That's just a sneak peek of what's coming up. No one likes a shoplifter. They slip items into their bags thinking they can outsmart the system and walk away with what others worked hard to pay for. But when these thieves push their luck and get caught in the act, there's nothing more satisfying than watching them get exposed as some of the dumbest shoplifters ever. On May 24th, 2025, officers responded to a call at Walmart regarding a couple suspected of shoplifting. The man is using an electric scooter. Police ask for IDs and begin searching their bags. Yep. Can you pull out what you have in your Hold on a minute. Do you have anything in your pockets? Or do you want me to have somebody come search you? So, if you have anything else in your pocket Yeah. Officers pull out several items and sort them into bags, trying to determine which ones belong to the couple and which were stolen from Walmart. Two matching bags. They're the So, you know, she comes in with the blankets. I keep verifying the bags. That's the only thing. Okay. So. And then, the next day there's the cereal and one of these is the one that So, is Is this one mine? I'm just going to ask. I've got to pull all this stuff out and then maybe shove it right back into it. I guess I can just throw it Really? We can just throw it in that one. They're going to take all this. They'll drop the receipt. Doesn't Hopefully, you can see what it is what's going in there. Well, this is probably going in now. Put it in there. I don't know. This looks like it'd be filming it. The couple admits they are homeless and were taking items to pawn or sell to get money for shelter or parties. It's likely that she took these from here, but they said they can't confirm that. They were like friends and then Maybe not. This was in there, so maybe they brought it over. Yeah, I think this is stolen different thing. Can I take this? Yeah. Yep, I think so. So, what's up with today, guys? We're homeless, bro. You're homeless? You got a nationwide Walmart ban? Trying to get some stuff to eat and like take it to my girlfriend's house or either like work for video games so that we can get a party, get a sober state. Police confirm the couple has been caught shoplifting before, including at Walmart. The man claims he was told he could shop at this location despite a nationwide Walmart ban. Just trying to gather items and then pawn it off. Yeah, cuz we're homeless, man. Okay. Have you guys been caught doing this before? Yes. At Walmart and other locations? When was the last time that you guys have done this? Two Two years ago. Two years ago? I think so. I got a number right here. Yeah. Do you have a nationwide ban on Walmart? Um I was told I could come here cuz they hadn't personally banned us. I had talked to security. And they said that their Walmarts were separate. Yeah, their Walmarts. Okay. I'll have to double check on that, but I was just advised today you have a nationwide ban on Walmart. Okay. Who bought the groceries? Just her? You have one that has to be served, which just got served to you. Oh. Cuz I if I had known that, I wouldn't have even came here. But I was told This Walmart was different and it had banned me. You I I can't I don't know the guy's name. He's real tall. He works security here. And he was wearing some of the black though? Yeah, he he didn't have the white guy though. With him all the time. They say they took the bus to Walmart and brought their own black bags. The officers describe how the couple concealed items under a blanket on the scooter. How did you guys get here today? On the bus. The bus? Okay. And then did you guys bring those black bags that were with you guys? >> Yes, sir. Those black bags aren't mine. I might have my ID in there. I don't know what's in my wallet or not. Okay. I might lost it. So you came in here and getting the chair, put the bags under you and then put the blanket over you and then you guys started concealing items. Yeah. Store staff calculate the total value of stolen merchandise, about $585, exceeding the $300 felony threshold. Okay. They're going to they're going to total up how much there is and then uh we'll go from there, okay? It's $585. That's okay, I'm sorry. How much is it? It's $585. $585. Okay. Love that. All right, you guys. So, can I have you set up real quick? Take your hat off, please, and just hold it. All right, and to your right. I need you guys to stand up. Just get one more here. >> you guys, step to the right for me. Subtotal is 585. So, the rest was 300. All right, so I'll throw What are we finding out? All right. Officers discuss whether the suspects will receive a notice to appear in court or be taken to jail overnight. Because of the holiday weekend, they may have to stay in custody until the next morning. Right now, um, from our supervisor on whether what we're going to do. All right. I mean, I can I want to see where your problem was. So, right now what we're finding out is if one can we issue notices to appear where basically you just go to the police department and um, get photographs, fingerprints there, and release you with the court date, or is it something you have to go to to jail and then you would stay in until you saw a judge. I'd say fortunate for you guys if you do go to jail, Saturday. I can't go to jail on Saturday. >> there's court there's holiday court tomorrow because of the holiday on Monday. So, at best you'd sit there Till when? or worst case, sit there till tomorrow tomorrow morning. So. All right, that's for now. Which If you're not there, how are we making any money? Yeah. All right, you want to just uh You got my ID in your back pocket. Okay, you want to just put your hands behind your back for I got this in my back pocket. Nope, but to get it for you. I just put your hands behind your back. The man comforts his partner as they're handcuffed, urging her not to give up. Officers encourage them to see this as a wake-up call and make better choices. Oh my god. Babe, babe, don't give up, babe. Just I mean, we got caught, okay? Get out of this situation. Don't do this anymore. Don't give up on me, babe. Please don't give up on life now, okay? Babe, don't give up. You guys will get phone calls once you get there. I can't call I'm just going to text her real quick. >> No, I said once you get there, you'll get phone calls on their their pay they have a phone there. >> there. I don't believe you. You don't have to They're allowed They provide you with a phone. So, as long as you know the numbers or if you have them in your phone, they'll let you they'll let you get phone numbers out of your phone, also. So, I would just say that here in a second, we'll let you send that send that text. But, I'd encourage you to turn your phone off. That way it doesn't die while you're in there. But, let this be the bottom, right? I don't know. You got to hit the bottom before you go back up, right? So, let this be the bottom and then everything You just got to make better decisions, right? And I get I say that from I I see it in your eyes, brother. It's easier said than done. I get that, but Babe, babe. Listen, okay? You and we going to get out of jail, babe. Maybe I won't. But, I'm pretty sure we going to get out, babe. It's not the end of the world, okay? It's not. We got to get our lives together, man. You see what's up, babe? I got to get my [ __ ] together, man. Okay, I'll redo everything. I mean, look. I'm going to say it like you know what I'm saying? On the plus side, there's some running water in that [ __ ] I'm going to take a shower. It was a sunny afternoon on November 19th, 2022, when Columbus PD found themselves heading into what would turn out to be a very unusual day. So, what exactly went down? >> Hold on. Yeah, I got someone trying to break in my house. Uh this lady, she's throwing stuff. She used to poop on my porch. And I got my gun. I don't know her. She's throwing stuff and it's a uh a white female, black leggings. This right here is the front porch where the incident allegedly went down. Now, it's not everyday that officers get dispatched to handle a report of someone pooping on another person's doorstep. I thought they didn't look like they defecated on there to me, unless they used a toilet, maybe. Toilet. What are you talking about? So, this this lady did that. I work for COTA. I just got kicked off the bus. I'm in my car. She started kicking my car. Is it your car? No, my car is right there. She said, "Get out. I'mma beat your I got out. She wanted to fight. So, I'm confused. Are you work for COTA? She was in your car with you? >> No, she was walking down the street and seen me. She was out here yelling and screaming. At this point, the officers didn't seem entirely sure whether they were dealing with a burglary attempt or just an unfortunate case of someone who couldn't hold it any longer. But, judging from the woman's shouting and the choice of words she used, >> As you can see her right there, pulled her pants down pissing on my porch. Stop moving. What? Put that down. Put it down. What? This is my house. >> Okay. She's open. I didn't My husband is not at home. >> Okay. Well, we have to figure out what's going on. He's making some pretty serious accusations. Okay. >> Honestly, when I first heard those racial slurs, I expected to see someone who looked like a toothless, strung-out homeless addict. To my surprise, she looked completely ordinary at first glance. Why do you lock my door? Because I have my husband's assets in there? Yes, they do. Why did you lock my door? Okay, well I've been robbed. You know what? I'm suing you. The head of loss prevention is on I don't care. You didn't know everything that killed over here? Over the quarter claim? Over sovereign immunity? That's good luck. Good luck. What do you mean? As officers escorted her to the police car, she didn't stop shouting profanity after profanity the whole way. By now, it's pretty clear the vile language, the aggression, and even the act of defecating on a neighbor's porch all point to one thing. Hey, it's documented in court. Okay. You know what else happens when you lie about something like that? >> Shut up. I will write you and your attorneys. Why are you so angry? >> Seriously, [ __ ] Do you have anything on you to poke me, stick me? I don't do drugs. I have a law degree. Why are you being so rude? I talked about this [ __ ] right here. Hatfield 3135. Yes. Knock it off. >> You're not doing that. Spread your feet out. Are you really trying to hurt me? >> Spread your feet out. Just imagine if lawyers behaved like this in a courtroom. I'd watch that every single day. It would be the wildest show on Earth. >> I don't pee on myself. Okay. That's cool. That's what they pay me for. I don't mind. Oh, this stuff comes hurt. Well, I'm not pulling it against the free world. >> If you would relax and calm down we put I'm not even mad this is an attempt to collect a debt. Okay. Okay. We're in the court of claims. Flat out. Get out of here. Go to Ohio State. It's on the 14th floor of the Supreme Court. Once again, the sheer chaos of the suspect's behavior is completely contrasted by the calmness of the officers. Not one of them loses their composure. Not a single voice is raised. They handle the entire situation with steady professionalism. Cracker, cracker, cracker what? What the Stop acting like you don't know what the court of claims is. What the prince is. Pocahontas. Let me get the wagon Go up with I didn't mean to put my hand in your face. I'm Pocahontas. At what point did she obstruct and what point did she resist? So they told her to stop. She came up towards the address and was yelling at him saying the racial slurs threatening him.
