Let's go digging this out. I don't want to. >> You want me to take them out? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. Okay. Is there something? Well, he'll talk now. What's up? >> Yeah. Just bring him out. >> Okay. All right. You have your fishing license, right? >> Yeah, we got our license. Gotcha. >> Oh, there's the sticker. Let's just go. >> All right. All right. All right. What happened to the other half of this? Uh, probably can't be right on the hood. Those are uh So, those were yellow. Uh we want a fishing part right now like was it like yesterday? >> Yeah. >> All right. Who caught these? >> Uh it was me. Uh right over there on the uh down at the bridge. All right. Any other bugs? Nothing else in here? >> That's all that's all me. >> Got it. Okay. So, what' you do with this? The other half again? Uh, it's it was probably cut out either the crab traps or all the web. >> Got it. All right. Do you have an ID and your fishing license as well? >> Uh, yeah. My guess bag? >> Yeah, you're good. >> Any firearms in the bag? >> I do have a uh Cold 45 1911. >> Got it. Is it near your wallet? >> Uh, no. It's in this main pouch right here. Got >> it. Where's your wallet? >> Right here. >> All right. Slowly. Okay. Yep. wallet right here. >> All right, you're good. All right, you can zip it up. Got >> So, there's my license. >> Okay. >> Or well, driver's license. >> Gotcha. >> Uh oh. Oh, sorry. I'm goofy. Uh my phone right here. So, >> I'm going to put your bait back. That way it doesn't boil that. >> Okay. For sure. Yeah, you got it. So, I assume there might be something wrong. >> What? >> With the >> uh just pull up your license, Jamaica. Okay. Fishing license. You have a lobster license? >> I didn't know you had to have a lobster license. >> Okay. >> Uh >> 418 fish. >> Fishing. >> Do you have a fishing license? >> I do. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. It was on my phone. So, we're we're not from here. We're from North Carolina. Um >> Okay. Got it. All right. Let me just run you through. Okay. Give me a second. >> Yeah, sure. >> 4118. >> I got a North Carolina deal. >> Ma'am, do you have fish or appreciate it? Thank you. All right, Mr. Jacob. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Just making sure that's All right, Jacob. I'm going to ask you a few questions. >> Sure. >> Okay, then I'm going to ask you a second round of questions. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Before we ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. With these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me now? >> Uh, sure. >> Okay. 418. Your subject is Valley, North Carolina clear. >> Copy. Thank you. Switch back to one. >> All right. >> Control one. >> So, we know what these are. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Um, how'd you catch them? >> Uh, with a crab net. Uh, it's little flat net uh right below the bridge down there on the uh little concrete embangment. You know what I mean? >> Got it. Um, do you have lobster license? Uh, I do not have a lobster license. >> Okay. Do you know anything about lobster season right now? >> Uh, nope. >> Okay. So, lobster season is closed. >> Okay. >> Gotcha. Did not. >> Do you have a measuring device to measure lobster? >> I do. Uh, right here. Uh, so we looked it up. The uh the size was uh 3 in or 3 in of the carus. So, I measured from right here uh or tip of the horns basically. >> Okay. >> Uh right there or back a little bit. >> So, boom. Right there. And the carropus right there. Right at three. >> Got it. Okay. >> So, I mean, give or take might be like half or sorry, quarter of an inch off or something like that. But >> my measurement I mean I thought they were legal. Uh, were there any that were undersized? >> None of these are legal legal. They're all under sized. Okay. >> That is not the appropriate measuring device. Okay. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> All right. Um, that mangrove right there. Do do you know what fish that was? This one here? >> Uh, what the fish? Uh, no. Was not aware. >> Okay. Do you know what this is? >> Uh, that right there is a stone crab cl. >> Okay. Do you have a license to harvest stone crab? >> Was not aware that you needed a license for harvesting. So, stone crab, lobster, you know, [clears throat] you do need to have a license to harvest. Okay. >> And I believe it might be out of season as well. Okay. So, we're going to check up on that now. >> So, you don't have you don't have a lobster permit. You have undersized lobster. You have undersized mangro snapper. You have stone crab as well. Okay. You don't have a permit to >> to harvest it. Okay. We're out of season right now. Season doesn't start right now until the big season doesn't start until August 5th. Okay. August 6th. >> Uh so and we're about to hit our mini season. It's going to be in near the end of July. >> Okay. >> A mini season. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Were you aware we had a mini season? >> Was I was not aware of that either. No. >> Got it. Okay. >> Yeah, cuz we're just on vacation right now. So, we decided to go night fishing. >> Got it. I understand. So, ma'am, do you have an idea as well? >> Yeah. >> Got it. >> What were we what were we asking? So, I saw you put uh pull out a tool to to measure. Yes. Um what exactly is that tool called? >> That is a lobster gauge. Okay. >> Oh. >> So, I I have one in my car. I'll show you exactly the ones that you're supposed to be using. Okay. >> Okay. >> This is also this just our our agency issued gauge. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, um let's go to my car. Do a little bit of paperwork. I'll send you right back. Okay. >> Okay. All right. Uh should we throw these back? I know that one's still alive. I'm not sure about those two. Yeah, this one's alive. We'll take him, but I'm sure that one might survive, but we'll get to that bridge once we cross it. Okay, let's pull up that uh trap as well. Okay. >> Oh. Uh yeah. Yeah. All right. >> So, to harvest crab as well, just so you know, you do have to have an a permit to harvest crab as well. Just >> That's insane. Oh, >> cuz North Carolina isn't like that. Um my my fault for mistaking that pull up. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, if you want to pull up, you can. Um, so you have to have a separate license for crab, lobster, >> and is there anything >> crab, lobster, stone crab, lobster, fish, uh, saltwater fishing. >> Okay. >> Yeah. If you want, you can pull it up. Do >> the traps. >> Yeah. >> I mean, she she's got it. There's only two down there. >> Oh, yeah. >> All right, man. Let's go. It's a little bit of a walk over there. >> Okay. All right. >> No fish tonight. >> Not one. >> No. >> No. >> All right, gentlemen. >> Gotcha. How long are you going to be here for >> here? >> Yeah. >> Uh, this is actually our last day. Whatever. >> All right. All right, Jacob. So, if you want, just you can hang out right here. You can lean up against the car. Okay. With your back. Okay. >> Okay. >> Lean up against the car. >> Yeah, man. You can just relax. Okay. >> Okay. Do >> you said do you have your phone on you? >> Uh yeah, I do. >> Yeah. Let me see the license your saltwater license again. >> Let me turn on my my uh lights on my car. All right, man. >> Hey, Sergeant. How you doing? >> Hey, question. Uh so the the guy that I'm um I have right now, he's uh he's out of state. Uh, North Carolina. Um, is that much of an issue? >> What? >> Uh, is that much of an issue since he's out of state? >> Uh, North Carolina. >> Uh, three undersized lobster, stone crab, undersized mangro snapper. No. Uh, >> lobster. >> Three. Three undersized lobster out of season. Uh, had no lobster gauge. No lobster permit. Uh, undersized mangrove. Has a stone crab as well. Oh, that's out of season. >> Yes, sir. And he and he doesn't have a crabbing. >> You want to take this one to jail? >> Sir, >> you want to take him to jail? >> Me, too. >> Uh, it's him and his girlfriend. >> It's him and his girlfriend. He He caught them all. >> Hey, Adrian. Let's grab some coffee. >> Yep. >> Jacob. Hey, man. Do me a favor. >> Hey, what's up? >> Turn around. Put your hands on your back. >> You can put your phone there. >> I got it. >> You got it. >> Yeah. I won't I won't >> just put your hands. >> Uh out of curiosity, am I being detained or arrested? >> You're under arrest for possession of undersized lobster without a license, undersized mangro snapper, and also for the stone crab. And also for your harping crab without a license, all that stuff. I'll explain to you more. Okay. >> Okay. Go ahead and face me. >> Okay. >> And then walk back until you kind of feel it up against There you go. And swing your feet in. >> All right. >> And it takes a little bit of a wiggle, but you can get there. >> Yep. Now, this knee, you're going to want to try to get in in there just for the second >> and then you can spread out once the door is closed, if that makes sense. Okay. >> Don't slide those underneath you. >> Okay. >> That won't make life better. >> Stuff or you gonna >> um I'll sit with him if you don't mind. So you can take it because I have no idea where I'm going. >> So I would have to work my way through the people on the bridge. >> Let me ask >> Taylor. >> Yes. >> So Jacob's going to be is being placed in he's placed into custody. Okay. >> Okay. >> So I'm going to be transporting him to the PK jail. >> Okay. All right. So, it's uh mile marker just by the Plantation Key Jail. Okay. That's where he's going to be. Yeah. Okay. So, he'll be seeing a judge tomorrow in the morning. Okay. And then from there, they'll see if they can move on or not. That's, you know, normally up to to the judge. Okay. So, these are his things. Okay. His wallet and his vape. >> So, like I said, just put on your phone plantation key jail and it should just pop right up. You're good. See you, dude. Appreciate your help. Thank you. >> Yeah. Be safe, bro. Bye. >> Thank you. Likewise. for now possessing a lobster permit. Okay, this is just a regular citation right here. Okay, you don't have to take this to court. >> All right, so we'll put this right up here for now. And then this one, this one right here. Okay, if you want to look at it really quick, that way I can explain everything to you. Okay, you can open it up. I filled it up just like a little book. All right, so you know, you have uh there's five different charges. Okay. The one is for harvesting uh undersized lobster. Uh harvesting lobster out of season, not possessing a measuring device for lobster. And the other one is going to be for harvesting stone crab out of season as well. Okay. If you look in the back of your citation right here, just like mine, we have the same copy. Okay. You have a mandatory court date on the 17th of July, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. Okay. Failure to appear in court is going to get you a warrant out for your arrest. Okay. So, what I need from you is a signature. Your signature is not an admission of guilt. Simply that you understand everything that I explained to you. court on the 17th of July, 2024, 8:45 a.m. before the honorable Judge Hamilton. >> You show up to get a warrant written out for your arrest. >> Correct. >> Do you understand everything I've explained to you? >> Yes. >> Will you sign my copy? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Just also I'm just going to let you know your signature is not admission of guilt. >> Right. >> Only that you understood everything I've explained to you. >> Right. Right. >> Okay. So, once again, this copy. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Do you have any other questions for me? Um, if I have a scheduled court date and um, sorry. Um, does this mean I'll be able to um, get released soon? >> So, you're more likely going to go before a judge in the morning, but then you're going to have to come back again for court for the one that's already set up. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. I'm I'm just >> I got man >> going with things. >> All right, man. Have a better evening. Right. >> All right. >> In the end, Jacob was charged with harvesting stone crabs during a closed season, possession of an undersized mangrove snapper, and three counts of possession of out of season crawfish. Through a negotiated plea deal, he pled no contest to possession of out of season stone crab. He was sentenced to 6 months of probation with the possibility of early termination. To qualify for early termination, he was required to take a Florida Fish and Wildlife Regulations course and pay $38 in cost and fees. Approximately 2 weeks later, he met all of the conditions and his probation was terminated. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to Arrest Cam.
