It was January 23rd, 2025 in Lee County, Florida, when a suspect behind the wheel of a Dodge pickup thought he could outrun Florida Highway Patrol. But what he didn't know was that he chose the wrong troopers to play with and they were about to prove it. Heat. Heat. At first, it looked like the chase would be over before it even began. But the suspect managed to break free. But troopers were hot on his tail. Let me see your hand. Let me see your hand. John, where are you at? John. John, show me your hand. Put your hands up. Walk over the guard rail. Walk toward me. After a brief struggle to get him out of the truck, the suspect finally complied and was taken into custody without further incident. While details are still limited, one thing's for sure, he won't be getting out anytime soon. It began in the quiet Iiko area of Grant County. Just another routine traffic stop. But when 31-year-old Carlos Smith, who is also National Fugitive, hit the gas, it turned into a multi- agency pursuit stretching across counties. Smith wanted in multiple states led troopers on a high-speed chase pushing over 90 mph. [Music] Tra [Music] passing on the shoulder. Got some semis up here. Pass that turn right now. [Music] Standby on coming Everything. [Music] As the chase progressed, it was clear this wasn't just about speeding. The suspect, desperate to avoid capture, was creating chaos by the second. What made it even more insane, he'd already lost a tire early on, but somehow kept driving like a maniac, completely unpredictable and dangerously out of control. Back home business route [Music] southbound 167 business. Come on. [Music] 57 southbound radio southbound 167 SL [Music] successful. Swags are successful. [Music] Yeah. [Music] Back. [Applause] The chaos finally ended on Oklahoma Street in Sheridan. With spike strips and coordinated maneuvers, officers boxed him in and brought the pursuit to a close. But it came at a cost. Six vehicles were damaged, including three from Sheridan PD and a city unit. Carlos Smith, already wanted in multiple states, now faces a brand new stack of charges courtesy of the Arkansas State Police. But after the stunt he pulled, he's not going anywhere for a long time. The Can-Am Spider may look futuristic, but when you're riding one without tags, insurance, or a license, you're not going far, especially not in Georgia. On August 21st, 2022, Trooper Matthews spotted a Can-Am spider on I 85 with no license plate. As he initiated a stop, the driver pulled over, but then suddenly hit the throttle and rejoined traffic, triggering a pursuit. Aviation, you're able to get overhead. [Music] Uh, standby. Taking 400. Taking 400 north. 400 northbound. Coming past the MCCD unit on the shoulder. Left shoulder. Left shoulder pass. Got another trooper behind me. Whoever behind me, go ahead and call them. [Music] my lane. As the chase progressed, the suspect didn't look worried. If anything, it looked like he was enjoying the ride, swerving across lanes, blasting down the highway like he was in a game of GTA. But here's the real question. How do you even stop a Can-Am spider? It's not a car. It's not a bike. And this was uncharted territory for troopers. Swan going to wear a green. [Music] Going left. Going left. He's on the wrong side of the road. Wrong side of the road. I'm on the correct side. [Music] Back northbound. Back northbound. Back northbound on 400. At this point, the chase had been out of control for a while, and it was clear the suspect needed to be stopped before someone got hurt. A pit wasn't an option. Too risky with a three- wheeled vehicle like that. So troopers went with the next best move, a coordinated boxin maneuver. Exiting on the Linux. Exiting on the Linux. Going to go right on Linux. Right on Linux. 1050 over the curve. 1050 over the curb. Still going. Still going. Crossing Linux. Back 400 northbound. [Music] Get on the ground on your face. Get on your face. With the box incomplete, the trooper drew his firearm and ordered the rider to the ground. To everyone's relief, Raheem Penn complied without a fight. Turns out the Can-Am wasn't just unregistered. It wasn't registered in any state. no insurance, no license, and Penn's driving privileges had already been suspended out of Ohio. He claimed he rented the vehicle from someone he couldn't name. The bike was impounded, and the suspect was taken straight to Atlanta City Jail, where the joy ride finally came to an end. On July 20th, 2024, Deputy Ferguson was patrolling near Highway 42 and Biscane Boulevard in Rex, Georgia, when a white 2023 BMW 530e caught his attention. The vehicle was connected to a recent armed robbery nearby and what started as a routine contact quickly spiraled into a complete chaos. What's going on? Why we loing in the parking lot? We're not. We just got in the car and he was trying to put it. You couldn't figure out how to put it back. I couldn't figure out how to get this thing in out of drive. I mean, out of park right here, man, cuz it Where y'all headed to? We're headed home, man. We just had to get some gas. All right. You got driver's license? I ain't got a moment, though, man. Why not? Like, oh [ __ ] Show me code nine and copy your 54 vehicle. What's your name, man? Jennifer Grafton. Smoking. Jennifer Grafton. Jennifer Grafton. How do you know him? I know my friend. He's your friend. Hey, Mr. Johnson, give me Hey, do me a favor. I'll lock the door for him. All right. All right. Go ahead and step out, too. Black Op 6. He's taking off. Johnson slammed the gas, accelerating rapidly out of the gas station parking lot, and failing to yield before merging northbound onto Highway 42. The trooper quickly returned to his patrol vehicle, activated emergency lights and sirens, and the chase was on. Feel free. Give me the radio, Brown. Notify Henry County. Coming to the Henry County line. I'm catching up to him to do it now. The trooper attempted to set up for a pit twice, but the suspect avoided both attempts. Speeds were dangerously high, but luckily traffic was light because with reckless driving like that, someone could have easily been seriously hurt. Heat. Heat. wheel. Just enter county. Notify Harry. At the intersection, the trooper finally sent the suspect careening straight into a ditch. The driver didn't stick around. He bailed out and took off running into the woods. Got my flashlight. Go, go, go, go. I got my gun out. I'm going to shoot you. I ain't have no license. Shut the [ __ ] up. I ain't have no license, man. You better stay down before you get it again. You got You got You got to be in my head and everything, man. I don't give a man. Brian Johnson, aka Brian Blair, was running from much more than just a suspended license. Inside his car was a virtual pharmacy on wheels. loaded firearms, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, prescription pills, syringes, and drug paraphernalia. After fleeing into the woods and being tased into submission, deputies uncovered his true identity. A wanted man with a violent past and probation violations, he now faces serious charges. And thanks to the quick actions of law enforcement, a potential disaster was stopped before it could spiral out of control. On June 12th, 2023, Pierce County Sheriff's deputies were alerted after a 911 call reported a carjacking at gunpoint. The suspect forced the driver out and took off. But what he didn't know was that an Air Tag was still inside the vehicle. Deputies locked onto the signal and it wasn't long before the chase was on. Making contact with powerful. [Music] We're going westbound on 320 south. down [Applause] everybody around him while he's wearing red. He had a hat, maybe a white underneath. From the very start, deputies knew this wasn't going to be easy. Despite multiple patrol cars in pursuit, the suspect showed zero intention of stopping. And it quickly became clear he was willing to do whatever it took to get away. Go. 60 seconds. for [Music] we have now street First grade [Applause] traffic pedestrian. After weaving through tight, curvy roads, the suspect merged onto the highway, bringing his reckless driving to a much busier stage. He kept pushing hard, but now surrounded by traffic, the real danger of this pursuit was just beginning. Good morning. Got a lot of tires flying in our direction. He lost a tire. Watch it. He's on rim. Don't know what that was. Oh. Even after losing a tire, the suspect kept swerving across lanes so wildly even the deputy was surprised. With traffic all around, they couldn't make a move just yet. But minutes later, a stretch of open road appeared. And that was all they needed. Still southbound. Medium traffic. Speed is 62. Went for a pit. Car wrecked out. Get blocked in. [Music] Watch your [Applause] suspect bailed out on foot, but he was quickly taken down by deputies. But the chase wasn't over yet. Inside the stolen car was a female passenger. Left behind as flames began to engulf the vehicle. As the car fire spread to dry grass and two patrol units, deputies and a Tacoma police officer sprang into action. They pulled the screaming woman from the burning wreck just in time. Both she and the suspect were taken to a local hospital. He with crash injuries, she with smoke inhalation. The suspect with a long criminal record now faces multiple charges including first-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm attempting to elude and identity theft. His bail was set at $250,000. And while the car was lost, the woman who owned it is safe. And now raising funds to get back on the road. Rolling an SUV at highway speed isn't something you walk away from easily. But for one Ohio driver, that was just the beginning of her problems. It was May 29th, 2025 when a troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol clocked a GMC envoy doing 82 and a 65. But when they tried to pull her over, the driver, later identified as Jennifer Wilson, refused to stop. [Music] King Frank 237 ohway oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh away oh I think I can take that the radio. White female driver, black hair, 40s. A trooper pulled up alongside her SUV, giving her one last chance, telling her it'd be better to pull over. But she wouldn't listen. And just minutes later, that decision turned into the worst one of her life. We're coming up to the rest area. I'll get in front again. See if you can push over towards the uh even get a good video on the driver. I believe so. Off to the right side of the road right start unit. In a panic to regain control. Wilson overcorrected and the SUV rolled several times before slamming into the median. As first responders rushed in, a passing nurse stopped to help. Miraculously, Wilson only suffered minor injuries, but after a quick trip to the hospital, she was booked into jail. She now faces multiple charges, including OVI, failure to comply, and losing control of her vehicle. And to make matters worse, she's also linked to a hit and run reported earlier that day in Montgomery County. You don't always need fancy tech to track down a stolen truck. Sometimes the best tracker is the owner who refuses to give up. On June 4th, 2025, dispatch received a call from a man who spotted his stolen Dodge Ram heading south on Highway 65 through Damascus. Moments later, troopers caught up to the truck and tried to pull it over, but the driver had no plans to stop. 24 harps. Take the security up. We're 1037 with it. [Music] out of five. TBI, TVI, TVI, Show me your hands. Show me your hands. Show me. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, troopers moved in only to discover the driver wasn't who most expected. What looked like a woman behind the wheel turned out to be a man in a dress and the one responsible for stealing the truck. What the was that? I don't know. Yeah, baby. That's my truck. That's my truck. I didn't I didn't up too bad, man. They told me to do it. Yeah. I got my food. Shut up. The vehicle was safely returned to its rightful owner. As for Jeremiah Webb, he was booked into Faulner County on a list of charges, including theft by receiving, fleeing, speeding, and driving without a license. Not the brightest way to end a rainy day in Arkansas. On April 28th, 2022, deputies spotted a driver making questionable moves and decided to pull him over. But what happened next? That's when things in Effingham County took a dangerous turn. The driver didn't just ignore commands. He hit the gas and what followed left deputies stunned. 50 mph. About to drive it. [Music] The suspect wasn't going fast, but his decisions were reckless. First, he blew through an active construction zone. Then, things got worse. He swerved around a school bus that was unloading children. They're trying to hit me. They're going to school bus right now. Got him stopped here in front of my door. Once the vehicle came to a stop, deputies searched it, and what they found sealed the deal. A glass pipe, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Morris refused a blood test and was booked on multiple charges, including felony fleeing, reckless driving, and possession of cocaine. When his case went to trial, the jury didn't hesitate. On February 13th, 2023, Morris was found guilty on all counts except DUI and sentenced to 10 years in Georgia state prison. No probation, and no parole.
