On March 23rd, 2021, chaos exploded outside the Olympic division of the Los Angeles Police Department. Without warning, 35-year-old Nakia Brown approached the front entrance of the police station and suddenly drew a firearm. Officers on duty trained to expect the unexpected, but rarely encountering such a direct threat at their own doorstep, immediately shouted commands, urging Brown to drop the weapon. All righty. All right. Thank you very much. Hey, no problem, sir. Take care. for you. Drop it. Drop it. Drop it. Put the gun down. Put the gun down. Hey, put a help call. Put the gun down. Put the gun down. Make sure nobody reinforcements from across the city responded to the unfolding crisis. Their sirens piercing the tense atmosphere. Officers continually tried to reach Brown with verbal commands, pleading with him to put the weapon down and surrender peacefully. Yet Brown remained defiant, refusing to disarm, his presence a powder keg, ready to ignite. The situation hit a breaking point when Brown suddenly raised the weapon and pointed it directly at the officers. In that hearttoppping moment, the standoff shifted into survival mode. Officers opened fire, determined to neutralize the immediate threat. inside us. Drop the back. Back here. I know. Get covered. Get covered. Drop the gun. Walking in front of the station. Listen. Only later during the investigation did they make a chilling discovery, the gun Brown had brandished was a replica. In the aftermath, Brown was charged with brandishing a replica firearm in a threatening manner and resisting arrest. Given the severity of his actions and prior criminal history, the court handed him a heavy sentence, 31 years in prison, marking a dramatic end to a day that could have easily spiraled into an even greater tragedy. However, this next case unfolds a woman who opened fire inside a Bristol Police Station on October 5th, 2021. An unsettling and chaotic scene unfolded inside the Bristol Police Department in Connecticut. It was a quiet day until 51-year-old Suzanne Lre stormed through the doors, armed with a loaded gun, her mind clouded by heavy intoxication. Without warning, she opened fire, shattering the calm and sending officers scrambling for cover. The shots echoed through the station as officers dove behind reinforced bulletproof glass. The only thing standing between them and deadly chaos. There's already guys. We got Do not move. Brian, are these Hey, are these windows bulletproof? Shots fired. Are these windows bulletproof? We got two cars going on in the front. You got this [ __ ] That's her right here. Right. Laptop. Yep. Get down. Get down on the ground. Can you see yours, guys? Nope. She just went back. Get down on the ground. Okay. She just went to the right. I have a gun in her hand right now. The officers recognizing the potential for a suicide by cop situation held their ground with caution and patience. They didn't want to escalate things unnecessarily and risk an even greater tragedy. Minutes felt like hours as they waited for an opportunity to safely intervene. Finally, a breakthrough. LRA dropped her firearm. The officers saw their opening and acted swiftly. They moved out from behind cover, deployed a taser, and managed to subdue her without further incident. Did you see your gun? Nope. She just went back. Get down on the ground. Okay. She just went to the right. Not having a gun in her hand right now. Brian. Okay. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Stop. Stop. Everyone good? Yep. Good. After the adrenaline died down and the scene was secured, officers discovered that LRA had been heavily intoxicated during the attack, her judgment completely clouded by alcohol. It was clear that she had entered the station that day with the intention of ending her life, just not by her own hand. Initially, LRA faced serious charges, including attempted murder. However, through court proceedings and plea negotiations, she ultimately plead guilty to attempted first-degree assault for her reckless and dangerous actions that day. Suzanne Lra was sentenced to 12 years in prison, closing a case that could have easily ended in even greater tragedy. If you thought that was worse, this is because you didn't know about this case which unfolds a shootout between Chicago police and carjacking suspect. On July 30th, 2020 in Chicago, police officers were investigating a stolen Porsche when they encountered Lavel Jordan, a convicted felon on parole. Jordan, who had stolen the car at gunpoint just days earlier, was confronted by officers as he attempted to get into the vehicle. After a brief scuffle, he was taken into custody and transported to the police station. [Applause] You're bossy. I got to tell you. Wait, wait, wait. I got a speed drop, sir. I got speed. Okay. Okay. Jordan drew the hidden firearm, sparking an intense shootout inside the police station's parking lot. Over 60 shots were fired in a chaotic exchange, and several officers were injured, one severely. A fellow officer who had been shot in the neck was left in a coma and another was saved by his bulletproof vest. [Music] [Applause] Tell one the police 101 back. 101 officer down. Roll ambulance. He was sentenced to 31 years behind bars for his actions. But wait for this case, which unfolds Darien Parker Bell's violent outburst. On February 25th, 2022, a routine day at the District 5 Milwaukee Police Department took a terrifying turn when 22-year-old Darien Parker Bell entered the building. Initially, Parker Bell appeared composed, approaching the front desk with questions regarding an active investigation. Officers, following standard procedure, calmly informed him that they could not release specific details about ongoing cases. At first, the encounter seemed uneventful, just another member of the public seeking answers. However, what happened next was anything but ordinary, almost without warning. Parker Bell's demeanor shifted dramatically. His calm exterior melted away, replaced by a sudden, uncontrollable rage. Before officers could react, Parker Bell pulled out a firearm and opened fire inside the station. Grab shoot. Good. 5324. We got shots fired at the district. Get down. Get down. Multiple officers engaged him in a coordinated response, aiming to neutralize the threat before anyone could be seriously harmed. Within moments, Parker Bell was struck by several bullets, causing him to collapse on the station floor. Officers quickly moved in, securing the scene and ensuring no further danger remained. Miraculously, no officers were killed during the exchange, and Parker Bell survived his injuries. Drop the gun. Drop the gun. Shots fired. Shots fired. Drop the gun. Drop the gun. Stay with us. You're going to stay with us now. Come on. Anybody else? Anybody else with you? You need a tourniquet. Get a tourniquet on his right arm. Where's here? I'm I'm grabbing his ID. I'm grabbing his wallet. Take his ID. Yeah, we're good. His gun. Following his arrest, Darien Parker Bell faced serious charges, including attempted homicide and reckless endangerment. But as investigators dug deeper, it became clear that Parker Bell's actions stemmed from profound and untreated mental health issues. A thorough psychiatric evaluation, revealed the extent of his psychological instability, which played a significant role in his outburst. Parker Bell plead guilty to reckless endangerment and was sentenced not to prison, but to 30 years in a secure mental health institution where he would undergo extensive treatment for his violent tendencies. A grim resolution to an incident that could have ended far worse. But hold on your seats because this next case is more shocking than the others. On September 14th, 2023, Kishan Sims, a 27-year-old man, entered the Youngstown Police Department in Ohio. He initially appeared to be seeking an appointment to speak with someone. But when officers informed him that an appointment was necessary, Sims became aggressive. He baited one officer into a confrontation and quickly escalated into physical violence. Okay. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. Talk to like a chief or something. The chief only talks to people if they make a an appointment. They only make you have to make an appointment with the chief to see him. Have to call him or something. Okay. You can call him. You know what? Let me call somebody from my [Applause] She's not in her office. Yeah, but everybody you need to talk to that you want to talk to are uh you have to make an appointment to see them. Well, that's the way it's going to be. You can say no all you want. I'll stand here. Okay. I have someone who actually needs help. Can you have them? Sir, don't be difficult. Just just there's no one that will talk to you. Probably will. No. Yeah. Because you're talking about some kind of manifestation. It's tell is that you know what that tells me? What? That you're mental. You're [ __ ] Say that [ __ ] You're mental. My face. Say it. You have to leave now, sir. Or what? You have to leave now, sir. Call someone right the [ __ ] I'm not calling anyone. You have to leave. Why? Leave. Make me leave. Leave. Make me leave. Make you leave. Yeah. Make me leave. Make sure this is on. You have to leave, sir. Make me leave. Say that again. You called me [ __ ] Say that again. You're mental. Sims viciously attacked the officer, forcing other officers to intervene. Backup arrived, and after a brief struggle, Sims was subdued and arrested. Yeah. He came in wanting to speak to somebody and he starts talking about some kind of manifestation happening. So I told him, "Nobody's going to talk to you cuz you're acting like a mental." He got mad because I called him. Exactly. All right. Um, we got him. We're probably going to need a transport. Probably not. And he does have some uh mental health. No, I doubt. All right, bro. All right, we're going out the front door. Come on. Fix these handcuffs. You guys are getting [Applause] and everything. Sims was charged with aggravated robbery, two counts of assault on a police officer, obstructing official business, and menacing. Despite the severity of the incident, Sims was ultimately sentenced to only 3 years of probation and mandated mental health treatment after it was determined that he was suffering from serious mental health issues at the time of the attack.
