How you doing, guys? Good. How much >> Hey, I just saw you the other day. Yeah, was it yesterday? Uh yeah, yesterday, I think. Yeah. What's in the cooler? Shrimp. Shrimp? Okay. And this cooler? Yeah. All right. So, how how much how many how much is this do you think? We tried to fill up a 5-gallon bucket, but it ended up breaking on us, so we just did the best we could, and all our ice melted, so we called it quits. Oh, it broke through. Okay. >> Yeah. So, let's see. I'm going to come up My arms are just like broken right now. So, you guys know you obviously know it's it's one 5-gallon bucket, right? Yeah. Is the limit, okay. So, let me see. Try and eyeball as best I can. That's basically where we were doing. We had a bunch of ice, but it just kind of all melted. It's down there on the bottom. All right. All right, so I'm going to I showed you my fishing license. I showed you mine. Can I come get a bucket in your truck? Um yep. Do you want to grab that if you if it's available? Cuz there's has a big hole in the bottom of it. So. Obviously does not work. No, we were trying, but Um He saw your license. I'll see yours real quick. Mine's on the app. All right, that's fine. Do I need my ID, too? No, you're fine. Thank you. This is Robbie's All right. Is that his truck? Yeah, that's Robbie's. All right, so what I'm going to do, as soon as he can come back with a bucket, and I'm going to just fill it up. All right? What if we're a tiny bit over? If you're a tiny bit over, I I got some wiggle room, but could be we'll see. It's obviously hard to gauge inside of That's why we were Yeah, I I can see it's obviously broken, so you We literally that we My hands are hurting cuz of the little steps. Yeah, yeah. I we tried a couple times. Yeah. So, we'll see. If it's close, if it's like a little bit over, I don't it's fine. I I understand. I don't really care about that, but if you got like two buckets full, kind of a problem. You know what I mean? If we were separate, It's one bucket per vessel. So, you're both on the vessel. Right? >> you. I got you. Yeah. So, if you guys were on the >> on separate boats. If you were on separate boats, you know what I mean? We were way over that, I'm pretty sure. All right. You want me to get my hands in there? No, no. Is the bottom broken out of the white bucket? >> Yeah, that's why they couldn't they can't use it. But, what I'll do, yeah, that's what I'm going to do. I got to get my hands ready on Yeah, that's fine. What if we're over? I mean, my hands are kind of dirty on this. All right. All right, any ice left in there? Little bit like that, but like that. It's Let's say that's your 5-gallon bucket. Do you think there's another 5-gallon bucket in there? Probably. A half one, yeah. A half one? >> Probably more. Probably more. So, all right. Do you want to go grab another bucket? You have another one? Yep. I mean, we got I mean, it doesn't matter at this point. That's way over. If it was like let's say if you had like this much shrimp over, but that's you still got That's what I'm going to do. inches another couple inches down, and then We like it in this cooler. All right. So, I'll grab both of your IDs. All right, thank you. If you guys have ever been in trouble before, I'll need your fishing license. That's fine. No, no. How big of a deal is this? So, anything resource related is misdemeanor. So, every fish bag limit, size limit, Is there any way to work with you on me on a little bit? I mean, I'll see, but give me a give me a few minutes, all right? Just I'll go back to my truck. Um It's just you two on board, right? That's it. Just you two. Okay. It was just us with two nets for like 3 hours. It's Well, I didn't think that we were doing that crazy. Yeah. We came out here just after dark, you know? Yeah. Not good, yeah. I'll talk stuff, man. Huh? I'll talk to you later. All right. He's going to come back, right? Way over. Told you. Probably probably two and a half, three buckets worth of shrimp. Wow. Malcolm's going to go fill the other bucket just to prove Is that a a black bucket that He has two black buckets. Might have disappeared Cuz there's only two out of three there. You want to? Yeah, if you want to just fill it up, I'm going to I want to see how many buckets they have. So, probably around two and a half buckets, almost three. Yeah. I'll be right back. All right. Yeah, it's it's easily it's two full buckets and maybe a half. So. Are we both getting one, then? What? Are we both Are we both getting the same charge, then? Yeah. Um You're both getting citations, okay? It's the same citation for the same thing. All right? Um this what I'm putting out now is a property receipt cuz we have to take the shrimp as evidence. You know I've never had a prior warning, nothing. They should take all the shrimp. Yeah, because it's you can't take a little and for the way the court works is um bag limit. So, I have to be able to prove you guys were over the bag limit of your 5 gallons. So, therefore I have I have to take everything. Cuz if I didn't take everything, and I just kept shrimp with 5 gallons, they'd be like, "Well, they have their 5 gallons." That's That's how the courts kind of work. Just I'm just explaining that's that's what I have to do. Um It's It's just too much. That's it. If Like I said, if it was just a little bit over, I can I can have wiggle room because I understand your bucket broke, but two and a half, two and a quarter buckets is roughly I just broke my back for it. That's all I'm worried about. I just want to get them home and start popping them so I can get some I I understand that. I I was going to suggest, you know, what you could have done if if your bucket was broken, obviously, but put it on the deck, drop the shrimp in. They're not going to fall to the bottom on the deck. You know, you could have done that. And then measured it that way. We were kicking butt, man, for 3 hours. And I've been out here every night >> All right. days waiting for this to happen, you know what I I understand, but it's your duty as a fisherman to make the steps to take the steps necessary to know what you're getting. Right? Again, it's just it's just too much. That's all. That's all, but uh if you want to just hang out over there, I'll be I'll be right with you. I'm just printing this out, and uh So, you got court dates, like I'll have to go to court and everything? Yeah, they'll they'll contact you. Um there's I don't have a court date because they get so backed up. It could be in a month, it could be in 2 months, could be in 2 months. Um but they'll notify you. And then is it a ticket, too? No, it's just a court date. So, that's what you do. You I go there and explain myself? >> You show up, you can hire an attorney if you'd like. You can go there by yourself. It's a judge makes a decision. Okay. They determine it's no more than $500 a fine. If they can they can fine you anywhere from $1 to $500. So, it just depends. That's pretty much it. Usually, I'll be honest with you, they're not super hard-hitting. I I've had people with crazy fish cases and stuff like that, and but a lot of the times, and this is not like a guarantee, but a lot of the times what they do is called um adjudication withheld, which basically means like you're not guilty, but you're going to pay a fine. Yeah. Now, if I acted like one of them other kids and just said that I was on the dock, and he picked me up, it was a We had a bucket apiece. We were a little over. It's about vessel. So, when you That's the thing. If if you if I saw you on the dock with your bucket, Yeah. and he, you know, on the boat, separate. But because it's all on the boat, that's why. Right? So, um I I just saw that work for somebody else just now, so Oh, you did? >> Yeah. Where? At the Mayport. Kid with his dad he started arguing saying he had pictures of himself on the dock. Uh-huh. Yeah, and then he just like you know gets away. I was really >> I'm not sure about I'm not sure I'm not sure about that, but I I didn't stop them. Jeez. So, there's yours. This is your copy. This is your copy. Oops. So, because I'm going to give this to you because it's your boat. Um that's just a property receipt. Okay? And what I >> Can I get my property back once it's Potentially, yeah. Are you guys going to be keeping that on ice? >> We freeze it, yeah. Freeze it? I'm going to bring it to the office and freeze it. Okay. So, that's up to the judge though if they decide to do that, okay? But, we freeze it all and if >> know why you guys and it's just I don't know how the whole process works. You guys keep it frozen. Money after money getting spent. That's what the state requires us to do. I I don't make the rules. I just I just work, okay? Um so, I need a signature for the property receipt. It's just saying that you know what your property is going to be. What if we end up getting left with a 5-gallon bucket? No, nothing. Nothing? We have to take all of it cuz you have over the bag limit. Dude, you're kidding? No, I'm not kidding. That's how I told you you have we had to prove you were over the bag limit and that's what the that's what the court requires us to do. If I could if I could take a picture and throw out one bucket and let you keep a bucket, I would, but I can't do that. That's >> I I I call in somebody with over wahus and he gets caught with over wahus and they take just just a couple. I can't leave him his whole I can't I can't Listen, I I can't speak for other officers. I can't speak for if someone does something wrong, but hold on I need signatures for the citations, all right? So, this is This is for you, Mark. Signature down there. It's not an admission of guilt. Just you understand that you have the they'll mail you about the court dates and you will show up as they request. And this is the same thing for you. Just need a signature at the bottom right there. All right. I agree to appear or sign there. Yeah, if they when they give you they'll mail you or call you. Officer Bepples. Bepples? Yes, sir. It's on the citation. I'm just like I I'm sorry. Listen, I'm doing my job. This is what I'm This is what I'm hired to do. If anybody else had if I caught anybody else with over 10 gallons of shrimp, I >> You just said earlier the kid I Did I stop that kid? I I wasn't there. You guys are good to go. All right, be safe. Have a good night. You too, thank you. Not happy. Both individuals received a misdemeanor charge for harvesting over the legal limit of shrimp. Mark entered a 3-month misdemeanor diversion program which he successfully completed and the state dropped the charges. Nicholas pled no contest, his adjudication was withheld, and he was ordered to pay $299 in costs and fees. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to Arrest Cam.
