Hi, I'm firefighter paramedic Carl Montagana, and welcome to what's on the truck Tuesdays. Today, we're going to talk about my favorite tool on this truck, the Halligan. It's our three-in-one multi-tool. So, on this Halligan, you have a pick end, an adz end, and a pry end. We use this tool for forcible entries. So, these are able to get into doors, whether it's breaking the locks, also breaking the door down to get into a medical emergency, or if we have a structure fire, commercial structure fire, this is the tool that we use to get into the buildings. Also, we use this on some car accidents as well. If we have to pop the hood off, or if we have to break glass, we use that pick end at the bottom. Fun fact, the Halligan bar was first invented in 1948 by the FDNY's first deputy chief, Hugh Halligan. That's where you get the name, Halligan bar.
