No one's going to find out about it, except for the people you tell, the courts, the judge, and me, and you. It's not like anybody can just get into our systems and look at it, okay? If you like fish and wildlife content, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos. An officer with Florida Fish and Wildlife was on patrol when he conducted a routine resource inspection on two people fishing along a shoreline. Hello. How's it going? It's going. You having any luck? Just No, nothing yet. Not at all? I'm guessing you're probably going to want to check those. I'm sure, yeah. You got your ID on you? Yeah, it's right here. Who caught that fish? That's a caught a long time ago. I did a little while ago that is That was just frozen. Got your ID on you? It's in my car. Let me go grab it. Yeah, I'll get it. Any fish in the cooler? No. No, it's all other stuff, beads and stuff like that. It's a shell that I found on the ground, but Just all a bunch of random stuff that carry with me and just in the cooler. It's easiest thing to travel it all around. You using this for bait? Was, yeah, but it wasn't working. So, we stopped. I got you. How many people catch things out here, though? Like, what do they normally catch? I haven't seen much come out of here. Okay. Appreciate it. Yeah, don't believe you're going to be able to use that for bait, bud. It's all good, yeah. I could be wrong unless they changed it overnight. I'll go look at it real quick. Okay. But, I didn't strike her you're going to be able to use. I did not know that. How big was it? Uh that was About About maybe a little longer. I cut the head off of it. When I measured it, it was at legal length. I just don't remember what that was. That was also a while ago, too. Now, I didn't catch that, though. Somebody gave that one to me as bait. I didn't know what kind of fish that was. You don't know what kind of fish this is? I'm new to this area. I'm new to ocean fishing. You don't fish at all? Well, I do fish, just fresh water. I'm new to ocean fishing. Any other fish? No. Anything in that bag? Uh just Well, all groceries. All right. Uh-huh. Sea trout and that one. Take it out of that, please. Yeah. You know what a sea trout is? That's what I was told it was. When they gave it to me cuz some of this was just given to me after I catching or fishing one day. So, I kind of just kept them to use them as bait, but Any other fish? This sea trout right here, too. Or I think that is. I don't know what that is, actually. Whatever's in this got, too. Yeah. Okay. So, these are all yours? Yeah. You got your ID on you? Yes, sir. Let's take a look at that. Y'all keep fishing. I'll be right back with you. All right. Take this one with me, too. Yep. No, I said I'm taking all these. Give me a minute and I'll be right back with you. Okay. All right, bud. I'm about to read you something this on. This don't mean you're under arrest or being detained. It means I just have to read you something before I can ask you questions, okay? Okay. Just about the situation, okay? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. With these rights in mind, do you still wish to talk to me? Yes, sir. Okay. So, here's what we got here, man. How much How much did you cut off of this? Pretty much just this part? No, I did I mean, 4 or 5 inches off of it cuz the head was pretty long. I measured it and it was about 17 inches when I measured it. Okay. Do you know what this is? No. I caught that out of Blackwater River. I caught it. You caught this one? It's not Blackwater. Okay, this is a striper. It's a striped bass. It's got to be 18 inches long. Okay, you said how long was it? About 17. About 17, okay. So, yeah, it has to be 18 inches long, okay? Okay. So, when you But, after you So, you just cut the head off, correct? I cut the head off part of that. But, when you cleaned it, you cut the head off and then this is what you cleaned and used for bait, okay? These You said you got these where? Just Somebody gave them to me when I was fishing at Blackwater River. They gave them to me that were there. I don't even know who they were. They just kind of >> you fishing at Blackwater River? Right there by the bridge. Uh uh in Milton. Russell Harbor? Close to that, yeah. Okay. So, yeah, these are What do you think these are? You told me earlier. >> I I thought I was told they were sea trout when he gave them to me. Yeah, so these are speckled trout. Do you know the size limit on these? They're 15 to 19 inches. When you clean these, how much did you take off of them? I didn't clean them. They They cut off the head off of them like that when they gave them They gave them to you? I wrapped them up in tin foil and froze them because like I said, I just Well, I was given them. Okay. So, basically, the head's cut off. That's pretty much all that's cut off right here. It's the head. These have to be 15 inches. And these are Nine. I'll give you 9 and 1/2 on that. Okay. So, what's that? 10, 11, 12? 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 inches. The head of this sea trout, for sure, for any sea trout, for that matter, it's not going to be 6 inches to get you to the 15, okay? This one, same same thing. We're 8 and a quarter. Same thing. And then, this is a redfish. This is cut off right behind the head. This is their gill plate, right behind the head. And how big these have to be? 18 inches to 27 inches. And this is 11 inches. Okay. So, we're still missing one. Let's see. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 inches. The head of this redfish is not 7 inches, okay? All right. So, that's That's our issue here, okay? All right. I I can see that. >> So, to be able to use these for bait, they have to be legal size. they have to be of legal size. Okay. >> And they have to be landed in whole condition. So, basically, what I'm doing for you is I can tell right now you didn't catch these today. I mean, I've done this Exactly. I've done this job long enough. These weren't caught today. >> These I have They like all these have been sitting in my freezer for like a month and a half. No, cuz the guy gave them to me like a lot when I first moved out here. You caught this one? Uh no, that one was All All five of these were given to me. This is the only fish that I caught that I have kept because I thought it was big enough. And I didn't have a tape measure with me. Okay, so I'm going to >> that on New Year's Day. On New Year's Day? Okay. You got my preference. Do you receive fish from people? I'm not taking it. These three right here are highly regulated species. >> Are they? Yes. If you have more than three of these over, that's a major violation. That's into uh fishing suspensions, higher fines, stuff like that. 60 days in jail? Same with this. If you have three over your limit or three illegal fish, you would have a major violation, okay? That'd be a first-degree misdemeanor. All right. So, that's That's what we're looking like, okay? So, I'm going to address some things paperwork-wise, and then I'm going to have to take these fish, okay? >> That's fine, yeah. All right. I don't want anything if it's going to be illegal. I I When I first moved out here, cuz I like I said, we got those so long ago. Um when I first moved out here, I was fishing at Blackwater and a guy was like, "Hey, you want some bait?" I was like, "I mean, don't know about money." So, I was like, "Yeah, I I can use some bait." And then, it kind of just been sitting in my freezer, and somebody told me that they were good. It's good bait for ocean fishing, and this is one of the first times I have actually came out here and ocean fished. The other time this was uh shoreline fishing, didn't catch anything, and I just used sand fleas for that. Um I I should have done my researches, what should have happened. Yeah, so it's an app on the phone. I'll explain it more to you later about Fish Rules. It's an app called Fish Rules. You can get that app, it'll show you live pictures of fish, it'll show you their measurements. Any type of fish that has a regulation has to one, be landed in whole condition, and two, has to be of size to use it for bait. Uh yes. You can look on there, saltwater, freshwater, has everything. It'll take your location, give you dates, times when everything's open, okay? All right. You can walk back up there. Like I said, it's not the end of the world. We'll address some things. I understand. >> I normally like I I normally double-check everything. I got you. Like I said, man, it's it's not the end of the world. >> Okay. These are going to I forgot to say, these are white trout. Sand trout. So, there's no limit to those, so you can have those back. >> Um I If you can mind throwing I'm of them away, it's kind of bad luck fish to me now. Just take Just take it? Yeah, just take it. There's nothing wrong with them. Okay. I'm saying there's no there's no violation to them. Yeah, cuz he told me like like I'm saying all of this is the same which I thought the doctor was meant a little different. Yeah, those are spotted sea trout. Slender cat while we're talking about limits. What's the limit on a what? >> Catfish. Out here? Yeah, yeah. 100 lbs. Well, like the minimum limit key. 100 lbs? Oh, is it keep it? Yeah. >> Okay. It'll tell you all that on the On that app? On that app. Yeah, it's 100 lbs. They're they're not a They're regulated, but they're not a highly regulated fish at all. All righty, so basically I'll be set up with these you're going to see three citations, okay? For all these fish. These two fish these three fish are high. You know what I'm trying to say? I lost my train of thought there. High regulation. Yeah, so these are highly regulated fish, major violation fish. I don't write warnings for undersized on those fish. This one under an inch I can work with you between an inch and a use sometimes maybe not, but anything [snorts] under an inch is a automatic ticket, okay? I'll be honest with you. Um Appreciate your honesty. Like I said, I mean it is it is what it is, okay? You're you're see three citations, okay? It comes with a court date. So every violation pretty much fishing walleye violations most of our fishing violations are court dates. They're criminal offenses at the time, okay? Okay. They don't affect your driver's license. They don't affect your insurance. It's not really criminal history if you would. No one's going to find out about it except for the people you tell, the courts, the judge, and me and you. It's not like anybody can just get into our systems and look at it, okay? So I mean if you have a job that you have to tell them about this stuff, you can that's up to you. They really don't they really won't find out, okay? Like I said, three citations. I'm just going to need three signatures, okay? So your court date's going to be on April 9th, 8:00 a.m. Center of the County Courthouse. Do you know where that's at? No. So it's on Avalon Boulevard. Um pretty much if you get on this road again, you're straight up all the way to 98 off where you get on you'll see it on your left Center of the County Courthouse, okay? Um make sure you show up to this date. You can call this number to see if if you have any issues with that. If you have something major come up you can call them they might work with you on court date, okay? Um but like I said, just make sure you show up to this date or contact them because if not they'll issue a warrant for you, okay? Like I said, three citations. I just need three signatures for the redfish. I'm writing you all undersized redfish, sea trout, and striped bass, okay? It's not admitting guilt just saying you show up in court or contact the judge. Would it be just a fine amount or would it be possible jail time, too? I'll tell I mean I'll tell you the text we get here it's possible jail time. Now if that happens I've seen it very few times. It just depends like if you have a clean record which you do cuz I can look that up. If you have a clean record through us, the judge might work with you something like that, okay? I can't promise nothing. That's all up to him. After I hand you this, I did my part of the the thing and it's all up to them, okay? I want you to go in there in your car to yes I mean there's nothing in my report that's going to depict that you're dishonest. You're all honest about everything from as far as I believe. Um like I said, just show up there and the judge will talk to you, okay? You got any questions, comments, concerns on it? Sure. All righty, you have a safe rest of your day. Like I said, just Yeah. You can take those and then I'll have to seize these, okay? All right, thank you. All righty, you have a safe rest of your day. You, too. In the end, Timothy received three criminal charges. He played no contest all three charges and was adjudicated guilty. He was ordered to pay a total of $358 in costs and fees and was placed on a payment plan. He eventually paid the full amount, but it required two different driving privilege suspensions and collection referral notices.
