Ever see someone try to casually put on a seat belt right as a trooper pulls up beside them? Yeah, that's never suspicious. On June 25th, 2025, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was on patrol in Miami Dade County conducting an operation with Homeland Security when he spotted a gray Toyota SUV. The driver had no seat belt on and was attempting to place it across his chest at the exact moment the trooper was watching. The Toyota came to a stop and then the real chaos begins. took off. He took off. He's taking off. He took off. But as trooper approached the vehicle, the driver hit the gas and began to flee. The trooper informed the regional communication center he was in pursuit. 43. 1031. South 8264. >> The fleeing vehicle continued eastbound. The suspect was driving all over the road and changing lanes like crazy despite many vehicles on the road at the time. But the trooper still managed to stay right behind him and wait for the right moment to intervene. Somebody from the north is chasing himself. Mommy 102. [screaming] [screaming] The driver, identified as Nelson Jose Gomez Leyon, wasn't done yet. He exited through the driver's side window, jumped the concrete barrier wall, and began fleeing on foot. But after shortfoot pursuit, Leyon was arrested. Lyon was transported to HCA Florida Dural Emergency Center and medically cleared before being taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility. On April 16th, 2024, [music] what started as a simple theft investigation turned into a red-hot chase on US67. North Little Rock police were already behind a red Dodge Ram when troopers stepped in. As the pursuit approached, the trooper slid into primary position. Northbound to Main Street. Speed 62. Traffic Time should be fast. Okay. 2008. >> After the suspect recovered from the pit, his driving somehow got even worse. Traffic was getting heavier. The danger was rising by the second and the trooper was running out of options fast. At that point, there was only one solution left and we all know what that means. the traffic. Slow it down. TV. You got heavy. >> This is how things end when you try to flee from Arkansas State Police. The suspect was yanked out of the vehicle and taken into custody. And let's be honest, nobody was surprised when a baggie of white crystallin bonus material showed up nearby. His pockets pretty much confirmed it wasn't his first day in that business. One civilian driver was transported with head, neck, and back pain, but thankfully no troopers were injured. On February 15th, just after 4:15 p.m., Springdale PD had already chased and then dropped a blue Hyundai Sonata that refused to stop. But just because one department calls it quits doesn't mean the suspect gets a free pass. A few minutes later, troopers found themselves staring at that same sonata rolling casually down Sunset Avenue, almost like the driver thought the world had forgotten about him. The moment the light turned green, the driver made the most guilty turn imaginable. an aggressive dive onto the I49 on-ramp before the trooper even hit the lights. And just like that, the chase was on once again. I say Don Tyson. Get off the gun, guys. The suspect blasted down interstate at over 100 mph, slicing through traffic, blowing past cars with zero regard for anyone's safety, not even his own. Then he exited onto Don Tyson Parkway and kept pushing his luck, running red lights, weaving through traffic, and forcing troopers to make split-second decisions. Then out of nowhere, a passenger bailed out of the vehicle midchase. We're good on the We're good on the slide. We're good on the slide. >> Stand by. We're slowing. We're going to >> Foot down. Foot down. One passenger's out. I made contact with the vehicle. We're on I think Atlanta. >> Keep your hands up. [screaming] Keep your HANDS UP. KEEP THEM WHERE I CAN SEE THEM. KEEP THEM UP. DON'T GET OUT OF THAT CAR. DON'T GET OUT OF THAT CAR. UH-UH. >> Another passenger took off running, but the driver, Cody Bogner, was grabbed on the spot. Turns out he wasn't just running from a red light. He was an absconder from the board of parole. He wrapped up his day with a stack of charges and a court date he definitely won't want to skip this time. The chase ended right in front of some random guy's house. And that man stood there watching the whole thing unfold like it was a liveaction movie on his front lawn. On March 19th, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., Trooper James Booth was cruising north on Interstate 430 when a black Nissan SUV blew past him at 83 and a 65. The SUV jumped onto Interstate 630 eastbound. And the moment Trooper Booth tried to stop it, the driver, later identified as Jimmy Clark, decided 83 mph wasn't enough. Not that way. 55. Right. Uh 6:30. Uh 330 airport 12. He pushed past 100 mph, weaving through traffic, passing on the right, and nearly clipping two cars in front of him, like he was trying to set a personal record for almost crashes in under one minute. Clark rocketed toward the Woodrow exit, shot across two lanes like he was changing his mind in real time, and continued hammering the gas 80 mph down South Woodro with light traffic and zero sense of self-preservation. [music] Good. Okay. Don't know about the drill. Let's go. Traffic. Where was 16th? >> The SUV slammed into a concrete barrier and a power pole. Sparks, debris, hanging power lines. The whole scene looked like a low-budget action movie that suddenly went high budget. Troopers Booth and Killian moved in fast. They found Clark hiding in the back of the SUV, refusing to show his hands or move away from the low power lines. After multiple ignored commands, troopers broke the rear window, extracted him, and took him into custody. No dramatic final stand, no hero getaway, just a suspect out of ideas. Clark was transported for medical clearance, fingerprinted, and instantly flagged as wanted out of Benton PD. On May 2nd, 2023, a normal morning on Interstate 40 until dispatch announces a red SUV. absolutely tearing westbound at nearly 100 mph. And here's a question for you. Why do these fleeing drivers always treat the shoulder like it's their personal fast and furious lane? Because the moment this trooper spotted the red SUV, it was already blowing past cars on the shoulder like traffic laws were optional. Lights on, siren up, the chase begins. Passing off shoulder rock. >> Am I able to pit this to speed? I got a spot right here. Set 10 four. He cut me off. I wasn't able to get it just yet. It's going to be Tennessee Tags 45. Might take the stamp off. >> No, we're going to stay 40 west. Stand 40 west. Ah, come on now. Let me get it. Too much traffic. Cut him right there. We have traffic. >> But the suspect flew by so fast that identifying him was like trying to read a license plate during a tornado. Moments later, the trooper finally caught up again, and that's when the patience ran out. [music] He decided enough was enough. And this chase was ending the moment he got his opportunity. Nothing right now. Right now, roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Stand by. >> Pit. Roll over. Stand by. >> We're stopped here at JFK. >> Hands. Driver. Hands. The driver, Tiggo Culdero, wasn't just fleeing. He was a deported felon. He had an active warrant, and he somehow thought outrunning half of Arkansas was a good plan. Instead, he earned himself aggravated assault, felony fleeing, DWI drugs, plus a fresh ICE detainer waiting for him. What do you get when you mix a stolen GMC Acadia, multiple police agencies, and a driver who thinks he's invincible? A textbook example of why running from the cops never ends well. On October 6th, 2023, Trooper Matthews responded to assist Sergeant Calbertt, who was following a reported stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Mon Bib County and had already fled from the Locust Grove Police Department and Henry County Police Department earlier that day. >> Going through a parking lot coming back. >> Uh going through a parking lot coming back out onto West End. Uh 795 is going to have primary. 795 is going to have primary. 75 at this time. 80 >> coming up behind APD. Watch out. Watch out. Watch out. 75. >> Yeah, somebody else going to have to call it if they can. Uh, turning left onto some street right here. Stand by. Left on Joseph E. Lowry or I'm sorry, Ogort. Left on Oglethorp. The pursuit turned south onto Joseph Lowry Boulevard, passing marked Atlanta police units with their emergency equipment already activated. This guy had an audience and he was determined to put on a show, but police would make sure to cut that show short. Right, two street right blind curve can't do it. 1050 still going. 50. >> After Matthews deployed the second cartridge into Williams's front torso, an NMI was achieved. Williams was taken into custody. Upon closer inspection, Williams displayed multiple signs of impairment. Inside the center console of the vehicle was an open and partially full steel reserve alcoholic beverage. It was also learned that this same stolen vehicle had fled from two other agencies just prior to Sergeant Calvert spotting it. Locust Grove Police and Henry County police secured their own warrants for Williams and informed troopers that he had a local history with them for theft of autos and other crimes in their jurisdiction. So, this wasn't his first rodeo, just his worst one. On Saturday morning, May 18th, 2024, while most people were still deciding whether to make coffee or hit snooze, one driver was already creating chaos on US 165. A Sterling police officer tried stopping a vehicle, but the suspect had other plans. The kind that involved flooring it straight toward the Arkansas Louisiana state line. As troopers moved in, the chase turned into a full-blown highway disaster waiting to happen. >> Here we go. 28% coming in to Portland. Correct. Look at that. Wow. For nearly 10 miles, the trooper stayed locked behind him, waiting for that one perfect moment. No cars coming, clean stretch of road, and just enough space to end this safely. And once that opportunity appeared, he lined up for the pit and shut down a level of danger that was escalating by the second. that far outside. Here we go. TBI TV. He's off the road. Off the road over here. 165. >> The vehicle spun, left the roadway, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its side. After the dust settled, officers approached with high-risk procedures. The driver, Mr. Maris Mason, was pulled out and arrested without further incident. He wasn't injured badly, but he did receive a precautionary trip to the hospital before being booked into the Ashley County Detention Center. Ever have someone nearly run you off the road and when you flash your lights to warn them, they just keep going? Now, imagine you're a state trooper and that person just blew past you at highway speeds. On June 30th, 2022, trooper was traveling southbound on I 85 near mile marker 4 in Kaweda County when he noticed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed. The trooper hit his brakes and moved out of the path to avoid being rearended. The Elantre passed by and continued at the same reckless speed. The trooper flashed his lights as a warning to get the vehicle to slow down, but the driver disregarded the warning and kept going. Heat. Heat. suspect. >> The suspect jumped straight into oncoming traffic from the very start, instantly turning this pursuit into a rolling disaster waiting to happen. After a few minutes, he lost a tire and sparks were raining off the rim like a Fourth of July show gone wrong. That's when troopers knew the advantage had finally shifted and this was their moment to end it before things got even worse. We got to get both of heavy Clear Fox. Even with the suspect's car falling apart, the trooper held back for a moment. The road was clear, no traffic, no immediate danger. Maybe the guy would come to his senses and pull over. But the longer they followed, the clearer it became that he had zero intention of stopping. approach. He 7.1 RP. Yeah, roller. >> Trooper King executed a pit, sending the vehicle spinning and rolling multiple times. As the dust settled, the driver bailed out and sprinted into the woods. Trooper chased him down with a taser drawn, giving clear commands to stop. The suspect kept running until he finally tried to hide behind a tree, and that's where Trooper took him into custody. EMS checked him out on scene before he was cleared at the hospital and transported to the Cowa County Sheriff's Office without further incident. On Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, at approximately 8:28 a.m., trooper Blaine Middleoff was patrolling westbound on State Highway 18 towards Leechville when he spotted an SUV approaching from the west at a high rate of speed. He activated his front-facing radar and clocked it at 76 mph in a 60 mph zone. The trooper turned around and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. After activating his emergency lights, the suspect vehicle increased its speed to approximately 85 mph. So instead of pulling over and accepting a ticket, the driver decided to make things exponentially worse. CS868 blue joy for at the moment they're defining 18 1037 97 We are eastbound towards Highway 77's 140. Speeds 108 still east now. >> After the speeds went over 100 mph, the trooper realized the suspect was not here to play games. To prevent further danger, he went on to get closer and lined up for a pit maneuver. We're passing trucks and turn Give me some units. PLEASE >> STEP OUT OF THE CAR. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. >> YOU BETTER SHOW ME YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU STEP OUT OF THE CAR. YOU HEAR ME? IF I don't see anything but your hands, YOU WILL BE SHOT. MOVE OUT TO THE LEFT TO SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. YOU DON'T SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. YOU WILL BE SHOT. After the vehicle came to a stop, Proctor complained of pain in his right leg. No surprise considering his SUV just rolled multiple times. He was transported to Great River Medical Center for treatment, and later transported to the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office after being released from the hospital. Proctor was charged with felony fleeing in a vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, and multiple counts of traffic infractions. All evidence was turned into the Mississippi County evidence locker. So, what started as a simple speeding ticket turned into felony charges, a total vehicle, hospital bills, and a criminal record. All because he couldn't just pull [music] over. On February 8th, 2022, Trooper Robertson tried stopping a vehicle for simple equipment violations, but the driver had other plans. He hit the gas, fled instantly, and even tore into the oncoming lane at a high rate of speed, turning a traffic stop into a full-blown hazard for everyone on the road. I got one stop, brother. wheel. I'm at Tower Road right now. >> He's traveling the wrong way. Harrison, he's northbound and southbound lines. Let's turn down wood springs. Turn down wood springs. When the suspect got off the interstate and straight into a dead end, you'd think the chase was over. But not with this guy. He plowed through the fields like the laws of physics didn't apply to him. The trooper, instead of following him into the mud, took a different route to cut him off, only to land himself in even bigger trouble. >> Believe he's coming to our residence. Believe he's going to dead end. >> Don't let him get out of there. >> Okay, he went through a field. He's back to another road down below me. I'm not going to follow him. I'm going to try to get back down there to him. After getting stuck in the ditch, the pursuit had to be handed off. And just moments later, Trooper Valentin spotted the fleeing vehicle back on the interstate. With that, the chase reignited instantly. And this time, the suspect wasn't getting far. What's your traffic like? >> Northbound traffic's very light. Your >> speed. Speed approximately 105 clear one. >> If you will keep me informed of your location, you're not showing up on a >> not close to a city or a town of any kind. Harrison, I've hit him. He wrecked out. Rolled several times. >> After the pit, the suspect's vehicle rolled multiple times before slamming to a stop. The driver was ejected and wasn't moving. Trooper immediately rushed in, checking on him and rendering aid while EMS raced to the scene. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and later taken into custody. One thing's for sure, he learned the hard way why you never run from Arkansas's state troopers.
