On June 20th, 2024, officers were called when a woman was caught stealing items from Nordstrom. Then this happened. How much is the penny out of the stuff? Sure. Oh, wow. Is that all the stuff? So, this is our stuff and then she also has stuff from Walmart and then Home Depot. So, her story is that um she's guys going to like a private place for us to I'm assuming she's going to come back after we talk. Yeah. Yeah. You've never been here? Not for I mean, I've been here. Shopping here. I bought stuff here. Now, how do you think I got over there right now? I think that Nordstrom I think we got You don't speak in front of her. I just got So, she's just saying she has a partner with whom that told her that he paid for the stuff prior and then he sent her pictures or told her what items they are and then she went to pick them up. So, she wants to also pay for it after she leaves. So. So, she wants to pay for the items? She wants to pay for it um but she's claiming that it was paid for prior, too. So, kind of like a layaway. So, she thought in her mind she's already like these items that she's getting are paid for. Correct. Yes, that her partner paid for them and then he just told her which items they are. And that is here and at Walmart and at Home Depot. So, the other stuff is that like in her car or something or, like, what? It's in the bag. I separated it from what's ours versus what's personal bag or something like She had a backpack, kind of like a duffel bag, and then two two Whole Foods bags with foil. Like the ones for like cold items. Okay. I see. And so, all that's in the office with someone. Okay. What's this? Is it So, this is just ours. Yeah, so I just made a receipt for it. So, we kind of kind of get a total. So, it wasn't like she came up and got bags or something. She brought in her own bags and put them in there. Correct. Yes. Okay. Do you know who this person is? Is he supposed to be here or She said she keeps saying that she has a ride at 2:00. She wanted us to release her. I said, "Unfortunately, I can't release you." And then she just kept saying that the Pace bus was picking her up and taking her home. I'm assuming you guys are looking to pursue charges on this. I believe that Orchard does prosecute. Okay. Yeah. Okay, well, we're we're different than that. We're the police. You're going to want to you're going to want to explain it to us since we're the police and we have to write a report on what you're saying. So if you have anything that's pertinent to your situation, now would be the best time. Yes, well, then I'll say that there are other parties involved. This is I think I mean it's supposed to be a supportive system. Um I don't do this because I want to or have to at this point. Um but it's not an isolated activity and um you know, I guess certain stores tolerate it or know more about it. Um this one evidently not. So it became a problem. Here's a video clip of her picking out the items she was about to steal. It looks like she didn't even care about the surveillance cameras in the store. What do you mean by tolerate it? What is it that is being tolerated? The the lifestyle. I mean, I go in and pick things. Especially here, it became more obvious like what what they want to chosen. Um the items and uh for like groceries or um Home Depot especially, this was a task that like my family wanted done. Um so, you know, I I made the effort to come out here to get those patches. Um and, you know, my understanding is that it's taken care of. So, I'm I'm surprised. Some other stores seem to be more tolerant. There's a grocery store I go to, I pick up a few things occasionally. There have been no problems. People have looked the other way. Um so, and I think it's I think it's a personal thing within the stores. Um they they they're aware of this situation. Um so, I don't have trouble like this. Um if you could check and if if you could check um if there has been any higher level kind of um information given that might have been missed. Uh that would be appreciated, but When you say tolerant, do you mean like they tolerate shoplifting? They the the personnel kind of look the other way. Ah, so you know what you're doing then, right? Like you're saying you go in here and take the stores and you shoplift. Some stores tolerate it and some don't. And obviously Yes, because right, because because um right, that was my mistake. Maybe it was supposed to be uh a known mistake or what or purposeful mistake. But this I'm not in this is not an isolated It's supposed to be a supported system. It's supposed to be a way that things are done and um you know, other people have to live under these conditions, too. Has someone told you that this is something that is okay or Yes. Who told you that? Um well, like right now, it's just it's a supported system. Um you know, there are people that are aware of this and um make sure that at certain places it's allowed, basically. Mhm. So, I guess it wasn't a mistake that it'd be a problem here. Yeah. So, you knew you weren't sure if they would allow you to do it here? No, it was odd because there was there's communication and um they uh you know, support certain decisions or guide decisions. I'm not doing it on my own. Um Where are these items from in here? Right there is from There's some items from Home Depot and some items from Target or or Walmart. That happened today? Did you go in there today? Yes, and it was Yeah. tolerated? Yes. So, you stole it from Walmart and Home Depot and they tolerated it. and the the store like when I walked out of Walmart, um the cashier was like turned away and looking What What time did you go to uh Target Sorry. What time did you go to Home Depot at? Just prior. I got dropped off at around 11:30 today because I I don't have a car and I didn't want to bike today. So, um I went um by Peace Bus. So, you went into Home Depot around 11:30. What time did you go to Walmart? Uh Um Uh like an hour a half an hour afterwards. So, around noon or 12:30-ish. And these All these items in here are mixture of Home Depot and Walmart? Yes, sir. Okay. So, you had been You first had You had all of these bags with you when you got off the bus, right? Correct. And then you brought them into first Home Depot, Sure. took some items from there without paying, left the store, no one stopped you or anything like that. And then you continued maybe walked over to Walmart, is that the case? Correct. Okay. From Walmart, you brought in all the same stuff to Walmart. Um did you try to check out, or did you go directly to the exit after you're done grabbing things? Oh, um well, here I actually tried to check out, and the line was too long. So, I I was a little upset. I told them already, like, it's not like I don't have the means to do it. This is just the way it's coached, and if they could take a photo, I would buy the shoes. I could buy the shoes now. How did you guys stop her? Like like I went, um made sure that she put all everything in her bag, and then I made sure that she left the store, like the store? Yeah, so after the door. Okay. So, she passed She passed What's up? In the vestibule. In the vestibule, or outside? Yeah. So, she walked past the last line, is that it? She passed it up. Are these from uh Home Depot? Those are, yes. Um yeah. And is there Is this the only stuff you stole from Home Depot? That's the only things that were There's four things, yes. So, four things. One, two, three, four, and she got caught. The rest of this is from Walmart? Correct. Did you have like a list of stuff that you needed to get, or was this all just spontaneous stuff that you were getting today? There was some communication, um and I actually came for this captions, and um Yeah. the seven uh those. So, I I came mostly for those. And who told you to get those items? This is supposed to be a general system. So, no one. So, you you decided that you needed these items. No. It It was not an isolated decision. I don't know. But the thing is is it's supposed to be a general a a supported system, unfortunately, but you know, I'm living in it. I don't want it to uh get in trouble or whatever, and people seem to have the means to make this accessible. Um I'm very surprised here, but perhaps the error is the the store itself. Um I But, you know, this has been going on for a bit. I'll just Um And you pay for all of this. I'll go to Home Depot. I'll go to Home Depot, get a receipt for this, and I'll pull a separate number. Mhm. I'll take this report, and then I'll write a new empty for this. Yeah, cuz that's going to be a problem. And then I'll go to Walmart, figure out the value, pull a separate number for that, and we'll figure it out in jail. Mhm. Okay. Unfortunately, that's Yeah. That's kind of how it's going to happen. This is the situation. After all of this, yeah. Can I Is it possible just to to leave today with a warning, and then if you take a photo of the shoes, I literally I can either pay in in um e- e- something off my phone. Seriously, like it's not that I don't have the means. I don't like explaining it because it's very complicated. Um but, if you if you took a photo, or if you were a I was allowed to pay for that. I was able to get two things from Home Depot. Probably at this point nothing You were you were allowed to pay. When you walked in, you were allowed to pay. They always allow you to pay for items. But, that's not the point. Um it's the it's the situation. I this it seems to be a store by store Listen, I will I can pay for these. I can walk with you, return the things, and pay for the ones that I want to keep. The problem is not with me. You're past that. I still have to read something to her to sign. Seriously, this is This is the the way this is to No, you cannot purchase anything. In the future? Um So, the next one is going to be Um I am in a voluntary will, but I tried to promise that on 6/20/24, I caused the following loss of the listed below from Nordstrom. You Um caused 1,282.58 cents. for And then you initial right here, and then you need to sign your name right here. I'm assuming all of these were stuff that were in her bags originally? Were these Were these stuff in like the backpack or something? her put it in here and there. Backpack or something? So, we are referring to the police for prosecution. Thank you.
