Officers were patrolling a protected wetlands known as the Key West Nature Preserve when they discovered a campsite hidden in the vegetation. Hello, police. In the end, Frederick was charged with being in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana, violating a municipal camping ordinance, trespassing in a park after hours, violation of park rules, habitation in wetlands, and cutting, harvesting, or removing sea oats or sea grapes. He played no contest to the first three charges and was adjudicated guilty. He was sentenced to 95 days in jail with credit for 95 days served and 2 years of probation.
