Okay. >> Police, let me see your hand. >> Oh my god. Is that real? >> Yeah. Please. >> Oh my god. >> This man got stuck in a cage with a dangerous tiger. The cops had to risk their own lives to save her from the beast. >> In December, after the Naples Zoo had shut its gates for the day, a cleaner ignored multiple warning signs and walked straight into a death trap near the tiger enclosure. But he had no idea he was walking into his final moments. Please help me. Please. >> Oh my god. Is that real? >> Yeah. Please. >> Oh my god. Please help me. >> Please help. Please. Please. Please help. >> Hey, you're going to have to [ __ ] >> Please. Oh my god. >> You got a tranquilizer? >> No. [Music] Oh Jesus. I'm going to die. I'm going to die. I'm going to die. I'm die. I'm going to die. I'm going to die. I'm [Music] >> all right. Let's keep the light on. Naples one char 10 shots fired. >> Come here, bud. Come here. >> Yeah, I know. Okay. >> Hey. Hey. >> I need a light right here. >> Yeah, >> Jake. >> Shine it on me. >> Here. Here's the tourniquet, bro. >> Come and grab him here. >> Where's the AR? >> No, just grab him and flip him over. >> Okay, you're okay. You're okay. We got you. >> Yep. Notify the field lieutenant on that arm. Come respond. >> According to the police report, the man reached through the secondary fence to pet the tiger because what could go wrong? One not so smart decision put an officer in an impossible situation. He had to take the tiger's life. If this incident taught anyone a lesson, it didn't stick because a few weeks later, a wise employee at a Florida Everglades tourist spot decided to test their luck. >> Nacho, what were you doing in the cage? On March 22nd, 2022, a tiger was being fed by its handler in an enclosed area when some unauthorized employee decided it was the perfect time for a little petting session. Because what could possibly go wrong when you interrupt a hungry tiger mid dinner? >> They're on their way. >> So, can you get a hold of them and tell them to drive all the way back? >> 1065. >> I know. We got to wrap it a little tight. Nacho. All right. >> 721 alpha 11. >> All right. >> Got to lay a little still. >> They're coming. The ambulance is coming. >> All right. >> If you're coming, come back and grab whatever gauze you have in your medical kit. Okay. >> I'm Please. >> It's They're coming. >> As long as they're not too nasty. Ah, okay. >> Nacho, what were you doing in the cage? >> Okay, here. Lift up your arm a little bit so I can get this underneath. Okay, >> just let me know if so I can stand by the elevator. They >> did call trauma alert. >> I I don't know if they did or not. Okay, hold on. Let's We're going to wrap it around another one here. Okay. >> Okay, lift lift your arm up for me. Okay, there we go. I just want to try to keep it out of the dirt and try to keep it as clean as possible. >> Time at the ambulance. >> Everyone's just coming. They're coming. I just talked to the guy. He said they were coming. They were right in front of him. Okay. >> Okay. So, let's just >> I'm in bed. >> Okay. >> No, no, no. You're all right. >> No, no, no, no. You're going to be fine. It's okay. >> Your arms are >> Does anything else hurt besides your arms? >> No. >> Is it just your arms, Nacho? >> Does anything else hurt beside your arms? >> You were doing the knees. Okay. Did she only bite your arms, Nacho? >> I think it's just his arms. >> They're here. >> Yep, they're here. We just >> Medics are here. >> It's just your arms bleeding through. >> I think it's just the arms. >> Here they are. >> The tiger attacked the employee, a 50-year-old man, injuring both of his arms. Fortunately, the caretaker was able to contain the animal before things got worse. Unsurprisingly, the tiger wasn't exactly in the mood for petting. But that wasn't nearly as terrifying as what happened in Pedleton when officers faced something even more dangerous than a tiger. >> Okay. Are you safe? >> Yeah. I need you to >> Okay. All hell broke loose on June 20th, 2021 when cops in Northeast Oregon got called to a house on Northwest Re. A chimpanzee had broken free from its cage and was attacking the homeowner's daughter like something out of a horror movie. >> No, there's a secondary fence under the patio. >> Yeah, this one is. Oh, buddy. All right, I'm going to try to get in for a Hey, is there somebody there? >> Okay. Are you safe? >> Yeah. I need you to shoot him. Okay, >> he's down. >> 3242. Shots fired. >> We need the ambulance in immediately. >> Here's the thing about chimps. They're five times stronger than humans. And when they snap, they don't just bite. They rip, tear, and destroy everything in their path. This wasn't just an animal attack. This was a life ordeath battle. When the chimp became a deadly threat, the cop had no choice but to take it down and save the girl's life. Turns out chimps don't make great neighbors. And this one got evicted the hard way. But that wasn't the only time a wild animal turned on the people who cared for it. >> As he was attacking her right here. Okay. >> In late 2022, a zookeeper was feeding a bear named Johnny when she accidentally left a gate open. She stepped away to grab food for another bear, but before she could return, Johnny was already fighting with the other bear through an unlocked fence. According to the report, Johnny charged straight at her, knocking her off her feet. Staff rushed in, trying everything to pull him back. But in the end, the fight to save her came at a devastating cost. >> You witness any of this happening? >> He came up as he was attacking her right here. Okay. What What did you see happen? >> Uh, we I mean, we saw the bear attacking her here. The gun team deployed and came out and shot the bear and we were able to approach her. >> Uhhuh. >> And >> during the attack, zoo staff had to make the ultimate choice and put Johnny down to save the keeper's life. She was rushed to the hospital and survived though she was seriously hurt. For a place built on caring for animals, it was a devastating outcome. While Florida was dealing with full-grown bear gone rogue, Alaska had a different kind of bear problem. Keep [Music] going. >> In Petersburg, Alaska, the daily grocery run took a wild turn. Literally, a black bear cub, probably no older than a few months, decided it was time to upgrade from berries to aisle snacks. Keep going. Pushing this way. Got him. >> Where do you want to put in this thing now? >> Back in the truck. >> Back of the truck. Put him in the extend. >> Put him in the back of the Jeep truck. >> Yeah. Put him in ours. >> Not yours. Right here. >> Just put him in ours and we'll take him out the road to dump him. [Applause] Oh, and uh we got a little jail. >> Why you laughing? >> Can you put the whole thing in there? >> Maybe. >> Just open the door. It'll run out. How does it come about? Hey, >> can you lower this window about 4 in? >> Okay. Uh, let's take them up to the >> dump. Dump or twins? Dump. >> How are we going to get this off? >> I don't know. Unfortunately, the animal was later euthanized as authorities determined it posed a safety risk and was habituated to humans. Fun fact, bears that become habituated to humans, meaning they lose their natural fear, often start relying on human food sources like garbage, pet food, or unsecured kitchens. That shift can make it harder for them to feed naturally if those human sources disappear. Meanwhile, in another city, someone discovered something sweeter than the woods. Bear. Bear, get out of here, Gar. >> Residents of Semi Valley got an unusual visitor when a bear wandered in through an unlocked kitchen door. Apparently more interested in leftovers than the woods. >> There you bear. Bear, get out of here, Gar. Go. Get out of here, Bear. inside the house. >> He just treated himself. You want me to get him out of here? >> Uh, let's keep an eye on him. >> Eventually, officers got a rubber projectile launcher to send the uninvited guest on its way. Luckily, no one was hurt except maybe the cake. In Semi Valley, leaving your door unlocked doesn't just invite trouble. It might invite a bear with a sweet tooth. However, the deer in the next case took burglary to a new level. [Music] >> In Lufkin, Texas, police surrounded a home after the resident reported signs of a possible break-in, a shattered window, blood on the floor, and a whole lot of panic. One of the homeowners even hid in a closet while waiting for help, which honestly was the most brilliant move of the night. Officers entered the house ready to confront a dangerous intruder. But instead of a burglar, they found the real culprit. But what they found instead left them stunned. >> Lose your hand. >> Where's your hand? There's someone inside. Hey, we got the house running. Come on out. Can't get it. >> The police. Let me see your head. >> That's a deer. It's a deer. It's a deer. It's a deer. Stand down. Go. Go. Go. I'm here. Come on. [Music] >> I know. Get the [ __ ] over here. Go. Come on. There it is. [Music] Open the door. Open the door. Open the door. Golly. [Music] There we go. >> Officers, with a bit of help from animal control, eventually coax the deer out through the front door. It had torn through the house like it was late for a meeting, leaving behind a trail of destruction and a very expensive mess. On the bright side, no one was hurt, unless you count the homeowner's wallet. Next, officers came face to face with a wildlife about as far from a friendly house cat as you can get. >> In Portage County, Wisconsin, authorities responded after a driver raised an alarm about potentially dangerous wildlife under the hood of their car. hit it out of the back of your squad. >> He's going to go crazy and he's probably going to choke out >> and we'll close the close the tailgate. You around it. Now >> I don't want a girl want to sit this one. I think I got him. Yeah, I got him. A big one, too. With help from a conservation warden, the bobcat was safely removed and released back into its natural habitat, unharmed and probably just as confused as everyone else. Although documented bobcats on people are rare, they're not friendly either. While some animals wander into trouble, that wasn't the case for the genius who decided a chimpanzee would make a great pet. [Music] What's the problem there? >> The chip. My friend. >> In February 2009, Travis, a 14-year-old chimpanzee raised like a child, suddenly snapped. His owner, Sandre Harold, called her friend and employee, Carla Nash, hoping she could help calm him down. But the moment Carla showed up holding one of his favorite toys, Travis viciously attacked her. Sandra also attempted to stop him by hitting him with a shovel and stabbing him with a knife. But despite this, Travis continued the attack. >> 911, where's your emergency? >> This is 241. Black criminal. >> What's the problem? >> The police. Send the police. >> What's the problem there? >> The chip. My friend. >> What's the problem with your friend? >> Please. What's the problem with your friend? I need to know. >> The police out with a gun. With a gun. Hurry up. >> Has a gun. >> Please hurry up. He's my girlfriend. >> What is the problem? >> He's killing my friend. >> Who's your friend? >> Killed my chimpanzeee. >> Oh, your chimpan is killing your friend. >> She He ripped your part. Hurry up. >> With a gun. >> Hurry up. Please. >> There's someone on the way. >> With guns, please. >> What is the monkey doing? Tell me what the monkey >> He ripped her face off. >> He ripped her face off. >> He tried to try and attack me. Please. Please. >> Okay, I need you to calm down a little bit. They're on the way. Can you push yourself away? I don't want the monkey attacking you. >> Please hurry up. Listen to me. >> All right, they're on the way, man. >> They got to Please, please hurry. Hurry. >> Are you there with your friend? I need you to help your friend. Can you go help your friend? >> I can't. He tried to attack me now. >> Is he still there with your friend? >> Yes. Okay, so then back off then. Don't get any closer, okay? They're already on the way. >> When officers arrived, they fired four shots at Travis. He ran off but later succumbed to his injuries. Carla Nash's injuries were beyond severe. Despite extensive surgeries, she was left with lifelong disabilities. She later received a $4 million settlement from the estate of Travis's owner, Sandre Harold. However, not every encounter with a wild animal turns deadly. They're like, "Oh crap, don't tear out my car, please." They're climbing on my car. >> In the early hours of December 5th, 2023, a startled resident in Baker, Florida, spotted something moving along Old River Road. Small, furry, and definitely not what you'd expect to see out for a midnight stroll. >> Okay. >> There's a a zoo somewhere close by. >> Okay. Well, hello. >> Friendly. >> I thought I'd get in the truck with you. They want to check out everything. All right. >> Yeah, they're they're completely friendless. >> Uh I'm still a little timid, I ain't going to lie. Oh, hello. Yeah. >> I wonder if they're from the zoo or if it's >> No, don't you bite me. I'll bite you in the nose. >> Yeah, don't let it bite you. >> No. No. >> Turns out these weren't just any cubs. They were Kodiak bears, a species native only to Alaska and one of the largest bear species on Earth. Authorities tracked them back to a nearby home where a bear trainer had been keeping them in a poorly secured enclosure. The Florida Wildlife Commission hit the trainer with multiple wildlife violations, including import and enclosure breaches. As for the cubs, they were safely relocated to Zoo World in Panama City Beach. Hopefully, their wandering days are over.
