Sir, you don't have to detain Honesty is key in any employee, but sometimes the wrong person slips through the cracks. The people you're about to meet aren't exactly criminal masterminds. They crossed the line and got caught red-handed. Hiring the wrong person is bad, but hiring a thief I'm not trying to make this as difficult as simple as What's your name, officer? Wilcox, Ashley. I got a business card I can give you. What's your birthday? On Feb 8, 2021, Brookhaven police responded to a Costco in Atlanta after reports a woman stole liquor and other items. Surveillance shows her leaving with unpaid merchandise. Hey y'all. Hey. Hey. Hello. >> How you doing, ma'am? Good, y'all. All right, good. Good to see you again. I know, good to see you. Ma'am, just step here. Uh ma'am, this is uh Ms. Heaven from the greater power. Uh this is my manager, Shawn, and my manager, D. She uh left the warehouse with these items in her bag. >> I didn't leave the warehouse. Can you let him finish first and then I'm going to ask you? Okay. I caught her right at the door there. Okay. With these items >> Costco staff confront the woman stating she concealed multiple items in a bag. She denies leaving the store and claims the goods are hers. This is in her hand and these two is in her bag. Okay. She has several other items in the bag that she concealed that she has not paid for. Okay. If you could put those on the table. >> Why would I put them on the Ma'am, you definitely want to press charges. Huh? We definitely want to press charges. Okay. What's your name? Heaven. You don't press charges for what? >> Heaven. Shoplift. Heavenly Father. The thing is did you pull the camera? Yeah. All right, y'all. Did you pull the camera? If you can stay with them and pull up and take real quick and you can see >> Okay. I never left this never left the store. You didn't? >> No. Okay. I never left the store. I was right at the door. Okay. I was right at the door. Okay. You got a ID on you, Ms. Heaven? Hello. It's probably in It's in the car. You don't have one on you? Okay. Who who is the law? Huh? What is the law? The law. The woman insists she purchased the items last week and returned to the store, but admits using someone else's membership card. What is the law? Because I didn't leave here. Well, that's why he going to look at the video. I wasn't here. They have it on video. Um I got to go they called 911. I'm going to do a service. Um but you don't have your ID on you. I came back in the store. I asked the girl at the front. Okay. So you came to return those? The items back. Okay. When did you purchase them? Last week. Last week? Okay. You got a membership so they can pull that up seeing that you purchased it last week. Okay. Uh well, some people don't they get a little temporary. I know I go to Sam's Club. >> I do have a little temporary card. Okay, but yeah. But I used someone else's. What I did. Someone else's membership. Okay, so you don't have a membership. >> personal, no. Okay, that's that was the question. >> I should have thought of that. But you used somebody else's that they can pull up there to see if those items are on there. Your first name is Heaven? Yes. Spell it for me. H E A V E N And your last name? I don't really want to give you my last name. Uh I'm here to do an investigation. You got to give me your last name. Why did you shoplift? Okay, and I'm doing an investigation. They pulling the camera so that's why I'm here. What's your birthday? Well, when they finish pulling the camera then What is your birthday? What's your birthday? Once they finish can I give you that? No, cuz right now you're obstructing me from doing my job. What is your birthday? How am I obstructing you? Cuz I'm asking you for important information. I need your birthday. I'm not trying to make this as difficult as simple as What's your name, officer? Wilcox, Ashley. I got a business card I can give you. What's your birthday? Okay, once we uh pull that and and >> So you're refusing to give me your information. >> Okay, what is your birthday? When he come back and say that I wasn't in the camera. Would it be okay? I have a brother-in-law that's a She what is I said really it's it's irrelevant. What's your birthday? What? I just asked. It's It's coming up. It's coming up. >> up soon. Okay. Can I give it to you once I see this once we say okay, well you did this and >> Um what's the membership that you used? Who Who's membership did you use? Katherine Smith. Is that your sister? It's a relative. You have the membership card on you? And when did you purchase those items? Last week. Last week on what what day? Oh, sorry. You're fine. Uh I took tape. About this I'm only discussing the tape when she concealed items and left the warehouse without paying. Okay. I didn't leave the warehouse. Ma'am, I'm I'm with you. >> One, two, was self-concealed and leave. Okay. These got behind >> Loss prevention describes seeing her conceal clothing and wine past all points of sale without paying and use a false membership. >> I still say I couldn't see the concealed. But no receipt for I'm still pulling the tape for the rest of the items she took. Okay. Okay. And she just gave the membership card cuz she don't have a membership to the young lady that was sitting right here. So she's going to She said she purchased those items last week. They are known. >> Yeah. And I showed you the tape where she concealed it over in the main hard line. Okay. And also picked it up in the in the wine section. Okay, and she made it all the way to past the checkout. >> No, checkout is right there at the door where the guy check your card. That's not That's not the register. Yeah, it was right there. It's not outside of the warehouse. But you passed all points of sale. Yeah, but it's not at the warehouse. She had the eggs in there, salmon, all this stuff came from the warehouse but she didn't pay for them. Okay. But she passed the register. I'm going to show you the tape. Shawn, you see it? Yeah. I'll show off the tape real quick. We're trying to deal with this. Okay. I'm going to show Can I see the tape? No, ma'am. Not right now. I was going to go further back. You can see her come through the register right here. Yeah, that's fine. She She walked past the register. Yeah, I got her coming out here. You going to see her stop here for a second ask some kind of random questions and she just concealed it on that side. Good to see you. Good to see you. I'm going to show you here. Just give me a second. Am I out there yet? I mean I mean went back too far. I hope I didn't go back too far. No, that is No, that's not her. You start right here. I don't even see her purchasing anything. Then she got back in that damn dairy and started loading that bag. I couldn't see back in the deli but I got to get in that wine. I got to get in that book. I know I saw her when she put them clothes in her bag. >> go see right here. She go through the register without paying. Surveillance footage shows her adjusting her bag, asking a question at the door, then trying to leave. Staff intervenes. Right there. Went right through the register without paying. See? Mhm. That register and you going to see her here. Go She going to go to the front end stop. She going to stop right here. Actually asking a question. See her back there? Mhm. She got blocked from the keypad. Go right through the register without paying. But she going to stop, turn around, adjust her bag. That's me going out right here in front of her so I can get her stopped. See she asked the question? She asked the question. She stopped. Go to the door. I'm going to slow it down for you. I'm going to slow it down and I'm going to bring this up big for you, okay? Okay. There she go. Straight outside. I stopped it right there. Identified myself. Store employee recounts observing her hide a rose and a book in her back. She was confronted before fully exiting but after bypassing checkout. >> you back up front here, okay? Okay, you you may be placed under arrest for shoplifting. We're not We're not going to show you any camera right now. Okay. Thank you. I can't see the video back Put your hands I'm going to put your hands together like you're praying. No, no, no, no. No. No. The bracelets, can I take the bracelets off? Ma'am. Well, well, well, we'll take them off for you. Okay. Well, we'll take them off for you. You have all the Can you take the uh So. Let me see your hands. I'm going to double lock these cuffs. Thank you. Yes. Hold on. Hold on. Do you have anything on you that's going to stick me, poke me, or hurt you? No. Okay. These are keys, ma'am. Yes. Put that in my pocket. I'm going to put it right here. Put it in my pocket. You guys going to be in big trouble. You know that you guys going to be in big trouble. She was charged with theft, obstruction, and transported to DeKalb County Jail. Go ahead and have a seat. Okay. Thank you. Oh, let me give you a case card. >> She is charged with theft and obstruction, then transported to DeKalb County Jail. Stealing is still theft even if you haven't fully stepped outside the store. Lying and obstructing only turn a bad situation into a worse one. But, this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. You passed the last one at self Yeah. Hey, Rick. Walmart Loss Prevention. LP stops multiple suspects at self-checkout for suspected theft. Suspects claim they were going to pay and accuse staff of bothering them. I ain't taking nothing. I'm not taking anything, Y'ALL. I'M NOT TAKING NOTHING, Y'ALL. I'm not DOING ANYTHING, I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. OKAY. OKAY. Let me get Let me get up. Hey, let me get up. Let me get up. Okay. Okay. I got y'all. I got y'all. I got y'all. If y'all get me up, I can I can Okay. Okay. Or you will get tased. Do you understand? Okay. Okay. Okay. Lay on your stomach. On your stomach, not your side. All the way on your stomach. Give me your other hand. I'm on my stomach. other hand. You I can't even move. ROLL OVER NOW. ROLL OVER THAT WAY. Y'ALL GOT ME TWISTED, BRO. YES, y'all do. Roll over. Well, y'all got me twisted, man. Y'all really got me twisted. I got Yeah, now get on your stomach. I'm trying to get on my stomach, y'all. I'm just trying to get on my stomach, y'all. Yeah. Let's see it. I'm finished turning over and getting on my stomach, y'all. Get on my stomach. Let me have your other hand. I didn't do anything. I'm not doing anything, y'all. Why y'all got me like this? I didn't I didn't do anything. I didn't do nothing, y'all. I didn't do nothing, y'all. SOMEBODY HELP ME RECORD THIS. Record this, y'all. RECORD THIS. I'M NOT I DIDN'T do anything, you guys. I didn't do anything. What happened? What happened, y'all? What happened, y'all? What happened, y'all? Literally, what happened, bro? I didn't do anything, you guys. Listen. You're not going to get away. Do you understand? Yes. You can comply. Sir, other officers en route. Do you understand? Do you understand? Ow! Ow! Ow! What's in my bag? What's the No, I'm not Okay, I'm not doing anything, you guys. I'm not doing anything in here. I'm not doing nothing. You You tried to get my arm in this You said I'll plead. Oh my This is in the front right here. The front one. The front one. The front one. No. Okay. LP and officers note two large pink bins full of merchandise. Suspects allegedly pretended to pay, then moved toward the exit before seeing police and turning back. I haven't done anything. Security footage shows five individuals coordinating. Officers identify one juvenile among them. Why you My ID is my ID right This one? This. What's your name? So, who's Dewberry? Chelsea. Dewberry is the guy who I was running for. Who what? He's not there. Long hair? Doesn't say long hair on here. Well, that's not what >> The main suspect insists she was doing two separate transactions, cash and card, and denies theft. Officers inform them Walmart wants to press charges. Answer the question. When we go to his house, he's going to say that Joseph was doing work for him. I've never been to his house. So, he's going to pay you to do what? I It It a business. How did you get the check? The phone. You see what I'm saying? When I come up, I'm going to take a picture of you, and I'm going to go to his house. And I'm going to say, "Do you know this guy?" And he's going to tell me what? He's going to tell me tell me what? It's a black guy? Yeah. Okay. Close. What happened? What did I do? Everything. He said everything. What did I do? Literally. Don't Don't even Don't even I don't know anything about any of that stuff. Don't even Don't even go So, you put it in the bathroom, and you take you take you take it with you. Okay, so what is that? Huh? Hey, you want to go and get the price of that while they're still here? Suspects become argumentative. Officers warn about possible resisting charges and begin making arrests for retail theft, $929 worth. But, after you said >> I didn't take anything out of the store, y'all. You passed the last one at self Yeah. Hey, Rick. Where did the cellular Stand up and turn around. Listen, if you try anything funny when I loosen this cuff, you will go through that wall. Do you understand? I can't go out there, dog, so I ain't You can't go You can't go through the wall. I'm trying to go through the wall. >> All right. So, how many different names do we have? Bad thing is is you would have just got a ticket on your way. I mean To avoid the county, you would have got All right. So, listen to me. Okay. I appreciate the spontaneous effort. One suspect resists being placed in the patrol car saying she's on probation and pleading not to be taken to jail. Officers explain charges will be handled in court. Oh yeah, where's that blue bag at? Okay, listen to me. I You and I really don't have nothing else to discuss, okay? What's done is done. How much was that monitor? Do you own a Porsche? So, whose Porsche Even this? This This is yours? And where at? Where'd you find these at? The suspect becomes emotional, mentions family issues, and is trespassed from Walmart for 2 years. Later, she has a possible medical or panic episode in the patrol car. You just hit the jackpot with the bags, didn't you? You said what? So, there was nothing coke in there? All this is evidence. All right, stand up. EMS checks the suspect, but officers insist she must be medically cleared before going to jail. Suspect expresses anger toward an officer alleging racist comments. No, you thought you could get away. All right. What's that? Depends on how soon I can get the get into the jail. I can always actually get the warrants tomorrow, but I'll give you a call when I leave the jail. Okay. What time you here till? All right, I'll call you when I leave the jail. Yeah. I'm about to get us some air. Final charges: retail theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and resisting arrest. Stealing and coordinating with others only makes the charges worse. Arguing and resisting arrest will turn a bad situation into a much bigger problem. After you see the next case, you may want to think twice. It's shocking. So, and he says that you're not lying, but he's not lying. And obviously that doesn't work, right? >> Yeah, that doesn't make sense. On April 12th, 2024, Florida police responded to reports of an active burglary at a vacant rental property. Acting quickly, they set up an emergency channel to prioritize the case and dispatched multiple officers in an effort to catch the suspects in the act. >> The home is supposed to be vacant. So, we just need them ejected out of the home and having trespassed, arrested, or whatever we need to do. What I'm going to have you do is I'm going to move your truck down over to where that blue vehicle is, so you're out of the way of everything we need to do. All right? Yep. Uh victims willing to press charges. Yep. I got you. All right, you ready? Come up. Police! Now. Everybody out. Step out now. The alleged suspects looked genuinely surprised. They clearly hadn't expected to find half a dozen armed officers surrounding the property. As they stepped out of the house one by one, they wore expressions of complete confusion. But, was that bewilderment real or just a tactic to deflect suspicion? Can you Can Can you Handcuff them. Can we not talk? No. I live here. Is there anybody else in there? Step out. Come out. Come out. Come out. Step out. Hands in the air. Walk this way. Is there anybody else in there? Step out. Step out. Come on. Everything will be explained later. Come on, walk out. I need an extra set of cuffs. Come on, Luke. Put this hand on top of your head. Can we talk? We could talk now. Just give me a minute. We want to talk to the police. Can you give me a minute? Calm down, we're going to talk. I'm just saying my girl got asleep. Come on. All right, take him. He's coming. For a moment, the scene resembled a clown car. People just kept filing out of the house when it seemed impossible there could be anyone else inside. And despite being surrounded by a swarm of armed officers, the suspects appeared surprisingly calm and composed. >> We paid for it Monday, 4,800. All right, you guys have a seat right here. I have a whole lease inside. The lease is right there on the dang thing. The lease is inside of the house? Yes. We paid 4,800 Monday. A guy came today. He He He freaked the code. So, there's a lease inside of the house? I got it. What's that? A lease? He's arrested. They signed it yesterday? Yeah. I have a lease, I paid money, and like I did everything I was supposed to do correct. Okay. You guys So, listen, we're going to figure it out. All right. You got the lease there, we're going to try to So, I'll just come and we're going to clear it, all right? So, work with me, work with us, and you'll be fine. Sir, you can come on down. The discovery of the rental contract added a surprising twist. What started as a squatting case now looked more like potential fraud. The big question was who actually got scammed? I think lease and these people unfortunately fell victim to it. Got a maybe Got a code at 4:00 in the morning to get into this home. 4:00 in the morning. >> At 4:00 in the morning and they tried several times to open the door. We literally haven't even been here for like 5 hours. Literally, we just moved in. Lease never signed lease and did everything. I ain't do I don't know. I ain't do nothing wrong. Signed lease? Mhm. Um they're leaving regardless of what happens. And I'm just going to find out who they are and what their involvement is as of yesterday. Yeah. And they just had people in here on the 9th. So, this is a super quick turnaround. I mean, I'm going to read you something, okay? You have the right to remain silent, you understand? So, we got a call. Somebody was breaking inside this house. We don't know nothing about that and to that point, that's what we know. So, that's why we There's a lot of us here cuz that's what we got. All right. >> This case was quickly turning more complicated than expected. The responding officers had arrived prepared to deal with squatters or burglars, but now they suddenly found themselves untangling what appeared to be a fraud case. >> We didn't have access to the We had a code. We had someone that sent us the code or we had given them 4,800 for Somebody texted actually the code. Yeah, he was through text me that I cuz I don't have a service phone right now. Mhm. Uh so, I used to send him through text the number and he gave me the code for it and then he came in. And he said you're good to go and as long as you have these papers. Okay. So, you're the one that signed these? Yes. Okay. So, what would you say if we had evidence that shows that you accessed their system to gain a code at least four times? What would you say about that? Yes, we did do that because we kept on getting locked out from the code. So, we asked him and they said go through the application moms to get the code. Who said that? >> pick. I think his name was like uh Start with a B. It's like an Indian accent guy, you know who I mean? >> Okay. Do you have proof that you sent this guy money? It was through cash. It was through cash. Something about the woman's story didn't add up. If she had paid the man in cash face-to-face, she should have been able to give a clearer description of him. And if the payment was made another way, there should at least have been some kind of paper trail. Uh we found him on Facebook, I'm pretty sure. And then he gave us the mail like the mail address and we sent it to him. So, you mailed a stranger cash? Yeah, you've never met. He's out still. And then you couldn't get access to a home. They had done by company. How did the What happened to the original door handle and all that stuff? Where are they done? I don't know. When did you start moving in? I started moving in about 2 days ago. How long? Three? Two. Two? Yeah. So, at least it was signed yesterday. And you moved in 2 days ago. Don't you think that's suspicious? Says right there. Yeah. 4/11. Today's the 12th. You moved in the day before you started to sign your lease? That seems suspicious to me. >> go ahead and start moving in and we'll sign the lease later. I was like, "Okay, sounds good." Did my pizza of cones he's going to pull up here? You ordered pizza? Yeah, pizza of hut. How many you got? He's pulling up here. You How many you ordered? How many pies? I ordered a dinner box. A dinner box? Like this How many are there? One, two? I'm going to give my friends That's not for us. That's not for us. Yeah. >> It seemed like nothing raised suspicion for this girl. You could rob a bank right in front of her and she still wouldn't bat an eye. Apparently, her roommates were just as unfazed since they even went ahead and ordered pizza. In person. How? Cash. That's a very strange. You know what? You know what's strange? Here's the problem with lying. Now, you got three different people. So, your girlfriend said that she mailed the money to the guy and has never met him. Why is her story completely different from yours? It's literally Tell me if you're lying. Came in person. Oh, did you? We met him today. Came in person. We moved in today. We were here only for 5 hours before y'all came. So, how did you find this house? I just told you, Facebook Marketplace, Zillow. Zillow? Zillow, Facebook Marketplace. Okay. You know those are two different companies, right? That's where Marketplace They had it on Marketplace. The link sent to Zillow. >> What does the guy look like? Huh? >> What does the guy look like? How do you know I'm over there? You know I'm younger than you. Who? I'm not a child. Guy in the green shirt. The guy in the green shirt? He look Spanish, same color, same complexion just like him but a little skinnier, younger. Okay. So, you're going to stick by your story that a guy came and Today, yes. He came today. Yes. And unlocked the door. Yes. When the cops first arrived, it was at least somewhat believable that these people might just be victims. But after questioning them, officers uncovered several inconsistencies in their stories. That's all I'm going to say, all right? It's not adding up. It's right there. The lease Are you kidding me? I can go online right now and print that out and give you a lease right now. They didn't do that. I don't need to do that. I'm just saying that that means nothing to me. Exactly. That feels like I don't know. Where'd the cash come from? I don't know. Ours. Whose ours? Me and my girlfriend. Okay. Where did it come from? From my You are lying. You had it the whole time. Working what? Again, she told us that you got it from her parents. So, any more lies? She's a Any more lies? She's a 20-year-old What do you want to like And she's scared. She's scared of every one of y'all. Oh, that's it? Pointing guns at her. >> The problem with this guy's story was that his girlfriend didn't seem nervous in the slightest. In fact, her ability to tell blatant lies to armed police officers without even a flicker of anxiety bordered on sociopathic. I'm going to give you your last opportunity to come come clean. Your boyfriend completely different. So, not one thing that you said that you told us matches. Not one thing. Not lining up at all. He came up with a completely different story on how you guys have came to be in this house. So, and he says that you're not lying but he's not lying. And obviously, that doesn't work, right? >> Yeah, that doesn't make sense. So, how did you pay? So, he said you don't have to pay until the 16th because I don't get paid till the 16th. So, you haven't paid anything? No, not yet. Not information, phone number. And then he texted me on through the phone number. That's suspicious to me because that doesn't work like that. You can't just put homes in Zillow and then put like fake numbers. Like it It gets put in by the company or the realtor. It was lucky for the cops and very unlucky for the suspects that one of the officers had experience in real estate. That background made it much easier for him to spot the holes in the suspects' stories. Okay. Do you understand? I don't believe anything you're saying. You've already lied once. Now, you're lying again. Okay? And you're not even out any money on. So, I would just let people stay without paying. Especially renting. That's like guaranteed you pay first month, last month's rent. So, I don't believe a word you're saying. I think that you tried to get in here fraudulently. And I don't think it's your first rodeo. And it is what it is. Actions have consequences. So, step aside. Do you have anything on you that's going to poke us or stick us? I just have a vape in my pocket. Okay. When we get over here, we'll uh Both the man and the woman were charged with scheme to defraud and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. The man also faced arrest for a probation violation stemming from a previous burglary charge. And just for the record, he never got to eat that pizza he ordered. Lying to the police might buy you a few minutes, but the truth and the charges will catch up fast. And if you're in the middle of a crime, maybe skip ordering pizza. And that's what I didn't do. Okay. It's on video. Okay, I want to see the video. >> Well, I'm telling you. Meet Deja Holly, a 20-year-old Walmart employee caught stealing in Florida not once, but five times during her shift. Her boss had seen enough and called the police to handle the situation. >> All right, Deja. So, uh they got you on camera basically taking money from the register, putting in your pocket. Money? Where? >> Yeah. They got you on camera. We're going to have you able to empty your out of your pockets. I didn't mind nothing. Okay, I'll have you take that out. That's my money. That's ours. That's it. That's it. You staying >> Anything else in your pockets? No, sir. I didn't mind nothing. Okay, I'm going to have you All right, place your items right there. I'm going to have you turn and face the wall right here. I'm going to pat you down. You got nothing on you? Which pocket did you put it in? This one. It seems the seriousness of the situation hadn't quite sunk in for Deja. Even after being shown clear photos of her stealing from the register, she stayed surprisingly nonchalant and kept denying everything. She even started raising her voice at both store staff and police officers who were just trying to explain what she needed to do. If that's not peak oblivious behavior, I don't know what is. I have my own money. Okay. Well, I mean, it's on camera. Can I see for myself? Please. I'm going to show you the pictures just to show you. There's a camera like literally right there. >> I know. I know that. Of course. So here's the times that I guess you were taking it the other days, right? The other days? Okay. I can't see much. I can't see much. I see me putting taking money out. And this one? >> mine, sir. Okay. All right. So whenever uh Write a statement out real quick. Okay. The days that you were Cuz y'all was looking looking for something. So you're going to listen to what this gentleman's going to tell you to do, okay? Cuz right now you're at work. What I want you to do is write a statement about why you have this money and you're going to explain to us what has happened on these previous days. How how can I know what happened if I'm it look like I'm taking money out of the drawer? I'm just letting you know it's all on video, okay? So I need you to write a statement about what has happened. Yeah. But this morning that we had discussed with you about your statement today. Okay. Now you what do I do with this statement? So you write I hear him. I hear him. Okay. Now y'all going to make me mad. I'm being calm right now because I'm trying to see what's going on. We're being calm too. We're just explaining what you need to do, okay? The staff then clarified to Deja that the still images were taken from actual video footage showing her pocketing money and denying it wouldn't change the facts. That seemed to strike a nerve. Almost instantly her attitude shifted and she became hostile toward the officers. She even refused to follow their instructions and picked up her belongings after being told not to. The still photos yes and we do have videos today, okay? So we're not just just cuz these still photos are showing what where your hands are at it's not changing anything from the video. I didn't say anything. I'm just letting you know. We already have it documented, a video and everything of you getting the money. Okay. Okay? I'm confused. Can I put my stuff back up in here? No, just leave them just leave them right there. This is my money that I bought with my money. Okay. Okay. Ma'am, Write the statement. We're going to This is my stuff though. What y'all doing? Okay, right now you're in custody, okay? So I need you to get your stuff out. All right, just write the statement. That's fine. But this is my stuff I bought with my money. Okay, SO THEN WRITE THAT ON THE STATEMENT. >> I am but okay, you don't need to yell at me. Do it what they're telling you to do. >> still. Don't don't talk to me how I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to y'all. No, right now you're still at work. So you're going to do what work's going to ask you to do. Write that in your statement. I am but let them my people the people that I'm working for let them talk to me, please. Y'all don't have to. Okay, they called us to assist so now we're here. So now you're going to write that statement. The back and forth continued and Deja kept denying the accusations. She began talking back to the officers saying she wouldn't speak to them which sure is her legal right but it didn't stop there. When asked to write a statement Deja refused again handing back the paper with nothing on it but her initials. happened. That's why I'm I'm telling you what happened. I'm not talking to y'all, please. I'm talking to you. But I'm not talking to you. You I'm talking to him. I'm telling you what happened, okay? Okay, but like what happened? You know taking money from the registers and putting it in your back pocket. >> y'all saying. Okay. And that's what I didn't do. Okay. Well it's on video. Okay, I want to see the video. Well I'm telling you. I'm telling you it's on video. It's okay. I don't want to write no statement. Well then if you don't want to write no statement then you can put no statement. I don't want to write no statement. Well then you want to you're going to initial it. You're going to put in there I don't want to put no statement you're going to initial it. What? Okay? Like like Like no statement and then initial it with your initials. Like no statement and then initial it. Okay? So this way I can't put in there that you did something. Here you go, sir. Okay? It's my initials. D H. At this point it's clear Deja still doesn't grasp the seriousness of the situation. She casually asked the officers what's your deal as if nothing major was happening. So it's no surprise she looked completely confused and shocked when they finally told her she was under arrest. But if you think that's wild just wait because what she did next sealed the deal. Okay. You know. I don't come here just to look at videos. >> y'all putting on there? Arrest you. Arrest me? >> Yes, so you're going to do what they told you to do is take get back home. Why is y'all arresting me? Because you're under arrest for stealing. I didn't steal anything. >> take off your vest so then we can get out of here. Okay, can I go home? I didn't steal. Like I'm not even from out here. You what now? Bro, don't touch me. I got to GET MY I GOT TO GET MY STUFF. OH, I'M NOT EVEN FROM OUT HERE. I DID NOT STEAL ANYTHING. OKAY. OKAY. LOOK AT THIS BRO. OKAY. OKAY. I'M NOT TURNING AROUND. OW. OW. STOP IT. OW. RELEASE YOU. NO, I DIDN'T DO NO, I DIDN'T GIVE ME YOUR HANDS. I didn't do it. Your hands behind your back. Y'ALL HURTING ME. Y'ALL HURTING ME. STOP. Y'ALL HURTING ME. OH, Y'ALL SERIOUS RIGHT NOW. MA'AM, you're resisting. What y'all mean? I WAS GOING TO turn around. Y'all Can I get my belongings? And from there things went downhill fast. The officers had to use more force just to get Deja in handcuffs and in the process her nails were broken. Sure it may have looked rough but the officers were simply doing their job. When someone suspected of a crime becomes aggressive police are trained to stand their ground and enforce the law. That's just how it works. Stop tensing up your hands. I AM BURNED OUT. I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING. Y'ALL ALREADY GOT ME IN THE HANDCUFFS. What can I do? You're getting in the ambulance to get checked out. Just calm down. What? Like that don't even make sense. Y'all hurt me and then put me in the ambulance. What? Once the chaos settled the blame game began. Deja pointed fingers at the officers insisting they were at fault for what happened. But the officers had a different story noting that it was her resistance during the arrest that ultimately led to her injuries. I DIDN'T OH MY GRANNY OH MY oh my COUSIN BRING THAT CAMERA on me, G. I DID NOT HEAR HER. WELL YOU'RE ON BODY CAMERA SO I WAIT. Y'ALL DID all that. I DIDN'T I DIDN'T SHOW I DIDN'T STEAL BUT LET me can I go in the back and get my things? The officers were clearly having a tough time getting Deja under control. She was still furious about her broken nails and upset that multiple cops were handling her at once. But honestly you can't really blame them for being extra cautious given how uncooperative she had been. Fortunately once they asked her to stay calm and the ambulance arrived her attitude began to shift. Her demeanor softened and she even started showing respect toward the officers. They broke my nails. 626. They broke my nails. Okay. That's really it. Okay. Yes. Thank you. You want to go to the hospital and get checked out? No. Okay. How about we cover that up so it doesn't bleed all over, okay? Sounds good? Now came the tougher questions. When asked why she had the money Deja claimed she had bills to pay just like everyone else. But unlike most honest folks she couldn't explain the other times she was seen pocketing cash during her shifts. That's when things took another turn. Her attitude grew aggressive again especially after officers discovered she was carrying fake IDs making her situation even worse. I I have bills to pay and that's that's why I took it out of my chest. Ask him. I didn't see anything. You got to get it out of your bank account. You showed that transaction. We got our our videos. I thought I did. Yep, some people do. Oh good. We'll get back to you. Okay. I can't how I'm going to get a statement? I'm confused. So you fake IDs? Yeah, I do. I'm young. I'm 20 years old. Okay. I like to party. I like to Yeah, but this Okay, I don't give a [ __ ] Y'all can throw THEM AWAY. Y'ALL GOT MY real ID. Oh no, they're not they're not getting thrown away. Whatever y'all going to do it. I'm getting charged with In the end the officers had reached their limit and gave Deja one final warning about her behavior. Still she insisted she hadn't been resisting at all. Unfortunately for her that excuse didn't fly with the cops. They weren't convinced and without any more patience to spare they walked her out of the store and straight to the POLICE CAR. HE BROKE MY NAILS AND SOME MORE. And you can Put your hands behind your back when you told you to. I Okay. I was right here. When I was right here I got up and that's WHEN HE DID ALL THIS EVERYTHING. I'M NOT GOING TO HAVE TO LIE about that. While being transported to jail Deja still couldn't wrap her head around what was happening. She questioned the officer genuinely confused that photos alone could lead to her arrest. In an attempt to gain sympathy she launched into a story about how poorly she was treated by the people at Walmart. Hoping to appeal to the officers' emotions. But by that point the damage was already done. I mean I I wasn't there so I don't know. And then the Yeah, and then as he man come like I know I I have I know my like I have not anger anger but like I can trigger off basically easy. And as as them talking to me the guy police guy he just keep like being uh What is it aggressive towards me like keep Listen to them. Listen to them like but I was telling him that I'm not talking to them. I'm talking to you know the security that's telling me. So they telling me to do the the statement but what statement do I pose to put if y'all the one who saying y'all have the video this and that. So let me see the video and basically I can tell my story but how do I pose to tell a story of y'all not showing me anything but a picture of me grabbing money out the cashier the cash register. Like that's why I'm like that don't even make sense at all. And then as me I said I'm like okay Put your hands behind stuff like that. I'm not Can I get my things? He no. And basically I'm trying to get up and turn to turn around. I'm asking him can I get my things cuz they they still have my coat and my purse. He got literally pull my whole hand like my arm is hurting. >> Ultimately Deja was charged with aggravated assault, theft, and resisting arrest. As for her nails, well, no one really knows. In Florida, aggravated assault, theft, and resisting arrest are serious offenses. Aggravated assault is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison while theft and resisting can add additional jail time and fines leading to a potential multi-year sentence and a lasting criminal record. Denying the evidence won't change the outcome especially when it's caught on camera. Staying calm and honest goes a lot further than defiance AND EXCUSES. MY STUFF! MY FINGER THIS IS A LIAR. AND THEN HE LOSE my stuff. It's January 4th, 2024 and police respond to a report of a woman suspected of shoplifting from Walmart. Officers catch up with her near a Subway restaurant because naturally after alleged theft who doesn't grab a sandwich? Hi, we have somebody matching description that was shoplifting at the Walmart. Yeah. They said they took off towards the Subway wearing an orange jacket and striped pants. Oh yeah, no. I mean they said they thought I was but I don't have a flashlight. I didn't have a flashlight that I got at their store. Okay. I got one at Harbor Freight a lot earlier and I have I got matches and a rope cuz I'm setting up on my camp again and it's dark. You know what I mean? But I didn't need that. I just needed the matches and the rope so I could set up the tarp. Do you have a receipt? Um for what? I thought you said you got matches and a tarp. Yeah, I got matches and a rope. So did you have a receipt for the transaction? Huh? Do you have a receipt for that transaction? No. I'm just getting a sandwich now. I don't know I I mean I bought it at Walmart. The woman swears she didn't steal anything. She claims she bought the flashlight at Harbor Freight along with rope and matches all for a camping trip because nothing says outdoorsy like walking out of Walmart with unpaid survival gear. For what? For shoplifting. I did not No, I just bought that sandwich. When officers try to detain her, she quickly turns emotional. She insists all she did was buy a sandwich and says she's being treated unfairly. The tears start flowing and the resistance kicks in. Relax. You have to do No, please don't. OH! OH! GIVE ME YOUR HANDS. OH! OH! OH, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME? OH, WHY ARE YOU DOING this to me right now? I hope you die right now you [ __ ] [ __ ] And you going to enjoy every [ __ ] day. Oh, you're detaining me. I don't see you detaining me like this. Why do you have to ARREST ME? WHY? YOU'RE BEING DETAINED. HEY. OH! RELAX. DON'T DO THAT. OH! MY STUFF! MY FINGER THIS IS A LIAR. AND THEN HE LOSE MY STUFF. RELAX. IT'S NOT FAIR WHAT YOU'RE DOING. IT'S NOT FAIR. THAT'S NOT FAIR THAT YOU TOOK MY STUFF BECAUSE YOU'RE A JERK. RELAX. IT'S NOT FAIR. STAND UP. NO! NO! You have to be fair, please. Please somebody be fair to me. Please anybody be be fair. She pleads with officers to be fair crying loudly refusing to give her name and creating a scene. It's not helping her case but it's definitely turning heads. It's not right. IT'S NOT RIGHT. NO! NO! RELAX. NO! JUST TAKE A SEAT. WHAT'S YOUR NAME? MA'AM. WHAT'S YOUR NAME? MA'AM. YOU'RE GOING TO GET CHARGED WITH CONCEALING. WHAT'S WRONG? MA'AM, I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU ANYWAY. YOU'RE BEING VERY UNCOOPERATIVE. HOW ARE YOU HELPING ME? HELP! WELL, I'M trying to figure out what's going on. You have no idea what's going on. I didn't do it. Okay, what's your name? It's not my business. Nobody will even let me know. What's your name? Nobody will even let me know. How am I supposed to help you? >> Okay, what's your name? How am I supposed to help you if nobody lets me know? >> to get charged with concealing if you don't give me your name. >> finally just doing well and minding my business and called me down. >> Okay, WHAT'S YOUR NAME? NO! NO? OKAY. Officers try to keep things calm and gently ask for her ID. She stays combative and claims she's the one being mistreated not the store or the officers. Like when she was trying to turn and you were trying to get your cuffs out and I felt like I think that was her. Yeah, last time I can't feel my right now. Yeah, let me uh What did you guys see right there? Did Did you see her hit the officer? I ordered the sandwich she paid and everything Okay. She asked to use the restroom when I told her they were out of order and then she just sat Well, Well, that's when I showed up cuz I saw her going that way. Yeah, I don't know. I just Okay, did you see any of that incident happen right there? No, I I walked away. Okay. All right. All right, cool. They said that they went towards the back and they didn't see nothing. No, I was I just felt like a and I'm like Is that her? Cuz I was like turning your wrist. I didn't That wasn't me. Can you take over there? Yeah, I'm going to try to figure out her name. Have you dealt with her before? I never have. Never seen her. Please. They read her Miranda rights but she keeps denying everything saying she's a regular Walmart shopper and she always pays. You okay? Going to be wearing bright colored clothing. >> I don't know yet. Okay. Negative on any weapons. All right, there. Read this card. It's your Miranda warning It's your Miranda warning. I'm sorry. Do you understand these rights that I have explained them to you? You don't understand them? So what do you not understand? I can ask you questions after you read me those rights? Yes. Why should I care what to do? I don't know what to do. Okay. I've been [ __ ] doing the best I can. I understand that. I cannot handle all this pressure. I didn't do anything wrong. Okay. So again, the reason why we got called is cuz of a shoplifting that was reported. I did see video footage of you >> shoplifting. Yes. How? What's on the video footage. What did I lift? What do you mean what you lift? What did I lift? Like what did you grab? >> What did I shop for? That's not shoplifting. If you if you grab something and then you leave and then >> here all the time. Okay. Do you have those flashlights on you? I thought you guys took everything. >> Okay. I paid $10 for that sandwich that I'm not getting now because they lied. Okay. You know how much that cost you here and what I don't have? I'm sorry about that. That's a mental health. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Okay. Do you have any other What am I supposed to do? Okay. Do you have any other And then they didn't let me out. What am I supposed to do then? Do you have any flashlights on your These people that are going to laugh at me. Okay. >> don't know. on you? I don't know. Do you have any other >> what I have on me. I don't even know if I'm clothed or not. I feel so stupid. >> have clothes on, ma'am. Obviously. My flesh is my clothes. >> I'm not asking a question. Well, I'm answering your question. Can I Can I check your pockets to make sure there's no flashlight so we can rule that out? So what you have me you just take everything of value out of me because you already have. Okay. So right now you're being detained, okay? For the crime of shoplifting. >> Obviously. Can I get out? >> No. Why? >> You're not free to leave. I'm not free to leave. I'm not trying to leave. What am I going to do leave in handcuffs and then run around like somebody's going to set me free? Like I'm not just going to get thrown out and get made fun of some more because I'm in handcuffs I can't get out of. Yeah, okay. So can I check your pockets to make sure there's no flashlight in there? No! No? Is that going to stop you? No, whenever we do When you do get arrested for shoplifting, I will search you. Her defense starts getting creative. She says flashlights and matches should be free. She keeps insisting she's being targeted for no reason possibly the first ever shoplifting case based on survivalist philosophy. I don't know about the rope. Maybe the rope. I'm sorry. But still like what is that so big? And where does it have me taking them? It's two It's two packages. It's just like a regular wall flashlight and then the ones that has like the LED bar. Mhm. You guys going to pursue for the shoplifting? Yeah. All right. Why? Why can't you just ticket me? And make me pay you. Like I would pay you. I just don't have that much to pay you all at once. Copy 1948. Please let me pay you. Okay. Then comes a twist. She tells the officer she's actually on a payment plan with Walmart. Bold strategy. As far as the law goes, Walmart doesn't do layaway at self-checkout. >> Hey, you. There's there's no payment plan when it comes to Walmart, or at least any business. >> That's [ __ ] I had a $25 debit card from them. Okay. Do you have anything on you that could cut someone or poke me? I have a 5 I think, but I don't know if it's there in my little change bag. Okay. What do you have in here? I don't know. You don't know? >> I don't remember. I have to stop everything to me and I don't know what I have on me until I get to a spot where I can take it all out and go >> Her emotions pour out. She says she just wants to feel loved and safe. Opens up about her mental health and explains how society has rejected her. The officers remain patient, but they've still got a job to do. Call me. That's pretty cool. I don't Was it difficult to learn? Yeah. Yeah? Well, see, that's a useful skill. I don't think so. I do. Can't believe we're having a raise up with other people, but I don't get a very often to do it because nobody gives a [ __ ] about that stuff. Well, there's a lot of people that make >> I don't like I don't give a [ __ ] about that stuff. I want to be warm and I want to be loved and I want to be home. I haven't been any of those things for years. Can you say about please? And before that, I kept going through it and people just kept laughing at me. They say four set of girls just laughing at me that I couldn't use my make money. I understand. I don't want you do what they did. I will not do what they did. Can you please come out? I don't think they're wrong or they're bad or they're stupid. >> Mhm. I just think they're mean. Okay. And I don't think they're mean. Ma'am, can you please come out? And I could be mean and ugly, but I don't want you do what other people say. I just get over it. I don't think people have the right to do this to me personally. >> Do what? What you're doing. Checking to make sure you don't have any merchandise on you. Well, look, what what did I get that was it absolutely necessary for my life? >> Okay. And I understand that That's safety. All right. Like I at least care about my life and my safety. I don't go around risking everybody else's. I understand. And nobody protects me for that. All right. You can Nobody supports me for that. >> Can you please sit down? Nobody even let me see my kids without being after party tantrums for that. >> Okay. All right. Can you please scoot scoot in? Thank you. Why did this happen? Is this your goods? Yeah, it's like yeah, that's what I should take. Okay. So, I don't know if she took the packaging. Yeah, I don't This is all I found on her. Um Did she put it in her bag? >> The woman was officially charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest. Now, imagine her standing before a judge and claiming that some items are supposed to be free. It's safe to say that kind of argument probably won't go over well in court. Shoplifting, petit theft, and resisting arrest are typically misdemeanors, but together they can lead to up to two years in jail, fines totaling $2,000, and a permanent criminal record that may affect employment and housing opportunities. Even small thefts can lead to serious consequences. Emotional outbursts won't undo the crime. Accountability matters more than excuses, no matter how desperate the situation feels. >> So, you're just saying you're not going anywhere, but we're just going to check your box here. >> Sorry, you don't have to detain me. 2024 in Florida, police were called to a Target store where loss prevention LP staff were keeping eyes on a woman in the middle of a not-so-sneaky shoplifting operation. She was apparently a frequent flyer well-known from a previous case, and this time she was hiding items in a box. She had said she put it inside a container. She's selecting a few more things. Mhm. So, she's going to end up trying to push out most likely. Um one of our coworkers said she knows her from back in the day, and apparently in the past >> Heavy set? Huh? Heavy set? Was she the heavy set female? >> No, no, no, no. No, slender, but the lady officer Yeah, she she doesn't look that strong. You could probably take her. No, no, no, no, no. I know I know somebody in the past, but No, she's a white woman like in her mid-40s. Okay. >> Blonde, straight hair, black pants. Kind of like that outfit, but not her. Um but she's uh my buddy's going to let me know when she's like headed out cuz if she for some weird reason ends up paying for anything, I don't want to stop her, you know, unlock like >> Okay. Wait, but but wait, if that's the store, we just go by It's store policy cuz once if you read a code section pertaining to shoplifting, Mhm. right? Once the person um conceal Mhm. Once the person conceal, you know, that's it. That's shoplifting right there. Yeah. But I know your policy don't she won't she must pass all points of sale. points of sale. So, that y'all got y'all own law then y'all got up y'all Right, right. Policy and law obviously weigh different. Officers knew the drill. This wasn't her first rodeo. They waited patiently for her to pass all checkout points as required by policy before stepping in. Meanwhile, they discussed her record, which as it turns out includes some seriously wild history. girlfriend try to put her in her car. Kidnap her? I don't know if she was trying to kidnap her. Apparently, she tried to handcuff her. I don't know the the whole details of the story, but apparently, she tried to grab her ex-husband's new girlfriend and try to handcuff her, put her in her car. Okay. Well, she put it back down. No, she's grabbing more. >> Turns out, she was once involved in an attempted kidnapping allegedly trying to snatch her ex-husband's girlfriend using handcuffs. Yeah, that kind of history. So, officers knew they had to tread carefully. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, some of these people that we stopped they're like, "What, that's a felony? I thought it was a thousand." It's over five five hundred now, man. In Georgia, yeah, it's five hundred. I think in California, it's like a thousand. Thousand to fifteen hundred to half an hour. increased it to >> 20 minutes of quiet surveillance, she made her move to exit the store. Officers approached and gave her a choice, come quietly or in cuffs. She resisted, got emotional, and pleaded to just pay for the stuff now. Oh, and her dog was home alone. She made that clear multiple times. So, you're just saying you're not going anywhere, but we're just going to check your box here. Sorry, you don't have to detain me. I'm just going to >> me to the AP office. Follow me, ma'am. Just follow him, please. Dude, I don't need to be detained. Yes, ma'am, you do. Please follow him. Please don't do this to me. Ma'am, no one's doing this to you. You need to follow him that way. Please. It's either you come with us without cuffs or with cuffs. I have a dog at home. That's fine. With or without cuffs, the choice is yours. Are you taking me to jail? You're being detained right now. You can be detained with or without cuffs. Are you taking me to jail? See you in camera. See you in camera. You're detained. All right. You don't have to touch me. No, you're detained. You can you can touch you. You you can touch you. Okay. You got the car? Yeah, you're going to be in here. Well, I was going to ring it all up. I know you get to total up the stuff. special Do what? Can I just pay for the merchandise? It's too late now. I have a dog. I don't live with anybody and I have a dog at home that's going to have nobody to take care of him. You can go ahead and leave. You're seeing me. >> Probably should have thought of that beforehand. I mean, don't steal. I realize that. Officers gently explained that unfortunately, it was too late for checkout deals. With the evidence on hand including video footage and the box of unpaid goods, this wasn't something she could walk away from. She also claimed she didn't have an ID and kept asking to be let go because of her dog. I'm sorry. You got an ID? Driver's license? No. No? So, you were driving with no license? What's that? So, you were driving with no license? I don't have it on me. It's at home. So, that means you're driving with no license. So, you're driving with no license Huh? What's your What's your name? I have to figure out something to do with my dog. Well, you should have thought Is there no way you can just cite me? No. No, that's not the way it works, ma'am. I'm sorry, but that's not the way it works. That's not the way it works. My dog is going to have nowhere to go. You see all this stuff? Huh? Yeah, yeah, you're good with me, yeah. I ain't going to do See, the way this works, this is the way it works. You're you're 48 years old, right? Yeah. You see all this stuff? You should have think about it. This is a huge store. They got cameras everywhere. All right? And whatever you were whatever you took, they see it in camera. And whatever you paid for, they could tell whatever you paid for. All right? You see what I'm saying? Yeah. So, that's pretty much a poor decision on your side. Very poor decision. Very poor decision. Y'all these cameras here? And they got your property. They got your merchandise. They're items inside the store. And you It doesn't matter what it is. And if you feel like you want to skip scan or whatever you want to do, >> If I want to walk they could I'm saying, even if you skip scan, skip scan mean you're pretending like you're paying for an item. Okay. Okay? They could tell you exactly They Their Your camera could zoom in on you. They could zoom right in on your on your phone, your credit card to see exactly what you're doing. Okay? We've been here for like 30 minutes? You've watched you you've watched you you've watched you you've watched you doing all of this. Come on. Come on. Come on, man. You're You're too grown for this. Come on. Guys, I'm begging you. Please just let me go get my dog. I don't I don't see how that works. Yeah. I mean, the unfortunate thing is the dog is caught in the middle of it, but you know, that doesn't change what you've done here. Sir. There's nothing you guys can do to help No. Correct. Yeah. The grand total of her shopping trip around $2,400 way over Georgia's felony theft limit of $500. Officers let her know this meant felony charges were coming. >> They're going to get a total They're getting a total right now for all the ink. Um it's definitely over felony amount. So. I'm not I I I don't send you. I don't do any of that, but the amount of ink that you had is probably over $500. Just for today. Plus what you had on you already. So. Does this have to be an arrest situation? Uh with this amount, yeah. Um right now you're sitting at $2,400 for what you took. But that's why my dachshund doesn't have to be at home alone. Yes. Yes, ma'am. Yeah. It does. Does this mean that they'll be keeping me overnight or >> I'm not sure. Um I'm not sure how Chatham County does their jail. Um could be a couple hours. I don't know. Um usually it's a couple hours with like shoplifting and stuff from what I've seen, but I can't like guarantee you anything. What about my car? Is my car okay to stay here? Yeah, it is. I mean, is there any chance they're going to keep me overnight? I'm I'm not sure. Yeah, it just depends. That's a question for the jail master. >> am just because of my dog. I'm just concerned about my dog. I I understand. I mean, if I were you, what I would do would make arrangements for your dog right now. That's what I did. Yeah. I I agree with that. But I mean, in these types of situations, is it typically an overnight stay? >> Um I mean, at this time it could go either way just because >> She then changed gears asking about jail time, would she be staying overnight? Officers calmly explained she'd need to see a judge first, and no, they couldn't just let her go on a promise to return to her dog. I mean, that's again, that's a question for over at the jail. Another ridiculous question, but then I got to pay for the lamp box. Do I get that back? Um that's for Target. Yeah, you You can keep the box. You can put it in your car, or we can issue a refund for the box itself cuz you did A refund would be fine. Okay. You did pay for the box. We saw that. Um just not the contents inside. Can you get me a dressing? Yes, thank you. I mean, is it usually an overnight? I mean, I'm trying to make arrangements for my dog. I'm a little worried about him. I mean, I mean, look, we can't We can keep telling you the same thing over and over, but >> you do this a lot, I'm sure. So, what do you typically see? I mean, typically do I arrest people for shoplifting at Target a lot? Not necessarily. Shoplifting at So, um I mean, it could go either way like I told you before. You can ask them when you're over there. In the event that it does be an overnight thing, I would again make arrangements for your dog now so that either way you're covered. You know what I'm saying? That's what I'm trying to Right. Is this typically like a Can I transfer this to sign a bond amount or Uh these are questions that I cannot answer for you. That would be up to the judge. Yeah, no, I don't know at all. I mean, that's whatever the judge decides based on a many of circumstances. If there is a bond, is a person allowed to bond themselves out like using a credit card? You can't bond out on a felony What's that? You don't bond out on a felony. You got to see a judge. You can't bond out. You got to see a judge first. So, I'm not going to get out today. No. Because of the high dollar amount, no immediate bond would be available. She'd likely have to stay in jail overnight until she could appear in court the next day. Okay. But that's not my say. Once it's a felony, you must face a judge. Unless it changes beyond my knowledge, you know. Okay, so no bond? No, what I'm saying is this. Based on my knowledge, whenever it's a felony amount, you do not post no bond. So, maybe after you see a judge, then you get The judge will decide whatever you do. I know sometimes you post bond and all this stuff, but sometimes you got to see a judge first. But this is a felony amount. I I I I can't I can't So, when you see a judge first, then they will decide. I know you said earlier there's a chance it could be out today. Who did No, no, this No, I said that's up to the judge. That's what the judge is going to decide in the courts and all that. Yeah, they they will decide all We don't decide that, so. But with it being this time of day, it's not going to get decided today, right? I don't think so. No, no, no. So, it's a guarantee I'm here overnight. Yeah. I Like I said, we we we Like I said, based on my knowledge, they you see a judge like in the morning. Yeah. I don't want to give her information that's wrong, misleading information. She begged again. But the officers reminded her they don't make the rules. It was up to the judge now. She was then formally cuffed and taken into custody. I Like I said, maybe you go in there and they say, "Hey, time for you to go and see the judge." I don't know. All right, Miss Hill. Got to handcuff you real quick. Take you out of here. Okay. What's that receipt there? Is that for your refund? Yeah. Okay. I don't know if I'm going to put it in there, but I got to put this back and handcuff you before you leave. You can put your arms like that. The woman was charged with felony shoplifting and received a lifetime ban from Target. In Florida, felony shoplifting, typically involving stolen goods over $750 or repeat offenses, can result in up to 5 years in prison, $5,000 in fines, and a permanent felony record. In addition the woman received a lifetime ban from all Target stores, further restricting her future access and opportunities. Stealing might seem small, but the consequences can last a lifetime.
