On June 9th, 2025, officers respond to an early morning call and begin sorting through conflicting accounts surrounding a heated dispute inside a shared home. >> Police Department just body cam. What's uh what's going on, man? >> Yeah, I mean, he kind of had me like like this when I hit him, you know, grabbing one of my legs, trying to pull me. So, you know, I obviously defended myself. He was even yelling like, "Oh, so this all your legs up." >> Um, I was just laying down. He was in the kitchen and I just told him like, "Hey, aren't you going to go to your dad's house?" Cuz you know, he told me he was going to move over there. You know, two people living right here. It's just not enough space. >> So, you guys both sleep in here? >> Uh, I mean, for the moment, yeah, he said uh yesterday he was going to leave and he came back yesterday and then he came back today. So, I just told him, "Hey, are you going to leave?" And I guess he got mad and it was a verbal conflict. >> Okay. And then when did it turn physical? Um, I'd probably say once he started walking over there >> and what happened? >> Well, I I I kept saying get get away and I I shoved him cuz I I I don't >> uh No, he was probably much closer than that. Probably like a step more closer. >> Okay. >> And it's like, you know, like >> Yeah. >> like get away, you know? Like I'm Yeah, I've been through situations like this. You know, you're not supposed to let someone get like thating close. >> Okay. So then you shoved him back and then what happened? Uh after that we were kind of both making like we were going to hit each other and I I I I trying to remember trying to remember. I think I let one go first. Uh >> yeah, but I it wasn't like oh I'm attacking him for no reason, you know. >> It was just cuz he was getting up in your face. I >> I mean Yeah. >> Okay. >> So then you hit him. What? Where'd you hit him the first time? >> Like in that side of the head? >> I I think Yeah, cuz it was an open hand. Yeah. >> Okay. And then um how do you spell your first name? And so you sleep here. Where does he sleep? >> Uh basically right here. >> He just sleeps in the recliner. >> Yeah. >> Was anyone else around when the fight was happening? >> No, it was it was like 4:00. Everyone was sleeping. >> It was 4:00 a.m. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Give me a couple minutes. I'll be right back. Okay. Well, >> you want to switch out? Sure. All right. >> So, I know you just told him what's going on, man. >> Uh, it was just a little conflict. >> Okay. >> What does that look like? >> Uh, I mean, it's it's usually just arguing. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What started everything? Um, I think he didn't like when I told him to, you know, go to his dad's house. But like I told the other officer, he's been telling me these past two days, this weekend, >> that he was going to move. So, I just told him multiple times, hey, aren't you going to go? >> I I guess he started getting mad. I just repeated it again cuz I didn't feel like I was asking anything bad in a bad tone at least. >> Just knowing. Okay. So, you guys just he got pissed off about that. >> He's he's he's intoxicated, so I imagine Yeah, he probably was upset over that. >> Mhm. Okay. And then what happened after that? Uh after that we were both kind of just like right here arguing and then we kind of both got up to each other >> and I pushed him cuz >> yeah I told the other officer >> and that's kind of when we were both uh you know kind of acting like we were going to hit each other >> and I I I I did uh I did I I did I guess I was the first one to live one of those. Uh it was an open hand. Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Did he throw anything back at you? >> Uh I don't know. Told the other officer was uh was trying uh try to, you know, grab me, pull me off the couch. >> Mhm. >> That's what I'm saying. It was like neutral. It wasn't just like, oh, I came up to him, started hitting him, >> stuff like that. >> Okay. You guys kind of both going at it. >> I mean, yeah. That's kind [snorts] of why we're told to, you know, not, you know, be in the same household. >> Mhm. How long have you guys lived together? >> Uh, I was like a week. Week. >> So, your whole life? >> No, a week. >> Oh, a week. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Whole life. But I was with my mom and I came over here. >> So, he told me like, "Hey, if you're going to come over here, I'm going go to my dad's >> and he hasn't done that yet. >> Where's his dad?" I mean, uh, it's like [snorts] over by around the clock. >> Okay. >> And I think now since, uh, since, you know, he was intoxicated and all that, I think he didn't want to drive. >> Okay. >> Did you guys get along before before you looked together? >> I mean, I kind of want to say he's always been like this. If I'm being honest, Is that why you guys kind of stopped living together for a while? >> Yeah. >> You mentioned something about the dog and you thought that you were upset him because he was petting your dog. >> I mean, he was he was definitely making noise. Yeah, I told him like, "Hey, why are you like it's like 4:00 a.m. and all you hear is, >> you know, I kind of told him like, "Hey, stop making like I I swear, bro, if I I'll be honest. If I told him, hey, shut the I'll tell you. I told him shut up." >> I told him, "Hey, like don't don't make noise. >> You're just trying to get some sleeping cuz >> Yeah. Then like no one understands. Everyone's just like, "Oh, no. He was in the kitchen. You're in the living room. Be okay with making noise." Mhm. >> I'm I'll tell someone to, you know, make a little noise. That does give them a reason to start arguing back because you could have a normal conversation. There's no need to argue. >> Your joke sometimes that makes it, you know, difficult to have a normal conversation. >> Yeah, that's that's that's what they were telling me. They were like, "Hey, you probably should have >> Would you be able to just come over here to assist with translation real quick?" >> Okay. There's some floor. >> All right. Um, so if you want to just stand up. So in Illinois, domestic violence act is very specific. >> Uh, when we have probable cause to arrest somebody, we have to by law. So you are under arrest for domestic battery. Right now, >> it's [snorts] it's not him, man. He >> even if it was neutral, it's really going to be I was telling you he primary. So he was literally grabbing my >> since you hit him first. Yeah, >> you get the uh the domest. >> Yeah. >> Here. I got you. I got him, man. >> All right, we're going to come over here. Now I got the camera in my car. Can you take pictures of the injuries and the blood on the floor? All right. You just going to chill here real quick. Sorry, buddy. All right. I'm going to have a seat in there. All right. All right. All right. We're going to go up that ramp towards the door. Okay. You guys good to start the processing while I get all this done? While I get all the complaints done. Okay. >> Mhm. >> What's your name? >> Eduardo. >> Eduardo. >> Eduardo, you got anything on me that's going to poke, stick, hurt me? >> No. All right, go ahead and take the cuffs off. Just say stay on those foots. I'm going to take your left hand cuff out first. When I do, put your hand on this side. Okay. >> You got a t-shirt underneath? >> Yeah. >> Go ahead and take your sweatshirt off. Any jewelry on you? >> No. >> No. >> No. >> You're wearing a belt? >> Uh, no. >> No. Okay. All right. Go ahead and stay on the footprints. Can you take your shoes off? All right. Go ahead and just pick your pick your leg up. Your foot up. >> Oh, put your hands back against the wall. >> Pick your leg up. Go like this. Just straight back and up. Yeah. >> So, you see the bottom. Go ahead. You can keep your shoes off. Check this off first. >> I guess they offer stuff in. Do you want a blanket? >> Uh, I'll take one actually. >> Is there any way I can ask how long you're going to be here? I know it's not like >> something I should be asking, but >> we're doing all the paperwork, all the processing. Um, we'll keep you updated along the way. Um, but yeah, >> 105 step out. We're going to do uh fingerprints and photographs. Okay. You got any scars? >> Any burns on your fingertips? >> Okay. >> Just any fingertips. Okay. >> Your left hand. >> Just step in that blue box.
