I'll give you your Miranda warning right now. >> down. Dad, what do I do? Can you just help me? They're asking I don't know from what I recall that's like what I didn't like I don't know who this How much have you had to drink? How much have you had >> [music] >> to drink? How much alcohol? >> I only had one drink on the plane. Just one drink. What about what about prior to getting on the plane? A lot. A lot. A holiday flight turned into a total nightmare on December 25th, 2024 when the Tampa Airport Police were called to handle an intoxicated passenger who apparently thought assault was a festive tradition. What started as a smooth journey home quickly turned into a scene of entitlement and aggression >> [music] >> as one woman's behavior derailed everyone's Christmas plans. Watch as this mid-air meltdown leads to a very sober landing and a face-to-face encounter with the law that she definitely [music] didn't put on her wish list. Hello. Hi. How are y'all? Yeah, we got a intoxicated passenger at 41 Bravo. Okay. Hit a passenger that's sitting right in front of her. When you say hit, what do you mean? Like That's what the gentleman claimed. He was seated right in front of her and said it was an elbow, a hand. Do you know do you know whether there any altercations throughout the flight with her or anything like that? They got to talk to us and after she left to tell us about him that he was causing trouble and I said to him I said how much did she have to drink cuz I could tell she was She was a little bit. Uh-huh. And then We had a short conversation and then that's when they escorted her. Okay. Was there any flight disruption or anything like that? Flight alerts? No? No. Okay. No, but when she gave her cup away What was she talking about? Just got that half of It was a vodka with a lime and it smelled like vodka. So, she came on board during the flight. Okay. Didn't catch that. I don't know if you need this. I saved it. Right. No. Okay. Well, do we want to go ahead and get her off the plane? Yeah, she's in the last row on your right, 41B. Um I know the gentleman does want to claim charges stress charges against her. So Yeah, no. And that's what I advised him that he's got to talk to you. No, he's in Yeah, we moved her to the last row in 41. He's in row 11. 11D and he is husband and wife. Can we go ahead and get him off right now? Yeah, go ahead. Well, can you can you let me know which row it is? I'm sorry, what did you say? Yeah, if you if you don't mind. If you'll just get him for me. Is he the No, the victim. Yeah. Okay. How you doing? Good. Do you know what I got here? Yes. Okay, we'll talk real quick. And I'll talk to them real fast. Uh let's just We'll just walk up here. Oh, thank you. We'll get up here real quick and I'll talk to you about it. Yep. Officers learned that Catherine wasn't just high on life. She was significantly intoxicated after allegedly elbowing a passenger. The flight crew suspected her Starbucks cup was hiding something much stronger than a latte, especially since it smelled like a walking bar. It's clear she didn't just bring luggage, she brought a mountain of drama. Well, I can talk to you now while we walk. So, can you just kind of describe to me what happened? Well, it's She when she sat down it it had started at the bar in in the airport. Okay. She was trying to get my phone number which I didn't give her, which pissed her off. Okay. And then uh Are you traveling alone? No, no. Okay. No, my wife. Okay. Didn't make her happy either. Right, I understandable. Let's walk over here. But then sure enough when we get on the plane, she is seated right behind us. Okay. She kept reaching out and touching me and giving me [ __ ] Which I wouldn't like though. Okay. If a man did that to a woman Right. All right. But she's reaching out and touching me, giving me [ __ ] And then when she finally gets up to go to the bathroom takes her elbow and just bashes me in the side of the head. And I'm like, "What the hell?" She goes Well, you're on Frontier Airlines, steward. I'm like, "Seriously?" And then she goes to the flight attendants and tells them that we've been screaming at her. Which not only we know >> you all sitting in the same row together? They were right behind us. So, these two are in the same row. >> Okay. He and I are on either side of her behind them. So, I'm on the aisle and he's on the window and she's in the middle. I got on and my kids are My son is sitting next to them and same as my daughter is across from me. Okay. And she said, "Is that your husband?" and pointed at him. Okay. And I said, "No." And she said, "Good, because he got into it with my aunt. He's a jerk. He's a jerk." And I go, "I don't You don't want to think about that." Who's your aunt? Some drunk lady that was trying to sit in my seat before I came. Oh, no. She is not her aunt. She doesn't like me. Well, and then I She's going to come off the plane and her phones are on and she kept hitting me over and she's like, "Why haven't they given us drinks? You need to tell me when the drink cart's coming." And I go, "No one has the drinks." She goes, "Everybody has drinks but us." I said, "Nobody has drinks. They haven't come with the drink service." >> Okay. And she ordered two drinks, which she got both of them and drank them. Then she spoke to him the whole time on the other side. I'm trying to ignore her. She also said something disgusting to you about your wife who's also on the plane. The victim revealed the most awkward part of the story. [music] He turned down her request for his phone number and she didn't take the no very well. Since she couldn't get a date, she decided to give him a bruise instead, >> [music] >> proving that some people handle rejection like a toddler losing a toy. Her deal-with-it attitude after striking him was the cherry on top of this entitlement Sunday. She was about to find out that dealing with it >> [music] >> meant talking to the police. Are you all traveling together? No. Okay. We're together and they're both independent Well, your wife is on the >> on the back of the plane. His wife's on the front of the plane. My kids are right next to me. So, you're all y'all witness her hitting him in the head with his She hit me and I said, "Please stop hitting me." And she said, "I have to go to the bathroom. What do you want me to do? Crawl over you?" And she was kind of aggressive with me. And I said, "Then just ask me to get up." Cuz she kept saying stuff to me and I was like, "Just leave me alone." Like she's drunk. And so, I got up and walked to the back of the plane. My husband's in 17 to talk to him. And I was telling him, like, "This lady's wasted." Like I had texted him when we got on the plane that she [music] was drunk. And so, and then when I came back up, she's telling them that I was trying to punch her, you were being aggressive. I wasn't doing anything. I just told her to leave me alone. So, what what happened after she elbowed you? Well, I I said, "What I said, "What the hell?" She goes, "It's frontier flight, right? Flight do with it." And then she went to the flight attendants Uh-huh. and told them all that I was screaming at her and she was screaming at her. And then she >> to the front and told them that she was wasted. And then they came and asked her to move and she wouldn't move for about 10 minutes. And then they finally moved her to the back. Yeah. Okay. I can tell you if a man treated a woman like that, he'd be in jail. Right. Do you have your ID on you by the way? Yeah. Um so, do you all want or do you want >> I want to press charges. She needs to learn a lesson. Okay. Seriously, if a man treated a woman like that, No, I get it. he'd be in jail. She needs a lesson. Control 1092 80. It wasn't just the victim who had a front row seat to this circus. >> [music] >> The surrounding passengers were all too happy to tell their side of the story. They described her as aggressive, wasted, [music] and constantly pestering everyone about when the drink cart would finally arrive. She was so intolerable that cops had to clear the entire plane [music] before facing the chaotic queen. That's when we got the When I said to him, I go, "How much has she had to drink?" She had cuz she was complaining about Merry Christmas. Well, her story made no sense to me. So, then when she went sit back down we had a little conversation about, you know, she's not good not we're not serving her anymore whatever and then then a man came up and it wasn't the guy that she had hit was it his wife the guy that came up here was sitting in the back saw stuff was going on around his wife and daughter came up and then came up and said we need to move my wife and daughter we don't want them sitting there what's going on there. Okay. So then we went back to do that in the alternate video he went back to take care of that Okay. and that's whenever >> What seat was he sitting in the guy that got struck? 11D I believe. Okay and what seat was this lady sitting in? 12F. He was 11D. >> you moved her back to what seat? 41B. There was way too much conversation going on. And then he I was on the phone with the captain. >> this occurred 41 minutes prior to flying and I said that it would be over the state of Florida at that point in time. I I got the victim stating that she got up and deliberately struck him in the left ear with her elbow and he turned and said what the hell and she was like you're on a Frontier flight deal with it and then so that's when the flight attendant She she's intoxicated and was trying to constantly talk to him. And he's he's traveling with his wife and um Yeah. Said that she tried to get his number or something like that. When the police finally confronted Catherine, she immediately pulled the "Who, me?" card while clutching her phone like a lifeline. She acted like being moved to the back of the plane was a personal insult rather than [music] a safety measure. It's hilarious how aggressive people suddenly become experts on physics. I didn't do anything. Listen. Let's get off the flight and then we'll talk to you after we get off. All right. There you go. Hey, they're sitting right beside the ticket counter, if you don't mind. Yeah. Thank you, sir. It's a It's a male and three females. Okay. All right. I told him I just wanted to go this way, like my ears popped. You No, my dad needs to be on the What What is that in your hand? My dad my wallet. >> fold it like fold it in your bag or something like that. Or they may have a piece of tissue or something. >> I being treated like I'm the victim in this >> look. Hang on. That guy was harassing me the whole plane. I know that. I know that. >> Okay, so look. We can walk into Let me Let me stop you. I can you Are you on the phone? I'm on the phone with my assistant. What? Can my dad talk to Ask my attorney as well? Are you an adult? Hello? I'll speak to you. I'm not speaking to whoever's on the phone. I don't know who that is on the phone. Okay. So, look. I'm also here with the airport police. I'm I'm here because there's been an allegation that you struck somebody with your elbow in the side of the head when you got up, okay? Yeah. Huh? You said elbow to their To their ear. To the side of their head. That sounds like a backwards. Like you'd be moving forward towards the bathroom, which is the only time I got up. Okay. Um You You have your boarding pass. Can we go somewhere Dad, I don't know what to do. This guy was nice to me. He used me up some like elbow thing. All right. Well, look. Before Just can you talk to me for a minute? Before I ask you Before I ask you any further questions, I'm just going to read you your rights, okay? All right. So, listen. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, okay? You have the right to consult with an attorney before you make any statement at any time before or during questioning, and you may stop the interview at any time. Do you understand each of these are that I've read you? The officer had to drop the hammer and read Katherine her rights, >> [music] >> which seemed to fly right over her head as she begged her dad for advice. Watching an adult ask their parent if they should listen to the Miranda warning is a [music] peak level of second-hand embarrassment. My lawyer said there's nothing I I'm not saying you're being arrested right now, but I'm I'm advising you of your Miranda rights, okay? All right. Do you Do you want to say anything to the rights that I just read to you? I need a verbal answer, yes or no. Yeah. Okay. Um are you willing to answer questions or make statement without without an attorney being present right now? What can you tell me if I if I tell you that I just want to ask you these questions. I'm sure you can hear me. It's just this is like so loud. So look look let me just finish this part. Let me finish this part. Literally two sentences left, okay? I know that you can hear me. There's no way you can't hear me. I'm not a soft-spoken person, okay? So look, are you willing to answer questions or make a statement without an attorney being present right now? After the rights I read to you, you said that you understood them. The next question is, are you willing to answer questions or make statement without an attorney being present? It's a simple yes or no. Without an attorney? What about a parent? You're an adult. So I think an attorney would be better at this point. >> Okay, so you're not willing to answer any questions? Are you willing to talk to me about the allegations that are made against you? Can I ask my parents? I'm asking you. Are you an adult? I think it would >> Are you an adult? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was talking to my parents, though. Okay. I just need you to answer this one question. Do you have your ID on you? Yeah. Yeah, I know. It's why I don't want I want to not talk about this, but I want I don't even know what happened. >> So you don't want to answer any of my questions? I'm not a lawyer now. Okay. All right. So, now I need your ID, okay? This is so embarrassing. Here. Ma'am, this is not on your schedule, okay? Yeah. I Yeah. Okay. Do you Do you have your ID on you? Yeah, of course. Katherine was absolutely desperate to stay on the phone with her parents, >> [music] >> acting as if her dad could somehow lawyer her out of a body cam recording. The officer's patience was legendary. She kept claiming she couldn't hear over the airport noise, but it was really just the sound of her own poor decisions catching up to her. All right. So, is your Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am. Is your name Katherine or Catherine? What is it? Catherine? Catherine? Okay. So, what we're going to do is So, I've read you your rights. Are you willing to at least give me a written statement about what happened? I just said I would have my dad. You don't remember? It's not that I don't remember. To my knowledge, I got a window seat to the bathroom in this old flight. This guy was in the row in front of me, okay? From what I heard from most people that were making fun of me >> Were you sitting No, I was sitting behind him. Were you aisle, middle, or window? Were you Were you aisle, middle, or window? I was um middle and so there is this elbow thing. This guy was just Yeah. I mean, he made me >> So, you got to You got to go to the bathroom, right? Why would I intentionally elbow a stranger? I don't know him. Okay. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. The thing is, you want to plead your case now and I just read you your rights and you're telling me you don't want to talk. So, if Dad, are you on there? >> Listen. I don't know. >> If you don't want to talk to me, then I'll have to read you your rights, okay? Do you understand that? What if he's not what he said? Can I give you your boarding pass back to you? He was sitting down. Dad, what do I do? Can you just help me? They're asking I don't know from what I recall that's like what I didn't like I don't know what >> have you had How much have you had to drink? How much alcohol have >> had one drink on the plane. Just one drink. What about What about prior to getting on the plane? Oh, yeah, a lot a lot. But wait, I'm not supposed to be talking to you without a lawyer, right? >> Okay. Well, again, you're trying to tell me and please look at my face. >> me. I know I just I didn't know what I did till like right now. >> Okay. So, I'm going to read you your rights one more time. Okay. I'm just so upset. Like I'm so frustrated. Like Well, just take a breath, okay? Just take a breath. Dad, are you there? Yes, yes. >> Can we just let this sit down? Just take a breath, okay? Just let me read this to you. I'll make you a deal. I'll read this to you and then we'll walk up here and I'll let you sit down, okay? She couldn't understand why anyone would intentionally hit a stranger, yet multiple people heard her tell the victim to just [music] deal with it. It's funny how her memory suddenly became selective the moment handcuffs became a possibility. She was feeling trapped, [music] but the only thing trapping her was the mountain of witness statements being signed. And whether you talk up there or not is up to you, okay? But I'll read this to you one more time. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you. So, first option is I can take you to jail right now. I have every reason I have everything I need to take you to jail right now. I have a victim and I have two witness statements being filled out right now, okay? And everything that you told me just matched up with exactly what they told me, okay? You were sitting in the seat behind them in the middle aisle and you said, "Oh, it's like I would have to be in front of them." No, when you try to get out of the aisle, that's when you elbowed him, okay? Purposely? And you said and what they're telling me and witnesses are telling me that you said, "Oh, you're on a Frontier flight, deal with it." After you stuck him with his elbow or your his your elbow. >> got with the So, what's going to happen is I can take you to jail. However, what what's going to happen is I'm going to direct file it with the state attorney and let them see if I have enough probable cause and they're going to issue a warrant for your arrest for simple battery. Can we just walk out of here? I need to sit down. I don't feel well. So, if now look, now if we walk out here What? and you try and you try to take off running or something like that, >> No, no. Can we all you can like walk with me? Dad, get the lawyer on the phone. This is ridiculous. Look, >> I've been elbowing this lady on the plane before I even knew it. >> Okay, well then that person should have went to jail, too. No, no. What are you talking about? That's the difference between a shaky plane and was the plane grounded? Okay. >> trying to prove you wrong. This guy I have witnesses saying that you were sitting there kind of constantly pestering them asking about when the drinks are coming out >> What drinks are you talking about? The lady next to me was bleeding next to >> Okay, look. I don't want to fight with you cuz let's just go with the version of the story that includes you being right. No, no, no. I want to go with the correct story. Okay. Okay, I'm not just making up a story. >> just walk out of here? I feel I'm feeling really really trapped. I'll talk to him. Get him a bottle of water. What's up? Um yeah, I'll let him know. You guys still Come over here. Come over here. Come over here. What an arrogant brat she was. She got caught elbowing a stranger and then acted like nothing was wrong. Honestly, she acted so spoiled and ridiculous that it was shocking to watch someone be so disrespectful in public. Now, [music] she was about to learn that Christmas spirit doesn't come in a Starbucks cup at the airport bar. Come over here. You can over here in this corner seat. Oh, yeah. Dad. Come on. Like, what am I supposed to do? Hey, Mike. Mike. >> Let's go with the version >> bring four statements? Wait, I I'm going to go with the option You still need them? Uh no. So, what's going to happen here is like my corporal called me and I gave him an update on everything that happened. Um, I have enough probable cause to arrest or take her to jail right now, but what we're going to do is we're going to It's called direct file. We're going to send it to the state attorney and they'll probably As long as they see that we have enough probable cause, they'll sign it and they'll issue a warrant for arrest for simple battery. Okay. All right. Are you good with that? That's That's fine. I just somebody needs to actually have consequences for their actions. Yeah, I understand. Yeah. Let me uh All right. So, do you want to So, do you want to give me a statement about what happened? A written statement? Yeah, what? Yeah, it's just me and my dad and our lawyer. What? Yeah. I just whatever includes me going home. I don't What? Okay. I don't know this guy. It's not like I like victimized someone. Do you think that Okay. I will. I just I I wonder why this person would be doing this. Like what >> Miss, so can we Let's let's let's Yeah, you're absolutely Just talking to your dad. >> giving me guidance cuz I've never been in this situation and It's It's extending this further than it needs to be. >> Dad. All right, I got to go. I'm going to leave and see him, but let me write the statement. Do you Do you want to give a written statement? And then I can leave? Yes. Okay. All right, come over here. Cuz you [music] you're not going to be able to write sitting down. The officer coordinated with the victim, who was more than happy to see Catherine face some actual consequences for her holiday behavior. Catherine, still on the phone with her dad, finally realized that going home wasn't as simple as she thought. [music] The officer offered her a chance to write a statement, but her dad, acting as a discount lawyer, told her to be succinct. I just trying to wrap this. I What is he's trying to say I did? Hit him? Elbowed him? That you elbowed him in the side of his head. Intentionally? Yes. All right, that's insane. I don't even know him. Why would I do that to a stranger on an airplane? I don't know. I don't know. That's crazy. All right. Right. Ladies and gentlemen on the outside, can we have Stuckey and Lisa >> Sorry, I'll go ahead and do that real quick. Stuckey, do you okay? Please make your way to gate E7 before your plane is departing for Phoenix. >> no. There you go. All right, yeah, let me You need to read your statement. Okay, can I get some water? Cuz I'm being charged and then Hey, I'm just going to do I'm going to do an NTA. >> Yeah. No, yes, let's do that. Yes, I'll read it. I'll sign it. I It's right. I just wanted some water. Okay, we'll get we'll get you we'll get you a water. >> anything. We'll get you a water. So, look, do you want to sign this? Do you want to sign this? It's just saying that you can answer this. >> it, but what's an NTA whatever? >> notice to appear. It's like it's a form of an arrest. But it's not a physical arrest, okay? Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're doing this to me? Yes. I have to go to court? Yes. For what? For misdemeanor simple battery. Wait, okay, um All right, so >> With what evidence? Yeah, I'm going to sign this. But with what evidence? The victim and witness statements. I could have told you. You guys wouldn't listen to me. The guy next to me I had three witnesses. You either take the NTA or go to jail. >> Hear me out. Right now is not the time to ask questions, okay? Okay, fair enough. Do what is being asked. Okay. And then later on when you go to court, those are the times to ask your attorney. Those are the times sign. Right now is not We can't answer We can't answer those questions right now, okay? Wow, wow, she really acted like she was in a drama. She kept denying everything, acting shocked as the officer patiently explained the notice to appear [music] and why she had to face court. Of course, she looked confused and overwhelmed, pretending she had no idea what was happening. >> [music] >> Honestly, she had a lot of growing up to do and needed to learn that actions have real consequences. Okay, right okay, you're right. Thank you. I'm sorry. What are you saying? All right, so this right here This is just This is the oath. what you wrote down is true to your knowledge, okay? All right, all you got to do is select that and just fill in this and this. You got a print your name here, sign here, okay? Does your stomach hurt? >> Yeah. You just escort her to the bathroom and then if she wants to get a water, I'm going to go back here and and do it here. >> water. You just asked for a water, did you not? Hey, why are I the one who is Because I have to do some paperwork, okay? And then you'll be on your way. Yeah, but >> So, yeah, so this is what we're going to do. We're going to do Hello, hello, hello, hello. Look, again, if you try to take off or anything like that, if you refuse to listen to him, you're going to jail. I'm not trying to like run away. I just have to go to the bathroom. So, we're going to go to the bathroom right here and I believe there's a water fountain there. If not I was going to make a joke, but I'm afraid of a joke. >> Are you not listening to me cuz I feel like you're not listening. We're going to go to the bathroom here, okay? You're going to go to the bathroom, do what you need to do, and we're going to get you a water, and then we're going to come back here. Yeah, but Do you understand? >> Perfect, let's go ahead. But can you not Can we actually This is more of a police escort rather than mandatory cuz I'm really embarrassed. All right, well you're going to be with him. I'm going to go do some paperwork. It's It's part It's part of what we do. Right? We have to investigate what happened. And that's what we do. But I thought we were already done with that part. Yeah, but he's Again, he's giving you paperwork you to take with you. Okay. Come in. Give us a second. He's right there. All right, officer. >> [music] >> I've got to get a quick call break from her right here. Her night ended with a signature and a very long walk of shame through the Tampa Airport. Katherine learned the hard way that Frontier flight rules don't [music] include a free pass to elbow fellow passengers in the head. What was supposed to be a holiday homecoming turned into a misdemeanor battery charge >> [music] >> and a future date with a judge. Some people just can't handle their holiday spirits >> [music] >> and Katherine is now the poster child for why the airport bar has limits. She was officially served with a notice to appear for simple battery, a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida. >> [music] >> Do you think she should have gone straight to jail instead of getting a notice to appear? Let us know your thoughts on this Christmas meltdown in the comments. Make sure to subscribe for more airport drama and body cam breakdowns. >> [music] >> Hit the notification bell so you never miss a recap of passengers losing their minds at 30,000 ft.
