This is Walmart. >> Walmart. >> Are you injured? >> No, I'm not, but >> Okay, are you injured? >> I have a customer that's bleeding. He's bleeding everywhere. >> Anyone who's bleeding, I need you to apply direct pressure. One abdominal, one upper arm, possibly chest area, and then one lady might be in the back. >> I'm going to let you go. If anything gets worse or changes or you need further assistance, call back at 911. 911, where is your emergency? >> I'm right in front of Walmart. >> Are you involved at all? >> No. >> Do you see the man with the knife? Where is he right now? >> aisle, second aisle from the end, IN THE PARKING LOT. HE'S DOWN, HE'S ON THE GROUND. >> HE'S ON THE GROUND? >> OF PEOPLE around him with a gun. Say again, please. Oh, the police are here. >> Okay, I'm going to put you on hold. >> are here. >> I'll be right back, okay? >> In all, three dispatchers processed 55 calls surrounding this incident. Bystanders held the suspect at gunpoint and pinned him to the ground before officers arrived to apprehend. The time between the first 911 call and the suspect's arrest took less than 5 minutes. >> Stay right there, you're not going anywhere. It does not matter that you're in cuffs. If you move, I will taze you. >> How many wounded? >> At least two. >> Stop. >> Okay, sorry. >> This is not the time to talk. You lean against the car. You just stabbed two people. You are done. You have the right to remain silent. You're going to stay right here, right now, and you are not going to move. Is there any other weapons on you? >> No. >> No, that should be everything. Every quarter, every everything. >> You're going to hop up here and get in the back of this car right now. 31's up there on the left or under your leg. >> How you doing? >> I got a house packet. >> I got one right here. >> Slip this under. >> Okay. Pressure back on. Pressure back on. >> Keep your breath as you can, okay? >> What's your name? >> I think so. >> My name is Grant Tiffany. >> You're not a cop, then. >> Yep. >> Do you guys have any more need of a cop right here, right now? >> No. >> You're good? Okay. Employees, can you all move to the front of the store, please, if you're not actively aiding this person? >> Can I help you at all with the next exercise? >> have any exercise. I need a cop. >> You just need a cop? Okay. >> Hey, cop. >> There, okay, the one down there I think is priority. She's got two. >> one down there, too. >> She's bleeding much harder. There we go. Nice and easy, Cindy. >> Right on it. >> You're doing great, okay? >> You all right? >> Good job. Good job. >> Yep. There we go. There we go. Okay. They >> We did but we've been down here. We cleared it for the suspect. I didn't see I did not see anybody. >> I didn't either. Here is a bystander already touched it but set it down. We'll take photos. >> Yep. >> I want to say that I had that knife on me in the [ __ ] store. >> Okay, don't don't leave. We're going to have to talk to you, okay? Do you understand the rights that I read you? >> Yeah. >> Okay, I'm going to read them again just to make sure. Do you understand these rights? >> so. >> Okay, stay there. There's no way that car is going to move in at least the next 10 minutes. Two people just got stabbed. >> but they're just telling us to leave. So, what do you want me to stay? >> hang out in your car in the AC for now. Open your mouth. Anything in your mouth? Go ah. Okay. Everybody's safe. Okay. Can can you just hang out Did you see what happened? >> I I just saw the guy run. >> Okay, if you could just hang out somebody will >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Somebody will come down or to talk to you, okay? >> I had a guy. >> Yep. Both victims are right up there. >> Um, here with you guys outside. Yeah, there might be two victims and only really have one in custody. >> Is there anybody else with you? >> No. >> You're here by yourself? >> Yeah. >> How did you get here? >> I took the bus. >> And you've been by yourself the whole time? >> Yeah. >> We got criminals in there. My stuff. >> He said he rode the bus here by himself. He was the only one here. >> What's your full name? >> Bradford James Dow. >> Central 963, can you meet me on lane for the suspect's file? >> While this officer stands by the suspect, another questions witnesses. >> I saw two ladies started screaming. The guy was on the floor. My wife's standing here with me. I go over to see him. He's like laid out on the floor. >> Been stabbed in his chest. >> There was a couple people trying to help him. >> So, I looked up like this. Everybody was scattering. My wife's right next to me. I grab her. I'm like, let's go. There's a main aisle. We're walking this way. As we're coming up to it within 20 ft, I seen one guy, two guys running just like this. >> Side by side? >> Side by side towards the front of the store. >> Towards the exit. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I grab my wife thinking, okay, let's go with them. I'm literally right behind them almost. And as the guys running, they dodge one lady like this and the guy reached out and just stabs her just like that. What was unusual? The other guy never stopped. He kept running with the guy. So, I grab my wife so I could get out the back way of the store and that's where we came out. >> Did you see the other person who was running with a knife or anything? Were >> say that I did. >> Were they right next to each other or >> Side by side. >> Can you describe what they were wearing at all? >> Listen, it happened so fast. No, once I process it in my mind, I probably can. I mean, I'm I'm shaking right now. My, you know, I have my wife and my son in there. >> Description for the suspect. Black vans, blue long shorts, digital tan camo shirt and a black hat. I spoke with him and he said he arrived on the beta bus by himself and was by himself the entire time. >> What are you doing? >> I'm thirsty. >> Okay, that's too bad right now. Okay. Eventually, somebody will come through and get a statement from you. Right now, we're working on getting everybody out of here. Can you fit an ambulance through here right now? Cuz this is where he dumped Okay. Okay. >> We got more officers. We got families to go home, too. >> Uh, unfortunately, we got a lot to work through right now. Sir, can I chat with you? Did you see any other people or is it just one person? >> just one person. >> He looks like that. but if there was a right thing he had his backpack on his back and he was pacing back and forth around the corner by the pharmacy. >> Well, I just came back from shooting out in the country and I was coming into the store to grab some stuff for dinner my wife asked me to grab and I heard screaming that he stabbed someone he stabbed someone. I walked up to the front I walked I saw all the pandemonium people on the floor an older guy was standing with that kid must have just got him. I come outside I see him with a knife and he's headed towards these guys so I pulled out and told him was telling him to drop it and drop it and drop it. He had the knife and he was coming towards and then he he slowly started backing up and then I got him to fold it up and he put it on top of the bar and told him to get on the ground. He put it on the ground he's asking for people to call 911 saying that they told me to do it and that they're evil obviously something is Once he was down on the ground I put my firearm away. >> Do you mind waiting in your vehicle in case we have any more questions for you? >> Sure, just give me a call I'm right here. >> Okay and you still got your firearm on you? >> No oh no no no I put I put that I wasn't going to carry that into the scene. Locked up okay. Got more sense than that. >> Okay, ma'am you need to go back in. Roll your window down. Tell her that ambulance is about to come through here to million miles an hour she needs to be out of the way. >> Yeah, working through it out here it sounds like the suspect was seen running through the store with another individual but they were likely not related. >> There was a second guy black shirt. I'm just making sure that the guy that I saw in the video. >> Yeah oh yeah that's yeah. >> I did not see the second guy. >> Got you. >> I was chasing him off the building with my bike. >> Central 963 I've got a witness out here in black shorts and a purple shirt that states that he was the one chasing him through the store. >> Clear suspect left the backpack unsure what is in it checking the outside believe to be second assailant is not credible I repeat not credible. >> How bad are you bleeding? >> I don't think that I am. >> Hey, good to see you, Bryce. We got evidence around here. >> We So, knife is here, and then the entire store is going to be I mean, from what I understand, he was running through the store slashing. He's got some cuts on his hands, pretty much scabbed over. Yeah, they're pretty much scabbed over at this point. >> How many victims do we have? >> At least five or six, I think. >> We need all exterior entrances to the Walmart parking lot closed off. The city's going to help with that, and then we'll work on setting up an inner perimeter here. >> 363, you have somebody that says he's shooting >> He's at the store. >> 63, I'm with that individual right now. >> And my daughter's with us, and as we were checking out, I heard one of the employees running down the middle aisle screaming, "The man's got a knife! The man's got a knife!" I seen him stab a couple people on the way out, so I just chased him down with the cart and started slamming him into him. >> I seen you do that, man. That's why I come back up here. >> All I could do is I just started going after him. I'm a former Marine, former corrections officer. >> And what kind of knife was it? Do you recall? >> It's on the back of the bumper over there. It's a Buck knife. >> Okay. >> Like a wooden handle with a clip? >> Yeah, the the one single flip. It was probably about 4 to 5 inches long blade. >> And as he ran out, he stabbed that lady right here. He just came up behind her and hit her right in the the side and just kept going. >> And he tried I think he tried to turn around and come after her again, and that's when he seen me. I whacked his ass. I tried to kick the cart up and slam it on his >> He kept hiding behind the pole. But once he got the knife out of his hands, we just tackled his ass on the ground. And I had the knife in my hands, but I I had it closed. >> Closed up. >> I was just going If he was going to get up, I was going to punch him >> Basically. >> And then the other deputy ran in with a rifle, and we spun him over, and I held his feet for him. He had to be on drugs the way he was looking at me. >> Eyes were just just rambling about [ __ ] >> They're they're bad people in here, and I'm a soldier, and this is [ __ ] >> Just cuz obviously very chaotic for everyone. For me, just trying to process all this information. >> He tried to flip back over on the deputy. I helped him get him back on his stomach. >> Can you hang out for a while in case some of the detectives want to talk to you? >> I got family right now. We got to go. >> Well, I got your phone number. Would you be willing to come in later and talk to them? >> I just got to go get my flat lodge. >> And how long you guys up for for your vacation? >> We leave tomorrow. >> Tomorrow? >> Yeah, we came up here today. We actually left this morning. We were going out Torch Lake tomorrow morning. >> Okay. >> We already rented a pontoon and everything. >> Especially you and the other gentleman, detectives are probably going to want to talk to you. But I got your information, so if you guys got to take off you got to take off. >> Yeah, you can call me. I'll answer my phone. >> Appreciate it. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. >> You might want to wash your hand. I forgot about that. >> We're good. >> All right. >> And they come out it's like somebody opened our gates on a horse bridge. >> Yeah. >> And then they beat the hell out of them with them shopping carts. >> You need to leave. Tell her in that red Jeep that she can back out carefully and come through here. Okay, got you. Then she needs to stay. I just need a bag because the weapon is back here covered in blood. Nobody's coming to Walmart for the next couple hours, so. >> [laughter] >> Hey, at least you didn't run out with the cart they had all your stuff in. >> I almost did. >> Don't take my word for it, but I think it might have been justified today. Yeah, anywhere you see blood tape it off. >> Has everyone over here been instructed to please not leave? I know it's hot out. All right, we're going to get to all of you as soon as we can. >> There's a troop going to do a secondary like a triple search back here. I didn't see anybody laying down anything like that. >> All patients should be out, yes. You guys coming to treat his wounds? >> What's wrong with him? >> He's got some slices on his hands. I'm going to make this very clear. When you step down on here you are going to turn around and face away from me because they're going to look at your hands because you are bleeding all over that seat. I saw blood, so. >> All right. >> No, no, no, no. >> I want to make sure he's >> Looking at your hands, yes. That's That's his job. >> I say leave it. You want to photograph it, it's something a band-aid will handle. >> Does anything else hurt you? >> No, I'm trying to thirst. >> Would you like a band-aid for your hand? >> No. >> Okay, you can get back in the car. >> His choice. >> Can I get my shoe? >> I don't know where your shoe is. >> there. >> There is no other shoe here. No, it's probably in the crime scene from the people that you just stabbed. Are you okay to drive? I know you just witnessed a traumatic event. >> I didn't see it. >> Okay. >> I just found my I couldn't find my son and I saw and I got a little scared and somebody was sitting there holding him so he didn't bleed all over. >> Okay. So, he's probably on his way up to the hospital already. Are you going to head up to the hospital? >> That's where I'm going. >> Okay. Please take your time and drive safe. Karen, okay Karen. I'm Bryce. My hands are clean. Okay. Who's It's very warm. They're black gloves. All right. You have a good day, okay? >> Okay. Can you kind of just give me a quick breakdown of what you saw happen? >> I see him with his gunny sack chasing people down and stabbing people as he's coming through. >> I grabbed my cart and we pursued him in the parking lot. I picked up the cart, smashed it on the ground. >> That old lady we were able to stop him. >> And then um he got up and a gentleman came with his pistol. We got him down on the ground there and uh got the knife away from >> Appreciate what you did, man. >> We got a >> Are you okay? Do you need anything? >> I'm a little shaky. I'm all right. >> Well, take take your time. >> Thank you. >> You saved a lot of people today. >> I hope so. >> Man, I feel bad for the ones that got >> I understand. >> You good? >> Oh, I'm good. >> Yeah. Yeah, I'm just chilling. >> This all came out of his pockets? >> This was all in his pockets. This a bystander picked up and brought up to us. >> I'm just going to take pictures of this >> Yep. Yep. >> with my phone and then we're just going to collect it and put it in the bag. >> Okay. >> And from what we know right now, it sounds like he just walked inside and started stabbing people. >> He said the drill instructor pulled him, too. >> And we have seven victims right now is what we think. >> They're all in there, Cam. I don't know. >> People who are uninvolved, are we good kicking them loose? >> I think so. >> To move them out of the parking lot. >> I would say yes. >> Is that the knife? >> That's the knife. >> Knife up in the air and >> for effect. >> Throwing everything. >> Well done, we're going to crack a cold one. >> Uh he's a Vietnam veteran. He rides around the store until like 7:00 every >> Okay. >> and I'm just trying to figure out if he got out. >> assume he did. There shouldn't be anybody in the store at all right now. The whole store is locked down. But I would just stick away from like this area cuz all this is a big crime scene right now, okay? I'll keep an eye out for him, okay? He's in Leech's car. >> Is he a local? >> Uh no, no, he's from downstate somewhere. He says his drill instructor told him to do it. >> Officers bring the suspect, Bradford James Gyles, to the station for further questioning. They'll soon discover the motive is one they will never predict. >> to grab a change of pants while I'm here for you, buddy. >> Uh can you slide out, sir? >> Can you get me a drink? >> All right. >> Is there a water fountain? >> Uh I can work on getting you a drink. Uh let's have a seat in here real fast. >> Those were all criminals in the Walmart. Part of the figuring or a lot of it is murdering I really mostly believe in them actually doing that. My earthly family has reborn physically in 1983. >> Okay. What What What is your name, sir? >> Uh it's Jesus Christ. >> Your name is Jesus Christ? >> Yeah, now it's Brad. >> Brad Gyles? >> After I've been reborn, I got a new name. These people are Nut Talk, the world's most evil men. They're They're those Obama's psychiatrist, and that's who I'm trying to stop. That's why I was up there doing that, stabbing I don't know if they remember who I was. If you do a real questioning, a real interrogation, you'll find out what's going on. I was in World War II. I think I was an American soldier. You can read it all about it. >> Bradford isn't bluffing about being able to read about his alleged experiences, as he has two books that Amazon still allows to be purchased. Both detail his belief in being reborn as Jesus Christ. >> People might be cannibals, too. Just I'm saying. Some kind of like cult or something with Walmart and the food and grocery store and whatever. Like I think they're like poisoning in it. Jesus appeared when I was in Florida. On the way back, I saw a spaceship. I was on the Free Masons on the report. And I don't know if my phone's bugged by Google or whatever. They're making a killing on cold storage and second trafficking drugs. I'll talk about how the side effects of the medication have killed so many people. >> Wow. >> When I told the judge about that once, he said, "Well, that video is not really They're not really true or whatever." But of course it is. The unsoundness of my mind like being loud. >> Yeah, I'm going to wash my hands real quick. >> Yeah, for sure. >> Most >> of Bradford's statements were not prompted by officers. The intentional interrogation appears to begin only at this moment. >> That loosen up for you, boss? >> Yeah. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand those rights? >> Uh, yeah. >> I don't know anything about you. Do you go to school in Harbor Springs or do you stay out there? >> Yeah. >> Did you go all the way through high school there or did you not? >> No, I I couldn't because I was smoking cigarettes. It started when I was five. >> Bradford tells officers a brief history of his drug use from childhood through adulthood. It appears to be a consistent issue throughout his life. >> They waste with something they tell me and it got me so high, like like that high, but it got made me feel like I was possessed. And that time I was going to church a lot. >> Bradford then shares he was affected after a friend of his drowned in a river. >> Cuz Ken drowned in a river, I I was really I really wanted to know if the spiritual realm was real. Everyone sat down in church and prayed for whatever was on our hearts. I felt what I thought was Jesus Christ transparent up in front of the church, uh, intently listening to me. Broke down crying, really hard in church. I don't know if anyone else did what was going on like that. >> Are you still smoking any marijuana now? >> Yeah. I think it's poison. I had a dream that I was physically re- reborn after I was shot to death at the Petoskey College. It would be like 1982 or something. The community like acting crazy, like psychopathic and stuff, like not everyone, but I'm saying like >> So, like let's focus on today, I guess. Walk me through your day because obviously some criminals or something obviously caught your eye. >> Yeah, I tried going grocery shopping, but like I I've been noticing like when I pick something up out of out of the shopping aisle, but they said that they were the ones that packaged it and did something to it. >> Like the workers are telling you this? So, like did somebody say something to you today? >> Yeah, I was hearing, uh, spiritual realm. When I was 14 years old or something, uh, I came in my house. I was high, yeah, but I wasn't affected by it. I I said, "Hey, what's up, Dad?" And, uh, he stood up and turned around sweating with one arm behind his back and I passed out right then and there. I was I was blacked out and I woke up and then he called my friends to say that yeah, accused them of getting me higher or whatever and saying I passed out I think from that and I didn't it wasn't the weed. >> Okay. >> What was it? >> When I said you still sweating and so on and behind his back I figured it was the voice that worked with like that say the electronic robotic wires in my body. When those are loosened up I mean and they're even taken out that you can actually do things. You can like levitate a sand or turn transparent mostly. I can't say for 100% sure but I can say 99% at least. >> Okay, but >> Just not to be crazy or anything saying. >> What I want to talk about though is is Walmart today. Today it was about this >> band Belphegor, okay? >> Belphegor? I've never heard of >> it's like a satanic evil band or whatever. >> Do you recall what happened at Walmart today? >> Yeah. >> Okay, what happened? >> Um, I I you know, um, hearing from like my drill sergeant to do this. You know, it's really sad what happened. They were even telling me if I don't do this then these people will keep walking around and like killing they're they're they're like cannibals. >> So the people are cannibals? And is your drill sergeant a >> Well, he wouldn't be my drill sergeant unless back from like the previous era and before I was reborn but like >> Okay. >> Yeah, I'm Jesus Christ. >> Do you recall what you did to other people at Walmart? >> Yeah. >> What did you do? >> I took them out. >> Okay, and what does that mean? Tell me more. >> I annihilated. >> Okay, what did you use? >> A knife. >> Okay, and how many people did you take out today? >> I don't know. I lost count. 12. >> Okay. >> 15. >> Okay. >> Just terminate them. >> Okay, and what >> my family, you know. >> But I mean what did what did you do with the knife to them? >> Stabbed them. Fresh. Then I took her out and then I went to the other one that they said was uh had like a one of the smartphones that had that had some kind of that x-ray or something. I said when Floyd I was the last guy, one of the last or something at the at the exit. >> Who did you Did you stab him at? >> I don't know. I think I know his name but um he's an older guy you know old so he was in the he he could have been one of those bottomists back in the '60s and '70s. >> you recall from today? >> Those old ladies and old guys are racist and they followed old you know ways or whatever. >> I guess were you focusing on anyone else specifically? >> Uh I was avoiding the Chinese. They have always been like humble and meek in my eyes. >> Did they say anything to you or did they physically harm you before you stabbed them? >> Most of them all been going after my heavenly family. They look just like me. >> What were you intending to do? >> Kill them. >> Okay. No, I'm asking you. Okay, you're not pushing people down. I mean >> No, I did tell you that I was stabbing these people. Yeah. >> What caused you to stop stabbing people today? >> Uh I got arrested. >> Did the spirits say anything else? >> The one stopped me like a little girl. >> What was she saying? >> She like must learn how to run her mouth all damn day cuz she talks about all these things that happened in the past lives and stuff. There's a lot of them, okay, and they're all like red and red. I had this dream. This was the disco era. Two people were walking me out onto the floor with a hamster stuck up my ass and then they had me like try to dance with it. >> Okay. >> I went to do that and I fell on the floor and but you know I heard that that happened in in the '80s or whatever. People put hamsters up their asses and went disco dancing. They have a huge reports of a lot of dreams that might be realities. They're realistic. >> After asking if his biological parents are alive, Bradford appears to imply that his step parents are his biological parents but that he doesn't consider them related because he was reborn from a previous life. >> But your mom is still alive? Your step mom is still alive? >> Uh yeah. >> Did you ever have any incidents like today where the spiritual realm told you to hurt anybody else? >> Yeah, I think so. >> Think of the last time that that the spiritual realm or your the drill sergeant or somebody told you to harm somebody like and what you did. >> I don't remember. The people the employees and they were all psychopathic I could tell. They were like kill my family. I think employees were in cahoots with the people that were shopping there. It was a >> So you're saying that they were killing your spiritual family? >> Yeah, yeah. >> I guess do you drink any alcohol? >> Yeah, I haven't drank in 10 years. I thought I was dying. I had I thought I was having complications to a surgery that I had. I didn't want to die. And previously I signed a funeral contract to be either buried or cremated when I died. I thought like I should protest by digging a grave like on a surface in it to show that tomb should be above ground instead of below it like in Jerusalem. And I talked to my stepdad on the phone before I did it. He said, "Don't do it. Don't go dig up a grave." But it sounded over the phone like under his breath he was telling me to to do it. So I did. I just surfaced a grave an unmarked grave. I was going to keep on surfacing all of them. But I didn't think talking to anyone would change their mind about that custom. I just got out of a car castration from digging up that grave. It was a 10-year felony. >> Has the court ever made you take medication for anything? >> Yeah, psychotropic poisons. I was hearing them so bad I was I couldn't sleep. I was running back and forth in my cell. I was losing breath. Things just started getting darker in my life because of those psychotropics and everything. >> So we need to take some of your blood to make sure that there is no absolute drugs or you haven't been drugged or anything like that. Okay? Does that make sense? I can tell you this. I appreciate you telling us what's going on today. >> Yeah. >> Okay? Do you have any questions for me or Reese? >> Uh I don't know if I have any questions. >> You've been cordial with us. I appreciate that and all I ask is when you get to the jail you're cordial with them as well. Also, it sounds like you're hungry, right? We you get you some food. >> Yeah. Okay? All right, just hang out right here. >> Okay. Yep. We still got cigs? >> Bradford's criminal history reveals he did in fact desecrate a gravesite in 2016, reportedly believing his father had been buried alive. He was charged with felony disinterment and mutilation of a dead body and malicious destruction of a tomb. In 2017, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry before transferring to Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. In 2019, he was put on supervised release in adult foster care and in 2023, a judge ordered another year of treatment finding Bradford posed a substantial risk of harm to himself or others. By June 2024, Bradford's continued treatment depended on annual renewal petitions, a safeguard meant to prevent people from being held in an institution indefinitely without court review. In October 2024, no new petition was filed ending Bradford's court-ordered treatment. Just months later, Bradford was reportedly homeless in Petoskey, where he refused shelter and called psychiatric medication poison. On July 18th, 2025, police responded after Bradford reportedly cussed out an employee and pulled a knife while leaving a local market. Officers determined he hadn't actually threatened anyone with the knife. He was formally trespassed from the property, but not arrested. On July 24th, police contacted Bradford for reported loitering. He reportedly remained calm and officers again found no legal grounds to detain him. On July 25th, a probate judge authorized Bradford's detention for evaluation after finding he posed a substantial risk. Deputies searched for him, but were unable to locate him due to his homeless status. Less than 24 hours later, Bradford stabbed 11 people inside a Walmart. All 11 victims survived. He faced one count of felony terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder. More than a year later, Bradford was again found not guilty by reason of insanity. He is now held at Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry, where the process begins again. Bradford could remain under court-ordered treatment indefinitely, but continued confinement requires periodic review and renewed petitions. Without renewal, the existing treatment order expires and Bradford will lose supervision exactly as he had before.
