All right. Thank you. >> Today, for the first time ever on our channel, we are featuring Ohio wildlife officers. We have three different interactions to share, and the last one gets tense when one angler is less than thrilled to be receiving a citation. >> How we doing, sir? >> Good. doing some fishing today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How many trout did you catch? >> Five. >> Okay. Um, are they in the cooler there? >> Yeah. >> Do you mind if I take a look at them? >> I can, if you don't mind, I can open your door and pull it out so you don't have to get in traffic. Do you have your fishing license and your driver's license? >> How long were you down there? >> About an hour. >> Okay. >> A little bit more. I got there at 10:30. >> How many did you catch total? is 35. I gave one away cuz >> Okay. All righty. >> Good afternoon. >> All right. Let me If you don't mind, I'll open your door and just pull your cooler out. >> Okay. >> I don't want you have to jump out in traffic there. >> What'd you catch him on? >> Good. Okay. Um, so the reason I stopped you is cuz you kept five trout or I mean six. Sorry. >> You said you gave one away. >> Yeah, I hooked him really deep. >> Okay. You know what the limit is? >> Yeah. Five. >> Okay. So, you can't keep six. >> I was just going to throw it back, but that's why I didn't keep six. >> Okay. I gave it to a guy. >> What was the guy wearing that you gave it to him? >> I didn't know you couldn't give a fish away. >> No. So, you can only you can only keep your limit. You could give your five away if you wanted, but you can't keep more than your limit. >> Okay. All righty. Um, do you know the guy you gave it to? >> I'm all righty. Um, give me a minute. You're going to get a ticket for the over bag. Um, okay. >> But let me write it up real quick and uh I'll get back with you. Okay. >> All right. >> Should we take one of these to make up for the >> can? Yeah, cuz that'd be part of his we gave away. Yeah, >> I get a bag. Give me a bag. I'll take care of it. >> Okay. There's a What's going to happen is we're going to take one of these trout to make up for you know you can't keep six. One of them we probably won't go find. Um so we're going to take one of these and then uh he this officer here is going to deal with that while I write up the ticket. Okay. Um roger. First piece of paperwork I'm going to give you. This is just a hand receipt saying that I took the trial from you today. Um I'll give you a copy of it. basically just a paper trail on it. If you can sign right here on the receipt from What's that? Yeah, it's the 14th. March 14th. Okay, there's your driver's license back. I had no idea. I was just catching them and throw them back. You can't do that. >> You You can catch them and throw them back, but you can't keep them whether you give it to somebody or whatever. You're >> no idea. >> No, cuz each person's allowed their daily limit. So, >> yeah. I try to I wanted to come up figure out the kids and figure out Yeah, you can go up there and catch, you know, if you're catching and releasing, you can catch them all day long if you want. Um, but unless they get release that, you can only keep five regardless of who they go to cuz you're still the one. You know, some people are better fishermanmen than other people. And one person could catch the whole person's the whole lakes's limit if it was the other way around. Okay, here's your copy of the ticket. I'll go over it real quick with you. The top portion is all your information there. Um, there's two ways to take care of it. It's like a speeding ticket. You can show up at 1:00 in the afternoon on the 31st of March. That's a Monday. It's the Adams County Municipal Court. You just drove by it down there in West Union. Um, you'll go down to the basement. If you don't want to show up at that date and time, you can pay it out. It's $250. Just make sure you pay it or show up by the 31st. If you don't do either one, there'll be a warn out for your arrest. But if you pay it, you don't have to show up. >> The court phone numbers at the bottom. Do my p how do I pay just put in the mail? >> You can mail it to them. You can do it online. It won't show up online for a couple days until I get the ticket to them or if you call down there, I think they'll take payment over the phone, too. >> It's the Adams County Courthouse. >> Okay. >> Any questions? >> Nope. That's a bad right there. >> Yep. Unfortunately, just make sure if you go back out or whatever, just >> back out. I didn't know that. Sorry about that. >> Yeah. Yep. So, all righty. Have a good one. >> Good deal. Two of you on board. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I'm getting board. Yeah. Be great. >> Yeah. >> You running a trip today or just fun fishing? >> Okay. You mind jumping up in there? >> I can do whatever you need to do. >> Yeah, I would. I got bad head. >> Yeah. >> How many of these were there? >> There were two. There's 12 fish in there. >> Okay. I appreciate that. >> Yeah. No, I can do it for it. It ain't no big deal. Here's your little bucket, man. Yeah, I appreciate it. I appreciate it. man. I counted three times, but I got 13. >> Well, let's count again. So, there's three. There's three in your bucket, right? >> Okay. >> Now, I might have They're still in here. So, I'm going to pull them all out. So there's four, five, there's six. And there's seven 8 9 10. >> Okay. So long as there's only 30. All right. >> Well, it's not the end of the world. >> I do apologize for that. >> You can't have more than 12. Somebody's going to get. So, >> which one you want? Is this one the smallest? I'll take the smallest one or whichever one you don't want. You got to take that one. >> You just pitch them right on the ground. I'll get them. >> Not the end of the world, man. You just pay a waiver through the mail. >> All right. >> Um, >> that's fair. >> Okay. You got driver's license on you? >> Take a look at your fishing license, too. Is your Is your client here still or he take off? >> He's over there. >> Okay. About to take off. >> Okay. Just he gets over here, I'll need to see his license, too. >> They're not coming over here. Call >> Yeah. Why don't Why don't you just need to see fishing license? Uh, I'll just look yours up. You're good. But I'll need to see his. I'll be right back with you. Oklahoma 1655 going north. >> He take off on you. >> No, he's coming. >> Okay. >> All right. No worries. No worries. >> He better not take off. >> He's got the fish. You You still got the fish, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. I got to go [snorts] clean. >> We're um I think they're opening our cleaning stations maybe next week. Yeah, I probably needed one more. We got a double and I threw one of those back. Well, I only I didn't need one more then. >> Yeah, it's easy enough to do. Like I said, that's why we don't It's about like getting a speeding ticket. >> I feel kind of stupid though that there's only 12 of them needed and I did it. >> Well, I've written plenty where guys have one over and they only needed six. You know, it's just it happens. >> I hope I didn't leave one in the live wall from last night. That'd be a real asser. >> Yeah, they all look >> they all look pretty good to me. >> Yeah. >> Gary, right over here, bud. He wants to see your fishing license. >> How you doing, sir? I'm getting more. Let me check your fishing license. >> And then when I'm done, do me a favor. >> Yeah. >> Get off the grass there cuz that park officer is going to come up and yell at me. >> Yeah. I couldn't figure how to get over here. >> Yeah. You're fine. >> If he thinks I let you do that, he's going to come over and start yelling at me. So, this is this is state park. It's their area. >> Yeah. >> I tell you what, if you got your Michigan DL, I can just run it. I got >> If you have your driver's license, I can just run it by your driver's license. >> As long as you got one, it ain't a big deal. >> All right, I'll be right back with you guys. All right, guys. Let's get you out of here. This is scariest. I have those carcasses in my truck. >> Okay. >> If I count them and there's 11, >> doesn't matter. You still can't have it with you at this point. Okay. So, um I I understand your your concern, but you still can't have them. So, um there's your driver's license back, too. I'm going to give you that. That's just a piece of paper. Read that. That's because you're not Ohio resident. That piece of paper basically says I don't have to take it a post bond. So, >> so I can pay this by mail. >> You can stop part of personal information. If you'd like to go to court, you can at 2:30 on the 24th of March. in the Ottawa County Municipal Court at 1860s Perry Street. Just says today you're one walleye over. It's a section number. It's my unit. My signature. This denotes it's a fourthderee misdemeanor and you can pay a waiver. If you want to pay a waiver, uh give me till Monday to get the ticket filed. Give them a call like Monday afternoon. >> What's paying a waiver? >> You pay it through the mail. >> Oh, yeah. Do I have to contact you to do that or? >> No, you call the court because the court sets that amount, not me. And I don't want to give you the wrong amount. >> Okay. So, and they'll they'll tell you how how to do it if they want a money order, credit card, or whatever. >> All right. So, >> do you know in general about how much that is? >> I think it's >> it's around 150, I think. >> All right. >> But I don't I don't know that for sure. >> That's why I don't want to put the amount down. >> Well, you didn't say 500. >> No, it's not 500. No. All right. I'll put in the statement. You guys are cooperative. That way, it's on the record for you. You do have a good license. You just bought it the other day. So, all right. Appreciate it, guys. Have a better day. >> [music] >> How you doing today, sir? Wildlife officer. >> Oh, not too bad. Just two today. >> Yep. >> Okay. Uh, can I take a look at your fishing literatur? >> Yeah, two nice ones, man. >> Yep. Sick. Both jacks looks like. Yeah, I got to find it. >> You from around here local or? >> Yeah, I live in Toledo. >> I got you. Okay. >> So, 8:15 25. >> Gotcha. Very good. Okay. >> I don't know if you need my ID. >> No, no, that's good enough for me. You got you got the fishing license. So, uh, reason I came to talk to you just is so the fish and I know you're from around here. So, sometimes people get bad information. >> Yeah. >> A lot of people think like if it's just up in the head area, it's it's good enough. Okay. >> I know it's got to be in the mouth, >> right? Okay. So, I didn't see your first fish. I don't have anything to say about that. But the the last one >> I got witnesses, bro. >> Witnesses? >> Oh, yeah. Dude, I had like four people right by me. >> No, I mean, so they were up to the side to you and you you'd had it down this way, so I don't think they'd be able to see anything, >> dude. But we can walk and talk. >> So I don't get fine for this. >> I don't argue with people on the river cuz it it doesn't doesn't go well. Okay? You know what I'm saying? So So again, you don't you didn't keep any any cow hook fish or anything crazy. Okay. >> I didn't keep fish at all. I promise you, dude. >> Right. And again, >> I swear to God, one dude unhooked my fish for me. >> Unhooked this fish for you. >> One of them hooked unhooked it for me. >> This fish? Your second fish? >> Not my second fish. The first fish. >> I'm not talking about your first fish. my second fishing. >> Yeah. I swear to God. >> So So again, I'm not I'm not trying to make a huge issue out of this. All right. But like I said, we I watch watch people fish and and like I said, it was up in that head area and I'm not trying to make a huge deal out of it. I don't think you keep a tail hooked one, but snag fish. I'm not trying to get fin. And that's why I'm trying to be polite with you is because I know sometimes people they're down here, they see other people keeping them, you know, it's crazy stuff. Dorful doral f. I'm not accusing you of doing anything like that. All right? But unfortunately, the hook actually needed to be on the inside of the mouth coming out to be a legally caught fish. All right? This one was up in the head area. And and like I said, I'm not not accusing you of being being out here trying to to keep every illegal fish you possibly could. I'm sure you could have left with six fish today. So, I do appreciate you throwing the bad ones back. But, like I said, unfortunately, this one here, >> I only caught two fish. >> I got you. Like I said, the Did you have your driver's license with you today? >> I just asked you if you needed it. >> Oh, did you? I >> did. I not just ask you if you needed it. I did. You did? I did. I apologize. You're >> Well, I'm four witnesses that'll tell you. >> So, here's the thing. Here's the thing, sir. If you want if you want to fight this, >> court's the place to do it. Okay. >> That's why I waited till you came up here, cuz I don't like pulling people on the river and making a huge scene. Okay. >> Well, it'd be better cuz I had witnesses, bro. Well, like I said, you're more than welcome to bring them to court and the judge is the person to talk to you about that. >> You [ __ ] I'm getting out of a fine now. >> If you choose to go that route, there's a fine or you can go to court. Okay, those are two options. Dude, this is [ __ ] I swear to God I didn't snag a fish. >> I ain't never kept a snag fish. >> Like I was telling you, sir, >> not in the head. You show me where the hook came in his head. >> I had four mother stand right next to me, >> sir. And you're more than welcome to bring them to court. >> Yeah, I know their names. I don't even know names. Guess I'll just come out here with a buddy tonight. >> Where you parked at, sir? Oh, wait. >> You can go to your vehicle, sir. I'll be right with you. Okay. Oh, I think that guy I think that guy was just looking right. >> Wait, you're ready, sir? Didn't know if you're talking to anybody on the phone or not. There's this back run through this. He's out of Parisburg Municipal Court. This is your personal information. I usually cross out order to appear. I forgot to do so. You are not ordered to appear. Okay. 8:45 a.m. would be the court date on April 4th. All right. That's at 300 Walnut Street. Uh so today you did take or possess a walleye by snagging. Code section. My name is badge number. Fishing violation of the state of Ohio. >> Court phone number's down there. You can pay this online, pay it in the court, or uh call. Okay.
