I don't want to wake you up. >> You said you said she was walking down the stairs. >> Wait a minute. Let me >> If you're going to come out then I I know it's some kids from 214. >> 214. Could you check the second floor while I stay with her? see if there's any doors open where she might have been able to walk out. And if you could also check to see if uh 214 is missing her if she ended up running out the door without them knowing about it. Do you know which room you're in? >> Yeah. Which room are you in? >> Which one? >> You want to get out? >> You don't want to be warm? >> Why not? Well, here. How about you stay in here and I open up the door? >> Okay. >> Okay. You mind if I turn the heat on a little higher for you? >> Okay. Where's your jacket? You didn't want to wear it anymore? >> No. Do you mind sitting right there for me, though? Caitlyn and papa. Is this mommy or daddy's car? >> Yeah. >> This is it? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Where do you usually sit in the car? Do you sit in the front or the back? We're going back this way now. >> Here were you walking down the stairs earlier? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You've been staying upstairs or downstairs here? >> Ryan is now. >> Whose car is this? >> Is this daddy's car? >> This is >> Yeah, I guess. >> Hey, come back over here for a minute. run this too till we find a Caitlyn. I guess I got kids stuff in this one. >> And what's your name? >> Kaitlyn. >> You're Caitlyn. Do you have any brothers or sisters? >> Yeah. >> Where are they at? Are they at home or are they here with you? >> I think it's in car. >> They're in the car. >> Did you come from this building here? >> Yeah. >> Hang on. >> Deputies locate a hotel room with the door open and make contact with the parents who appear to have been asleep. >> Don't walk over there. It's dangerous. Did you cross the road? Do you remember? Do Did you cross the road? >> You did? >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Do you think mommy's black car is over there somewhere? >> Huh? >> That was away. >> They went away. >> Yeah. >> Where are you going? >> They went away. >> To your bed. >> My mommy went away. >> Stay 10:12. I'm going to go over there. I think she might be from over there. I asked her should cross the road and she kind of said yeah. So, let me go try and run some black cars over there real quick. Do you know which room is yours? >> Um, and my mom and my daddy. >> You got to go up here. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> My mom. >> Hey, are your feet getting cold? >> Yeah. >> Your feet are cold? >> Yeah. >> You want me to pick you up? >> Here. Put it in your pocket. >> Here. You got pockets right here. See? Got a pocket right there. All right. Come here. All right. Ready? >> But where do you stay in? Which room? >> I stay down here. >> You stay down here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you know if it's this side or is it the other side? >> Which side? >> Are you on this one or the other one? >> The other one? >> Mhm. >> Okay. You getting cold? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You want to go back to the car where it's warm? >> No. Oh, scary. >> It's scary. >> Yeah, >> it's not scary. Are you down this way? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. All right. Which one is yours? >> No. Look. >> Do you see your room? >> No. >> No. >> My dirt. >> Which one? >> My dad. >> This one? >> Yeah. I just >> This one's not your room. >> A mommy's not in there. >> No, mommy's not in there. [crying] >> Here. I'm going to put you down for a second. Okay. >> And then we're going to go sit in the car cuz I know that you are cold. All right. >> No. >> You just said you were cold. >> Mom, I think I warm. Were you lying? >> I'm warm right now. I warm. >> Are you warm now? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I saw your father heading that way yesterday in the afternoon when I came. I remember I seen like a family with about five kids about her going to the hotel over there walking >> and they walked over there. What's that, sweetheart? >> You think your room's over there? >> No. >> Yes. You see your room? Where is your mom? >> Okay. >> What? What? Right there. Let's take a seat. You want to meet another deputy? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> What up, man? Good morning. What's going on? >> This little one got walking down the steps over there by this gentleman. Officers inform the parents that their daughter had been across the highway for approximately 40 minutes and request identification. Hello, Sheriff's Office. Hello, Sheriff's Office. Good morning. How are you today? >> Good. Do you have a daughter? >> What's her name? >> Yeah. Well, she's she's across the street and she has been for about 40 minutes now. >> She's okay. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with you guys. What Who Who's that? Um, that's your dad. >> Okay. Can you wake him up, too? >> Hey, you good? >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. You cold? >> No. >> How did you get out? >> I got out. >> You got out? >> Yeah. >> YOU OPENED THE DOOR. >> HERE, WATCH your leg. We're going to go see mommy and daddy. Okay. >> Sheriff's office. Go ahead and wake up. >> Good morning. Did we have a late night last night? >> Sure. We got here very late. >> Yeah. And then started drinking or >> um Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Why? Why do I have to come here at 4:00 in the morning to find your daughter across the street? We've been looking for you guys for a while now. Why? Why is that? >> I don't know either. Hey, why don't you get up and come over here and talk to me? >> Which one's your car? >> Right here. >> Your daughter was able to tell us that her mom was maybe Caitlyn in a black car. We've been looking for you guys and then I come this way and your door's wide open and you guys are just passed out drunk or whatever. So, that's not the best. Deputies address safety concerns, noting the time, traffic conditions, and weather, and state that child protective services will be notified. >> Do you agree? Yeah. Why don't we get her back here, and then we'll go from there. How does that sound? >> Okay. Can I see your ID? >> All right, sweetheart. You ready? >> Yeah. >> We're going to go see your mommy. All right. >> And my daddy. >> And your daddy. You ready? >> Whoa. Big job. >> You live up here? >> Yeah. Just help. >> We were able to find mommy and daddy. Thanks for your help. All right. You ready? Put your arms up. >> Mommy and daddy, I hurry. >> Put your arms up. >> Mommy, daddy, I hurry. >> Mom, I hurry. >> Here, I'm going to take this off. Okay. >> Okay. >> You were warm now? >> Yeah. >> Did y'all lock the door last night before going to sleep? >> Do what? >> Has she ever done this before? Has she ever opened up the door and walked out before? No. Okay. How old are y'all? >> 23. >> 23. You're how old? >> Okay. It's 41° outside and your daughter is wearing a short sleeve pajama outfit with no shoes on. >> Yeah. Oh my goodness. >> That precious child that is. She is beautiful. Oh my god. and y'all decided to have some drinks last night and whatever happened and she slips out of you out like y'all understand how quick she could have been gone. You can't tell me that there's not humaning going on in this area. There's somebody out here right now that would love to snatch up a 4-year-old and never see her again. If you can't handle being a parent, don't have kids cuz you're lucky you're both not going to jail right now and we're calling for DCF to come pick up your kid. Do I make myself clear? We're going to write up a report and it's going to show that this has previously happened. I would do everything in my power to make sure that she can't get out this door. >> Okay. >> A child welfare investigator arrives, documents the living conditions, and interviews the mother about alcohol use and sleeping arrangements. Okay, >> if y'all need resources, if you need help, if you're struggling, whatever the case may be, let us know and we can get you guys some help with maybe you have a drinking problem, maybe you're just down on your luck, maybe life sucks right now, whatever. But don't let your situation funnel down to your child, okay? There's there's stuff out there to help people, but people seem like they don't want to get help when we when it's available, okay? Because it's going to end up getting y'all locked up really quick. Do I make myself clear? Okay. Are you guys living here right now? >> No. Just for the night. >> Just for the night. Where will you be tonight if we need you? >> Right here. >> Here again. >> Probably be here again. >> Yeah. I got >> Okay. I know he told you the severity of this, but it's not like she was just downstairs. She was across the street and over there and some random citizen found her. >> He was from Miami. So, if he had bad intentions, you would have never seen that child probably ever again. >> I'm going to be honest with y'all. At 4:23 this morning, I was coming through here, lights and sirens, doing 85 mph trying to get to someone else. If she came across as I'm doing 85 through here, and I hear her trying to get to someone else, >> not to mention this roadway right here. It's nothing but truckers falling asleep and everything else. >> Have y'all had DCF involved in your life? whatsoever. Nothing. >> Okay. All right, cutie. We're going to get out of here. Okay. Hey, look at me. Don't open the door. Okay. >> Oh, you're hungry. >> Y'all got money for food and everything? Okay. All right. All right, guys. Have a good day. Okay. >> I'm getting more something. >> Go ahead. >> Thanks, guys. >> Yep. >> Hey. Hey. How you doing? My name is Anthony from the departmenties and investigator. I told you I was coming. All right. >> Yeah. >> All right. How you doing? I'm just here to talk to you regarding what happened and took place incident. M coming. >> All right. Anybody else on? >> No, sir. >> If you thought I'll be coming as well. >> Yep. Yep. >> For sure. >> Pretty much what I got to do go over the allegations with you and I go over the allegations just take a picture of your room and where um the baby sleeps at and then the food and things like that. And then I >> The mother acknowledges drinking and not locking the door. Officers read writes, continue questioning, and ultimately place both parents under arrest. >> There's a couple of services and things I can provide for you. Um, what does what does he work at? >> I I think it's called Sun Solutions. Yes. He's a court. >> Oh, okay. March 23rd, 2025 at 4:30 a.m. The child was able to get out of the hotel room. She then wandered around the parking lot, across the main state highway, across five lanes, and she was found by a citizen at a neighbor motel. The child was not harmed. The family bounces from hotel to hotel. Pretty much got back bounc around from round from hotel to hotel. Does that sound accurate? Anything true or not true about >> right now? Yes. I just came back to him. Me and him have been separated. So, I just came back to him two nights before my daughter got out of the room. I usually stay with my mom in Reic, but now we're basically staying here. So, is that Reic, Jersey? Uh, what's that? Reick, Florida. Reick, Florida. arrest and put your hands behind your back. >> You want your phone and your ID with you? >> Yes, please. >> You can take your phone down there and um if correction staff allow it, they sometimes allow you to take your phone or take contacts out of your phone. Okay. So, I can tell there's no weapons on you. I'm just going to the back on your pockets. Okay. Do you have anything illegal on you? Anything like that at all? Okay. I'm just letting you know and this is the same speech I give anybody. Okay. If you introduce it into the jail, it's thirdderee felony. Okay. So, if there's anything on here in you, I need to know. >> Yes. >> No. Okay. >> You got to go through the court. So, it's not 100% completed yet. When did you guys start the court process of uh open? >> So, what does that do for y'all? >> Usually, when I get the case, I got to run through all the cars and the crims and stuff like that just to find out if there's other children or whatever else involved. >> Yeah. And you didn't find it because it's not done >> pretty much. >> So, what problems does that give to y'all? >> To us, it's that we have to locate the shot and make sure that that was really something that really happened. make sure that what she's saying is actually the truth that she really did go through the court process or whatever else cuz she didn't then that's really legal. You can't just guilt the child or whatever else. >> Was it abandonment? >> Pretty much. Yes. And then on top of that, we have to figure out where that child is and that child was sitting else. Both parents were arrested and charged in connection with child neglect after their four-year-old left the hotel room unsupervised and crossed a five-lane highway during early morning hours. Remember, securing doors and maintaining awareness are critical when supervising young children, especially in temporary lodging. Impairment can significantly reduce a caregivers's ability to respond to emergencies. This is the reaction of netzens to the situation. That could have ended very differently on a highway at that hour. Glad someone noticed and called for help. The officers handled the child gently and professionally. Think this situation was already intense. The body cam catches a split-second decision that changes everything. Comment if you saw it coming. The next incident is when police and DCF steps in. When 7-year-old arrives at school visibly harmed. >> I'm be stuck in there because I don't have nobody. >> Okay. Well, I'm trying to >> It's crazy that he would even >> On October 30th, 2024, officers responded to an elementary school after staff reported concerns about a student with visible marks. The student told school officials that his mother became upset over a missing school folder and acted aggressively toward him before he left for school, resulting in marks on his face and neck. I He didn't have no marks on >> I didn't want to call his kids in the principal's office. Apparently his mom did you can swipe left to did all that this morning before he came to school and now he's terrified to go home with her. >> What was the reasoning behind the marks? >> He just said she was angry and he said he doesn't want to go home with her because she's going to be angry. Why was she angry? I >> don't know. This is what I got. >> Did he write a And this was told by the counselor. >> Yeah, he's in there now talking to the counselor. This is her coming up. >> Who's her? The counselor. >> Yeah. >> Hi. How are you? >> Good. Good. >> What did this little boy tell you? What happened >> uh this morning? His mom told him he needed to find his red folder. So, the red folders are what elementary kids have that you put different things in to go home and to come back to school. The counselor describes marks on the child's face and neck and states that he appeared fearful about returning home. >> He couldn't find it. She said if he didn't find it that she was going to he she was going to beat him up. Those were his words. And he didn't. And she punched him in the face. >> What about all these um >> on the neck? >> Yeah. He did. >> Cuz I asked him if his mama has long nails. >> Mhm. >> He said he didn't think she did. She and >> have long nails. >> Oh, cuz there's this line that's going straight here and it looks like it dug into the skin and it or it separated the skin. >> So, um, he said it felt like he was bleeding there, but he didn't know why. >> Have you all called Devax? >> Mhm. First thing this morning after 10 >> staff confirms child protective services were contacted. They note the student had been out of school for an extended period earlier in the year. something I call and I was thinking about even faxing it right now since I haven't heard a response to make sure >> what's the defect >> report? Yes, sir. >> He says that's his godmother. >> That's what he's that's who they're living with right now. >> Yeah, that's the mom and that's who they're staying with and he calls her the godmother and he seems like he's legit here to go home. So, >> you've actually seen him and everything. >> Yeah, he's in the principal's office sitting down. He's okay right now, but you can tell he's shaking up. Is there any anybody else that can pick up the kid? >> Is there anybody? >> I know she's on the pick up, but since she lives with her, I don't really >> Yeah, it's probably going to be with >> can come pick him up. Grandmother, >> uncle. >> What about dad? >> Dad is in Atlanta. >> He told me grandmother and cuz they were in Atlanta before they when he should have been in school. He was in Atlanta not going to school. >> Is he just That's another thing. He just on the 20th 22nd. >> He's been out of school. >> He's been out from August. >> How did you even found Did he come up and wanted to say something? >> The kids the kids saw it on his face and they reported it to the teacher and they were like he has stuff on his face. They thought they were saying calling this his stomach. >> The principal explains that other students noticed the marks and alerted a teacher. The child reported that the incident occurred shortly before boarding the bus. >> So the teacher looked and she didn't see anything according teacher, but when I came to pick them up for a lesson, it just like it had just happened. They reported it to her and she told me and when he walked by and I saw him, I was like, "This not right." >> Mhm. >> So I walked into my office and I called him out because he looked like he was in pain. I and I asked him outside my door what had happened. and he said my mom had done it. So I had someone cover my cost while I took a report from him. >> Um he must get to the clinic to do that and then I follow the tax. >> Okay. And then this was all because he didn't have a >> So the mom was upset because he didn't have his red folder that usually is is taken >> you need to take to school. >> Do we know where the red I mean I know it's beside the point but do we know where the red >> I saw him come with a red folder this morning. So some some >> so it must have been something that where he didn't find it at home and she was like where is it cuz you need to have it for school >> and it's not a big deal anyway but not anything more than that >> you know >> he said where did this happen >> at home >> he said just before the bus came. >> Okay cuz the bus picks goes and picks them up over >> staff describes another child from the same household who denied seeing anything unusual that morning. And it's him and the other student that's here whose mom is his godmother. They were on the same bus. >> So there's another >> there's a kid here who's not related to him at all. They live >> in the same house. >> Uhhuh. But live in the same house >> and they all went to the bus onto the bus together. >> And the girl went on the bus together. And that's the student who I was telling fifth grade student. I asked her >> did you Oh. And did you ask her? >> I asked her. I said, "Did anything happen this morning we need to know about? She was moving around like this and I had to tell her to stop moving. look me in the face and just give me an answer. And anything, "Oh, no, no, no, no, no." I said, "Are you sure?" Cuz when you see her, if if y'all ever decide to talk to her, you'll see this. She's just moving like this. And just tell her to look at me. And she never really gave me much eye contact. And then she said, "Nothing happened." I said, "You sure nothing happened?" "Did anything happen last night?" >> And so she said, "No, no." So I said, "Well, tell me what is how does it work in your house? Do y'all share the whole does everyone live in the same room? How many rooms do you have? She said three bedrooms. And she said that his family lives in one of the bedrooms and they take turns cooking in the kitchen. So I don't know if this happened inside the room and she wasn't aware of it. So what about him? >> Officers make contact with the mother at the residence and advise her of her rights before questioning. >> Getting home. [bell] Well, I I think they're working on defects. Trying to get him to come over trying to get over here as quickly as possible. >> OKAY. >> HI. Are you Miss Hammond? >> Yes. >> Can I talk to you out here, please? >> Are you the only one here, ma'am? >> Okay. Like other like other adults are here? >> Yes. >> All right. I need to read you something and then we're going to see if you willing to talk to me or not. Okay. Prior to question and effort to obtain statements, you must uh I have to give you these warnings. Okay? You have the right to remain in silent. Anything you say or do can be used against you in court. Are you willing to talk to me about what happened this morning? >> I don't know what happened this morning. >> What do you mean you don't know what happened this morning? I'm asking let me before we get into asking you all that. Okay. Are you willing to tell me about what happened this morning? >> Oh, yes. >> Okay. You're saying you don't. >> The mother denies causing the marks, acknowledges discussing the missing folder, and suggests the child may have been injured during play. >> Know what happened this morning? Okay. Well, what about the incident between you and your son? >> Nothing happened. >> Okay. Why does he have marks on him then? >> I don't know. >> Okay. You What do you mean you don't know? >> I don't know. When I when I woke him up this morning, I got him dressed and he went out the door. >> Okay. Was there an argument between you and his red folder? >> I asked him where it was. Yes. >> Okay. So, now we're getting somewhere. Yes. Okay. So, what happened in between that and him not able to find his red folder? >> I kept telling him to look for it. And if he if he can't find it, he would go to school without it. That's what I told him. >> Okay. Well, how did he end up getting those marks on his neck and uh over on his eyes? >> I don't I He didn't have no marks when I didn't touch this boy. Everybody was in here this morning. >> Ma'am, why is he telling Why is he telling the counselor they >> I don't know, >> ma'am. It's not I don't know. >> This is crazy. >> It's not crazy. >> It is because my kids in there right now touch my kids. >> Ma'am, why why why would he say that to the >> I don't know. Like he didn't have no marks on him or nothing when he left. I told him to go out the door. He can't find his folder, but I wind up finding it before he left out the door. So I told his god, sister, hand him his folder. Hand his >> Well, then let me ask you this. How would he just show up show up to school with those marks then? >> I don't know. I don't know. Him and his brother play, fight, fight all day long. They throw toys at each other. They do all types of stuff. I don't know. One time he had a mark on him. I couldn't even explain it cuz I didn't know. >> But why would he just say mom that did it then? >> I don't know. Like I don't know. I don't even touch my kids. None of them. >> Okay. You >> And I have four. Well, one is right now is in this situation, but I have three with me. Okay. >> After further questioning, officers informed the mother that she is under arrest based on the child's statements and observed injuries. >> You got anything else that you you want to tell me about this morning? >> No, cuz I This is confusing to me. >> It's not confusing. I'm giving you I'm giving you straight questions. >> It is because I my my son didn't have no marks on him before he left. >> He didn't have nothing wrong with him. I did not touch him. All I said was look for your phone. You couldn't find his folder. I said, "Well, you're going to fold." >> How am I interrupting? You ask me a question. >> You're asking me questions and I'm trying to explain to you what all happened this morning. >> And I'm explaining to you what your son told the counselor this morning. Why would he say that? >> I don't know. It was people in the house with me. It's plenty of people in the house with me every day. >> Crazy. >> You got anything else you want to tell me? >> I don't know what to say. Like, I told you what happened. >> Okay. All right. Go ahead and turn around. Put your hands behind your back. being under arrest. >> Can I let her know because she >> officers allow her to retrieve her shoes and belongings, notify another adult in the home, and arrange for a court appearance. I >> don't got nobody, so I know I'm not out of nowhere. >> Okay. Um I'm going to make your court. >> Let me search you real quick. Sorry. >> I'm going to go ahead and make your court date for tomorrow. 9:00. Well, can you not make some phone calls? >> Homeless and everything. >> Can you not make some phone calls? >> No, I don't know. I don't have nobody. Okay. >> It's just me, her, and the my kids. That's it. >> Okay. Well, I don't know who who >> This is crazy, >> ma'am. I'm trying to help you out. Okay. >> I'm going be stuck in there because I don't have nobody. >> Okay. Well, I'm trying to let >> This is crazy that he would even say that. >> Are you going to let me talk? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm trying to let whoever the adult is in there to let let them know of what's going on so that way we can figure out with with you and everything. Okay. But I have enough to have to take you downtown right now. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Where? I can't I can't win for nothing. Anyway, >> what what shoes do you have that we can't put on your >> slippers, I guess. >> Okay. Where are they located at? >> In the living room. >> In the living room. Okay. I'm not sure if if you heard any kind of commotion between her and her son this morning >> from her son. >> Yes. >> What happened? >> Well, he's got marks on him. Okay. He's telling everybody he's telling the counsel I figure he's tell he's telling the counselor and he's very fearful to come back home because mom ended up putting scrap like I mean there's a good mark on him where there's bleeding to where he does not want to come back home with mama >> and it's involving a red folder in which she's telling me it was involved in a red folder and then she don't want to tell me whether or not that she did something or not so but I already have enough anyways. Everything seemed fine this morning. >> Well, I guess it wasn't. I don't want her to be in jail, but I have to I have to do I have to I have to do what I have to do, unfortunately. But I'm trying to give her a chance. I'm trying to help her out with some things. I don't hear none of them. You can look at all of them. None of them have marks. >> If for some reason you don't bond out today and after you make phone calls, >> the mother was placed under arrest in connection with allegations of physical harm after her child reported she struck him and officers observed visible marks consistent with his statement. Remember, schools play a key role in identifying and reporting visible injuries or behavioral changes in students. Clear communication and prompt reporting help ensure concerns are evaluated by the appropriate authorities. This is the reaction of nizens to the situation. Glad the school staff took the situation seriously. The officers stayed calm and asked direct questions. Important reminder that schools are often the first to notice something is wrong. You think the officers were out of options here. Watch what happens next on the body cam and tell us if you would have done the same. The next incident is when parents full-on face plant 10year-old over candy and call it discipline. >> If he was doing throwing rocks on the street, well, how would you handle that? He would be on the face planting on the ground. Absolutely not. >> You're mad at me because >> on November 3rd, 2024, officers responded to a residence [music] after reports that a father was getting physical with his minor son. The incident stemmed from the child having a behavioral outburst during [music] which witnesses reported the child was held down and physically abusive, resulting in visible bruising and scratches. Now you're me. You're you're mad at me because I called you a wife eater. >> Sheriff's office. >> I'm at the front door. >> Okay. What's going on? >> Our kid is having a having a breakdown. >> OKAY. >> OKAY. He ru He was outside the car at the house. >> So is it us getting him back in the house? Apparently, dad held him down and was beating out of him. We get here, dad. >> An officer attempts to identify the reporting party and gathers preliminary statements. Parents state the child has ongoing behavioral issues. Officers notes conflicting information about what occurred. does have them down on the ground in the living room. Dad's pouring sweat. Mom and dad and somebody else in this house advised that child has behavioral issues was out here throwing rock. However, I'm trying to find the RP. I'm assuming it's a neighbor to find out exactly what they saw. Nobody want to talk to the popo today. I have a feeling somebody in here called and they're not. They're afraid to say they did call cuz I swear the note said they' call or advice. She's they're beating her brother. The officer requests the child be brought outside for medical evaluation. >> Unruly multiple times. They said we've been here before him multiple times. Okay. >> He's been unruly all day because according to >> according to Candy, that's what the parents said. He wanted candy and he's been acting out the entire day like this. >> The problem is I don't know if I can talk to her alone because she's a minor. Okay. Hey, listen. and I have to ask you some very important questions and I need you to tell me the truth without being afraid. Mom and dad are not with you right now. They're over here and I just got off the phone with your friend. Okay? And I need to know the truth. >> I need you to go get that kid and bring him out for Lopez. He needs to come out to my car right now. These kids are probably going to get JR6 out of here. >> Okay. >> Okay. Cuz there's a lot more going on here. >> Yeah. >> Mom showed me video footage. Officers reassure the children and arrange for EMS to assess the child in private. The child reports wrist pain and is placed in a patrol vehicle temporarily while awaiting medical personnel. >> Mhm. >> I don't care what that video footage shows. >> Okay. >> Get him and bring him out here. We have to check him out. Here, here's what's going on. Okay. Are you okay? All right. You're going to be okay. All right. Just take a He's going to be okay. Here's why. I'm gonna take him out right now and have an ambulance coming. I want them to look at him in private. And I also, if you're okay, can they just look at you and talk to you for a minute? Okay, listen to me. I don't want you to be afraid. Okay, that's no way to live. It's going to be okay. I'm going to do my job today to make sure that you're okay. You understand that? Okay, just take a breath. You're fine. Your brother's going to be okay. >> Hey, young man, can you come over here, please? I want you to stand right here. How you doing? Here, look at me. Turn towards me here. Go ahead. Stand right here by your sister. Okay. How you doing? You okay? Not doing good. Are you do you have some injuries? Your wrist hurts. So your sister's worried about you. Okay. >> You want to sit in here with your sister? Are you able to scoot over for him or do you want me I can actually I can bring him to that side. Okay. Just have seat right in there for a minute. >> So as soon as they get here, you're going to go in the back of an ambulance. You're not leaving. The mother challenges the officer's concerns and disputes the allegations. Officers explain they must conduct a full investigation due to multiple statements received. >> Your sister will go with you and they're just going to check you out and ask you about your All right, hang in there. You guys just hang here. I'll leave this door open for a moment. Okay. >> I need the lady here. She's the one who's come here who set him straight cuz this is ridiculous. This is ridiculous. You looked at him. He's There's nothing wrong with him. >> Well, the the issue is not about that. The issue is about when I'm hearing from multiple That's what I have a problem with. >> Okay. Well, that's not what I'm hearing. So, I have to do my investigation. Okay. I have a job to do. Okay. I have a due diligence to make sure the children are okay. >> Children, though, right? >> What's that? >> You're hearing it all from children. >> Doesn't matter. >> It It kind of does. It does not matter because the older child that you're hearing it from, has she said that she's gotten hit? >> Did I say that's who I'm hearing it from? Have you has she? But you're you're saying it from someone that didn't live here. No, either. >> Well, if you're saying >> it's either the person who talks to us, we're done with the mother becomes increasingly argumentative and confrontational with officers. [snorts] After repeated warnings to step back and go inside, she continues engaging verbally >> or and we are done. you like the other guy who was here before are making these problems thousands of his parents. >> It's okay if that's how you feel that's fine. I have a job to do and it's to make sure >> that cash in the back of his car from rocks that >> but you're also but you're >> doesn't it doesn't if he's capable of doing that type of >> do you not understand the capabilities of him doing other stuff >> what I don't understand is there's a way to handle it and not a way to handle it. Okay. What's your plan? If he was doing throwing rocks on the street, well, how would you handle that? He would be on the face plant and on the ground. >> Absolutely not. >> Shut. >> Okay. Why don't you go inside before you get arrested? Okay. Why don't you go inside before you get arrested? >> Sir, you should take her in before she ends up getting hooked up. Officers arrest the mother for disorderly conduct after determining her behavior is escalating and disruptive during the investigation. >> I'm going to charge you with disorderly conduct. Get the right. >> All right. She's getting hooked for doc. >> What? >> I'm going to hook her. Yes, there is 100%. >> Doc all day, dude. That's doc. I'm not playing this. If your kid threw rocks, you'd face plant them on the ground. Absolutely no, I wouldn't. >> Child protective services are contacted. Arrangements are made for the children to stay with their grandmother. Officers inform both parents they are being arrested for domestic violence and child abuse based [music] on statements gathered during the investigation. >> Absolutely not. Disagree 100%. I got four kids. never face planted any of them on the ground. >> Hello. >> Hey, how's it going, sir? >> Pretty good. >> Thanks for coming out. Here's what's going on. Um, mom is very I rape, by the way. She's out here calling us names, being very aggressive and violent outside. I told her husband to take her in before she goes to jail, which between you and me, they're both going to jail as soon as you leave with the kids. >> Okay. >> Grandma's in route. She's about 30 minutes out. She's willing to work with you to bring them up to Cleveland. Yeah, she's got a little apartment there. It's a little small, but she said, "I'll make it work for them." Okay. And that's going to be biological mom's mother. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, we >> we should tell her to stay at home and we can just run her information and I can bring the kids up to her. >> I could do that. Do you want me to call her in? This nice gentleman here is going to make sure you guys safely get there. That way, she doesn't have to drive down. Okay. >> He's probably >> Yeah. Hi. My name's Mr. Whis. >> Oh, here. Let me get let you in. I'm >> sorry. I didn't mean >> Oh, you're okay. My issue is I have to do my due diligence because him and her both have a cooperating story. They were separated. >> Yeah. They were seen medically like some medical >> an EMS came here. They said if you want them to come back to the hospital that's fine. >> As long as they were checked. >> Yeah. They they were checked and cleared by Twinsburg EMS paramedics. Okay. So, we did that. He said a couple little minor bruises on the arm there and some scratches, you know, things of that nature. Where did that go? >> Giving him what he wanted. This is what I was trying to avoid with all of y'all. >> I could I'm not signing nothing and not saying nothing. If y'all can do whatever y'all want to y >> Okay, we don't need child. You're my [ __ ] You [ __ ] >> All right, go ahead and hook her up. Let's just hook her up now. >> We're going to just hook her now, >> ma'am. >> She You Okay. >> No. >> Okay. Go ahead. Do me a favor. Turn around. Put your hands behind her. Don't Don't resist. I'm not resist. Don't resist. >> Don't resist. >> All right. Grab do grab her, please. Come here, man. >> For what? >> What exactly? >> No, I want you to explain. >> You did exactly what the he wanted y'all to do. >> You want to grab >> and I'm I want badge numbers. >> I want every last badge number. I'm going to call my lawyer and I'm everyone. >> What does that say about being charged with? >> You guys are both being arrested for domestic violence and child abuse right now. Okay. >> For what? Both parents were arrested on domestic violence and child abuse charges. These charges were applied following the officer's investigation, which included witness statements and visible minor injuries such as bruises and scratches. Remember, when officers respond to domestic related calls, they are required to separate parties [music] and verify the safety of everyone involved. Escalating verbal confrontations during an active investigation can lead to additional charges. This is the reaction of netzens to this situation. Separating everyone and checking the kids medically seems like standard procedure. Arguing with officers during an investigation rarely helps the situation. Glad the kids had a family member available to take them. The tension is already high. Or so it seems. What the body cam captures next saves [music] a life pause and comment what you do here. The next incident is when police rescue toddler left alone in hotel by irresponsible mother. Why did you leave her alone just now? >> Cuz I was just going across the street to get food. >> Why didn't you take her with you? >> Cuz she was asleep. >> She's one year old. Can a one-year-old take care of themselves in a room? >> On June 16th, 2024 officers responded to a call about a mother leaving her one-year-old alone in a hotel room. The staff saw her check in with the child, but when she left, there was no child with her. When the officers arrived, the woman was talking back to them and acting like it was no big deal. Can a one-year-old take care of themselves in a room, man. >> Hello. >> Open the door now. That's the moment. She just pulled back up. >> Okay. Uh, where's the kid? >> Is somebody with him? >> No. >> Okay. Can you show me where it is? >> Excuse me, ma'am. Excuse me. Yes. >> Can you talk to me for a second? >> I know exactly what it's about. I go get food. >> So, hold on. What's going on? >> What do you know? >> Okay. You said you know what's going on, right? You just told me that. So, what's going on? >> Because up there, I literally want to go get food. I WORK 12 HOURS a day. I told you that the car outside. >> Officers repeatedly ask who was watching the infant and whether anyone else was in the room. The mother remains defensive and gives varying details about timing. >> Ma'am, come here. Ma'am, >> come here. Come here. >> Come here. This isn't a police matter now. >> Okay. And you doing this is not helping you out. Okay. >> We're trying to talk to you, but unless you talk to us, you're going to push it one way. All right. Where's the baby at right now? >> All right. Let's go. Let's go. Yeah. Officers clarify the timeline. The mother said she left the property to obtain food while the infant slept and was away from the room for an extended period. >> Anybody else in here? Walk up. Put your stuff down and walk upside down. She was fine. >> Everything was fine with her. Everything is not fine with the woman downstairs. >> Okay. >> You have to pull it to the left a little to shut it. >> Hold on. Is your address current on this or is this where you stay? >> This is where I stay for right now until the 19th. I don't know. >> Harley. >> Yes. >> Okay. Harley, [clears throat] you said you know why we're here. What happened today? I went to work. >> Where do you work at? >> I work at Culver's. >> Okay. When did you go to work? >> 6:00. >> Okay. >> I left around like maybe 5:45. >> Okay. >> I went to work. >> Okay. Well, then >> what >> what happened then? >> I worked until about I think it was 1. 12. 12 or 1. One of them. No. 12ish. >> Deputies explain Florida statute concerns and emphasize the difference between being in the same residence and leaving the property. They advise that this meets neglect criteria. >> Um came in took like an hour nap and I went and picked her up. Went to Fallen Creek. came here, laid her down. No, gave her a bath, laid her down for a nap, and went to go get food. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Okay. That's who's in the room right now? >> Yes. >> Who was watching her right now? Why did you leave her alone just now? >> Cuz I was just going across the street to get food. >> Why didn't you take her with you? >> Cuz she was asleep. >> So So you think >> I wake up at 1:00 a.m. in the morning. Okay. >> I think your your your negligence >> first of all, do you know what the Florida state statute is for child neglect? Because this absolutely meets the requirements for it >> under me. >> No, we're we're talking about Florida State statute >> and the safety of this apartment comp or hotel complex, whatever. >> So, I I don't think you're understanding though. We're not talking about somebody intervening as a medical emergency. somebody to go, hey, something's wrong. Who is going to respond and go, hey, we need to do something about this? >> So, what's the difference of being in a house and her being in a different room? What's the difference in that? >> You are in the house with her. She's under your supervision. >> So, the matter of the fact is she was alone. >> No, come back. >> Okay. You don't want you think this is good. >> Hey Siri. >> Patrick, hang up. Hey Siri, >> you got anything on you? >> No. >> No weapons on you? Nothing like that? >> No. >> Okay. We're not playing these [ __ ] games with >> Hey Siri, >> you understand me? >> All right. Officers placed the mother in handcuffs for detention after determining the infant was left unattended and the mother left the property. Officers attempt to contact Next of Kin and other caregivers. >> Call UCI. Calli. >> All right. Okay. So, >> hey Siri. >> Hey, that that's enough of that. You understand? We're trying to figure something out. You are being difficult with us right now. How old? >> She's one year old. Can a one-year-old take care of themselves in a room alone? So, we placed her in restraints because this is a criminal act. Okay? Just like you were trying to be smart. Be like, "Oh, what's the difference between this and that?" Because you're going to go to jail. Okay? That's the difference. All right? You want to act smart. You want to be smart about it. That's fine. We're not here to play games with you. Okay. 54 for now, but if you want to be 51. >> Okay. Okay. What's your mom's name? >> But your number is Johnson. >> Do you know her phone number? >> Yes, sir. 87 81. >> Where does she live? >> She live in Lake City. >> Okay. >> Does she have a way to come over here? >> Okay. Do >> you have any other family members here? Anybody could take the baby to mom? No. >> Is there a way that mom could get here? No. Like asking a friend, asking someone to come over here. What's your What's your address? [snorts] I'm five points. >> What's the address? E4. >> So, so going back to your question, do you know the difference now between leaving a baby in a house and leaving a baby here? Yes or no? >> Okay. I hope you understood that and I hope you answered. Deputies discuss potential next steps and document that the infant had been alone for about an hour. >> Your own question, okay? You just want >> and take off. Ain't no difference when you can't hear the baby in the house. You can articulate that, but you just left. You're not in the freaking kitchen. You're not in the freaking lobby. You left the property. [snorts] Does that answer your freaking question? Cuz that was the dumb analogy I ever heard in my life. It's the difference between a baby in the other room while you're in the kitchen. You can't hear. Are you serious? >> Please don't send me to jail. >> So, the reason why I detained you is because I needed to show you the difference between you leaving a baby here while you're in the kitchen. Yes, sir. >> All right. Do you understand the difference now? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. That's a crime in the state of Florida. You cannot do that to them. Call for help if they need it. Okay. Yes, sir. >> That's the difference. I'm not playing no games with you because that little attitude that you got, I'm not going to reciprocate that. Do you see how take your work? >> I can get her dad to come get her, please. >> Well, now you can get Okay, get somebody. >> I need my phone. >> You know his number? >> He's not going to He can't answer his phone. >> Where does he live? >> He lives in Jacksonville, but he works in Okay, we're going to wait for a sergeant to get here. We're going to explain to her the situation, explain to her what's going on. Okay, the reason why you're detained right now, you're not under arrest for the reason why we had the patient detainment. Okay? The reason why we're here is not because we just chose 225 nights in for no reason. We're here for a call for service about a baby being left here alone. You confirm that by opening >> officers confirm the infant's condition, coordinate possible family pickup, and explain detention rationale to the mother. >> In the door, you let us in. The baby was indeed by herself. Okay. You thought it was okay to do that and you wanted to know the difference about leaving the baby in the room while someone's in the kitchen. This is the difference. Don't you get placed in handcuffs because this is not the same analogy you gave me. Do you understand that? Do we have a clear understanding that you are breaking a Florida statute of law? You are indeed you just committed a crime. Do you understand that? Which is what? Child what? What you said you weren't that you were not child neglect. Okay. That's what That's what you are. That's what we just did right now. Okay. That's what you just did. We're not just making this up. That's what you just did. [snorts] You know, Q's on the way. >> Yeah, she's on the way. >> Yeah. >> Where baby at? >> She's fine. She's sleeping. Please don't wake up. So explained to her, you can't just go out, get something to eat, leave the baby here without supervision, and come back. She [snorts] gave me the example of what's the difference between the baby being in another room while I'm in the kitchen. So, I detained her. That's the difference. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I had to. >> Yeah. >> And then she tried. She resisted a little bit, but we're going to wait till Sergeant gets here. Kind of explain to her the basis of it. Mom don't have access. >> Hotel staff informs officers that the child was alone for approximately 1 hour. [snorts] Officers confirm arrangements for the child's care and discuss that the mother will be transported to jail. >> There's five points, which is not hard to try to get access to get over here if there's a mean. There's a way. In worst case, we'll just transport the child back to the station and then have a family member come pick. >> Is she tough as >> she's? Okay. What we got? What you want to do? >> Who Who's this? >> So, I'm going to see if I can make 1025 with mom cuz mom was taking care of her before. Mom's in 5 to >> I'm going to go do that. See if I can contact mom. If I can't get nothing from mom, we'll go to the next step. >> She's probably asleep. You got >> I got I got all the forks here with me. I just going to go downstairs to do it. >> Okay. Yeah. >> You sure everything that in the statement is the truth? The whole truth? >> Yes, I do. >> Just hear from me, please. All right. What's your question? >> Okay. So, where are you going to take it or do you have to call to get it towed or is your family coming to get it or >> what would you call the vehicle? >> Is she getting arrested or Heat. Heat. Hey, was charged with child endangerment under Florida law after officers confirmed she left her one-year-old alone in a hotel room and exited the property for approximately 1 hour. Remember, leaving a very young child unattended in a public lodging setting can result in criminal charges. If unsure about supervision standards, it is safer to arrange child care or take the child with you. This is the reaction of netizens to this situation. I didn't realize leaving a hotel room counted differently than being inside a house. Glad staff noticed and made the call. This shows how quickly a short trip can turn into a legal issue. Everyone thought it was too late until the body cam shows the exact second officer step in. Did you predict that rescue? The next incident is when toxic mom demands boyfriend's arrest. Camera exposes her lies. >> Mying kid. I tried to get a phone out of his hand because he's recording me trying to get a reaction out of me. Call me a dumb. Call me a [ __ ] Call me a bunch of names. >> On June 22nd, 20125, officers responded to a domestic dispute involving a 4-month-old child. He literally provokes me and provokes me until I freak the out. >> Is the baby okay? >> Yeah, the baby's fine. I don't want him near me. I don't want him near my kid. >> Patrol car. All right, >> just Hey, relax. >> No, it's not okay. I can't relax because of him. >> Don't look over there. >> He's trying to take my kid. >> Hey, [cough] down right now. Okay. >> Because I have anxiety. I have major anxiety. >> Medics to come check you out. >> No, I just have major anxiety and he knows that. So, he worked me up to that point. We need to We need to relax. [laughter] We need to relax. >> He's trying to take my kid. >> I understand, but I need to figure out what's going on right now. >> What's going on? Is that I want him out of my house. >> Does he live there with me? >> Yes. He I just moved him in. He has no address, nothing, nothing coming here. >> Okay. Is this his child? Yes. >> Do you guys have it in common? >> No, we don't have anything in writing. Nothing. >> No, no, no, no, no. I'm saying so this is his and your child, right? Okay. How old is the child? >> He's four months old today. >> Okay. What all started this? >> Him screaming at me this morning. him screaming at me because he told me to wake him up at 2:30. >> Normal voice. I can't help you >> because he's trying to take him away from me. >> I can't help you if you're going to be up here. We got to bring it down here. Okay. >> I have medicine in my house. >> I'm here to help you. Okay. I want to >> No, I feel like you guys are just taking inside. You guys are just going to take inside. >> That's how it feels though. You guys think I'm the one that's doing everything and he's trying to take my kid. >> At any point did he take >> No. No. I tried to get a phone out of his hand. Officers instruct her to lower her voice while holding the baby and continue gathering details about how the physical contact occurred >> because he's recording me trying to get a reaction out of me. >> Okay. Did you hit him? >> Yes, I pushed him and slapped the phone out of his hand. >> You pushed him? >> Yes. >> Because he doesn't get to get in my face and scream like that. >> I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to get the full story, but you got to explain to me from start to finish. >> From start, I tried to wake him up at 2:30. He started screaming at me because his tooth hurts and from then on it just kept going. He kept telling me he wanted space but then would mumble it under his breath. Call me a Call me a Call me a bunch of names. So it makes me mad. He doesn't get to walk around doing that. >> So at what point did it become what made it ask? >> Because he sits there like this. So we ended up having a 3-month break and I thought like that 3-month break was going to be good >> and we got back together and this week has just been the worst it's ever been. Like she's laid hands on me 2 or 3 days ago. It was it was like 3:00 at night. I'm surprised no one called the cops. But 3 days ago, she laid hands on me. And then today was the the second time. >> How did she lay hands on you 3 days ago? >> The same way. We were just arguing and she got up in my space and I was like, "Haley, like my god." Like, you know, say same kind of same kind of thing, but he was in the room. I don't know. Every time like when she starts screaming and yelling and I try to like take my kid to a different room, she's always like, "Don't take my kid. She has bruises on her arm >> cuz initially she's saying that he didn't touch her, right? >> And so now I just got the warrant. >> Yeah. What I would do is talk to her about that so you can add it to the report. Ask her photos of the bruises and then say, "Can you hand the baby to my partner so I can take pictures and then you can hook her up?" >> Okay, we'll do. So, let's talk about 3 days ago. Okay. >> Mhm. >> When he hit me, when he pinned me down. >> Yeah. Make some cool pulled me back. >> Well, he's trying to get me in trouble. I know. >> He's trying to get me in trouble. He provokes me to that point. And this is literally from him. Which one? >> It's across my wrist right here, holding me down here. >> Okay, let's start at what day exactly was it? Do you remember? >> No, just 3 days ago. About 3 days ago, he started another argument. >> So, the 19th. >> Okay. >> Another argument, screaming. He starts telling me it's my fault, calling me a dumb, calling me stupid, screaming at me, and then he's like getting on top of me cuz I told him I had I wanted space. >> Where were you when my bedroom? >> So, was on the bed. >> Said I want space. Give me space. And then he doesn't give me space. And I start having a panic attack. And I'm screaming. I'm freaking out. And then after he grabbed your wrist, he's yelling at you in the face. >> In my face. >> Okay. And then is that >> pretty much it? And then I get off him cuz I'm kicking like this swing like moving my body around cuz he's not going to pin me down like that. >> Okay. >> And then I got up and we started screaming at each other more. >> And that's it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> But the thing is difference between me and him is I don't record him doing that to me. >> Yeah. >> All right. So right now you are under arrest. There is a warrant for your arrest. Okay. Just relax. >> A judge issued a warrant for domestic violence in the police. >> That's literally him. That's literally him. Are you serious? That's literally him. That's why I don't call the cops. Are you serious? Relax. No. You're taking MY KID. >> RELAX. RELAX. RELAX. >> NO, DUDE. Calm down. >> No, that's not fair. That's up. >> Have you stand? >> Officers clarify the arrest is based on the warrant and observed evidence. The boyfriend denies pinning her down and states he restrained her arms only to stop her from harming herself. >> Hi, here real quick. I'm going to go interview. So, right now the judge issued a warrant for her arrest. Okay. in the presence of a child. Okay. Since your child was on the balcony and could hear it, but she did make a statement saying three days ago that you pinned her down on the bed. Could you just can we just go over that situation real quick? >> No, I never did that. >> So, do you know anything about >> I I never pinned her down. 3 days ago, what happened is we got into an argument and she got really heated and she started hitting herself. Started punching herself. She started She has a comb missing out of her hair. She started scratching herself. She was hitting her. She's grabbing the wall and hitting her head against the headboard. And >> I was like, "Haley, stop." I did grab her arms cuz like she was hurt hurting herself. And I was like, you know, >> where where was this happening in the apartment? >> She's in the bedroom. And then as soon as soon as I grabbed her arm, she started screaming and I let go. I was like, "All right, I'm not going to help you." And if she's saying stuff about her wrist, that's because, you know, in the bed like we do like tie up stuff, you know. >> Okay. So, if she had >> if she had bruises on her wrist, it'd be from like >> related stuff. Like if she has like bruises right there or on her ankles like that, that's related to sit in the car with >> But like all the other scratches and bruises, she she beats herself. She like hurts herself and she gets really mad. She has club misting out of her hair on this side and this side. And I just trying to help her, but like I can't help her. She's like screaming at the top of her lungs and hurting herself. Like at that point, I just get my son to go to a different room or the balcony or wherever. >> Okay. So like I said, that's kind of what's going on. Okay. Officers provide the boyfriend with a domestic violence resource packet and confirm he can care for the infant. >> He's going to be transported to the Ada County Jail. I'm going to provide you with the domestic violence packet and anything. Do you need any like anyone to come out and talk to you about what happened today? Like any like >> No, no, I don't need that. But I take the packet and >> Okay. Well, the packet's going to have a bunch of stuff on it. It's going to have a bunch of resources for you. Okay. But, let me grab that packet for you. Okay. He literally >> cuz he told me today he didn't hit you. He >> didn't hit me today. >> And I'm going to document that in my report. >> He literally he literally let my kid fall off the couch the other day. So I thought he has in his trunk right now. He has in his trunk right now. Can you guys get my kid to that? Listen, I'm I what you told me about what him holding me down on the bed. I'm >> The woman was arrested on a judge issued warrant for domestic violence in the presence of a child. The charge was based on prior reported incidents, video evidence showing her striking the man, visible marks on him, and statements confirming physical contact occurred while their infant was present in the residence. Remember, physical contact during domestic disputes can result in mandatory arrest, especially when a child is present. Recording and reporting incidents can significantly influence how officers assess probable cause. This is the reaction of netzens to this situation. The video evidence clearly played a big role here. This situation escalated quickly with a baby nearby. Domestic cases are complicated, especially when both sides make accusations. [music] You think this call can't get worse? The body cam captures the exact second officer's rushin comment. If you felt that spike, the next incident is when man wanted to go home after kicking cars goes to jail instead. >> COME BACK HERE AND STOP. >> I'M NOT DOING NOTHING, >> MAN. I want to go home, man. He acknowledges yelling but denies ongoing wrongdoing. >> What are you doing? I'm not doing nothing. >> You're minding your business. That's why you're kicking cars and knocking over your garbage cans, >> bro. He was talking He was talking out of his mouth. >> What? What's going on, >> man? I want to go home, man. The owner reports that after police initially left, Lar Ro knocked over bottles and remained in the area, prompting another call. >> But he but he did swing at him. Okay, bugger. And then when my kitchen guy came in, had them come in, he was trying to get tough on my kitchen guy. That's when I called you guys. But I was talking to him through the window because my kitchen guys don't speak English. So I was like, "What's the problem?" He's like, "Yo, open the door." And he started doing this with the door. How come nobody asked him to take his mask off? >> There's no reason to. >> Okay. >> I mean, if I I would like to see his face. >> If he hasn't committed a crime, we have no reason to ask him to show his >> The only reason I would like to see >> really, >> I mean, the first call was him, you know, apparently he was yelling outside.
