Only Cams provides body cam footage for transparency and educational purposes only. On January 27, 2022, a couple in Green Lake, Wisconsin got into a heated argument over who should take their kids to school. But things quickly escalated, ending with a physical altercation and a call to police. Recording. Dispatch recording. Thomas. Thomas. Thomas. You got any weapons on you, Tom? No. Okay. Okay. All right. So, before I talk to you, can I just pat you down real quick? Make sure. Okay. You want to turn around this way? So, you got kids in the house? Yeah. Okay. What went on this morning? What's going on? Nothing. They uh wife woke me up to take them to school. Okay. No argument. Yeah, we argued. Okay. and sitting there just trying to record me. And I said, "Just go in the house, get the kids ready, quit recording." Recording you for what? I'm going to walk around to the other side. I don't know. She just about to sit there and record. She what? About me to sit there and record me. Okay. So, did you throw her phone down? No. Is that your daughter there? Yeah. I'll just have you have a seat. Oh, she's got her right on there. Oh, okay. Well, we'll get through everything. Okay. Finally. So, I didn't introduce myself first. I'm Deputy War at the Sheriff's Office. We got called here by your wife. Said that you guys are had an argument. Um, you said that there was an argument. Y Okay. Any pushing? Nope. Okay. Um, any damage to property, phone? Nope. Okay. But you said she was recording you. Yeah. Okay. I think she was. I don't know if she was just bending or not. Okay. What was the argument about? Huh? What was the argument about? Uh the kids not taking a bus to school. Okay. You having to get up and taking them? Yeah. Every day. Okay. Which I don't mind doing. I do it, you know, but that's good old. It's right down the road and they can drive a bus like every other kid, you know. You you working, huh? Not right now. No. We just had a We had a house fire. So Okay. All right. Where was that at? Uh up on Bridge Street. Okay. All right. So that's why you guys are out here? Yeah, we're renting this one. You're renting? Yeah. Okay. Who's all living in the house? Just you, wife, and wife and kids. Okay. How many kids? Uh, six. Six. Well, three of mine, three of my own. Preceptive. Okay. I know a little while ago we had talked with you, hadn't made contact with you about some other issues, and you're doing okay now. Yeah. Okay. All right. No threats or no thoughts or anything like that. I'll go check with her. I'll go check with her. Hello. Hi. I'm from the sheriff's office. Um, so what took place today or this morning? I was getting the kids ready and then I woke him up to take the kids to school and immediately he started screaming and yelling that he didn't want to take the kids and that I don't do anything and he went out to the garage and screamed. So I started recording him and then he came in and tried to grab my phone and threw it to the ground, grabbed me. You can see where he grabbed me, shoved me and then tried to grab my phone and throw it again. So what what started it? He just because I woke him up to take the kids and you wanted him to take the kids to school this morning or he always takes the kids cuz I don't have a license. Okay. So, I just never got one. But Okay. All right. That was it. I didn't do anything. And I have I have it on. I have the report. Okay. Okay. And your husband and wife? Yes. Okay. Well, I'm going to go in and talk with her real quick. I'm just You're not under arrest. I'm just going to have you sit in the back seat here and then I'll come back out and talk to you in a little bit. Okay. All right. Hi, guys. He does this every day and I just I'm sick of it. Mr. Go get the kids. So, what what's sparked what's what's going on? Like, what's the what's the underlying issue, I guess, so to speak? He's just been like this. He he does do drugs. Okay. And he's just it's been worse and worse cuz we had a house fire in February. We're still not home. Okay. So since then things have just been getting worse and worse. Okay. And that happened in the house fires in Marazan. Okay. And that's where are they fixing that? Yes. Okay. So that's the underlying issue is the stress coming from that. Yeah. But I mean even before that he was like this. Okay. What do you think he's using today or has been using? I don't know. And when you say drugs, what kind of drugs does he use? I know he does aderall because I found them and found the like straw. So like He's snoring, but it wouldn't show up because he is prescribed um Suboxin and by bands. So that why he keeps getting away with it or from his doctor. Sounds like he just woke up this morning and started she was she woke him up to take the kids to school and um just started yelling and screaming at her and um pushed her at one point to try to get the phone because she was recording. Yeah. because I got from him as well school and uh that you were recording him and he wasn't too happy about that. Well, that's what I mean if I need the proof because he's done this a lot. Like he does it all the time. Sick of sick of being pushed. It's never been this bad. What's that? It's never been this bad. As bad today. When was last time? Probably. Oh, a couple weeks ago. Okay. All right. Um, so I'm going to talk with my partner here and then if you want to do you need to get the kids to school. I don't drive. You don't drive. So he's the only way to get them to school. Okay. Why don't I should Why don't I should try to get that figured out? Yeah. Get the kids Let's get him to school. If if you if she can't um facilitate that, um, we'll see if uh we can have a Marcus Zen officer come out and pick them up and get them to school. Okay. How many children do you have to have to go to school? Um, five now cuz the one just left. So, total. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Well, uh, why don't you try to make arrangements to have somebody come get the kids? If you can't uh arrange that, we'll we'll figure something out. We'll get we'll get it figured out. Yep. All right. Thank you. Yep. So, the um I don't know what he told you, but she just said um wakes him up cuz she he always takes him to school. Yeah. Wakes him up and he just just because she woke him up kind of flipped out. I mean, that's what he was saying, too. He's like, I'm I'm sick of taking him to school. He's like, "They can ride the bus. The bus drives right by here. Why do I have to get up, take him to school?" And he's like, "I'm just tired of it." You know, it's like frustrating. And he mentioned the house fire. I asked him if there was anything physical. And he's like, "No, but she was recording me." And I he's like, "Jim, hit the phone. You do anything?" He's like, "No, but he's like I don't know if she was really recording me or not, but he's like that that he's" He's really calm right now. But just I mean, you've pretty much seen what I seen on the video. I think I didn't see any of the video, but I could hear it. Yeah. I mean, it seems like it kind of took place right here like kind of came kind of came around the vehicle and I think I'm assuming she was at that door and then then it kind of gets all garbled because obes hit the phone or whatever. Um, and yelling and then he grabbed her. She's got a It's red like right here. So, I don't know. You know, just kind of a a grab like that. I I don't know. I'm thinking probably I know what you're thinking. I think it's probably this early. Yeah, he's and uh I I got the packet in the car. He's saying he needs to use the restroom, but I don't want to bring him back in the house. Yeah, I don't think with all the kids and everything. Why don't I Is that what you're thinking, DC? Yeah. Why don't I Why don't I Let's split the packet. I'll um I'll take him to the jail. Okay. And we'll let him What do you think? Let him bond out on the 150. Yeah. And uh um is there anything that she's Let's ask her if she needs anything before we leave. Get to school. She doesn't drive. Um so we're going to take him with us. Um we're going to place him under. We just want and then uh did you figure out something for uh the kids? Uh my sister hasn't answered yet. Okay. Um we'll facilitate with Marazan. Maybe um Officer Cody um or Chief Will can uh you know stop out and grab him. We're not gonna we might have to take two a couple vehicles when you got that many. But uh you think your sister is What time is it? It's Yeah, it's f it's school time here. So um we'll get that uh we'll get that figured out to get him to school. So all right, Tom, why don't you step out Thomas? Right. Yep. Okay. Uh stand right in front of my car for uh front of my F-150, please. What's going on here? I'm going to be placing an arrest of disorderly conduct this morning. So, I'd like you to turn around, face pace my squad. Turn around, face pace my squad. Okay. Am I able to make bail or uh at this time? Yes, we are going to allow you to do that unless something changes when uh uh Deputy Winer speaks. No. Am I able to do that myself or do I have to uh if I got my wallet, my money? Okay. It'll be $150 if we allow you to post out, which I think we're going to allow you to do that. You have $150 cash. Where's the lighter at? This pocket right here. Okay. I'm gonna have I'm gonna have you have him take that. You left the cardo up when I saw the prescription for suboxin. Are you Yeah, that's my medicine. Daily medicine. I saw that was prescribed. You are you did you take that today already? Yeah. No, I haven't. I was going to ask. You said there was a bail. So, any any other medication have you taken today? I take some box in by van. I haven't warned yet. Okay. All right. Want to have a seat? Hey, like I said, uh you've been placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. Um we're going to go to the jail and I'll have uh uh to go through some paperwork with you um up there. So, anything that you have to have from the house right now? Um if I just if I I'm able to get bail, you will be able to. Then I can however long it takes. Yep. Yep. come back and take my medicine at that point. Okay. And there might there may or may not be a no contact as well. I'll we'll address that on Deputy Wer. I'll have to address that with Ashley, whether she wants that enforced or not. If that's enforced, you'll have to find someplace to go. Okay. Um and then and I think that would be beneficial anyway. Um even if it's not enforced, I think just have a cooling off period. Um and I'll explain all that to you now. Any health concerns I need to be concerned about or uh the jail needs to be concerned about when you're there? Any uh CO exposures or um any symptoms of CO that we need to be concerned about? No. Okay. All right. Thank you. Um, yes. Can you shut my car off and Yep. Deputy Wine will take care of that for you. Okay. Phone is on the in the dash in there. I don't want it to sit and be exposed to the cold. Okay. I'll have him put that inside as well. Okay. Thank you. Yep. Uh, we got to be in uh either N95 or KN in the jail now, right? Okay. All right. All right. Let me know about 72 when you know then. [ __ ] There is a dog back here. What's that? I didn't know there was realize there was a dog back here. Yeah. I can pop his head up. It scares me. Well, since we're waiting, normally I would do this inside. That's fine. Um, but since we're waiting, I'm going to just do this here now. All right. Um, so you've been arrested for disorderly conduct and also uh criminal damage to property. Um, criminal damage to property. It's just the disorderly conduct. Um, but the officer that was there had me add the criminal damage to property. What property? I don't know that. He didn't state it. He just told me to uh add that. So that's what I've uh I've done. Okay. But I didn't damage any property. I didn't touch anybody. I didn't touch anybody's property. Didn't do any kind of damage. Okay. So I don't understand how I was criminal damaged property when I didn't even touch anything. I'm only being uh obviously I don't know that information. Um I apologize for that, but uh just he just relayed that to me here a little bit ago. What does that mean? What? The criminal damage to property on top of that. That means that's a separate charge. So, um, I'm going to advise you of your rights. Uh, can you hear me? Okay. Yeah. Okay. Am I still going to make Can I Am I still be able to make bail then? Yep, I will. But it's going to be more because I'll have to add the criminal damage to that as well. Okay. So, uh, before we ask you any questions, it's my duty advise you of your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in uh, a court of law waiver. Do you understand each of the rights I've explained to you? Yeah. Is that a yes? Yeah. Okay, understanding these rights. Do you wish to talk to me now? It ain't going to change anything. So, is that a no? I'm going to go with no because it doesn't ain't going to change anything. Okay. You all going to go by what she says and that's it. Okay. I already know this game. If I said some things about her, I mean, are you guys going to go and charge her with a [ __ ] No. Exactly. She yelled and screamed, too. I mean, is she getting disorderly conduct? The law provides that if you commit another act of domestic abuse during Hang on one second. May they wave it or what? No, she wants it enforced. If I could just have you come over here real quick. I know you're I need to notify my partner if you're going to want a a no contact provision waved or enforced. Enforced. You want it enforced? Okay. So, um, let's go through the rest of this, but this is basically going to say here that you didn't give him permission to push you, you said. Yep. And to, uh, damage your phone, correct? Mhm. Okay. So, we're going to do that eventually at some point here. But um I understand Dian sent following the rest of the suspect and above which occurred at his arrest time believe was 8:00 a.m. We'll go through the rest of this after the kids get picked up. Okay. Oh no no no puppets at school. What about you little one? First grade. First grade. So I with the events of this morning, you said you he was sleeping. You had already gotten the kids up. Is that correct? Yep. I got the kids up. They were all ready eating breakfast. I just I wake him up a few minutes before they have to leave. Maybe 5 10 so that he can get up, go smoke a cigarette, be ready to go. What? And why don't you have a Why don't you drive? I just never got my license. Like I was a teenage mom and nobody ever taught me. So Okay. All right. All right. And nothing wrong with that. Just curious. Um, so he I have my temp, but I just don't have you had to take the test. Well, there is a driving school in the city of Green Lake and I know the owners of it. So, um, you know, maybe you can, you know, when things calm down more, maybe that's always a route you can go. And you had said earlier to me that this happens frequently. Is that why you started recording? Yeah. So you you you said you uh started recording him because you just knew this was going to happen and that's because it's happened in the past. Yeah. So you said but this time you didn't want him to get away with things. Mhm. Um I was filming Thomas who was in the garage screaming and yelling and I was in the kitchen brushing my daughter's hair. So you said you could hear him yelling. So what what caused you to go to the the back door? Because I could hear him yelling but I was seeing if he was like He's getting at least getting himself ready to take the like I said uh or you said you I was filming Thomas who was in the garage screaming and yelling and I was in the kitchen brushing my daughter's hair. I walked over to the garage door and looked out to see if Thomas was getting ready to take the kids because he was still yelling out there and then what happened? Yeah, I'll take a look at the video here. I actually said he's gonna heal me sometime. That's what I started recording as soon as he started yelling because I never know what's gonna happen. Yeah. So, he's out in the garage right now. Okay. When I start recording cuz sometimes I'll come in and throw things and so he's on his phone there. Mhm. I walked that way cuz he was still screaming out there. Thank you. Get the kids ready. [Music] [ __ ] Mr. Give me my phone now. My phone now. Go get the kid. Shove me around. Okay. Is he was fighting to grab your phone? Yeah. All right. So, I couldn't record anymore because he kept attacking me. So, anything else get broken or damaged? No, I don't. Okay. So, that all happened right there in the doorway there. Then did it stop recording there? Did he does that when it fell out of your hand or he knocked it out or did he ever take it and keep it from you? Yeah, he took he that's when he grabbed it and he took it in the garage and he was going to he was acting like he was going to break it. Okay. He held it for a while and then when he gave it back that's when I called 911. Okay. So I'm like I'm not playing this game. Okay. And he didn't do either of those. Okay. I don't think he's willing to change. Okay. But at what point do you allow this to continue? You know, I know you're saying that you're you want your children back in the home and you're trying to get some a sense of normaly. I don't want them to keep seeing us. Exactly. Yeah. Can I bring him in? Were you saying out of the car? I don't know. What did I say? You said you were going to see what you were going to do to get in. Oh, yeah. I didn't know how they were going to handle this cuz we got some Can you have a seat on the bench over here, Tom? tight to the wall, please. I've got one of those. They're nice. They are. I don't know how long we were waiting until we did the paperwork in the car. This is the form that I read to you in the in the car. Um the conditional release form. Um she does want the 72 hours to be enforced. So, if you need to go back to the house to get medications, personal um things, something like that, contact our office and then we'll send somebody out to do a standby if you can't be there unless um law enforcement is there. So, we'll do a standby with you while you do that. So, we're not going to be taking things off the wall. We're not going to be taking TVs and things like that. It's personal things, clothing to be staying, you know, at a family or a friend's house or something like that. So, um, if you wish to read that, you you may. Um, is there any of that that you do not understand that I need to explain to you? I just need your printed name here, a signature there, a date, and a time, and probably about 8:44. Thomas was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, domestic related, and criminal damage to property. He was booked at the Green Lake County facility and a 72-hour no contact order was enforced. If you like content like this, please like and subscribe.
