resisting arrest uh indecent exposure uh

do he threatened every single one of the
police officers in the road to fight and
hurt USA did he put his hands on anybody

Dead now I never knew what PTSD was
until I had to deal with it myself now I
want to say this upfront I'm not a
physician of course I'm just a regular
guy who became a police officer and had
the privilege of helping people with
that being said most of us have heard
the term PTSD but do we really know what
it is well let's define it according to
the male clinic it's a mental health
condition that's caused by an extremely
stressful or terrifying event now I
often believe that people do go through
things in their lives and they may
acknowledge that they've been through
something horrible however they may not
want to get help or recognize the signs
so today police are called to deal with
a male in the street and just after
watching a few seconds of the body cam
we can see that he's aggressive and
hostile towards these deputies now as
the deputies are interacting with this
smell we do notice that the officers
advis his fiance to wait by the cruiser
and this is smart because often police
have family members wives or fiancees
nearby that could potentially antagonize
the person that police have to deal with
and this is why as officers establish
that space and letting the person know
that you are there to help is key which
these officers did but if you notice one
of the officers he did have his Tas
already but he had it out of view of the
male because that would just make the
male more hostile we don't want or need
that now even though the male is visibly
upset he's not hurting anybody so what
we want to do as officers is we want to
be respectful be calm and be
understanding we never want to triggle
the person by making any sudden
movements to make him even more anxious
and we do see that when this backup
officer arrives and he's conversing with
the m now to some it may look like the
Mel is in control of the situation but
trust me the officers are doing exactly
what they're supposed to be doing
because eventually he does lay down on
his own and they do manage to get him
handcuffed but what stood out to me was
the understanding and the communication
skills of these deputies because the
more aggressive the suspect became the
deputies still remain even killed and
simply allow the suspect to calm down on
the end we do see some of the signs of
PTSD from the suspect the aggression he
appeared to be intoxicated and we
learned that the suspect and the deputy
are both veterans which explains why the
deputy understood how to engage with the
male which is important in my opinion
and it did help the situation but lastly
for me when I witness a suspect tried to
take out another officer and then start
shooting at me and my partner I didn't
realize how much it affected me until I
got back in that police vehicle a few
days later when I started the ignition
and put my hands on the steering wheel
the night kept replaying in my mind and
my hands were literally shaking and
that's when I knew I needed time off and
I needed to talk to someone just for
your information most people who go
through a traumatic event will never
develop PTSD but about 6% of the US
population at some point in their lives
will go through PTSD and women are more
likely to develop PTSD than men so
remember remember whether you're a man
or a woman is nothing to be ashamed of
just be aware of the signs and seek help
Sean was charged with assault on a peace
officer resisting without violence
indecent exposure and public
intoxication he is innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law
