I might have. >> All right. All right. Hold on. >> I don't want to get charged. Bring it into your station. >> Okay. So, it's supposed to have that plate on. >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, then if that's the case, >> me in my boobs. He's touching me in my He snatched me in my arm. He went between my legs and all that. >> Some people think they're slick enough to bend the rules inside a store. A few are even dumb enough to believe they can steal and walk away without consequences. But when reality catches up, the only trip they're getting is straight to the back of a police car. Or is it? Well, let's find out. >> Oh god. >> 66. >> On March 16th, 2025, police approached a woman suspected of shoplifting at Walmart, detained her, and escorted her to the loss prevention office for questioning. >> Our sergeant told us to come. He's on the other side. >> Hi, man. How are you? You mind walking up here with us real quick? >> Garden on right now. You are just being detained. Okay. Oh, God. 66 forward 26. We're going to walk up to the loss prevention office. Okay. >> Okay. >> Sorry. I keep feeling like I walked you guys. >> No, you're good. You're good. Why is everybody reading for blood? >> I don't know. Probably cuz there was no intal person the other day. >> All right. Go ahead and take a seat for us. >> Which bathroom you want us to prosecute? >> All right. Do you have an ID on you? >> I'm going to take everything out of your pockets. Okay. >> Stand up for me. Go ahead. And >> Officers search her belongings, ask about concealed items, and confirm she is in custody. Make sure you don't have any whatever's on there. Take the face pack off and all that fun stuff. >> I'm going to put this from you. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Hold on one second. Okay. >> Yeah. She hadn't done a shop thing, so I was like >> we were going to go to the lady with no clothes on >> the other night. >> That'll be interesting. See what that is. >> Yeah. >> I wonder if they meant like >> no shirt physically, but she had a bra or something. >> You have what? My pockets down there. >> Somebody stole her shirt. >> Do you have anything in your bra? >> Okay, I'm going to grab it and pull it. Okay. >> Okay, >> I'll turn around. >> Go ahead and have a seat here for me. said she she is in custody. So >> the woman has read her Miranda rights and asked if she understands them. >> You can anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to a lawyer. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to to represent you before any questioning if you wish. Even if you don't want a lawyer now and agree to talk with us, you can at any time change your mind and ask for a lawyer or stop talking with us. >> Do you understand each of these rights as I have explained to you? >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Okay. >> Got any questions? I just have to get the list. Get this and I can get you a >> We gave it to him. Yep. >> Didn't you get her name? >> What's her name? >> H. >> What's your birthday? 30. >> What's a uh what's a phone number for you? >> So, do I give you this one or just give me a personal phone number? >> Okay. >> 3 4 >> Officers confirm she is already barred from Walmart and issue a criminal trespass charge in addition to shoplifting. They also discover she has a warrant in another county for a prior shoplifting incident. you uh we assume you are a barring mister. >> Yes. I think she's already >> you already barred from here. Mhm. >> Yeah. >> So, you're also going to get criminal trespass. Do you want to start the barring over from today though? >> Okay. >> And you got a warrant out of Clark County. >> I got a warrant? >> Mhm. >> How? >> For shoplifting. >> This today? >> No, I think today I took a warrant out of you for a previous shop. Yeah, you got a warrant for something. >> Judge sign. >> So if the judge sign it, that means like missing or something. >> No. So somebody probably >> saw. >> So if they if they've caught you on video and if they've caught you on video and they call officers out here to do a report and somebody's recognizes you, >> they can go sign warrants on you and then when we get out with you, that's when you're like, "Oh, you shoplifted on this day." that >> police explain how warrants are issued based on video evidence and signed by judges. They clarify her outstanding warrant details. >> This is some other time there's a warrant that was issued for your arrest. >> So, were you did you hear that return? >> Yeah. >> You already got warrants. >> Uh-huh. 10 four. We're clear. So, it was $22. Beth, am I reading that correct? >> $28.88. We don't do the tax. >> Gotcha. Okay. So, 28. I >> like your nails. >> It will tell yall though, right? Whenever Whenever I go Well, not y'all. Whenever I go, I have to ask somebody else like when I get to jail, >> like where the warrant was from. >> Uh, I'm sure on the warrant. It'll say it on the warrant. Where? Yeah. when they when they have they have to Mhm. >> Okay. >> You could ask them and they'll be able to tell you. We just don't know cuz they don't have the warrant in hand. They just tell us that you have it and that it's been confirmed. So, >> perfect. While you're out there, can you can you see if the criminal history is there yet? >> Okay. So, if I got So, I overheard y'all say um if this after three >> Yeah. Have you been convicted of shoplifting before? So, he was saying convicted as in going to court and >> and they're saying you were guilty. Yes. >> Um, >> the woman admits to being on probation for a prior shoplifting conviction. Officers warned that three or more convictions escalate shoplifting to a felony regardless of the item's value. >> I'm on probation for one right now. That's one. The the other one I haven't went to court and took in any plea deal for >> Okay. So, so it has to be convictions. So, that means like you said like you've pled to it. you said, "I'm guilty of this." Um, if there's three, you you become a felon. It becomes a felony. Even if it's 25 cents that you stole. >> Um, now if if you have 12 pending, you know what I mean? When you go to court, they could bump it to a fel, you know what I mean? Like cuz you're repeat offender at that point. >> Um, but that'll be up to the, you know, solicitor's office and stuff like that, not us. >> Okay. I'll >> Yeah. So, we'll check it. It's we have a criminal history. So that shows us everything that you've ever been arrested for, speeding ticket, anything. Um so we'll see if it if there's three or more convictions, this will be a felony today and it'll be a felony charge. >> So what's going to happen? Well, you're catching what? >> Two more charges. You're getting shoplifting again. >> She is informed she will face multiple new charges. Shoplifting, trespass, and the outstanding warrant, which will likely lead to a probation violation. >> Mhm. >> You're getting the trespass. You're going on your warrant. So, which is going to violate your probation >> so >> because you don't have a probation violation yet because of the fact that they just signed a warrant. So, once they see that you've been in jail, they're going to violate your probation. >> So, you'll probably end up sitting there too for that. If not, you might get out and then probably go right back >> for the probation violation. So, it just depends on if your probation offer catch catches it. >> What's the address here? What's the number? >> Um, what's it 4375? >> 4375. Lexington Road. Do you have any kids or anything? >> Okay. >> First one was December 12th. No, December 1st, 25 of TJ Maxx >> 24. >> Officers confirm she has three warrants total, two for shoplifting, one for trespass and multiple prior cases with at least two confirmed convictions. >> Yes. 24 >> December. >> Mhm. >> TJ Max December. minded my probation. I was going to say >> so you just signed him on January >> 6th. >> Okay. >> Or maybe >> Well, you didn't but she doesn't have she doesn't have a probation violation. So her doesn't matter where you are. >> Uh >> so they were signed on March 6th a week ago. >> So you have three warrants for shoplifting. >> Well, two for shoplifting, one for the trespass. >> So any convictions? >> I think it's step out there. She's in >> two previous convictions. >> So, actual convictions, >> but she's got like 12 pigments. >> She said nine times here >> at least. >> There you go, man. >> Thank you. >> All right, let's go and get her out to the jail. We'll sign out when we get to the jail, too. >> You ready? >> Police prepare paperwork, confirm the case will go through state court, and arrange her transport to jail. Yep. Did you hear that? >> Yeah, I did. But >> All right. You don't have anything on you, right? We already searched her. >> Let me just double check >> that note. Yep. All right. Go ahead. Take a seat for me. All right. This is what this is. Um, state court. >> Yep. You put state court. >> I fixed it. >> Perfect. You grab that. >> All right. >> Yeah. I'm going to say something. Right. >> So, it could be the warrant from that. You see what I mean? >> It might not be a new warrant. It's probably just a warrant due to that situation. You see what you did? >> No. Tell her. Tell her what you did. It kind of steal. >> Come on. >> And she's barred from Walmart for stealing already. >> Come on. >> All right. Um, >> the ABR. >> Thank you. I just draw a blank. Oh, I'm sorry. Here's her stuff. Oh, and instead of getting her to sign this, you'll just write in custody here. >> Or you could wait until she's done. You can let her sign it when she takes her >> custody on her. >> And then she said she was on probation. >> Did she not have a license? >> No. >> You don't have one at all? They finalize custody forms, collect her belongings, and note she has no driver's license. She was charged with shoplifting, criminal trespass, and arrested on outstanding shoplifting warrants. Even small thefts can lead to serious charges and probation violations if you're a repeat offender. Breaking trespass bans or ignoring warrants only makes the legal consequences much worse. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. never come back closer to this target in this area. Nothing like I don't know if they stay racist or what I don't want. I'm for real because y'all literally see me. I walk past y'all in y'all's face like I look [ __ ] >> On March 9th, 2025, Oakland police responded to a Target retail theft report. A woman concealed items in a tote bag and bypassed the checkout without paying. Loss prevention detained her until police arrived. The suspect, Tquisha, denied stealing, claiming she was only looking for her cousin, who supposedly had her phone, Apple Pay. She insisted she hadn't left the store and offered to pay. Said >> like, "You guys are in trouble. Like, you guys might just get stuck on the wrist or a ticket, but you guys are not going to be arrested, right?" That's why it was alerted to them. Other than that, they're just going to get your information and then that's it. And then you guys get to go. >> So, they were caught basically shoving like a bunch of like clothing in the bag that they took from a bus and then they try to walk out. >> All right. >> Why are you saying that? >> No, we didn't walk out. >> So, basically, one of the times I came here cuz you're both yelling. So, go let me let me you know her side of the story. >> Teha attempted to avoid blame by pointing to her cousin, insisting she wasn't stealing, but only looking for the person who had her phone and Apple Pay. Yet, her following remarks only deepened the officer's suspicions. >> So, basically, I was looking for my cousin. My cousin walked out from >> And is this your cousin? >> Yes. My phone is dead. She has the money up on her Apple Pay. So, I'm looking for her around the store. I see her downstairs right there by the escalator. I'm telling her to come pay for the stuff. I'm walking down. They say, "Come here." I come here. I'm applying with you guys. I said, they say, "Yeah, you can't just walk past the thing. It's a policy where you just can't walk past the thing." I tell them, "I was looking for my cousin. My phone is there. I'm trying to pay for my merchandise." They say, "Well, we have >> She argued that she didn't know passing the registers counted as theft." Repeating that she wasn't a booster and had no reason to steal since she owned a $3,000 Chanel purse. >> Do what they say. I tell them, "Can I pay for my stuff?" Cuz I'm not trying to leave out the door. I was looking for my cousin. My phone is clearly dead. She has my money up on her. >> So like all of that is going >> this my favorite target. Do you see? I don't steal. I $3,000 purse. I don't steal. This my favorite target. Like that's what I'm trying to explain to them. He just sat up here and listen to a whole story when y'all came in. It was just a whole completely different story. >> I was just trying to make it a quick story. >> No, that's not a story. You literally just listen everything and just what you wanted to say. But on my end, when I was walking, >> I have money to pay for all I lost my mailbox. So nobody trying to walk out. But I have the app on my phone to pay for everything. You get what I'm saying? But I ended up walking off because I realized that my key wasn't on my thing. I've been looking for it and I realized that it failed. So I was down there looking for my key, but I have to pay for the things because >> they're by the carts. >> Yeah. Downstairs. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So her phone is there. I have everything on my phone to pay for. I just asked them, but she was looking for me. She couldn't call me. She couldn't do anything. I walked out. >> They acted like I walked towards the doors. I didn't even walk towards the door. >> So, just so you I'm just going to explain to you how the law works and what crowd. >> So, anytime you walk walk past the last point of purchase, which is all upstairs, >> you come downstairs, you technically have committed a theft, right? >> She never walked downstairs. >> She turned me around. She walked downstairs. >> They turned me around basically saying, "You can't pass this because that's basically stealing." I said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I was just looking for my cousin. So, >> police reviewed surveillance footage which contradicted her story. Video showed her with her cousin trying to sneak merchandise out while checking surroundings. >> That's how we shot. So, I don't know if they taking it as otherwise or whatever the case may be. >> I'm still trying to pay for my stuff. I don't >> officers informed her she was under arrest for retail theft. She protested insisting she wasn't stealing and didn't understand the law. >> Queen. What's the problem? >> You're under arrest for retail. >> Why am I didn't take nothing? I didn't leave out the door. Like, I'm able to pay for my stuff. That's what I'm telling them. Like, I never >> last purchase. Okay. >> But sir, I didn't leave out the door. >> I was looking for my cousin. >> You went past the last point, >> but I didn't know that. I didn't like I didn't know that that was going to like you have to leave physically leave out the door as well. >> I didn't know that. No, I'm >> Did you get my >> You want like it's no bigger than I can talk to the manager because I literally didn't know like I didn't know that I was going to get in trouble for looking for my cousin. Like I wasn't trying to steal. I literally was >> She tried to have her purse and phone handed to her cousin instead of being processed with her belongings, showing concern about her property. So there's no way that she could just get my purse. >> Well, it's your property. So >> I know, but I want her to keep my property. I want her to keep my property and my phone. >> Stay with you. >> I don't want to process my things. >> Once you get out, you literally get your purse. >> I know, but I don't want to process my things. I want to give my things to my >> cuz I know like the situation going on. Can I just check if anything just get >> anything? What? >> I said can y'all just like cuz I understand that's the whole phone. >> No, I want you to check my phone. Cuz listen, can you just check it? see if there's anything in there and then just give it right back to me. That's it. Like >> Teesha claimed she had no criminal record, planned to hire a lawyer, and argued she wouldn't steal in front of so many security guards, even mentioning she had just attended church that morning. >> Trouble and I'm getting a lawyer. >> I'm getting a lawyer for sure. >> Okay. And for you guys, but the best lawyer >> you said initially cuz you say everything was fine, the same, the third, all you need. >> Yeah, I got it. Thank you. Get out. Get my ticket. >> And we have his ID. >> Huh? >> Take it out and get this over with. >> Can I get um >> Yes, please get >> Please. Get all that cash in your purse. >> Yes. That's what I'm saying. I have money to buy. I wasn't about to steal nothing. >> The laws passes past the last point. I don't know what the lie said, but I wasn't feeling nice. They It's a billion people around me looking at me. Why would I get like >> a million people up in here looking at me? I seen I seen every last security guard. I'm sorry. I seen every last security guard standing right here. Like I literally walk right past them in front of their face. I see it. They like, "Come here. Come here." And I'm not trying to apply. Like I see y'all in my face. I'm telling y'all, my cousin is right there. I'm trying to get her so she can pay for my stuff. She didn't know I was at the She didn't know I was about to walk to the register or none of that. She in a whole another different area from this crazy. We just went to church this morning. Like this is crazy. I would never like never come back. Evidence confirmed she stole 17 clothing items, a Stanley water bottle, and a lunch bag totaling 482 L49 dons. Items were concealed in her tote bag, making it a felony. Retail theft value exceeded $300. >> And I'm telling y'all what I'm trying to do. >> You don't hear the search. Doesn't look like she has anything on her back. Hello. >> Central 311 311. I'll be in route with a female 37379.9. >> She was processed, then released under a site and release order and must appear at the Bridge View Courthouse for further proceedings. Even with excuses, surveillance and law make the truth clear, passing the last point of purchase is theft. Trying to justify or downplay it only adds to the consequences. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. Do you want to talk about the truth or do you want to because the truth will set you free? I'm a reasonable person and when there's no victim, there's no crime. >> On April 11th, 2024, police received a report about a Staple store general manager accused of running an elaborate scheme. Investigators say he managed to steal more than $30,000 before his actions finally caught up with him. >> Got a GM. >> Mhm. my uh he just went on LOA. >> Okay. >> What is that? >> 20 nights leave of absence. >> Okay. >> I request to the store to this GM, send me your guard log that shows their sign for it. Garter comes picks them up once a week >> and then our weekly deposit log. So he sends that to me and they look fine. Look like they're picked up and gone. So I'm thinking, "Oh, it's not our fault. Must be the Garta." >> They have a camera system. So I have to verify and confirm, right? So I'm watching it and in any given week you got seven business days. Carter comes once a week. He gets seven business days. >> So they should pick up a minimum of of seven bags. >> So guard comes in. They're supposed to pick up seven bags. He scans six. It's clear as a day in the >> record showed seven bags. Yet surveillance footage revealed the guard only ever received six. That left just one possible suspect, the general manager. >> The guy I'm suspicious of. It's so obvious. I'll show you a clip. >> Okay. >> The GM, he's got a problem. There's no question about this. Everybody, I mean, I talked to the the key holders. I go, "Anything different going on?" That's another story. That's He says he's in the hospital. He's in rehab. Anyway, but the way it's set up, it's motion activated. So, as soon as that door comes open, the the video backs up maybe 2 seconds. >> Mhm. >> And then it it it starts recording. >> Okay. >> And then you see the door open, you see the people come in. What he does is he uses this prop right there. He used that once. This is This is lost and found stuff that shouldn't have been down there, but this envelope was in there and he's he has no reason to really go in there unless a customer says, "Hey, I left my passport here and just went in there." But this is so out of policy, it's not even funny. >> The general manager tried to outsmart the system by positioning himself just out of the camera's view while slipping deposit money into a lost and found envelope. From there, he'd quietly carry the cash into his office. What's your name, sir? >> Anthony. >> Anthony, you're under arrest. You have you have an arrest warrant. Okay. >> Is there any guns in here? No, sir. >> Okay. Just stay right where you're at. >> You're under arrest for felony charges out of the city of West Palm Beach and referenced in fraudulent. Nope. That was for That was for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. >> Yes, sir. Charges. City of West Palm Beach. Come on out. >> Come on out. No. Come on out. Well, put your hands on top of the car and we'll back charges. >> They're new. They're new. >> You You got arrested on the 12th >> for Palm Beach County. That was for schemes of defraud and using other people's property, things like that. This is for something completely different. >> Anthony was visibly stunned. After taking a leave of absence, he returned to work as if nothing had happened. And with no one mentioning the investigation, he likely believed he had gotten away with it. Um, so I'm recording. Um, I'm the detective assigned to this investigation. Okay. Uh, you understand that you're obviously under arrest. You have the right, >> right, >> to remain silent. Um, that anything you say may and will be used against you. >> Do you understand that? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Right now, it's the time for me to ask you questions and for you to answer whatever you want to answer. >> Okay. Uh the allegations are that were you an employee of Staples? >> Yeah, I work for Staples. >> Okay. And then what's your date of birth, Anthony? >> Um how long do you work for Staples? >> I work for Staples. I started with them in New York um in uh April 2023. >> Anthony claimed his 3-month absence was due to a medical condition brought on by jobreated stress. However, based on his explanation, the workload didn't appear to be any more demanding than what most corporate managers typically face. >> What was it about the job that you don't have to talk about your physical ailments, but what was it about the job that would make you physically ill? >> So, um just uh very um strenuous uh shifts. There was a lot. The company went through some very major um realignments and shifts, changes to their operation structures and personnel structures, functional structures of personnel. You know, I was um brought there under the pretense and and agreement. Part of why I accepted it was because I was told it was a turnkey operation and then that it was going to be um transitioning to a growth market model. So upon going there and we we started getting bombarded with um very high level um visits from corporate from all over the country um you know from the investment group and with that leading up to it it would be fire drills to just prep make preparations clean store get all things just perfect and I mean working open to close for days weeks at a time for that >> Anthony seemed to think the job would be a breeze until the corporate visits. Fire drills, endless cleaning, and other responsibilities piled up. It appeared he just couldn't handle the pressure. >> Particular location and area in the surrounding stores hadn't gone through the transition. I'm just trying to set the >> So, so you have a stressful job. I have a stressful job. People have stressful jobs. >> Do you have any idea >> and and just >> this is the time where >> you can help yourself, >> right? Is you have any idea why a detective will be talking to you right now? And before you answer, please please >> do you have any idea why I will be here talking to you specific to Staples? >> No, sir. No. >> How many people had access and a key to the cash room at Staples? >> I'd say other than myself, there were I think four. >> Four other people. Okay. I mean and that's just during that time mind you like I was telling you before there were many visits with many managers at different level. >> He quickly tried to spin the story suggesting that any senior manager who visited the store could have accessed that room. What Anthony didn't realize though was that surveillance footage clearly showed him tampering with the safe >> very frequently. >> Okay. the allegations is that there's money missing and just before you answer >> I've been working this case now for quite some time right okay >> so the allegations would you know what there will be any allegations that there will be money missing from the cash room of Staples >> I can tell you what I am privy to regarding um the discre discrepancies because I was involved with investigating them um probably I don't remember how long before I went out sick, but um I remember we provided all the information and the the uh you know the uh armored carrier uh logs and you know just everything that went along with that and at at that point um you know that's as far as I was um involved with that. When officers revealed the real reason for his arrest, Anony's stuttering grew worse and he struggled to string together a clear sentence. Watch closely. The officer even removes his glasses to lock eyes with him before delivering the ultimate question. >> They um hadn't received um uh deposits that were >> Did you ever did you ever take any money from Staples >> in before you answer that I've been dealing with this for now a few months. Mhm. >> Did you ever take any cash deposits from Staples? >> I did not take any cash deposits from Staples. And I understand >> anybody else take cash deposits from Staples? >> Not to my knowledge. Not that I've seen or I'm aware of. >> Okay. So, if there's video of you >> walking out of that cash room >> with cash deposits, >> you're saying that that video would not be truth. I'm saying that that's not what it I did not take any cash deposits out of Staples now. And I was I explained over the phone. >> Anthony defended himself by saying he worked hard on organizing the lost and found, which he claimed was stored at the bottom of the same safe used for deposits. >> Did Did I go in there and take money out of there? I mean, I I you know, I've been I've been going through enough and it it's been hard enough like what what's been going on with I was working open to close for for months on end since I started there. No days off and my family is out here. We haven't we were we weren't even able to settle into a permanent home yet. I have seven kids. Did my job. Did everything I was asked. Gone to other locations to help. >> Do you want to be truthful today or am I just going to listen to you talk? Do you want to talk about the truth or do you want to? Because the truth will set you free, I'm a reasonable person. And when there's no victim, there's no crime, Anthony. So if Staple decides not to be a victim any longer, you're not going to see Detective Palasios anymore. But if I'm going to sit here and I'm going to have to accept you lying to me, I think that's a little bit unfair. I think that's disrespectful. And we'll just we'll just leave it at that and you stick to your story. Anthony stuck to his story of innocence right up until the end. Even when confronted with multiple videos showing him taking the money. Ultimately, he was arrested and charged with felony grand theft and scheme to defraud. No scheme stays hidden forever. Surveillance and persistence will catch up with you. Even if you dodge jail, a felony record follows you for life. Comment your opinion about the case in the comment section. Let's find out the next incident. You had three $150 hard drives plus another 135 plus 189. That all adds up. >> On July 22nd, 2024 in Florida, officers were called to target regarding a shoplifting in progress. Loss Prevention reported that a man and woman who were known to be repeat offenders had been seen concealing electronics. When officers arrived on scene, they waited outside until the couple had passed all points of sail before making contact. >> Stop in front of the 25. >> Hey, stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Right here. >> 25. Stop. >> That's right. Put your hands behind your back. >> Hey, brother. Look, let me tell you. I got everything. All right. >> I'm not doing anything. I'm going to sec >> just get out of the ring. >> Hey, ma'am. Hey, relax. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> I got everything, bro. >> All right. I got everything. I got everything. >> Hey, good. >> A man caught mid heist pleads his case like he's on America's Got Talent swearing up and down. He returned everything. Spoiler, he did not. >> Hey. Hey. Listen, man. I ain't trying to make the deal, bro. >> All right, Miranda. >> Hold on. >> Hold up. I I That's mine, bro. >> That's fine. Go right there. >> Listen. >> All right. Listen. What do you find? >> Hey, let's chill out. Relax. >> Hey, listen. >> Chill out. Chill. Just listen. >> You guys okay? I'm going to go in the office. >> Listen. I got everything here. I'm not trying to go to jail today. >> Okay. >> Just listen. I I return everything. I will never come back here again. and you can ban this real figure out. I just I just need you guys to listen to me real quick. Okay, I'm going to advise each of you Miranda. Okay, >> are you guys familiar with Miranda warnings? Right. >> Okay. All right. No, I don't deserve to go to jail. You can't even say what the you arrested me for. I don't want to live more. God, I don't want to go damn it. I don't want to have no >> All right, miss. We're going to get you out of here. Okay, you going to walk on your own? You ready? >> No, I'm not ready. I just days in this. >> Okay. >> The you mean, man? >> Okay. >> Get off of me. >> You didn't see me. I'm just here. She shouted all the way into the jail, making quite the dramatic entrance for herself. In the end, she was hit with multiple charges, including abuse, probation violation, grand theft auto, and receiving stolen property. Lies and tantrums won't cover up a crime. The truth always catches up. Bad choices only pile up worse charges, turning a mistake into a downfall. If you like this video, please sign up for Law Zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> Or what did you what did you what did you buy? >> I bought some frozen food, a piece of of pizza. That's going to go bad. >> On August 25th, 2024, police pulled over a woman suspected of shoplifting. She casually insists she just came from Starbucks, not Walmart, despite her car looking like a mobile shopping mall. >> Uh she said that she just came from Starbucks, not from Walmart. uh said she was there but earlier in the afternoon. So >> Okay. >> Yeah. But she does have a bunch of bags and stuff in the uh back seat for seat. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So I don't know why. >> So you said you left Walmart a couple hours ago. >> Yeah. And then it was well maybe it was like an hour ago and then I went to um Dwell after that you might have >> before we saw you you went to the south we're going to figure it out. >> Hey Campbell what time was that picture that you cried her at? >> I mean she could be wrong. She could be wrong too, but we just want to make sure that it's not the case or it is a case before we bought sunflower seeds. Uh, >> thanks. >> Were you going to show me that again? Sunflower seeds, a blender. The camera shows you it even at 405. not an hour or so. >> I mean, I don't know what they're >> You don't have a receipt or anything? >> I don't normally take them if they fill them out. >> When asked for a receipt, she takes the scenic route first. It's the Walmart app. Then maybe an e- receipt. Then she's not sure at all. Plot twist. She might not even have shopped there. >> Order on your >> Yeah. Hey, what about your online order? >> I think that was >> use the Walmart app. >> No, >> wait. thought I clicked the buttons like honestly I mean >> you bring your own bags in then >> yeah usually >> okay then did you get all the stuff from Walmart >> no I bunch of flowers in the bag >> I saw at Walmart too I didn't know >> what's in the what's in the bags then or what did you what did you what did you buy >> I bought some frozen fruit a piece of pizza that's going to go bad >> if it's in the bag. >> But I mean, I don't know why they would accuse me of something like that. I mean, >> I just walked out cuz I had >> paid and I don't know why they would have me. >> Did you pay for everything? >> Of course. >> Can you show me what you had? >> There is a health pizza. And >> so can you show me if you did it online then you would have had that order online on your phone? >> No, I didn't do an online order. >> You said you just told me that you >> No, sometimes I click the button for paper receipt. Sometimes I click the button for email receipt. >> So then why did you show me something on Why are you trying to show me something on your phone? You didn't do an online work. >> I Because you can do e receipt. >> Officers try to figure out how she paid. She can't remember if it was cash card or magic. Eventually, she confidently guesses two 10 and a 20 for $40ish. >> Remember what? >> No, it was a market side and then I went to go look for something else cuz then I was like, you know what? Time to go cuz it's already 4:00. >> So, you went to the market side and then you left or did you go back in the store or >> No, I went back in the store to look for something else and I'm like, you know what? I don't need it. Okay. >> I don't know what I do with it if I grab one or >> what did you tell that lady? >> I said I probably but I >> So you're you're not telling me that truth. >> She can't right now. >> But how can you tell somebody that I put it in the bag? >> She said she never got a printed one and then >> she thought she went paperless, but they never I printed a receipt before I clicked the button because I >> did you use cash card? >> Um, >> she doesn't know. >> Cash. >> Used cash? >> Yeah. >> Okay. How much was it? >> It was I don't know like 40 >> 40 >> 40. >> All that stuff. The the two plants are more than $40. I mean, >> the plants are from Home Depot. She's saying she used she used just tens, fives, 220s. >> Um, a 20 and >> she used a 20 and two 10 >> apparently. >> Yep. >> All right. I'm going to move our cars out. >> Yeah. Just give him a couple minutes. He'll give us a call. >> And then you went back into the store where you're saying >> Yeah. And then he walked out the other side. >> Then you walked off the other side. >> When loss prevention was trying to like get a hold of you and stuff, why did you like keep walking? >> Because they have no right to >> They work for the store. >> The real red flag. She walked right past Walmart security when asked to show a receipt. She claims she bought pizza, pop-tarts, lemon juice, and tea, but still won't let anyone peek in her mystery bags. >> They work for the store. It's her job. >> I get that. What? >> I told him about that part. Yeah. But don't you see think it seems a little weird if someone from Walmart's asking to show you a receipt or for you to show them a receipt and then you say, "I have one, but I'm not going to show you." And then you just keep walking. >> I don't know if I printed out or stuffed it in my bag. I'm sorry. >> So, how much stuff did you buy with your $40? I bought a frozen pizza. >> A pizza. >> Um, some Pop-Tarts and um, what's it called? Granola bars. I got some lemon juice. >> Lemon juice. >> Okay. >> And I want to cook dinner later. >> So, lemon juice, granola bars, a pizza, and Pop-Tarts. Officers surprisingly patient give her every chance to prove she's innocent. Instead, she performs the dodgeball Olympics, dodging every question with flare. >> It's probably the easiest way to help you out in this case. You're saying you're telling the truth. >> I mean, if you stole, you stole. Did you steal? >> No, I did not. >> Okay. Do you want to prove your innocence and show what's in the bags? It' just be so simple if it was if I was in your shoes right now and I was with two trying to do your job, but I don't like people. >> I I get that. >> We're giving you the benefit of the doubt. >> Go home to eat my pizza to get my flowers home. I say like, "Officer, what are you talking about? Look at my bag. This is all I have. It was $40 worth. I just told you I bought stuff." But you're you're not doing that. And that's just making it difficult for me to believe. We're giving you the benefit of the doubt and having giving you the ability to show us what you bought. >> I I know. I can't see it though. >> I know. >> Cuz you did. >> Once you guys come in, you're going to start looking for everything. >> Is there something in the car that shouldn't be in the car? >> No, we're talking. No, I'm serious. No, I >> Cops tell her surveillance footage will soon reveal the truth. Whether she walks away with a misdemeanor or a felony depends on how many unpaid snacks she hoarded. >> It would be so much easier if you just let us look in the grocery bags. Cuz if you did end up stealing, I'm not saying you did, but if you did end up stealing, we're going to find out. The officer that's at Walmart's coming and he has the video and he's watching the whole store video. We're giving you the benefit of doubt just so if you did not steal, you can prove your innocence and once he gets here, it's a mistake. That's what's frustrating. We're trying to help you. >> Well, what do they want? >> Well, they're they're accusing you of stealing. They want to press charges. Okay, so this is the deal, right? >> This is the deal. Let me talk. They know you took stuff. The other officer that was at Walmart is coming here. They saw you in the store with the bags. Okay. Did you get What did you get at Home Depot? Just the flowers. >> The clothes. >> Okay. >> Everything from Walmart is in the bag. >> Okay. So, I'm going to take the bags cuz it's evidence. >> We got to figure out how much it is. >> It's It's not like What? Grand Theft is like $1,000. >> It's 300. >> 300 >> for felony retail theft. It's 300 bucks. >> And boom. She confesses to stealing flowers from Home Depot. Not exactly a getaway plan worthy of Oceans 11. >> You have a Walmart? >> Yeah. >> That's Walmart. They just pay for Walmart. to pay for. >> So, this is all unpaid for. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> We just We need to bring it back to the store. >> I know. >> Is all this from Home Depot? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> We're going to collect it back cuz we need to get it back to the store. Okay. Hey, can I turn on anything? >> So, here here's what I'm going to do. Uh, >> you just put in my car. I can do this part. >> I'll tell you. I'll put on the driver's side of my car. >> I appreciate your Let me just see Mark 83. >> Wait, can I just leave it? Not leave my car right here. We're going to figure that out in just one moment. Okay. Are these too tight at all? >> No, they're fine. >> Game over. She's arrested and charged with retail theft from both stores. Officers gather all her freebies for evidence and return while she gets a pair of metal bracelets for her trouble. Lying and dodging only make things worse. Honesty could have helped her case. Shoplifting for multiple stores turns a bad decision into serious legal trouble. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. >> Is that your car? >> No, it's not. >> Is the car stolen? >> No, the car not stolen. >> Whose car is it then? >> It's my mom's car. >> Some thieves care more about stealing in style than staying out of trouble. Like this next group who rolled up to a beauty store in Neil, Illinois in a sleek black Mercedes. But their bold entrance was met with an even bigger surprise. Police were already waiting inside. For this trio of wouldbe thieves, it turned into a day they won't soon forget. being good. >> Got really small wrists. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Um, >> could I get my phone? >> That's my phone, guys. >> Just stay safe. One second. >> You don't make the rules here. You just stole from this place. >> Okay. Patrol officers were already on alert after reports of a black Mercedes being involved in two Ulta beauty thefts. While monitoring the Ulta on Aurora Avenue, they spotted the suspect vehicle in the parking lot. Three individuals exited the car and entered the store. After confirming it was the same vehicle from previous thefts, officers waited. When the suspects returned, carrying bags likely filled with stolen items and jumped into the Mercedes. Police quickly moved in. The suspects tried to flee and even struck a police vehicle, but they were swiftly boxed in and apprehended. >> Yeah, they came out with three bags. Hey, boss man. I'm I'm on body cam. Hey, we're at the Alta. We uh got some retail thievers in custody. Uh they hit one of our cars, so just letting you know. >> Yep, we have three. custody. >> Jayla J Adam >> she injured. >> I just want to call my mom. >> Are you injured? >> How old are you? >> I'm 19. >> 19. >> She is pregnant. >> I just want to call you. >> Don't call your mom. >> No. I said I just >> do want to call her to let her know. The situation remains relatively calm as officers detain the suspects and prepare them for transport. All three are expected to be arrested for theft. However, one of the young female suspects objects to the arrest, expressing frustration and refusing to cooperate fully with the officers. >> Um he's just confirming all three. >> Yeah, we can uh we can probably throw them in cars though cuz they're there's PC. >> Yep. Okay. So, I'm going to Okay. >> She She What's going on with her? >> You understand that you're under arrest? Everyone, >> I I do understand that. I just want to know. She under arrest as well. >> Yeah, everybody's under arrest. >> What's she under arrest for? >> What are you under arrest for? >> Are you unclear? >> Yes. I do want to know what all I'm being charged with right now. >> You're not being charged with anything right now. You're under you're under arrest right now for theft. >> Okay. >> Cuz you guys steal >> and she going to be under arrest for theft. >> The video is muted for some reason, but it's obvious that the girl's trying to come up with some lame excuse for the situation. My guess is she was trying to blame the theft on her friends. But this cop isn't buying. >> Went in there and stole some stuff. You guys don't have any receipts for the stuff you just brought out >> and you guys been stealing from other places today? >> Like we was just tired of it. That's why we stopped you finally. All right. >> All right. You guys all went in. You guys all stole stuff. You guys all brought today. >> You guys all came out fast. >> The video may be muted, but the girl's body language speaks volumes. It's clear she's scrambling for an excuse, likely trying to shift the blame onto her friends. However, the officer remains unfased, clearly not buying the story. The evidence and their coordinated actions makes it hard for any of them to dodge responsibility. If you guys have been at three different four different stores or is it five? How many stores have you been to today? Okay. This doesn't actually require an interview because everything's captured on video >> and there's people that do this all day. Loss prevention. >> Yeah. >> So So it don't it don't matter. >> It's retail theft. >> Okay. Have you ever been arrested for retail theft? No. This your first time? Have you ever been arrested? No. Okay. Have you? So, the process is you get handcuffed, you get taken to a jail, you get fingerprinted, photographed, you get charged with retail theft. You have to pay people back. You have to give your the property back. >> Okay. >> Uh you get caught again, it's going to be a felony. Today might be a felony because of the amount they stole. >> 19 with your first felony. That's a bad day. >> Yeah, it's a bad day. This cop wasn't sugarcoating anything. He was being blunt, maybe even more candid than protocol typically allows. In a moment that felt more like a life talk than an arrest, he gave the young woman a strange piece of advice. Something along the lines of, "If you're going to do crimes, at least don't do them with people dumber than you." It was raw, unexpected, and oddly reflective, leaving the suspect more stunned than angry. >> Or others, go to Cook County. I heard they don't prosecute anything. >> I heard You're not injured and all that. So, why'd you run into our car? >> I don't know. >> She's trying to get away. Is that your car? >> No, it's not. >> It's the car stolen. >> No, the car not stolen. >> Whose car is it then? >> It's my mom's car. >> Your one minute. >> You're going to take >> I just want to figure out what's going to happen with the car. >> What's going to happen with the car? >> It's going to get towed. >> Okay. I I don't know. >> Possibly. >> Possibly seized. >> Cease. That means if it's seized, it means that we're going to take the car. We're going to sell it. >> Can >> What's your first >> Can there be any way we work to We can talk about that. >> We'll talk about the jail. >> As a female officer searches the woman, a male cop asks a routine but serious question whether she's a drug user and if she might have any needles in her pocket. The suspect denies it and the search turns up nothing dangerous. Besides a single dollar and some over-the-counter pregnancy medication, she's pretty clean. Her belongings are bagged up for processing while the consequences of her choices begin to sink in. harder than it got to be today. >> Thank you. >> That means a lot. Your >> cooperation is going to go a long way. Okay. >> Thank you. >> That's your sister. >> Younger sister. >> Older sister. >> All right. You make mistakes, right? Like I told her, nobody's injured. Okay. This is a theft, >> right? >> Was it dumb? Yes. >> But we're going to learn from that. That's a today's >> The female officer asks about the pregnancy and the woman says she's 6 months along with a baby boy, but her face shows no joy, only fear. >> Baby, there you go. >> Good goal. >> Exactly. >> Thank you guys for not being >> hard today. >> Hardest could have been. >> I appreciate >> I appreciate you putting the car in park and then nobody else got injured. Okay. >> Thank you. >> That that could have been bad. >> Okay. Okay, I'll tell you next time, just stop, right? Cuz it's it's going to go like this. Otherwise, it could have been a lot worse, right? Especially when you're pregnant, you want to be getting in an accident, okay? >> The officer emphasized cooperation, encouraging the suspect to keep working with law enforcement, not against them. But it seemed the suspect was more concerned about what awaited her at jail. She also hinted that not everyone involved was equally guilty. A claim that's hard to believe given the circumstances. >> I wouldn't like to search it. It's nothing in there. So, >> it's a yes or no. >> No, I don't want to. >> I just I was just kind of like gauging your level of cooperation. There's uh stolen property in plain view. So, that kind of opens it up. And we're >> already It's already y'all already. >> We I was just looking to see like >> Do you want to look at the trunk or something? Is there anything in the trunk? >> You can open it. Go ahead. But it's it's nothing in there. Okay. >> One life for the car to be searched. It's not my car. >> I got you. So, because there's stolen property in plain view. >> Uh that's why it's going to be searched in because it has to get towed. It has to be searched anyway. >> Yeah. That's what I said. It's already going to be searched. >> I was just going to see like, oh, let's see how cooperative she's going to be. >> It was kind of like a test. Are you going to pass test down the road? Like when we try to talk to you. >> What you mean? >> Be a little more cooperative. >> I'm not trying to make this a test or >> No, it's fine. We're going to put you in the car over here. Okay. >> Could um have you ever like been through this before? Like arrested anybody for like similar to this >> for retail theft? >> Yes. >> Could you tell me like how the process of >> Yes. So you read your Miranda, right? Is that correct? >> Yeah. >> Yes. Okay. So obviously you know that you were under arrest and like they told you you're under arrest for retail theft. Okay. Um, so obviously the proceeds are in the car which we've already were able to see right away. Okay. And I believe your cooperation. Did you already tell them that you did take some items from in the store today? >> I already did. Yes. >> So with that being said, that is kind of why you're under arrest today. Um, depending on who um I don't know if it's going to be myself or we might have some other individuals that want to speak with you, okay, about this today. And we'll do that at the jail. We don't want to do it right out here because there's so many people. We just want to get you back there, air conditioned, get the process going cuz ultimately you're going to come back to the >> Can I get a jacket out my car? I don't want to be cold while >> you actually can't have one in the jail. We do have blankets though. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Dariel Rice, 19, Skyler Esco, 19, and Jayla Alon, 20, were all arrested and charged with two counts of felony retail theft and one count of burglary. Dariel faced additional charges for attempted criminal damage to government property and driving without a license. Although all three were released pending trial, Neil police are still investigating their possible involvement in other retail thefts. So more charges may be on the way. Stealing in style still ends in cuffs. Crime doesn't care about appearances. Even flashy getaways can't outpace solid police work and surveillance. On February 5th, 2024, officers responded to Kohl's in reference to a shoplifting in progress. When the first officer arrived on scene, he was met by a loss prevention associate at the front doors. The associate said he observed a known shoplifter enter a dressing room where he suspected she was concealing items on her person. >> All right. She's in the changing room right now. She's got jewelry and some clothing in there. She's trying to conceal on her person. I got footage from her in the past store and stuff like that. Okay. You'll have an LP office. >> Yeah. I kind of right over here on the right. >> Where's the room? >> So, why does she look like African raids? Gray sweatpants, black hoodie with a white symbol. Okay. We'll wait right here for her. loss prevention LP had previous footage of the same woman shoplifting but had not yet filed a report due to time constraints. >> Y'all never see two? >> No, she it's been recent. I was going to fill out police report. I got all the evidence and everything. >> Just haven't had time to put in a police report. been busy. >> I gotta 2531. Where you at? If you come in the store, we're going to be in the center by these rooms. You want to go around? >> Yeah, you can go down if you want. I know what I'm looking for. Officers locate the suspect and she attempts to flee the store but is quickly apprehended outside in the parking lot. >> Excuse me. >> Come here, sir. Go ahead and come with me. >> Where? I ain't got it this comment. 231. I got one running. Get out of co. >> Where you at? right out front. She's in custody. >> Now, that was about the dumbest thing you could have done. >> Why we run? >> Cuz I'm in my my nose. >> Oh, this. >> I'm with somebody and they had me stealing. The woman claims someone else made her steal socks and expresses disbelief about being arrested just for socks. >> For socks. Going to jail for socks. >> Let's get inside. If they got a loss prevention area, we'll search her there. Yeah. Let's go. Where's your LP office? >> All right. Searching. >> You got gloves? >> Yeah. There's something right here. >> During a search in the loss prevention office, a suspect admits to concealing items in her pants and under her hoodie. Yeah, I see it. All right. Hey, look at me. You're a female. I'm going to search you. I'm going to walk through what I'm doing as I'm doing it. Okay. >> Okay. >> How much stuff do you have on you? >> I do have some in my pants. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Face towards the camera or face away from me. All right. I'm going to pull the back of this away. Is it underneath here as well? >> Okay. Tracy won't run off. Give me five minutes. >> He's where I'm coming for. Go ahead and send me a case number. >> Hey, she's got a buddy that was here with her last time who's at the register right now. Try to check out. >> Is he attempting to shoplift? >> No, not this time. But we got a case. >> Hey, did you follow case with us and everything? >> No. Yeah. Well, I guess we got nothing on. >> All right. I'm going to unzip your jacket. What are we wearing underneath it? >> Um, I just got on my shirt and my >> Okay. Officers inform her that fleeing added an extra charge and that she is being taken to jail. I'm going to check your sleeves. Picking up your hair to check your hood and behind you. All right. Here's what I'm going to tell you. Look at me. Because you ran, you have an extra charge. >> Okay. >> You are going to go to Perry. >> Okay. Concealing stuff on you when you get inside of Perry is an extra charge. Did I miss anything? >> No, sir. >> Okay. >> The suspect falsely claims to be a minor born in 2012, but is quickly corrected. She is actually 20 years old. Not >> me being a minor, but I got >> You're a minor. How old are you? >> My November 14th, 2002. >> How old are you? You said 2002. You're 20. >> You're not a minor. >> Minor people under the age of 18. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Should be a $300 bracelet somewhere as well. >> Where's the bracelet at? >> I left it. >> You left it? Did you take it out of the packaging? >> Uh, no. Yeah, I left it in the thing. Okay. >> These are $40 shirts. Yep. Have a seat. All right. All right. >> I don't know if you heard, but multi multi. >> Okay. >> Um I think two through bib, one through cob. >> Bib and cob. >> Yeah. Okay. Go ahead. Stand up for me. And when it go >> uh price by such >> the total value of stolen items exceeds $500, making the offense more serious. Some items like a necklace were still missing. >> Does this I'll get you a receipt and give it to you. >> I've got them. >> Oh, you already got it. >> Price is enough. I'm just trying to think. Still still >> I don't know what the total was. >> Round six. >> Oh, it's fell. Yeah, it's felony shoplift thing. >> Okay. Yeah, it's over five cuz of the necklace that's still missing. We got to that though once we started adding up the shorts and stuff. >> Yeah, >> that's why I don't so cold now. Suppose too expensive. >> I know they sell caterpillar jackets. I didn't even know Caterpillar had a line of clothes. >> Wow. Officers reflect on the incident, noting the shoplifters's poor decision to flee and how coordination helped ensure her quick capture. All right. >> Look like you had fun. >> Try to like transport cuz I thought they were over there. >> No, we both pulled up here. I went one I went the wrong direction. I think that's why she took off. Gohead and have sweet forms. >> She was charged with theft by shoplifting felony and obstruction my demeanor. She was sentenced to 2 years in jail and 10 years of probation. Attempting to flee only worsens legal consequences and dishonesty. Eg. lying about age doesn't help cooperation is always the better choice. >> Aren't going to do this again? >> Police respond to a shoplifting call at Target on January 15th, 2025. Woman detained for investigation. >> Hey. >> Hello. Hello. >> How's it going? >> Hi. Just you know my camera's on right now. You're not free to leave. Okay. For investigation, can you stand up for me so I can press her weapons? >> Stand up for me. >> Thank you. >> The woman is visibly distressed, hyperventilating, and struggles to communicate. Officers discover her primary language is Gujarati from India. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> Do me a favor. Just take a deep breath cuz we're going to chat. She's been like that the whole 40 minutes. >> Has it been since you stopped her? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have a seat. >> Do me a favor. Take a big breath. >> As deep in as you can. >> You got to take a deep breath. One breath. Not hyperventilate. >> Cuz I got to be able to talk to you. And if I can't talk to you or if you're reading like that, I can't talk to you. Okay. >> Try to get information out of her, but she won't uh respond. >> Do you speak English? >> Very good. >> Not very good. What's your primary language? >> Gujarati. >> What is it? >> Gujarati. Where is that from? in >> officers explain she won't be jailed if properly identified but will receive a court summons. Woman claims limited English and inconsistent answers about ID license. >> So we're here. They called us saying you were shoplifting. Do you have any ID on you? A driver's license or anything like that? >> No. Do you have any medical issues? Do you need me to call the fire department for you right now? >> No. >> No. >> Okay. Is this normal for you when you get nervous? >> Okay. Have you ever had a license or anything like that? Is >> I I have I have I have >> What's that? >> I I have like >> Okay. Is it out of Washington or out of a different state? >> Okay. So, the name that I don't know if you gave them the name or where your name came from. It came back clear. No record. So, I'm going to be totally honest with you. Okay. If you shoplifted and I can identify you, I'm not taking you to jail tonight. Okay? You'll get a charge. >> Loss Prevention confirms she is a regular shoplifter, though this is the first time she's been caught. She admits she intended to resell some items. Don't want to talk to him. Okay, that's okay. You don't have to talk to him. I'm not going to talk to him. It was Pamar. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Pomar, are you okay? Tell me what's going on. >> Are you saying you aren't going to do this again? >> Have you ever done this before? Yeah, she's a regular. >> Have you been able to apprehend her before? >> No, this is the first time that anyone's approached her. >> Okay. So, no trespass warnings or anything like that yet? >> Okay. >> Is there a reason why you you took all this stuff? >> Okay. Are you able to talk to us about why we're here tonight? >> What? Are you able to tell us why we're here tonight? What happened? >> Were you going to take these things and then resell them for money? >> Some of it. >> Some of it. >> Officers verify her ID, try to calm her, and ask why she's so scared. She appears fearful, possibly of her husband, as suggested by her reaction to his phone call. >> Just we're checking your ID right now to make sure you are who you say you are. Okay. >> Hey. Yeah, I'll keep you posted. I like your name. >> Okay, look. >> Okay, I already told you if if that is your name, I'm not taking you to jail tonight. >> Okay, so I need you to try and relax a little bit >> cuz I can't get your side of the story if if you were not able to speak with me. So, what all were you going to try and sell out of the things that you took? What were you going to try and sell? Are you scared from me or whoever this is about what's going to happen? >> I'm not going to answer it. >> Is that person outside right now? >> No, he's not outside. >> He's waiting for you. >> What would you suggest is the third option? You are obviously very scared right now, and I don't know why, but you're the one who chose to come in here and try and steal things. >> So, for me, >> the store wants to prosecute. Officers decide to send charges by mail and issue a citation for theft. >> Okay. Do you have an alternative mailing address somewhere else that we can send it to you? No. Okay, then I don't have another option. >> So, is there something going on at home that you need to talk to us about? >> Okay. Well, they're wanting to assist in prosecution. So, I am going to send up charges. You're going to get a >> She's also served a trespass warning, signs paperwork, and is told she can't return to Target. Officers stress she can disclose any unrelated personal issues like problems at home. >> Up here has some trespass stuff to go over with you. >> All she has to do is just sign this, but when I brought it up to her, that's when he started calling. So then I took it away just cuz I didn't want her. >> All you have to do is just sign this. Okay. Can you just sign it for me, please? >> You broke the law, which is why we're here. And my partner is saying if there's something else you want to tell us unrelated to what happened tonight, you can >> like if something's going on at home that you need to tell us about, you can do that. >> Okay, let's do this one step at a time. Do you want to sign this? Yes or no? You don't have to, but they would like you to. >> Yes. Okay. Can you sign that for me? >> She is released, instructed to leave the property, and told to expect her court date notice in the mail. Officers note her emotional reaction intensified after her husband called >> for today and then you're going to get something in the mail. That's where we're at. >> Whenever the court sends it out. That's not in my area. >> I don't know. How would they go to court? >> I don't that's that's up to you. You can use public transit. You can call an Uber. Whatever you need. But for right now, we need to go. Excuse. >> Officers speculate her fear may be due to her husband's influence. Either he pressured her to steal or she fears his reaction if he finds out. >> She's already crying, but the moment I went to get it signed, she was like crying even more. I'm like, I'm like, "Hey, you're good. Just breathe." And I look down and I see the wedding ring emoji and I'm like, "Oh, it's her husband." >> And I was like, "Her husband's either telling her to do this or she's doing this and he doesn't know." >> Yeah. And so I mean both ways she probably thinks that he's going to respond in a way. >> Woman formally charged with theft, banned from Target, and scheduled for a court appearance. Lingering question remains whether her fear was genuine or an act. Stealing may seem like an easy way out, but it always brings lasting consequences. No matter the excuse, the truth will eventually come to light. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. Look, these are my eyes. She just said, >> "Yeah, but you can't do that, though." >> I can't look. >> You can't. >> Police respond to a Target store after three shoplifterss flee with nearly $2,000 in stolen merchandise. Officers chase and apprehend suspects. >> Stop. Where they go? Over. >> Which one? >> Overfield talk on the radio. What do you have? >> Hang on. Go to him. >> And that's my friend. with another >> in between clock cars near center line. >> I ain't doing nothing. >> All right, you can just walk over there. >> Overfield. >> Walk over. >> Okay. >> It was like a short Bravo mic or Bravo Fra perhaps. >> Remind me that Hyundai, that burgundy Hyundai. They're coming out pretty fast. Can I get my shoes, please? >> Where are they at? >> Yep. >> Can you get her shoes? >> No, that's fine. >> What? >> Later. You want to run from the police? I'm ready to give you no shoes. >> Hey, keep her there. Keep her there. Keep her there. >> Nope. Stay right here. >> Okay. >> Do you have anything sharp on you? How old are you? >> 18. >> 18. Okay. The one with the pink uh pink. >> Okay. >> Scan everything. Get your own. >> Hang on. Go back to the LP office. So LP is actually on the floor. So these two are positively identified. >> Spread the feet. Lean forward against the car. >> Do it now or you're resisting and you'll get a resist, [ __ ] >> [ __ ] why do you do that? >> Because she's searching you. >> My head though. Like she going to pull the whole thing off. >> That's right. >> Yes. >> People put all the time. >> [ __ ] I did it though. Like you she literally snatched the [ __ ] off. Like >> are you crazy? >> Can you see under it? >> There we go. >> Thank you. >> No, >> nothing. >> Just a bobby pin. >> Just a bobby pin. >> Oh, you going to say? >> Yep. >> Let me just um just pull it down. I don't I don't think I know how to do that. >> Well, like tie it like you're trying to >> Can I like twist it? >> Oh, you can just pull it up. >> Officers explain to the suspects that running won't help as multiple police units are already on scene. Suspects are told they will likely be taken to jail. You want to get Listen, I get it. You want to get away, but it it's a little late when like you got 10 cop cars showing up. I know it's hot. >> Swear to God. >> Keep your feet crossed. >> I'll keep you. My bad. >> It's broke. >> Okay. >> Trying to turn it off. >> Yep. >> No, don't turn. >> Save some battery. >> No, I got >> You can't communicate on it. >> I'm not. Just put it down. You watch it stay. >> Oh, >> we'll do the paperwork downstairs. SC. >> Uh, most likely. >> You have any idea how much you stole? >> We stealing. I ain't mad. You go get my shoes. No, he gone. >> I got to stay with you, but we'll get your shoes. Don't worry. Before Before we go anywhere, you're getting your shoes. Okay. >> Okay. >> Merchandise is gathered for documentation. Officers prepare paperwork and clarify that suspects will have a chance to call family from jail. >> Search my car. >> I'm do what's called a visual inspection. That's open to the public. I'm not searching your vehicle. >> I'm just asking trying to make sure. I'm going to go get the truck and bring the truck up. >> That way we can at least have them sitting in a car. >> So ask anyways. I'm going to go and tell you what you telling me. >> That's what it's going to look like. >> It's 95 in there. So we'll wait for the show up. What's >> that? >> What does it show up? >> I don't know. It's her other girl. That's her friend. >> Okay. We're going to stand up. Okay. >> I know it's hot you. So, we're going to sit down in the dark. Do you have any pockets? >> No, I don't got no pockets. >> Okay. >> One suspect complains about being dragged. While officers insist they are just escorting her, resistance continues during searches with suspects pulling away. >> I'm sorry. I'm so security. You're walking. Come on, man. >> Come on. Come on. Chill out. You acting too much. You're doing too much. >> Yeah, no problem. >> You have an ID on you by a chance. You can take a seat. Baka 45 alpha headquarters. If you could time stamp this, we're starting the show up. Who has the third person? Where you at? >> We're behind flippers. >> 545 to Quas. We're behind flippers. Behind flippers. >> Put down. >> Stop. >> What? Bro, did you not see what he doing? >> I'm seeing you do it. >> Me? >> Targets loss prevention confirms they want to press charges. Officers coordinate to get mug shots for store records. >> Yeah. Yeah. Eventually. >> Yeah. >> Where's um where would Wilkins be at? >> Uh do you don't know? >> Target. >> Target. >> Are you asking me a question? What's the question? I'm sorry, I just can't hear you. >> The merchandise is the shopping cart that you guys left and ran away from. >> Yep. I just always forget because it's it doesn't click to the front. Final tally, 929 worth of stolen merchandise, not including tax4 in. All three suspects were charged with felony, retail theft, shoplifting because they ran and resisted officers during arrest. Resisting arrest is also a likely charge. Running from the cops only adds more charges to your record. Stealing nearly $2,000 from a store guarantees felony trouble, not a quick escape. If you like this video, please sign up for law zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> The police, bro. Like, so she just she's just listening. No, listen. >> In the next body cam clip, officers were called to a Walmart after a disruptive customer allegedly sparked a heated verbal dispute inside the store. Stop. I need you to stop. >> Step over here. >> Like, stop playing with me. Like, for real. I came from laundry detergent. What's going on? >> She literally I said excuse me to her husband. He moving out the way and everything. She talking about, "Oh, blah blah blah." You said this to my husband, blah, blah. I said, "No." I said, "Excuse me, he moving out the way and everything." >> She the one I went by. >> You're not going anywhere. So, quick. >> I don't have to. That's fine. That's fine. Like I said, I asked her husband to move out the way. I said, "Excuse me, he move out the way." She talking about, "Oh, she's talking about, "Oh, well, you didn't have to say that blah blah to my I turned around. She talking about she just started like saying like the most." >> Okay. >> I came here to find you charging. That's it. >> So, did they get physical or what's >> No, it's nothing physical. It's just words. >> Just words. >> Yes. Just words. It's nothing physical at all. Nobody put their hands on each other or nothing like that. So, can I leave, please? Can you get your hand on my car? >> You got ID on you? No, it's in the car. >> No. What's your last name? >> My last name? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Now, can we get this going so I can um get out of my my shopping? >> No, ma'am. We don't dictate this situation. >> Okay, that's fine. But um can we get this going to the radio? >> You don't dictate. So, you're going to keep >> I can do something about that and we can go back to my car and I can listen. >> That didn't have to happen. Okay. >> She didn't have to say at all. >> Simple as that. My name my last name. Like I said, >> what's your first name? >> Raven. R A B N. Anything else? >> Date of birth. >> What's your address? >> You on the phone. It's right. You on the phone with me. You scanned it. Literally, he just seen all this just happened. >> But things quickly took a turn when the woman grew argumentative, insisting the officer was treating her unfairly, accusing him of assuming she was at fault without bothering to hear her full side of the story. >> What's your address? You approached me, but I approached her. >> Cuz you're being the aggressive. >> She's No, I'm not. She started with me. >> Oh, you're being separated and you >> Okay. Like I said, you're not going to approach her, but you approached me, right? >> Okay. Let's go to the front of the store. >> I'm going No, no, no. I'm going to go ahead and get your bathroom. I'm going go ahead and get your bathroom. I'm going to need your bathroom and everything. >> Let's go to the front of the store. >> This going to have to be written down. >> This going to have to >> because at this point, you got you you approached me but not her. And she's the one who started it. You don't know what started all of this, but she approached me but not her. It's fine. >> Okay. >> No, it's fine. >> Like I said, what is your um >> Longberg 597? >> Longird. Can you do this in front of your son or we can do this? >> This is not my son. This is my nephew. Nephew. >> Okay. You're you're you're just assuming things, but you don't know what's going on. So, like I said, >> well, you're more than tuned to getting my >> No, cuz she's not in a shopping place. When I come over here to look for a laundry detergent, you're not going to do that to me. So, like I said, Longberg, what is your badge number? 597. Thank you. Anything else you need from me? >> Yes, ma'am. >> What is it? >> Most likely, you're going to be trespassed from the store. >> Okay, listen. Listen. Yeah, that's that's fine with me. >> Okay, that's fine with me. Like I said, um I will be having your badge number. And also, >> you already have my badge number. >> Also, no, no, no. Also, um >> I will be um Pineellis. >> Does it look like I'm Pel? >> No, Panelis, are you logo? Are you Pelis? Are you clear water? Are you logo? Which one are you? >> No, you can. >> Cuz at this point, you approach me. No, no, no. You approach me >> and say to approach the other lady. How was that? Because >> cuz you're being aggressive. >> So why why just starting with me, right? And then she going she literally started me. So I said I told her I'm trying to get out the way before they can move. Well, >> they're fine. >> Okay. Well, that's >> the suspect explained that the dispute started because another woman refused to step aside, blocking her from getting through the aisle. However, according to reports, it was actually the suspect identified as Raven who had been the aggressor. >> Bro, like, so she just she just Listen, no, listen. She just approached me. I'm with Mind you, I'm with Saden. I'm over here by the toilet paper, by the laundry, all that. I came over here for laundry detergent. This she literally This Mexican I don't know who she was. This Mexican lady, she listen. So, this what happened. I'm passing by with Zen. It's so many people, mind you. It's so many people in the way. I told No, I told him. I said I said, "Excuse me." So, her husband, he moved out the way. He didn't say at all. >> He moved out the way. >> So, why he >> So, why is he here? That's what I'm saying. >> We got a disturbance. We had like four people call. >> Like I said, you approached me, but you did not approach her. >> I've already explained that to you. >> Like I said, what's the problem? >> I've already explained that to you. No, you're not going to do this. You're not going to do that. >> Okay. You can take them. Most likely there's going to be this >> for why you're having an altercation in front of the child. >> He was not He was not right there. >> I was at the front. So how? >> She was with your child. >> He was not right there. >> He was literally a whole freaking He wasn't even by me at this point. This lady is argue with me. And you want to talk about the UCF case? I'm walking with a toddler. >> Okay. >> I'm walking with a toddler and this lady literally say something out her mouth like just crazy. I turned around and I said like, "What? What is your problem? like what's what's going on? So she going to talk about oh you want to say this is my husband this and that blah blah blah. So I told her I said I asked your husband to move out the way and he moved he moved out the way with no problem. That's what I'm that's what I'm getting at right now. He moved out the way with no problem and he literally he didn't say nothing at all. She the one who was standing on the side talking out her mouth and I turned around I said like what is the problem? Like what what like what do you really have going on? So then that's when just all that stuff. I came up here looking for laundry detergent. Like that's just just that period. I didn't start there. I didn't start with her. I didn't do to her. It was no hand. So it was nothing going on. >> Raven's sister stepped in attempting to calm her down and keep the situation from escalating. But convinced the officer was treating her unfairly, Raven kept arguing, letting her frustration override her sister's efforts. That's not fair to me because she started with me saying something saying excuse. I don't care if she a grown ass lady. I do not care. You do not say stuff like that if it's a whole bunch of traffic. If it's a whole bunch of traffic coming through Walmart, I'm saying excuse me like can you please the way I'm on the phone for one saying like it's a lot of people here like they got away. It's nothing more, nothing less. So please like please just I just need to I just need to get my No, I need to get my stuff and I need to leave. Simple as that. going to get >> my mouth getting dry. I had foam out the mouth. I was so dead. >> Where is the lady? >> This lady did not approach her. Didn't approach her at all. >> Keep your >> listen. But okay, so I have a question. >> Yes. >> Well, what's going on? Why you approached her? >> Because she was the aggressor from what I did to start with. I didn't hit no. >> No, but it doesn't matter. >> Okay. So why? So why? So what? So what's going on? Because if she didn't hit no one, then she didn't do anything. >> It's still crimes that it's not no crime. It's not no threat. No, it's not no threat. It's not no crime. But it's not going on to figure out what's going on because I can't leave this. >> I can't leave. So, I'm trying. >> No, you cannot. >> Raven. Raven. Calm down. Just calm down. We don't got to get out of this place. I don't >> right now. She's going to dictate this if she goes to jail. I got you. Raven. Raven. Stop. >> If I'm No. Raven. Raven. Just stop. >> If I'm trusting, that's fine. I'm still trying to stop. I don't have to stop. You find her in here is if I start if I'm trusting >> Listen, but okay. So she Okay, so where is the other people? Because you ain't talking about talk to them. >> Yeah, she's got the issue right now. So I'm not >> She has the issue because Raven She has the issue because you're approaching her about something that she didn't do. >> Okay. >> She she can she we have free to call. She Raven Raven Raven. >> The argument escalates as Raven refuses to cooperate entirely. You can have freedom of speech. >> All you want. >> She's causing a disturbance public environment. >> Okay. >> You can play this hypothetical all day. Like I said, I know she's not listen to you later. You can't for no reason. >> Raven, can you come? >> No, I can't. You're not talking about yelling. I'm trying to tell I'm trying to tell them what the going on. Like >> I understand you're trying to calm her down. Go to the front of the store. >> It's like okay at this point it's like >> they literally approached me first, right? And then it's like they didn't approach this lady that literally started with me. It's like saying crazy me like who are you talking to? Like you talking about husband stuff. It's like like that. Like who was you talking to? I wasn't even talking to your husband no type of way. Like who was who who staff person was here? >> She staff person was here. >> It was it was a a [ __ ] white lady coming out the back. >> Yes. Coming out. No, no, no, no, no. >> It doesn't matter. You're not going to go find her. >> Mexican lady. >> You're not going to go find her. Go to the front of the store or I will make you go to the front of the store at this point. >> Can you just tell me what you're going to do with her? >> I'm still trying to figure that out. So, if you can go to the front of the store, I can proceed on my way with my investigation. Get out your way. Thank you. >> Okay. What's going on? I'm going to jail or not because she started with me. You're not going to go find her. You're the only one. >> You're not causing an issue to where I can't issue. I'm not causing an issue. I'm just trying to I'm trying to get my stuff. Obviously, I'm trying to get my stuff and just leave like I came here to do. >> Okay. >> I said excuse me to her husband. >> Keep it on the shelf for 2 minutes. Let me run your name and figure it out for me. >> Sir, sir, sir, I gave you my name. I gave you my first and last name. Sir, if you can keep my data first, we'll go. Now, Raven's combative attitude is making it impossible for the officer to even run her name through the system. And instead of calming down, her complaints only grow louder and more intense. >> I gave you my first and last name. >> I understand that. Now, I'm >> I gave you my date of birth. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, what am I still waiting here for? >> Cuz I haven't even >> Because you're the only one in here. Y'all not going to go find her. >> Okay, I've already answered this like three times. So clearly you're not listening. >> I know it's a hard So who's going to go find her? We go see what's going on. >> Okay. >> Who's going to find her to go see what's going on? >> Like you answer everything else but this. Like who going to go find her? >> Like nobody told her to come by her mouth and like just say like who the are you talking to? like from death. Like it's no reason for that. >> I didn't say nothing to this lady. Number >> his badge number and everything. I got his last name, badge number, everything. I'm going to need your sergeant. I'm going to need your sergeant. >> Okay. I'm going to need your sergeant. >> I didn't do this lady. This lady started with me. >> I'm going to need your Let's go. >> Just keep it cool. No, approach me. He would not her. We're going to go to the >> That's fine. That's cool. >> Do not walk up on me. >> Who you talking to? >> Yeah. I don't know who the you think he is, but >> I don't know who you approach a black female, but don't approach a Mexican female. Keep my thing. Freedom speech come here with the shot. >> Yeah. I don't have to come to the floor. >> I don't care. I just explain to you what happened. You don't know where anybody go here. You don't know what to do. >> Once inside the security room and noticing other Walmart staff present, Raven grew even more defensive. By this point, however, the officer had clearly run out of patience with her attitude. >> Y'all have a seat. >> Can I help y'all? Can I help y'all? >> Have a seat. >> Can I help y'all? >> Have a seat. >> I'm not going to have a seat. I'm good. I'm good standing up. Like, >> where's the other lady at? >> What's up? >> Where is the other lady I got into it with? >> I don't know yet. We have officers looking. >> Okay. So, why do you just have me in here? Where? >> Whole family crowding around me and I'm by myself. >> Where the she at? >> Get the >> No, I'm not going to. What is your problem? Like I said, >> now Okay. >> Where is the lady I just got into it with? Where is the lady I got into it with? >> Where is the lady I just got into it with? Y'all have I said I have not done this lady at all. You're pulling my hair. >> Yeah. Cuz you're resisting. >> I'm not resisting. There you go. >> Like I said, >> here I can put the bag down. >> No, you're good. You're good. >> Like I said, y'all want to approach me, a black female, but don't want to approach her. She said some dumb mouth. >> Go ahead. Put them on nice and snug. Like I said, put them on nice and snug. Open your office. Can I have a seat now? >> No, I do not want to have a seat, sir. Like, why don't you understand >> what's in this pocket? >> Look in it. You got me a haircut. Look at it. The with you. The wrong with y'all. Like I said, y'all won't y'all won't look at nobody else. But I >> Y'all won't look at nobody else but a black female. I swear to God, y'all won't. Like, y'all don't understand that. This started with me out her mouth. Like all I did was come like I didn't even touch say to her. I didn't touch I can't say to her. >> A second officer arrived and tried to ease the tension by having a calm conversation with Raven. At first, the exchange seemed steady, but it didn't take long before things unraveled and the situation took a turn for the worse. >> He know my name. He got it. I'm asking. >> He has my name. >> We don't need to yell, right? >> First off. First off, that's not my name. My name is Raven. >> Okay. >> He knows my name. >> He knows my name. Like I said, your bathroom and everything. job. >> He banged jail. >> Like I said, watch them came. Like I said, she said you touch body. I said 24 hours. Like I said, lose your you lose your job. I swear to God your job. >> I swear to God, I cannot sit down. I cannot sit down at all. >> With y'all, >> you're going to sit. >> No, there you go. Damn it. >> I swear to God. I swear to God. I swear to God, bro. >> Raven, knock it off. All right. >> Wrong with y'all. >> What's wrong with you? I came here to show like I said, >> can I hear you? >> I came here to shout. >> I came here to with me. >> Close the door. >> You don't want to listen. >> I was I was telling her, "Calm down." That's what I said. Calm down. With Raven's father causing a scene inside the store, he was quickly pulled into the situation himself. Once placed in handcuffs, however, his demeanor shifted. He appeared much calmer, simply asking the officers what his daughter had done wrong. >> We told you not to knock it. >> I could hear my daughter yelling. I was telling her to calm down, bro. That's what I was doing. Telling her to calm down. Let me double lock. >> But can I ask you a question though, sir? >> Then one sec. >> Now I got to Now, >> we didn't do nothing wrong. >> You did something wrong. She did something wrong. >> What did she do, sir? >> I got to get back in there with her. So, >> well, can I ask you what did I do wrong, sir? >> Yeah, let me just >> I have nothing. That's my work bag and that's wrong. >> I'm just getting off work. All I was trying to do is see what was going on with my daughter. Man, >> you got him. I swear to God losing their job on my mama losing their job. >> Oh, she got something in her front pocket. >> I'll open the door for you.
