At 7:45 a.m. in the city of Overland, a police officer made an investigative stop in a parking lot in the 10700 block of Paige Avenue in the city of Overland. Police officers were alerted by license plate reader of a vehicle being operated by Eddie Washington as being wanted for assaulting law enforcement out of Caseyville, Illinois. During the investigative stop, the driver Eddie Washington ran from the police officers without a weapon. And during the process of the officer attempting to cuff the suspect, Eddie Washington was shot by the officer. Washington didn't have a weapon in this altercation. The suspect sustained a gunshot injury and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The two officers names and pictures in this investigation were not provided. Based on my analysis, the force used was unreasonable and unnecessary. The unarmed suspect did not have a weapon and didn't receive a charge of resisting with violence, so he obviously didn't make effort to harm the officers. A logical solution to assist in completing the arrest would have been to use a taser on the suspect instead of shooting him.
