Do you have your ID on you? No. Okay. So, you don't have no ID on you. Wait, identification on you at all right now? No. Okay. Well, let's step over here for a second. >> [snorts] >> Is that your um car? The white car? No. The white car inside is yours? No. Okay. So, as of now, you are being detained for ongoing investigation, okay? I don't need you to contact anybody cuz I don't need anybody to pull off or nothing like that. So, let's not do that. Okay. Okay. So, lock your phone and you have no identification on you. Okay. Okay. Again, so I just asked you not to contact anybody. So, I'm trying to be nice. Mhm. What what's going on? You're being detained at this time. Why? For we're going to we have an investigation to investigate. Apparently, you cashed a check that does not belong to you. Who me? Yes, you. No. Okay. Well, that's what they're alleging. So, until we can further investigate, you're being detained. Okay. Okay. And you have no identification on you at at all. So, you didn't give them any identification? Mhm. No license, no nothing. Yeah, I did, ma'am. Okay. So, where is it? In my purse. Okay. Hand it to me. I don't know if I don't have it. I don't think she gave it back. I can get it out of my purse. No, we can walk this way. Do you still have the identification that she gave you? I I handed it back. No, you didn't give it back. Check and ID, I just just gave it to Okay. Is this your ID? Your legal ID? No. I need that check. He's got it. Okay. The check. Where is the check at? Attempting to cash a check that does not belong to you at a USPS facility is a serious crime that can result in both state and federal charges. The investigation is often handled by the US Postal Inspection Service, who treat these offenses as major felonies. Do you still have the identification that she gave you? I I handed you that. No, you didn't give it back. Check and ID I just just gave you. Is this your ID? Your legal ID? No. I need that check. Please stop. Okay. The check. Where's the check at? Which one? The check you're trying to cash. Give it to the officer. Okay. So, again, is this your your legal ID? No. Okay. What is your real name at least? It's best to be honest at this point. I know. Okay. When's your date of birth? What's the time? What's your date of birth? I need you to get out the 10 8. So, what's your name? Abigail. Continue. What? Continue with your name. I'm just confused like what why is this going on? Like I just explained why we're standing right here. I just cashed my check. Okay. So, if I if you want to know what's going on, I'll explain it, but you keep being on the phone. So, that's probably why you don't understand what's going on cuz you keep being on the phone. And I don't know if you think this is a game or like a joking matter. This is something serious. Which is why I'm here cuz obviously if it wasn't serious, I wouldn't be here. So, do you need me to reiterate why I'm here? No. Okay. So, what's your real name? Do you know your driver's license number? No, I don't. Fake ID? No, I don't have it. Real name? Real date of birth? And she has other people in the vehicle. I'm going to see what she keeps communicating with. Where did you get this made? You said what? Where did you get this made? Using a fake ID to cash a fraudulent check at a USPS facility adds on another layer of serious state and federal felony charges. Because the USPS is a federal agency, the crime is often prosecuted in federal court where penalties are typically harsher. If a person is convicted of participating in a fraudulent check scheme using a fake ID at a USPS facility, the typical federal prison sentence is approximately 54 to 68 [music] months. In federal court, stacking mandatory sentences for identity theft on top of fraud charges is standard practice. Where'd you get this made? You said what? Where'd you get this made? You don't know? They already cashed it, so she already They already lost money. They already cashed it? >> Mhm. I didn't get no money, so they already cashed it. Didn't cash no check for me. Which Which check did you cash for me? I didn't cash no check for me. No, we had another fraudulent check just before you got here. This has to do with me though. No, we That wasn't regarding you. It was the same instance with the same ID, same everything. This ain't fake ID like yours. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. With me? No. Okay. You got anything in your purse? Mhm. Yes. You take your purse off. Turn around. Hold on. After you like the video, hype the video. Tap the video's description, tap the hype points button, and thanks to you, this video is now hyped. You got anything in your purse? Mhm. Yes. You take your purse off. Turn around. Okay, I'mma call I'mma I'mma call you right I'mma call you right back down. I'm still in the secret shopper. All righty. So, I I don't know what what's going on. >> It's a um It's a group. I don't know if it's a group or they didn't hit me. All of our post offices. So, we got Channing Tatum in the bank. Um the group that was just here. No, we can't cash a Treasury check without cash. So, Channing paid for it. He said, "Here, I got three thousand. I'mma buy three money orders." And then he says, "Oh, here. Cash this check." And the check That check was good. They're stolen They stole it from somewhere, but the ID is linked to a man somewhere. Mhm. Then we got another group that stole the Quincy driver. They just came from Quincy and told us I got the email. And then I just we know now, so they came and got them cuz this stuff comes out of their check. So, they said it's a tall, slender, black male with 12087 Treasury check. So, I think this one is for 15 something. Mhm. It's not their ID. If you run the ID, The one that we ran earlier was to a man. Mhm. They're fake IDs. They're stolen checks. So, to cash this treasury check y'all cash it and give them cash? Okay. Only the post office does that. Any any federal check can be cashed at a post office, which is why they're coming here. Okay. But they know we got to got to have the money in the drawer. So, now the the people have decided, I don't want to call them thieves, that if they buy a money order, they'll put that money in my drawer and now you can get the money back. You can cash the check. And we finally found it out. The postal service have been on it. Like Ryan right now is with that other group. I don't know if they found him, but whoever she rode in here with took off. That was that Y'all didn't see the car? super car. Yeah, he took off soon as y'all pulled up. Anything. So, what? It's a good job if it was legal. But it's not their check. They actually made a ID for that name on that check and the address. So, the check is good. However, They are not good. That's not She's not the person who this check The name on the check is a male. So, the check is good, returns to a male. However, obviously she's a female. So, the name on that and information on her ID is fake. Um Her ID goes to a male, too. Well, I'm not sure. I'm just ran it again. Oh, see that inspector ran it. Her name is totally different from Oh. the name she provided us. It's totally different from I heard her say that it was it wasn't her. I did hear her say that. >> Right. So, obviously she got an ID to match the name on the check and attempt to cash the check. Which is what the other person did. Right. How How did y'all Y'all just ran it was like, this is this is a male. Well, um Ryan, the inspector, he'll be here in a minute. He um he he alerted us that someone was trying to cash this check for 2340. At a different location. And they called the postmaster was sitting in my seat. I'm just I'm the station manager. She has off right now. And I stepped out to the window and I said, "Hey, don't cash this don't cash the treasury check." She said, "We just did." She got caught into it. He said, "Here, here's 3,000. We buy some money orders." She put the 3,000 in her drawer. And then he said, "Oh yeah, cash this check." She gave him that money right back cuz she didn't have enough to cash it cuz everybody uses debit and credit. Mhm. Ryan, when he got here, he ran the ID that she provided and it came back as a male. Mhm. And of course, that was a female that cashed the check. Right. So they're making an ID to go with that check. >> Right. The the money from this check, did y'all provide it to her or y'all Oh, no. Okay. >> give her the check. She still got the check. The the cash from the previous one, that was the one y'all were cash. Who cashed it? Okay. Now is a different incident. It was like 30 minutes ago. So they don't even give us a chance to read or to recoup cuz it's going to come out of Chin's check. I'm going to try to fight it. I'm going to try to use all this data to say, "Hey, we were swarmed by thieves." You know, I'm going to try to find some way where she doesn't have to pay. You you you don't know these days, you know what I'm saying? Oh, I'm going to fight it cuz I we ain't got that kind of money right here. We just started working. And and wait for hoping the dough don't come in here and shut us down. >> Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to be out there delivering no uh What he said I got to deliver? >> [laughter] >> What's some things you got once a year? What they call? Uh and once every 10 years. I can't think of the name of it. I don't know, but I know he's coming. >> Census. I'm going to be census out. >> census. Yeah, I would be census. All right. So, she attempted to get this check cashed. However, y'all caught it. So, y'all didn't provide her with any cash. However you did >> just to hold her because the inspectors are at a different location from the earlier. Mhm. Uh their office is not too far. It's the next exit up. Mhm. >> [clears throat] >> Uh and you aware who they are? The inspectors? Mhm. Um They're the federal agents for the post. Well, they work for actually the They are the federal police force for They carry a badge and everything. I I've never talked to one in person. I I've heard like they >> real cool. They theft the mail and stuff and then they have >> don't want to When they show up the file is this thick. Uh-huh. And I get them for uh stealing my mail, Yeah. stealing my gas cards. You know, it happens. Okay. Well, I'm going to call my supervisor just to make sure what I got. I know the other deputy talked to him, so I know she was asking him how long it would be um before someone gets here. I didn't hear it. Okay. Um so, you're trying to find out if you need to have her hand her or not. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, obviously we got enough to detain her cuz I mean, just based off this she got false a false ID and attempting to um utter this check, so You got all the way up until then we cash it. Yeah, you got to cash it. >> any federal checks. >> Right. And then the the money order they go get a money order here? Yes. And we we sell money orders for a fee, but they actually never expire. People have went to the Goodwill and bought a dresser and it was a money order in there from 19 whatever and they still could cash it. Mhm. Okay. But, we can't cash her check if we don't if we haven't sold anything to generate that revenue. We got to sell some stamps or postage. Mhm. So, to generate revenue and we're not a high-volume office like the main, it's hard to get three grand. Mhm. So, we can't cash it cuz we don't have none in our drawer. >> Right. So, what they said is, "Oh, here's three grand to buy a money order." Now I got three grand in my drawer. Mhm. Oh, can you cash this check for three grand and I give you the three grand back? Uh-huh. Okay. It's kind of like that thing like give me a change for a dollar. Yeah. Okay, well let give me give me two quarters and five dimes and then you know, before you know it you didn't get me $50. So. Makes sense. Yeah. Okay. It's never happened since. And these two things are going to be the biggest things to to seize for um from the cell phone cuz they're they I can be I can work with your detective unit and see if we can get a search warrant at home. Okay. But this is consistent with what she was doing this that week and all of that. Yeah, that's what I was saying. Is it mine? Yes, sir. Okay, great. Thanks for grabbing that phone. You said it belonged to somebody else's phone, right? Uh, it's the employee's car here. It should last for a while. You know, it's it's on 63%. So. Okay. I don't have the details of the suspect's charges. However, passing a fake ID with a stolen check and allegedly being linked to an organized check scam ring are serious charges, especially when charged as a federal crime. Most likely, the federal investigators will search the suspect's phone as part of USPS check scam investigations. I'm sure the detectives will soon find out who the suspect was communicating with during the investigation. I am the Prime Analyzer and I know that you enjoy this channel.
