. The cashier removed cash from the drawer but failed to deposit the full amount according to procedure. Instead, she quietly kept part of the cash while the system only reflected a legitimate deposit enough to bypass internal controls. $100 bill >> $200 bills. >> She only takes a hundred, but she tries to hide it. >> So, there's $200 bills there and $2 bills. I hope you can see it. >> There's two. >> Where does she hide it at? >> She's um got it in her either her hand or her pocket right now. So, it's in her pocket right now, but then she'll remove it. And then she'll put a $100 bill. So it's in her hand right now. She'll put a $100 bill in her apron pocket up here and only take $100 and $102 back out to do a save profit. >> So she took a $100. >> Yeah. >> But she took 202 out originally. >> So I don't know if you just seen it, but she just pocketed it right there. >> Yeah. So there's $100 bills going into the pocket. >> Yeah. >> Only $102 coming back out when she had 202 originally. And then she does what they call a safe drop for 240, but we actually get that $100 bill back. >> We just go to that back there. Yeah. Our little stock room. >> But you realize there's cameras in here. It seems like something pretty petty to go to. >> And then I assume y'all would like to press charges for that. >> Oh. >> Okay. She has a little bit of history with us, so I'm going to leave. See if she comes back. If she comes back, I guess have her work like she normally does if y'all want her to press charges and then just call us back and then we'll come and arrest her and then go from there. And if y'all want to bar after that or fire or whatever it is, y'all can do that. If y'all don't wish to fire or I'm sorry, if y'all don't wish to press charges, we can always come here and bar and make sure she can't come back. Kind of go from there. It's really up to y'all. So, >> so my next question would be is the first time we've caught her on camera. Um, but after talking to the district manager there, some shortages when she's worked here. So, that once we start >> Yeah, it'd be later. So, I I actually just talked to the lieutenant over property crimes cuz I was asking him and he was saying if it was happening over a certain amount of time, you probably hold off on the arrest and wait until um wait until you have everything taken care of. Like make sure we have it all on there. But if there's something that's recent like last night he was saying and cuz my thing was I was going to go ahead and arrest her if y'all wanted to press charges. >> So I would go if if she showed up. But I assume that if she sees me out here, she she might not. She wouldn't. There's a couple a little bit of history with them. And I noticed every now and then if they're a little if they feel guilty stuff in the store, she wouldn't. And she should be here with your >> And then uh what I was going to do is just going to go down the street a little bit and see if she'll she'll get here. And then once she's here, we can come car. >> Silver car. Yeah. I have I have her in the I think I it's not the same hair, her driver's license photo, but >> she got she got her hair on her head. Hold on. And then so it was but $100 t or $22 were taken out of the register and then $100 put in her pocket >> and then she put the $102 back for that drop. >> Right. >> Okay. And then um cool. That's all I need for that. And then if she does come back I would like I said I was just going to go over the street right start working on the report and then if she comes back just give us a call and say she's here have an officer send out because they're going to send two of us for that. So that's when she takes $200 bills. >> $200 bills and a $2 bill. >> Okay. >> So they're in the same far left drawer. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> And then she What What is that that she puts under it? Is that the $100 bill? >> Yep. So there's a 100 100 and then $2 bill on top. And then she is folding it up. >> What did she hide behind the phone? >> That I don't know. if you don't mind backing up there because I looks like it was three bills that she had and then one was behind her phone. >> But y'all are $100 short, you said. >> I see what you're saying. Yeah, we're actually $13 short. >> She put a $100 bill behind her phone is what it looks like cuz I think it's that top one here. >> Yeah. Well, it looked like she was just putting it over there. I don't know why, but that put it looked like Oh, no. Okay. It looked like she put it behind her phone, but she didn't. You got you got >> Can you put your phone down for a second for me? >> Okay. So, uh, you stole yesterday $100 bill. >> I did not steal >> and they want to report it. So, right now you are being arrested for that. >> Can you be able to at the jail? >> I did not steal. Oh my god. >> Hey, I'm being arrested. >> Okay. Is that all the stuff you need? Is it just this bag? >> Okay. And this your keys? This all your stuff? >> This? Is this yours or this? >> No, that's mine. >> Okay. >> No, >> I'm going to get this. >> No, not right now. >> I'll be right back. If you'all want to come out and let her know she's barred. >> I did not. >> I didn't. Still a $100 deal. >> You want to take a seat right there for me? Just one second. I'll talk to you in just a second. >> Okay. >> I'm 1095. You can disregard the other units. I'm going to ask her a few questions real fast and I'll come over there. So, just one if you want to just wait out here. It should be pretty quick. All right. I'm going to read you s something. Okay. You're right. Remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against the court of law. You have the right to Are you willing to answer any questions without an attorney present? >> You don't want to? >> I didn't want to ask. I got I was just a yes or no. They have it on video in there. So, okay. Right back. Okay. Um I was going to see if she'll talk to me about it cuz she's saying she didn't do it and then I told her she's on video and she said that she didn't want to talk to me. Um do you want to fire her? I guess cuz this has happened before and people aren't told they're fired so they come back to work after they're barred. >> Yep. >> So just you have to let her know that she is fired and then however long you'all want to bar. Oh, I don't know how long any bar for. >> Um, we go usually up to two years, but I I've seen a couple weeks, but >> two years. >> Two years. Okay. If you want Have you ever bred anybody before? I >> have not. >> Okay. So, literally all you have to say is you're barred for 2 years. And that's literally it. So, if you want to let her know that she's fired as well, you say, "Hey, you're fired." Or, you know, whatever y'all say for that, and just at the end say, "You're barred for 2 years." Gotcha. >> A key piece of evidence came from a receipt after her shift ended. Just minutes after clocking out, she appeared at a restaurant and paid with a large denomination bill. The timing and amount matched the missing cash, directly linking the purchase to the earlier incident. >> Does she So, they borrowed for 2 years. I don't know what else you'all want to do. Do you want to give her a case number? I left it in there. Was she the district manager for all of them? >> Huh? >> She the district manager for all of them? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. She stole a $100 bill yesterday or last night about 9:00. They have it on camera in there. Ah, probably what she used. Went to Crystal's used a $100 cash. 100 >> $100 bill. Yeah. Uh there's a receipt here. I'll take a picture of it and put an evidence with it. But she uh used $100 yesterday at 1:14 a.m. Okay. And then got changed back. So, you want to sit with her for a second? I'm going to go inside. >> Yesterday was it? >> Yeah. last night at 9 uh 9:57. They have it on camera. They weren't able to um Oh, there you go. >> Safety on it. >> There it is. >> They weren't able to um >> Huh. >> They weren't able to save the photo of it or save the video. It's too big to send and my phone won't do it. I took a video of it on my my camera and they said they were going to try to get a disc, but they didn't know how to do it inside. >> Okay. Can we get this monkey? >> Uh, I think she had it in here. I think it was left on the the counter cuz I just checked her bag and there wasn't anything in there. Oh, I'm sorry. >> Was it key on the counter? That's about key on the counter. >> That's what was beside it. >> Oh, no. That's That was already >> So, I checked her. There was no key. I didn't see any keys out there, but I can check again. >> Is that her apron? >> Yes. >> Apron that she had. And then uh she did uh what time did she get off yesterday or did go on break or anything? >> We didn't have break to dinner. >> She worked at 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. too >> to 1:00 a.m. >> Yeah. >> Okay. At like 1:13 she went to Crystal, used a $100 bill to get food. >> You said $100 cuz she has the cash in there. But it'll go in the evidence with me. And then uh >> You don't have the key? >> I didn't see a key, but when I get to jail, they're going to search a little better. And then if I if I find a key, I'll bring it back by and go from there. I gave you all the case number >> and then also the officer that's outside um is on the phone with the the district manager to let them know so they can try to get the video cuz he knows who she is, I guess. >> Thank you. >> So, they're going to try to come help the video as well. So, >> thank y'all. >> Appreciate y'all. Thank you. >> 67 central. I have an aimed dead birth. Um, she got off last night at 1 and then the receipt in there is at Crystal at 113. She used $100 cash. >> That's what I told him. I was like >> HR like got I told him it was like district manager or something is known new. >> So, uh, apparently she might have a key, but I don't see it. And then >> Okay. >> So, cool. Appreciate you. >> Hey, be careful of >> a wild hog. >> It's getting hot right now. >> All right. Sorry. IT instructor, sir. >> So, >> bye. >> See you. >> 367 central. I'm in route to 600. One female. Mileage 5970. >> Let me help you. >> I got one female. >> You have a male. >> A female. >> Okay. Uh, some dude with a really small butt. Can you come over for a second? I got to get some cash out. I'd like another person to be here when I do it. I have my camera on, but if you want to cut yours on, that'd be great. >> Sure. >> I'm just going to put it all on this and then I'll go to evidence and pissed in there. >> Are they pissed in there? >> Are they mad? >> No. >> I'm hot, by the way. >> Oh, they're coming with another one. Ernest, I've been looking for help. >> Um, this is $84. should just be 84 84 90 20 40 60 802 There's more than that. Yeah, this was a different pile. >> So that's 40 20 40 60 80 81 82 83 84. I don't see too much change in there. I don't know if there's 90 cents worth of change. This was 11 12. It's already in here. When did she take it? >> Last night at 9:57. >> Ah, I have it on camera and she pulled up as I was. >> Did she admit to it? >> Nope. I read a Miranda to see if she wanted to talk. She said she didn't want to talk after I told her. I was like, she's like, "I didn't say anything." I was like, "Were you will you talk to me about it?" She said, "No." And they're now we're going to go over to this door over here. >> Let me get contact. >> Yeah. Yeah, you'll be able to get that. I have it uh I have it in here and then they'll take out your property and uh count the money and stuff with you and then uh in just a second they'll let you in. But um and then if you have to like take your medication and stuff like that, they'll be able to give you that as well. >> You got people coming in side three of us. >> Well, I waited 30 minutes in here earlier. I waited out there 30 minutes for them to come open up. wouldn't be O. >> Um, depending on what previous charges are or if you've been convicted of anything. Um, you probably will be O bond. It'll still take a couple hours just cuz they got to fingerprint you and stuff. Um, but you'll be out of those thankfully cuz I know those are uncomfortable. >> Got to be out of my house by Thursday. >> By Thursday, you should be by out by Thursday. >> You ever done something so stupid? I've been on probation before before I did this. >> Like I can't either. >> It happens. You know, they got a they got a business to run. So, I mean, that's the kind of position they're put in. They have to do act on it. And it's not them that want to do it. It's management and everything like above them. There's certain rules they got to do. So, I'm not >> I'm bad at myself. Well, maybe it's just taking it as like a learning experience. So, you still got your D day in court. You can kind of go from there. And like I said, it's a $100 theft, misdemeanor theft. So, I'll let you know, man. >> What's up, man? >> It's a nice little outfit. >> Yeah. >> I bet. >> The consequences followed immediately. Miss McDonald was terminated on the spot and issued a 2-year ban from the gas station. The case concluded with her being transported to jail and charged with theft by taking leaving behind a permanent legal mark. I cannot imagine stealing from my job and then returning the next day like everything is okay. If you're already struggling to make it, don't make matters worse by stealing from the place that gave you a chance to improve your situation. Employee theft captured on surveillance cameras frequently results in immediate arrest when the suspect returns to the workplace. Even relatively small amounts can lead to criminal charges, termination, and a formal trespass ban. Denying the act after being shown video evidence rarely changes the outcome and may limit opportunities for leniency. Up next, another case unfolds where a moment of impulsive behavior pushes a situation far beyond control. What happens when a shopper pays for food with EBT but walks toward the exit with a backpack full of unpaid merchandise? >> Did you pay for it? >> No, you did. No paper. >> Put your Put your drink in there. >> Why? >> Take this off. >> August 2nd, a carefully planned theft unfolded at a Target store when a woman named Robin attempted to use her EBT card to conceal her actions. That plan quickly unraveled after she passed every point of sale and was stopped by police at the exit. >> Hi there, ma'am. Can you wait right here with us? Okay. So, it was brought to our attention. What's your name? >> Robin. >> Robin, what's your last name? Robin. Okay. Um, do you happen to have an ID on you? >> I don't. >> No ID. >> Okay. What's your uh what's your date of birth? >> No. And you said it's Robin. >> Okay. So, it was brought to our attention that you purchased um food, but you had other items that you were leaving with. >> I wasn't leaving. I hadn't walked out the store yet. >> Cuz you saw us. >> No. on >> camera. That's what it looks like. >> Well, that's not what happened. >> Okay. It doesn't look like the Red Bull is on here either. >> Mhm. I scanned the Red Bull. >> Do you have your receipt? I know I scanned the Red Bull. That was the first thing I scanned. >> Okay. He had a different another receipt, too, that had printed. I guess it printed out two different times. Can I see your receipt? >> Okay. And you used the food stamp. >> Yeah. Okay. >> The encounter between Robin and law enforcement turned into a heated argument filled with conflicting excuses. She repeatedly claimed she was looking for the restroom, stopping by Starbucks, or heading to guest services to return items. >> Thing is is that uh you had already passed all the points of sale before exiting the store. You understand that? >> I went to use the bathroom. >> I went to go use >> That's not what it looks like on the camera. >> Well, you can look. I went into the bathroom. I went to use the bathroom. >> So, here's the thing, Robin. >> Um, you runner. >> Get all your information and runner. You don't have an ID on you at all? >> No. >> Is your information going to come back or are you >> are you keeping that from me? >> No, it was going to come back >> with that date of birth. >> Yes. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Why would you go to customer service? That means something because they need something. >> You need a return system. >> Okay. This doesn't make any sense. Usually when you do returns, you do it in your first year. >> No, not if I had to go pick out what I wanted to return. >> That's years and how it works. >> What are you returning? >> That's how I always did it. >> What's your What are you returning? >> Well, I already had it with the um the filter. >> So, you already returned it? >> Well, I gave it to them to hold on to. So, if I go ask them, they're going to confirm that. >> I don't know. It's a different lady now. >> So, what were you going to do with all of that stuff? >> Put it down. >> Yeah, cuz why would you put it inside the backpack? >> Because it was too full. >> People usually shop like that. >> I didn't have room in my cart. If you saw me, >> not a normal way of shopping. >> If you saw before, I didn't have room in my cart. >> There there's plenty of room. >> Yeah. >> We understand that we shop, too. We know how to fill a cart. We know how to do this. So the things that you're telling us, we know how to return items. >> None of that makes sense for a reasonable person. >> I guess I I guess so because loading a backpack up of stuff that you're going to walk out with. You saw us looking at you over here as Lost Prevention was talking to us. So you decided to walk this way. See if maybe you can just get by us. Like maybe we wouldn't notice. >> No, we didn't. >> Maybe by chance we weren't talking about you. >> Am I stupid could do that? >> Of course you saw me. Like that's stupid to do. Why wouldn't you just walk right there and then behind you? >> Because I was going to go to customer service and I also wanted And I also wanted >> right here >> and I also wanted to get a Starbucks. >> You you weren't going to use EBT with a Starbucks drink. >> Oh, you talking about the Starbucks? >> I know what it's like. So, what were you going to do with that stuff? >> Put it here. Ask them to hold on to it for me. >> I'm waiting for my sister to get here. >> When is your sister supposed to get her? Mhm. >> When officers attempted to place her in handcuffs, Robin clearly resisted, causing the situation to escalate quickly. Officers were forced to warn her that her behavior could lead to additional charges for resisting law enforcement. >> Um, go ahead and put your stuff down. >> Put your put your drink in there. >> Why? >> Take this off.
