States, cities, and federal agencies are involved in funding manhunts, and the specific distribution of costs can vary depending on the situation and participating agencies. The city, state, and federal agencies may be involved in a manhunt. However, cities often bear significant costs related to local law enforcement resources used in manhunts, especially over time for police officers. Large manhunts that have a longer duration require the city to utilize reserve budgets or seek supplemental funding. Manhunts can potentially take away from other city budgets. Large manhunts that have a longer duration require the city to utilize reserve budgets or seek supplemental funding. Manhunts can potentially take away from other city budgets. These manhunts are incredibly expensive. The Eric Freen manhunt in Pennsylvania cost Pennsylvania approximately $1.3 million a week totaling 11.7 million. The Boston Marathon bombings manhunt cost over $1 billion. This may be the most expensive manhunt in US history. This manhunt included the shutdown of a major city, the deployment of numerous agencies, FBI, US Border Patrol, etc. and the use of various resources. Antoine Massie and Derek Groves, who are the last two escapees from a New Orleans parish jail. The city of New Orleans is currently spending approximately $250,000 per week. The total amount of cost is potentially $2 million or more per week on resources, agencies, technology, and overtime to capture the individuals who escaped. Lastly is the manhunt for escaped convict Grant Harden from Arkansas North Central Unit Prison in Calico Rock, Arkansas. This manhunt doesn't have a estimated amount currently that is obtainable from authorities presiding over the search. However, based on the many resources utilized, I predict the cost of this manhunt to be in the millions a week easily.
