Many shoplifterss still believe a few excuses are enough to get them out of trouble until clear evidence and police show up at the same time, shutting down every possible escape. >> They're potentially shoplifting >> for potentially not actually potentially. >> Help me. Help. Oh, help. Help me. >> We got to get her in mental health court. [music] This is the moment Walmart shoplifterss realize every option is gone and there's no way out. >> What happens when a 65-year-old staff pharmacist with 30 years of experience is caught on camera swallowing controlled substances and pocketing hundreds of pills over multiple years? >> Oh, okay. This is going to show her getting it, putting in her hand, and then going right down here. And you'll see her pop it and just >> She popped it in. Sweet. >> Yeah, she was turning. She popped it. Put her hand in her mouth. Turn right out of her hand. And then if you watch the other on March 4th, 2025, an internal investigation at a CVS pharmacy led to an outcome no one could have expected. Sylvia Castayano, a 65-year-old pharmacist with 30 years of dedicated service to the company, suddenly became the prime suspect in a large-scale theft of controlled substances. >> Hey guys, how you doing? >> Hi. Hello. >> Hey, how you doing? >> I'm doing good. I'm Shannon. I'm with CVS asset protection. This is CVS Protection. >> This is Sylvia Castalano. Is that how you say your name? >> Castalo. Yeah. Mhm. Y she's a pharmacist at the store. Um we had uh some zopm $10 a control substance for sleep. Um and then we had alprazil lamb which is a mood drug benzo. Um so that strengths of alprazil lam 25.5 and 1 millig. So multiple strengths two strengths as open and missing from a store identified sylvia on video as being the colleague that's responsible for taking it. If that's what needs to be done, then that's what we're using. >> Yes. >> Do you have your ID on him? >> You don't have any weapons on you? >> No. [clears throat] >> What's the other? >> Yeah, they have here. I have to though. 159. [snorts] No problem. [clears throat] >> How did CVS find out that? >> Yeah. So, we do periodic counts on controlled substances. Um, [music] about a week and a half ago, I think it was. this store, we do what's called cycle counts. So when they cycle count it, it matches to what they should have in stock and if there's a difference, it flags it and then the pharmacy managers have the ability to escalate it to us to take a look at. So about a week and a half ago, the pharmacy manager in this store had a flag that was open in 5 millig where they're showing like 329 tablets off. She escalated that to us. they came to me and I was assigned the investigator for it. Um I started looking at it. I went through all the past cycle counts um for what we call the inventory period which be for us we uh we inventory control substances every May 1st. So from May 1st to now I could see what we call negative cycle count. So where it looked like somebody was actively taking it. So I started narrowing it down to who it could be um watching videos could be. And I found Sylvia on video actually ingesting it. So you'll see her remove it from the bottle, actually pop a pill. The video in this store goes back to January the 9th. That's the earliest recorded day that we have. >> And just about every shift that I watch on her, there were times where she was doing this after close after everybody left at night. So the store store usually during the week closes at 7:00. She would stay till almost 8:00. And sometimes during that period when there was nobody back there with her should do this. >> All right. I'm not going to ask you for all 30 days or whatever where the videos two or three videos are. So, sure, actually. >> Yeah, they're still taking ingesting, whatever. Um, I also need a receipt of how much these these narcotics are worth. >> Okay. >> Um, I mind some jurisdiction. >> Did she sign this on camera? Was this >> No, there's no there's a sign witness. >> He witnessed. I took it. It's in my handwriting for the questions. her. >> I got I got her on camera adjust medicating. >> Yeah, you can see her self-medicating at night to calm down. I guess probably before she goes home. It came to me in that investigation was open. I started doing investigative work on it, tracking tracking the cycle counts. It appeared active because we kept having negative cycle counts on it. Um, so I started an in-depth video review to pinpoint which colleague it was. I found Sylvia Castana on video. Um, on several occasions at night after closing after all the technicians had left for the night, usually between 7 and 8:00 p.m. um, taking it, she'd either pour it in her hand and put it in her pocket or she'd pour it in a vial and then later pour it in her hand and put it in her pocket or she'd ingest some. I've seen that as well. um with the exception of maybe one shift. I think it was most shifts that I watched and she worked and our video goes back to uh at the time it went back to NE. >> What's her exact title and position? >> She's staff pharmacist. >> Staff pharmacist. >> Well, I interviewed her today with Kevin present as a witness. Um during the interview, she admitted to taking um Alpresam. 25 mg, Alprazel half millig, alprazelam 1 millig, um, zopin 5 mig, and zquin 10 millig. She stated that she was taking it because to help relieve stress, um, and they go on home and calm down at night, um, was the reason she's taking it. She said she'd been doing it for the last 2 to 3 years. Um, and she admitted to ingesting it and admitted to taking it home in her pocket. >> And it was over a period of 3 years or >> over two to three years. She couldn't remember exactly. She said two and a half two to three years. And she admitted to um uh 300 um I was opening 10 millig 100 um open 5 m 30.25 30.5 and 10 alam 1 millig but she couldn't that's her best guess. She couldn't remember the exact quantities. All right. And so we just took her over. She was telling us on that part. >> The CCTV footage exposed a systematic and prolonged pattern of criminal behavior. >> So in the system it shows that all these pills were more than that. >> More than that. >> A lot more than that. That's just what she admitted to. >> That's just what she admitted to. >> Yeah. >> Shannon Hammond had notified me that there was a potential drug case uh involving Sylvia Castalano at this location. uh he had shared with me um the different drugs that we had concerns with with the outrazling and themes and also shared with me some video clips and during the interview we got the permission from Sylvia where she you know admitted to taking um total about 470 comments worth and the alto varying strength so all right and I just want to confirm that the store does want to press charges CVS does more press charges all We need we need to know. We know that she took medication. Okay. But we need to estimate a dollar amount. They're going to get itemized receipt, but we need to know that for Do you guys have an estimate for how much? >> No. They vary. It's It's probably drugs. There's not going to be a lot of dollars. Like I don't anticipate this being like a grand >> under 20,000. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. Actually, >> the actual >> Yeah. [snorts] >> Oh, okay. This is going to show her >> getting it, putting in her hand, and then going right down here. And you'll see her pop it and just >> She popped in. Sweet. >> Yeah. As she was turning, she popped it. Put her hand mouth turn right out of her hand. And then if you watch the other Do you have a primary doctor? >> No, I don't. >> Do you get benefits here? >> Yes, I did did. Yeah. >> So, your benefit you get health benefits? >> Mhm. Not anymore. >> Does that cover? >> I should have went to a doctor. My husband's always telling me to go to a doctor. >> Is your husband aware of this? No, he's not. Please don't tell. Well, you got to find out now. He's not. >> What What is uh What does CVS charge for one alle pill? >> I don't even know. I'll tell you the truth. >> It's not It's not a money thing. It's not that I sell or anything. So, I really don't know how much it is. >> It's not a money thing for you. It's a money thing for them. That's why I'm asking. >> If you know, >> I don't know. I'm bad with numbers and I don't know. >> Could be a dollar. Or could be 50 cents. I I don't know. No, I don't know. >> How old are you? >> 65. >> 65. Okay. >> In this store, like 15 years in general for CVS. I work for CVS and EarD. So, it's 30 years for being a pharmacist for the company. >> Okay. That's your position. Pharmacist. >> Staff pharmacist. Correct. Stupid. >> You don't have to apologize to me. >> I know. Oh, I apologize to my husband and the family and the company and everybody else who's so stupid. >> So, there's like there's kind of two sides with it, right? If you have a drug problem, then obviously you want to seek help for that, >> right? >> You know, and then if you feel the need that you need to be prescribed this medicine, then I would probably get in touch with a >> sure >> primary care physician and you know what do you have what are you anxious about? I >> have a job. It's very stressful doing that like quoted to me and I stay late. Come in early. I mean I I come in like an hour early every day to get the work done and then stay like at least 2 hours an hour to two hours depending. >> Help me understand cuz I'm totally ignorant to the job. Yeah. What do you mean they have quotas? >> Oh, you have to you have to uh it's like you're beating the clock. You have to do so many prescriptions per day within a certain period of time and you have to meet all the goals and the deadlines and the amount of prescriptions and you have to matter. >> Wouldn't that be dependent on them bringing patients for medications? Like if you're a slower restore that okay >> would be I figured but I I didn't know there was a quota aspect to it. >> Oh yeah. It's all numbers. It's numbers. >> And you salary? I Yeah, I'm salary. Okay. Well, yeah, pretty much. >> Are you considered parttime or full time? >> No, I'm a full-time full-time staff. >> During a tearful interrogation with the police, Sylvia admitted that she had been self-medicating with these substances for the past 2 to 3 years to cope with the crushing pressure of work quotas. >> I live in Boon near St. Lucia with hypox. >> So, you know, they have cameras in here, right? >> Okay. Once done is done. >> You're already in handcuffs, >> right? So, now's the time to really like be honest, >> right? You've been right. You're Miranda, right? Right. >> I'm trying to be honest. >> Okay. You know, they have cameras in here, >> right? >> They have good cameras. >> Do you know what year it is? >> Yeah. 2025. >> Do you know who the president is? >> Yeah. Donald Trump. >> So, your your cognitive abilities there? >> Yeah. I mean, I'm 65 years old and I get into nervous cuffs that I'm facing charges. >> So, the charge you're more than likely going to be facing is what's called organized scheme to defraud. >> Oh, goodness gracious. >> Okay. It's a it's it's a felony. >> Oh my god. >> So, it's pretty serious. >> That is serious. Oh, right now my bag and my sweatshirt is in the pharmacy as well as my phone. >> Is there anything that we're going to find in there that shouldn't be in there? No. >> Okay. No. No medicine. Did you take any medicine today? No. >> Are you sure? >> Mhm. >> So, let me ask you cuz I've I've never uh I've never used an anti-anxiety medication. >> Uh-huh. >> Had you ever taken Xanax in the past >> prior to this? Yeah. No. I mean, this just happened the past couple of years. That's it. With air or stress, I like pop it. It just relaxes you a little bit, but >> Okay. So, is that what you would feel when you would take the Xanax? You would feel relaxed and not as stressed. >> And you like that feeling? >> All right. Yeah. Just wasn't for a high or a kick or anything. It was just like to >> It is not a charge. >> What are these? No, those are for my dog. Oh my god. This travel for my dog. >> I I asked you. >> I didn't know I had it with me. >> Where was that? In her bag. I asked you. >> I didn't know I had it. It's been in there forever. That was when she had surgery. >> So, here here's another. >> What's this? >> You don't know what that is? Okay. So, I asked you to be honest, right? Yeah, I knew I had >> You didn't know you had it? >> No, I didn't. >> It's not buried in the bottom of your bag. It's in your bag. >> Okay. >> It's not It's not in prescription. >> I'm sorry. I know. I didn't know. I didn't know. >> Listen, I'm just going to tell you right now what I tell everybody. Ignorance of the law does not make you exempt from the law. Do you know what that means? It means just cuz I didn't know doesn't mean you can't be found guilty and arrested for it. >> You understand me? [snorts] Let's see. >> Do you have anything else on you? >> No. >> All right. So, if we find anything else on you at the jail, they're going to add that on. All right. >> Sylvia Castellina was charged with theft of a controlled substance and related drug offenses. She later told investigators she needed help with addiction. Let's take a look at how viewers reacted after watching that breathtaking situation. If you knew how many pharmacists, doctors, nurses, even veterinarians were drug addicts, you'd faint. My mom used to tell me all the time to count my pain meds because she was sure the pharmacist was palming a few. I told her she was crazy and no pharmacist would risk their job like that. Boy, was I wrong. Even when the motivation is personal self-medication rather than sale, the act of removing controlled drugs from inventory without authorization still constitutes theft and can result in loss of professional license in addition to criminal charges. From the downfall of pharmacist Sylvia's career after 30 years of dedication driven by unseen pressures and misguided coping mechanisms at a CVS pharmacy, we now transition to a much more explosive and directly [music] confrontational incident at a Walmart store. What happens when a lengthy return dispute at Walmart ends with a transgender shopper allegedly following an employee and deploying pepper spray, then denying it when police arrive? >> Okay, well, I guess I'll just call you when I get to the jail. Is there anything in the car that you'd like to take with you? >> My medicine. >> Your med? Obviously, the medicine, but anything other than that, like a wallet or um you got anything in your purse that you want to take with you? Uh if it's a smaller purse, you can take it with you, but if it's one of these big old like Louis Vuitton handbags or whatever, we can't take that. >> Afternoon at Walmart descended into chaos when a transgender customer attempted to return a Valentine's Day item that was 5 days past the return window. After waiting in vain for over 3 hours to speak with a manager, the customer's patience was completely exhausted. >> Hello. Hey, I'm Officer Pasy. I work with the city of Shambling. >> So, I stopped you cuz there's apparently been an incident that happened at Walmart involving you when you were seen getting back into this car. What's going on today? >> I don't know about the >> You don't What? Well, what happened? They didn't pick your vehicle out of the phone book. >> I don't know what happened. >> Okay. You got your driver's license on you? >> Yeah. Were you at Walmart today? >> Um earlier like 2:30. >> All right. And what happened while you were up there? >> Um nothing. >> Okay. Cuz here's the deal. We got a call about you being up there for about 3 hours and apparently the store asked you to leave. >> You didn't. >> The store. >> Now the store is reporting that you pepper sprayed one of the employees. >> The store never asked me to leave. Okay. So, what happened? >> The store was asking about a return. >> Okay. >> Um, can I show you on phone? >> Sure. >> So, I spoke earlier. I have my call log. Spoke earlier to the 1800 number they had. >> They told me to go back up there. >> That's like Walmart corporate. >> Yes. They told me to go back up there, speak to Tyrese. This is how you know I'm not lying. The day 12:57 p.m. Spoke to him at that time. >> Okay. >> Went back up there. I'm not exaggerating. >> We found her. >> Oh, you got her. >> Oh, yes, sir. >> Um, let me >> So, she was she for like I think like two and a half hours trying to return a uh a Valentine day. But um she was trying to she like two and a half hours trying to >> you're 5 days after holiday. So we've been telling her no no. So she claims she talked corporate to speak with him. This story right here. So he they made we already know the front end handle it you know. So she's just been waiting way. All of a sudden him right there walks away. >> She falls right. Yeah. So she falls behind him. I'm thinking she about to record or something. >> But sure enough, once I seen what it was, she sprayed it. You can see right there pepper spray and then she took off running out the store. >> Who's that gentleman? that he employed driving or walking out. >> Yeah, we caught the tag and they had some alters in the area. So we get down to everybody. That's the type of [ __ ] we >> Is he okay? I'm talking. >> Was he the one talking to her? >> Yeah. >> What is that called when she she do that around? >> Mhm. >> What is that called when she do that in charge? >> Yeah. >> Battered. >> While the customer claimed to be acting purely in self-defense due to feeling threatened, Walmart's surveillance footage painted an entirely different picture. >> Would not help, would not answer, wouldn't say nothing. But I'm at I'm there for the manager, Tyrese. At that point, I was up there for I was at there at 2:30. I was up there. >> Okay. >> Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting. It's 5:00 now, >> right? And so nobody What were you trying to return? >> It's still there. >> Oh, the product you were trying to return is still there. >> And the reason the reason why it got disrespectful was because they're talking about bottom surgery and talking about my gender and stuff like that, that doesn't have nothing to do with me returning. >> No, sure doesn't. this thing like and to sit there for 2 and 1/2 hours and I get no answers and everybody just being rude and weird. >> Mhm. >> That didn't help me. And nobody was listening. Nobody wanted to even hear me out or even try to help. >> Okay. >> So, when you say it got rude and disrespectful, what do you mean by that? Like y'all were just yelling at each other. Throwing >> chairs. He was saying disrespectful stuff. Okay. like you I don't know how to explain it but you know how people in a field can work the system to make you feel away like they were just being very rude >> very like the one of the girls I even got her on my phone hold on she came up in my face she came up in my face taking pictures >> okay >> doing stuff all of that like I'm not it wasn't one of those cases where I'm just cutting up these people were antagonizing me pressuring me at that point I had been there almost 3 hours. >> Mhm. >> And he then he made a comment about bottom surgery in relation to my gender. >> That has nothing to do with the with the situation. >> Absolutely not. >> So, did anybody get did it did it get physical at any point? Cuz like I said, they're reporting that somebody up there got pepper-sprayed. >> No. >> You sure? Because if look, if you felt some type of way, if you felt like they were going to attack you or they were attacking you and you pepper- sprrayed somebody in self-defense, that's one thing. You just hauled off and hose somebody down. That's >> Tony. No, it wasn't like that. It was like what I'm saying. We were exchanging words and he was making comments about bottom surgery and being very aggressive. Like it was one of those type of situations. >> I did feel for my safety because I have all these people. I'm showing you right here all these people coming in my face. Like >> it's too much at one time. Like it was a it was a lot. And I already did fear for my safety cuz I'm asking for the manager but nobody is helping. >> Okay. So, at this point, I feel like y'all just pushing me along, antagonizing me just to do it. >> Okay. Hey buddy, what you got him? >> All right. Um, so basically this lady came over here to Walmart customer service to try to return my holiday product. It was past the time to return. She refused to leave. One of the employees um had advised her that she couldn't do it. >> And the employee leaves. He walks away 10 seconds later. Well, then she begins to follow behind them and he's already by the cash register um pulling a card and she just pulls out a pepper spray and sprays him and takes off running. Oh, okay. Well, does this particular person want to prosecute? >> Let me ask. And >> you've seen it on video, I imagine. Yeah. >> Yeah. She literally she literally follow followed him all the way to the cash registers. He wasn't even looking and then she pulled out that switch and like sprays it. I'm going see if they got him at all cuz it looked like he turned around and he got his like his back and like what? >> Okay. >> Let me uh actually prosecute you. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> All right. who wouldn't do that. She go she felt comfortable and she did a pep stream, >> but we're going to take her to jail for simple battery right here. >> Cuz I came in and she was I came in and she was there. I just got here 4:00. >> I had a been here all day. And what did you what did he or she say to you? She kept saying, "Uh why can't you get Tar?" I said, "Well, normally around this time, Tyrese is gone." And then she was like, "Well, you told me a different story. They done told me a different story. I don't know why y'all so nasty, so rude to me. I said, "Well, I haven't been nasty everybody." So, >> I said, "You mean me?" I said, "I ain't been nasty to you." She was like, "Yeah, you've been listen to my conversation the whole time." I said, "I've been taking care of customers the whole time." Then she was saying something. I said, "Man, I'm not going to argue with you." >> And then she said, "Well, how does it feel to be a working at Walmart?" I said, "This is not my only job." That's when I started walking away. And then when she walked behind you, when did you realize she was was behind you? cuz she was saying, "Say what?" >> Okay, that's what you do. >> All right. So, I called the other officer up there at Walmart and he said that you were obviously you were up there um and that you were trying to return some sort of product that was well past its return date or whatever Walmart's policy is on that, but it is on camera where you walked up behind an employee and hosed him down with pepper spray. >> Okay. So, that employee does want to prosecute. So, I need you to step down off the car for me cuz I got to take you into custody. >> Okay. Can I get my diabetes medication? >> We'll get it for you. Okay. We're not going to we're not going to let you leave without your medication. >> Borrow your other hand. You just put your phone right up there. >> Based on the license plate information, Officer Paisy swiftly intercepted the suspect's vehicle. No one come back. >> Sorry. Close your foot in the door. Okay. >> Did you want to stay on the phone with this particular person? >> Speak a real quick. >> Sure. >> Chanel. >> Um, I'm going to go to jail, so I don't know. I guess I'll just tell you when I get out. I'm about to call um Santel and tell him what's going on. >> All right. going to be directly across the road after credit. Nobody remembers a phone number anymore. Everybody just hit that contact button. >> I've known him for like so long. Hello. Hello. Um, they about to take me, but I don't know if you're coming like for my car or whatever the case may be. >> Um, did I share my location with you? >> Hold on. >> How close is he? >> Um, >> like within next 10, 15 minutes >> maybe. So, if not, it'll be fine. I just I just need to try. Um Okay. >> Try now. >> Um they have them. They're going to be in my bag. >> They're going to be in my um bag, I guess. Um, I don't know what they're going to allow me to do, but um, I think he said they have to go within like 15 minutes. >> Okay. >> Is there anything in the car that you'd like to take with you? >> My medicine. your med obviously the medicine but anything other than that like a wallet or um you had anything in your purse that you want to take with you. Uh if it's a smaller purse you can take it with you but if it's one of these big old like Louis Vuitton handbags or whatever we can't take that >> it's that one >> it's that >> they might let you take that. That one's going to be on the fence. So if they don't let you take it would have to come to our property. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, if you want to leave it, we can leave it. If you want to try, I'm happy to take it with us and we can try. >> Okay. Let's try that. >> Let's try. Okay. All right. Then what I'm going to do is I'm going to stick your phone in your purse along with your um earphones here and then uh we'll just go from there. I'm going to crack these windows for you so you get some breeze coming through and then um I'll let you know everything that's going on before we go anywhere. Okay. It certainly won't take the lighters out very seriously. They'll take the hand sanitizer. That's what that is. >> Yeah. I'm trying to separate what they'll take a little bit more. Take this back. I'll let you go through that bag and double check it real quick. >> Beautiful. Guess I should take a picture of it. All right. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> Yeah. Pepper spray is like yellow or some [ __ ] You can see it. >> Bear spray. >> Oh, it's bear spray. >> Yeah. >> So, it's different. >> Yeah. >> It's like that. Bear spray. >> Way hotter. Yeah. Yeah, I'll put a picture. I got a picture of it on show you. >> Yeah. >> See what time you got there? >> Uh 2:00. Yeah, cuz I guess she called um Walmart corporate. They said go back to the store, ask for Tyrese, who's the manager. She said she was up there for several hours. Nobody wanted to help her. Employees kept coming up to her and taking her photo and whatever else. And she got a couple of pictures of some nasty employee that's like in her face taking pictures. So I don't know that anyways. Um yeah, poor guy was walking away with a big ass car like he was like by her car already in the front. She comes like saying something to him. He turns around. She like pepper space just dashes out. So this is what it is. It's tears for bear attack deterrent. >> Bear attack deter. >> I'm going to get it attached to the report too, but I'll send it to you. She was transported to the Decal County Jail. The charge is a misdemeanor battery with a typical bond in the $1,000 to $5,500 range. Here are the most attention-grabbing comments from the online community regarding this incident. Making fun of the guy working at Walmart. At least he has a job and isn't desperate to get some money back from a gifted Valentine's Day present. So bleak. From the start of the video, I was like, that is not a woman. Deploying pepper spray on another person is generally treated as battery under Georgia law, even if the person claims they felt harassed or unsafe. Leaving behind the explosive rage and the pepper spray assault at Walmart, we transition to another criminal incident at a shopping mall where the concealment lay not in an intent to attack, but right beneath the suspect's clothing. What happens when mall security tips off police about a woman matching a shoplifter's description and an 18-minute body cam stop ends with concealed merchandise pulled from under her dress >> for a potentially shoplifter >> for potentially not for actually potentially. >> Let me explain how this is going to go down. Okay. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to hold on to your phone. So, you're going to be placed under arrest and then you're going to be searched and we're going to find the items. Either you can just give it to us now >> or when we have an officer come and search you and find the items then we can charge you additional. >> On September 4th, 2024 in Milbour, New Jersey, an alert from mall security led to a dramatic confrontation between police and a suspicious female passenger. >> Hold the air. I got her outside Victoria Secret now trying to catch up with her. with that. >> She's walking towards Bloomingdales uh >> by Victoria Secret. I'm trying to catch up. >> Hi, ma'am. Stop right there. Hi. >> Hi. I'm officer Delay came over in police. Just aware of the recording on body cam. Okay. Stand over here for me. Okay. >> Right over here. Okay. Um, were you shopping in any stores today? >> Yeah, I just came to the mall. >> Okay. So, I'm just going to read your rights real quick. Do you have your rights? What? >> Just listen here. >> You have your the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. >> Hello. >> Why is he recording? What's going on? >> Relax. Let me finish my state. >> What's going on? >> I'm going to answer your questions after I read my statement. >> Hello. Why am I not all right? I'm not >> ever stopped by craton barrel. >> Crate and barrel. >> I don't want to crate and barrel. >> Right. Are you going to listen or you going to talk? >> Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court law. >> You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, it could be appointed to you. >> Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right. >> What store were you in today? I was for Okay. I wanted to I forgot where I went into it before that. >> Okay. All right. Did you conceal any merchandise on you? >> Did you take any clothing? Cuz we're going to go to the store and look at the cameras. So, >> a noteworthy aspect of this case is that the police officer read the woman her Miranda writes very early on, even before executing a formal arrest. Well, let's give us the items that you have concealed under your dress and then we'll get you out of here as soon as we can. >> No, I know you're still going y'all going to arrest me. Like >> we are. Like that. >> It's a New York elephant top. >> I just want to make it on my >> In a secluded hallway, the officers watched in disbelief as the woman repeatedly pulled out an array of fashion items from beneath her dress. I just want to >> I'm hoping you'll be out of here in a couple hours. >> I'm not lying to you. >> Like I said, you gave me all the merchandise back and I'm taking your word with that. Okay. [clears throat] So I'm going to work with you and it's just going to be a shoplifting charge. Okay. So that's it. So maybe a few hours of paperwork. >> You're not going to miss her birthday. That's pretty much it. >> Nice. >> I love our [snorts] men in blue. >> I do. >> Oh, I appreciate that. >> Be a minute. >> No, no, don't worry. Laura, can you grab me another iPad? >> So, I have AP. >> Oh, there we go. >> Itself is like, >> do you have any weapons on you? >> No. >> No knives? >> No. >> Guns? Razor blades, wire cutters, nothing like that. >> Nothing. >> Okay. >> Nothing at all. >> Watch yourself. >> I'm going to throw this stuff on the pack. >> All right. You can have a seat. You're going to sit under underneath the blue seat belt. >> Call Uh, two phones in a purse, sir. >> She had a car. >> Car. >> Good question. >> 12 Bravo 9. >> How'd you get up to the mall today? >> Somebody hit me. All right. >> Okay. Okay. So, you do you have a car here? >> No. >> How'd you plan on leaving? >> The person was supposed to meet me, but >> Okay. You're not here with anybody else? >> I live in Queens, so the person gave me a ride where I could take like a metronome back >> cuz I live in the address I gave you is roasted. >> Okay. >> So, you weren't here with anybody else? >> Okay. >> She was charged with shoplifting under New Jersey law. The degree of the offense depends on the total retail value of the recovered merchandise. What did the audience think of this unbelievable handle? Let's go through a few standout comments. My phone's been cut off as her phone rings and she answers it. Just imagine the amount of times this homeg girl has committed retail theft and didn't get caught probably hundreds of times. Voluntarily surrendering concealed items after being warned of additional charges is generally considered admissible. The total dollar value of the merchandise determines whether the case remains a lower level offense or becomes an indictable crime in New Jersey. Next, we transition to an incident with an entirely different tone, an explosion of arrogance and fierce defiance. What happens when a customer calls police to report a business selling alcohol to a minor, then refuses repeated orders to leave the property and turns the situation into her own arrest? >> No, he sold beer to a minor. He >> I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. >> CALM DOWN. LET'S KNOW. WE GOT TO get her in mental health. She don't have an ID on it. >> You want to leave the property? >> Hi. >> Hi. Are you the police officer that I got called? Okay. >> Sure am. >> Okay. I see him selling to a minor. And what did he look like again? What was that? >> Cigar white. No, he sold beer to a minor. He goes to school over there at Hack for you. >> Okay. Call the state liquor patrol. >> Call the state labor patrol. I will do that. So you can't arrest him now. I didn't do anything. >> Ma'am, do you want to leave the property or do you want to go to jail? >> For what? For what? >> Because we're telling you you need to leave. So now you're criminally trespassing. >> Why am I I can't buy something. >> Okay. And they want you to leave, which is their right. They can refuse service to you. >> No, but he did something wrong. What did I do? I called you. >> They want you to leave. >> I called you. >> Ma'am, are you going to leave? >> I called you to help me. And he's trying. He tried to hit me. >> Are you going to leave the property or I have to send you to jail? >> Huh? I didn't do anything. >> Are you trying to get by? >> Yes, they are. >> Are you going to weave? >> I don't have to. I came here to buy something. >> He's not He's not selling anything. >> Ma'am, last chance. Are you >> driving the beer then? >> If he's not selling anything, so no one's [ __ ] >> He's not selling to you. He doesn't want to sell to you. >> How do you know that? >> He has the right to refuse service to you, ask you to leave his property. >> So, he can sell to the minor. But how did you know that? I didn't tell you that on the phone, >> ma'am. Are you going to leave? I guess you know that. How do you know that? How did you know? How do you know that? >> Yes. >> 43. >> I'm good. Yes, you are. Drunk. No. >> Oh, yeah. >> I can't. >> As the officers moved in to make the arrest, the scene erupted into chaos amid Taylor's screams for help and accusations of racism. >> Hey, what did I do? Help me. Help. Oh, help. Help me. Help. Hey, let's stop. Help. I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything wrong. Calm down. I didn't do anything. >> I didn't do anything wrong. Help me. Get it on video. It is on video. It's on video. You got to get in the cruiser. >> Help. Help. Help me. Help. Help. Help. The cruiser. I WAS AT THE STORE and he fell TO A MINOR. >> Oh my god. I called you for help. >> You want to GO IN THERE? >> OH MAN. >> OH, you're fine. >> I am. Yes. Tate, it's going to hurt a little bit. >> She's talking to herself. Let's just put her in. >> What am I doing? >> I'M NOT DOING NOTHING WRONG. I CAME TO SHOP AT THE STORE. >> OKAY. LISTEN. >> LISTEN. WHAT? >> Last chance. >> Last chance. >> Get in the car. We're putting you in the wrap >> for what? I didn't >> Because you are under arrest. >> Trespass. >> Huh? >> We explained this to you. That's why they don't hear me screaming. NO, THEY DON'T. A T you good now. Oh, I am. Oh, I'm so I know cuz this does hurt, babe. Does it? Yes. Yes, it does. But this is the practice run. OH, IT WAS A PRACTICE RUN. OH, I think he didn't eat. Ah, you can get on them cuffs. I think I can. But don't run, Taylor. This is good. It's making him look bad. Oh, we just made him der. Ah, it's okay. That's even better cuz then we did it all. You're dumb as Oh, we did make up her on purpose. [screaming] THAT MAKES YOU LOOK WORSE. OH, CUZ I DIDN'T DO Oh god, WE GOT TO GO FOR HER. YES, you do. >> We got to get her in mental health for it. I think it's not going to be some. >> Do you know her name? >> I I got to look it up. I got to I got to remember what day I was there last week. >> So when you got there standing there, she's angry that she said we're selling electric. >> So I got called for twice last week. Court right here. >> I'm not trying to. I'm just letting you know what happened. >> Yeah, I was there. It was all people. >> Yeah, it was, wasn't it? She was arrested and charged with criminal trespass. Additional resistance during the arrest process can support further charges. In response to that outofc control escalation, the viewers have shared some very sharp perspectives. I love the fact that people think that just because they say so, that makes it proof. I would love the guy that's being accused of wrongdoing to accuse her of something, anything, because according to her logic, she should be arrested if he accuses her. It's no particular channel, but I think I just hit my limit with loudmouth disrespectful idiots and all of their BS excuses. Just gross and stupid. Just saying. A private business has the legal right to refuse service and order a person to leave its property. Once that order is clearly given and the person refuses, continued presence becomes criminal trespass. If Taylor stirred up trouble through sheer arrogance and baseless accusations, the subject of our next story chose to stealthily trespass on private property to serve their personal needs. What happens when police respond to a pizza shop for a stolen credit card only to have the real card owner show up while the thieves are still there? >> Where's the card at? So, you think it's cool to just use other people's credit cards or what? >> No. >> All right. What if this was your card? >> I would be really upset. >> Huh? >> You were just hungry. For now, just put your hands behind your back and you two can figure this [ __ ] out. Huh? >> Yeah. All right. Have a seat on the wall. >> How'd you pay for the CVS cards? >> Huh? Your credit card? phone belong to you? >> Yes. >> The wallet belong to you? >> Yes. >> You sure? >> Yes. >> Where's her wallet? >> Where's her wallet? >> Hm. >> Where is it? I tossed it out the window. >> Your card. >> No, I didn't say I bought it. >> You didn't? That's what it sounded like to me. >> What's your middle initial? >> S. >> S like Sierra. >> Sean. >> Sean. All right. All right, let me ask you a question. I'm not asking for consent at the moment, but if I ask you for consent to search your vehicle, would you give consent? >> You can just run them. I left it in the bathroom right here. >> I left my wallet. I turned around, went back in. It was gone. I had to freeze my American Express. >> So, here7 3867 38 >> I've waited >> this Walmart they tried to hit me. This is where >> uh this one is the one in [sighs] >> I can get locations. You want me to call the credit card companies and get locations? if you can. Um, I'll get you a sheet of paper or something. Um, get a scrap paper if you want to just itemize to the best that you can, times and locations, cuz if it happened in another jurisdiction, they either one, they could respond here or more than likely they'll probably just forward it to their detectives. I'll probably end up charging her tonight and then they can follow one of their charges in the other >> cuz um they they hit my that card that they have. It's a gray card with a check mark on it and on the back it'll say BJ's Curse. >> That's the one that was used here. >> That was used here. And that one they hit for over $1,000. They hit liquor stores, >> Targets, Walmarts. >> Okay. The main thing I need from you, if you can for me, is >> locations and times. And when they tell you, "Hey, Walmart, which Walmart, which Target, which cuz then what I can do is I can forward everything and get other jurisdictions involved." Okay. >> Cuz each time they do a transaction as a separate charge. >> The suspects were identified as Cory Nicholas and a female companion. Initially, they attempted to cover their tracks by claiming they were using a card belonging to a friend named Laura. >> How did this all start? >> I went into the women's bathroom and I saw a wallet on the changing table. Okay. Can you describe the wallet? >> I describe the wallet. >> Can you describe it? Like what color? What the brand name? >> It was a black wallet. >> A black what? >> Coach. >> Coach. There are certain things that I have discretion on. Okay. And honesty is important. All right. It usually goes a long way. Most people that I deal with lie to me on a constant basis. Okay. So far, you've been pretty forthcoming. Okay. But so let's continue that trend of honesty that you've had. Okay. Were you at your house when he got to your house? >> Yes. >> Okay. And then you just left from there? >> Yes, I did. And I went to McDonald's with my daughter. >> Okay. He wasn't there. So if I go check the cameras in McDonald's, >> he's not going to be on the video. >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. Absolutely. He was. >> So when did he like become aware that you had cards that were not yours? >> I called him. I told him, "Were >> you on your way home?" >> Yeah. After I picked up my Sorry, after I dropped off my daughter. >> Um, >> I went with her to the Target and plantation and I bought things there. >> Okay. What did you buy there? >> Um, I bought her a toy and for myself. >> Are you Are you working right now? >> Um, yeah. You are? >> I have a full-time job at LA. at where? >> Alli Doors, South Florida garage door company. >> What I mean, are you hard up on money? I'm not trying to get into your personal business, but >> Yeah, I am. I just scrunched up all my money to pay my rent. >> Okay. >> Just yesterday. >> Okay. Okay. And about what time was that? More That doesn't have to be exact. >> I bought a laptop. >> How much was that? >> 300. >> 300. About what time was that? I have no idea. >> Okay. Um, and he wasn't with you at that point. >> Are we sure? >> Yeah. >> You've been super honest so far, so I just want to make sure. I'm just trying to establish the whole story. Are you sure he wasn't with you? I'm very good friends with the loss preventions girl over there. She can pull the video and if I see him walk in with you, all your credibility is going to go out the window. Your face says it, so you might as well just tell me. >> It means I'm still really don't know all what's going on. >> You know what's going on, man. You just don't want to tell me what's going on. >> I just I don't know what to say. >> Well, listen. What if I told you that this lady, the victim, has a timeline store by store of what places that you guys went to and utilize her carts. Uh, I would say okay, but her and I only were together for the last maybe couple hours. >> And how many stores did you go with this young lady? >> I'm here. >> Okay. How many stores? >> And then I'm here >> and we were at CVS. >> Okay. >> And then I'm here at the pizza place. >> You didn't go anywhere before that. >> Oh. So, if I go look at the video that this victim gives me the timeline of Walmart, Target, uh, etc., etc., I'm not going to see you on the video. Let's go. Come on, man. I'm very tight with the loss preventions officer at Walmart, and I will have her send me a clip of the video right now. >> I can't even remember, though. This is like before 2010. I haven't been arrested or in trouble in well over a decade. Did you purchase anything for yourself? >> H >> I don't know. >> Please swipe the cards. You or her? >> You don't sound too sure. >> I mean, >> again, I'm going to pull the video, man. So, just you might as well just be straight up. H every time CVS, Walmart full So if you're sent the laptop's from Margate Walmart and So what did you do? You went and dropped that off and then went to Coral Springs Target cuz I thought you said you went from Walmart to Target. >> Yeah, I dropped it off. >> You dropped it off first. And what about does Dollar Tree play in here somehow? Dollar Tree or Dollar General? One of those? >> Dollar General. Yes. >> Okay. >> She threw it out the window at Atlantic 441. I had three officers go look for it. So far, no luck. >> She would have been going my purse and it's >> she threw it out by the best uh by the Boston market. She said she just threw it out the window. >> So, unfortunately, >> there's a bus stop there, too. >> Unfortunately, you know what all other than credit cards, what else did you have? ID, >> my license, my social, pictures of my dead mother, my dead father, >> unfortunately. >> Like [ __ ] that I'll never get back >> ever. >> All right, hop up for me. Nothing on your person that if I have a female come pat you down. >> Nothing. All right. Can I check real quick? >> Check your pockets real quick. >> No drugs or nothing like that before she leaves her. No, it's okay. >> All right, relax your hands. I'm just going to fix these a little bit. >> Nothing in your bra either or nothing like that when I have a sergeant come over here and check you. >> I don't have anything. >> I just got to ask you've been straight with me so I don't you know. >> Can I tell you the truth about something? >> What's up? >> How long it is at my house? I felt like if I said I had her wallet still, I was going to get in more trouble. But >> well, it's honestly it's whether you have it or not is not a good idea. >> It's at my house on the ottoman. >> I appreciate it. Believe it or not, for her, you know how you said >> everything is. >> Okay, listen. So, you know how you said to me that you know what's done is done. Whatever. There's nothing you could do to change it. Believe it or not, by you telling me that it changes a lot because it doesn't change your charges. Okay? Because what's done is done. Whether you're in possession of it still or not doesn't change your charges. You're not getting ad charged with anything. You're actually going to be much more likely for the victim to have a lot of mercy on you because pictures of her mother and father who passed away are in that wallet. So, the fact that you have that is going to have I'm sure we don't determine what your charges. I mean, we don't necessarily determine like what your penalties are, your charges are. So, I'm sure the victim when she goes to court later is going to be a lot more merciful when she realizes she's going to get her [ __ ] done. You know what I'm saying? >> Man was charged with similar felony counts. He was ordered to complete 24 months of state probation and pay more than $1,900 in court costs and fines. His probation is scheduled to end in January 2027. This situation has sparked quite a bit of debate. Let's see how the viewers evaluate the actions of everyone involved. The victim is a badass. Showing up to the crime scene is top level. The victim walking by the crooks and being able to tell them what she thought of them was refreshing. How does it end in 26 felony charges, but no jail time. That's a slap in the face to the victim that did everything right. Finding a lost wallet does not give someone the right to use the credit cards inside. Each unauthorized transaction can be charged as a separate offense. Leaving the Margate fraud, where greed turned to remorse over priceless keepsakes. We turn to a Walmart incident where pure entitlement [music] led to disaster. What happens when a man outside a store tells an employee, "You know, I have a gun on me during a receipt check," then claims he speaks no English when police arrive. >> What's that? >> I think >> um what's his address and birth? He said he doesn't have >> the incident unfolded inside a Walmart when employees asked a customer, Carlos Guzman, to provide a receipt for an item he was attempting to return. Since Carlos didn't speak English, a Spanish- speakaking employee was called over to assist. We'll be out with one outside, man. Hey, what up? Hey. Hey. Hands up. Hands up. Hands up. Hands up. >> Hey. No. No. No. You're good. You're good. Just show me your hands. You have >> No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Reach. No reach. No reach. >> Okay. Just keep them up. We're good. Do you have a Do you have a pistol? >> No. >> No. No. Hands up. Hands up. I told you. I told you. Keep your hands up. >> No. English. >> Okay. Yeah. This. >> Do not reach again. Do not reach again. Do not reach again. Do not reach again. >> No English. >> No. No English. No English. >> I'm not dealing with you. >> Get on the ground. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. >> See? Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. >> Especially me working for no working. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, sir. >> Sorry. >> Okay, that's fine. >> No speaking English. [laughter] >> Sorry. >> Okay. >> Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. >> Sleep here for a second. Let me get these double locked. Let me go. >> Yeah. Let me get it before you just stop. What's going on? >> Hello. So, um, one of the door holes came in the office knocking my door to ask me cuz they were trying to ask him for a receipt >> that is on the floor right now. >> Okay. >> 11:03. >> And I I guess he doesn't speak English. So, they were trying to um ask me to ask him for a receipt and I went outside and I was like, "Oh, hey sir, like you have a receipt with you and he was like, "Oh, I was just trying to return this." And I was like, "Okay." And then um he started getting getting kind of aggressive and he told me, "Oh, you know I have a gun on me, right? I'm trying to be respectful, but you know I have a gun on me." >> And we've never seen him before. And no one actually saw a gun. >> No, he never pulled it up. >> Is there someone who could help me with translation? >> I can do it. >> You can help me. Okay, let's try help me translate here, please. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Now, do you have to talk to him? [laughter] >> You're kidding. That's not something to joke about. >> The situation rapidly escalated when Carlos suddenly threatened the store employees with a shocking statement. Okay. But does he have Mexico ID? Anything? But at home, he lost it. How did he get here? If he was driving [laughter] somebody who brought him here, someone dropped him off. He was trying to steal cuz he doesn't have money in him. >> Oh, he had some dollars in his hand. I saw that. He was trying to steal something. >> Oh, not 100%. I was not watching him. I was doing something else in the office when they knocked my door. They were just asking me to ask him in Spanish for a receipt. Got it. >> So, I was not watching him at all. The only reason why I call you guys is cuz he he's starting to like kind of getting with me when I was >> Yeah. And he said he kind of like he was like, "Oh, you know, I have a gun on me, right?" And he started making comments like the one he made right now about taking me home with him. >> The moment Carlos exited the store, officers moved in with weapons drawn, repeatedly shouting commands. Do you have a phone or something? No. Does he know a number or somebody you can call? Yeah. The woodland's office. Does he have a wallet or anything? >> Okay. Okay. >> I think if I cast free sexual home >> Okay. So, does she want to send home? >> So, like we could >> So, okay. I'm going to talk to you briefly. Yeah. So, okay. He has no weapon on him, so we can at least tell you that. >> Okay. >> Okay. He said he was joking. That's obviously really stupid. >> Yeah. >> But Okay. Um, does Walmart want anything done with him? Do you want anything done with him? >> To be honest, I feel like what I was trying to do is just get him out cuz he was not listening to me. Um, >> I don't know what we can do. Like, can we press charges for it? >> There is a a disorderly conduct route we could go. >> Mhm. >> Um, but you would have to sign the complaint for it or be willing to participate for it. Not I don't think Walmart would do it. >> So, it's up to you. I can't tell you what to do. I've never been in this situation before. So, I don't really know like what would you recommend me? >> I can't I cannot recommend for you. I can't do anything. >> So, but given the circumstances, yes, it's it's your decision what you'd like to do. I just can't tell you one way or another. >> Once he get his info at least and let's go from here, let's go from there. Okay. >> Thank you. Okay. Yeah. >> What's his >> Carlos Guzman? >> What's that? >> Um, what's his address and birthday? He said he doesn't have Oh church he says around cast street. There's this store. This Mexican store. >> Oh, it's this one. He say it's around there. >> That's where he stays around. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, you think he doesn't know it? Maybe. >> What's his [snorts] Does he have a phone number or anything? >> Okay. Has he been drinking? >> Okay. All right, let's go. >> Just or stop. >> Um, all right, Marty. We're gonna take the sheet for her so he can sign it for she's not handicapped and then we'll bring it back to her. >> Okay. >> And then she >> That's all I'm doing. >> I'm just going to do pizza down this way. >> We got a inquiry on it, right? >> Yeah. That's the reason. >> Yeah. Otherwise, we can't >> say we're doing stated. >> She's saying she is going to work. All right, Juan, have a seat. We'll be done in a minute. Juan, have a seat. >> Oh, by the way, >> hey, yeah, good job. It's okay. Great. After confirming there was no weapon and documenting the incident, officers handled the situation by identifying the man as best they could and removing him from the store property. Most viewers were stunned by this level of defiance. Let's check out what they had to say down below. They only need to look up to see the biggest crime taking place. Stop putting entitled into every video, you people have worn the word out. You don't even know what it means. There is no entitlement going on in this video. It's completely misleading. Falsely claiming to have a firearm during a confrontation with store employees can lead to a police response and potential disorderly conduct or terroristic threat related charges even if no weapon is later found.
