Don't you smack. Stop it. >> I'm not doing anything wrong. So the lady comes in the bathroom. I'm not done. I'm not even done shopping. Who out? >> In today's economy, everyone's feeling the squeeze. Prices are climbing, taxes are rising, and it's getting harder just to make ends meet. But no matter how tough things get, that's never an [music] excuse to break the law. There's nothing quite as satisfying as watching these not so bright criminals realize their little scheme just came crashing down. >> Don't you stop it. Stop it. >> On July the 3rd, 2025, a woman named Grace is detained at Target after being caught stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise. She explains she is homeless, had her belongings stolen, and was just trying to survive. >> Let's hand it in the office. If I can I can take you over that way. >> Okay. >> Is this all this stuff? >> It's all of this. Yeah. >> All of this. >> It's a total of 105359. >> 1053. 1,000. >> Yeah. 5359. >> Jesus. >> Okay. The last one was 700. Hello. What's up? What's up? >> So, what do we got? >> So, pretty much all that seen sock and I just walk out without pain. >> Okay. All right. What's your name? >> Grace. >> Grace. All right. Grace. What's going on with all this stuff here? >> I'm nearly homeless. I try to walk out just to at least have something to my name and be able to chill out. And I don't know. My phone just got broke. My wallet just got stolen. I came from a situation at my boyfriend's house. I tried to go to my mom's house. She ended up having everyone come to my room and steal from me. So, I headed down to Chicago with an old friend. Me and them ended up getting into a fight. So, now I'm here. I'm trying to make ends meet. >> Officers note most items stolen were food, drinks, and supplies consistent with someone living on the streets. Though, the receipt also shows electronics and apparel. >> It's a photocopy ID. I wish I wish I had more to my name to have my wallet be valuable, honestly. >> Okay, so it's a female um down on her luck, had a bunch of stuff stolen from her, fighting whatever with boyfriend. Uh they got a receipt of over $1,000 worth, but it's like a whole bunch of just like food items, uh drinks, just miscellaneous stuff that would literally be for a homeless person. Looks like a mat backpack. >> Police discuss options with Target. Despite the felony amount, the sergeant suggests charging her with only a local ordinance violation a ticket given her circumstances and cooperation. >> That stuff back uh just given the circumstances. >> That's what I told him over the phone. >> Okay. >> She's cooperative, but obviously up to you guys. I'm just letting you know what >> what he's suggesting we do. >> Again, just running everything by you, letting you know what the serge says and thinks. You okay with that? Okay. We'll do that. I'll see what she says. Uh got info. Most everything was like food and like Yeah. Like >> what all were you buying today? >> Nothing as you can see. >> I mean it's a lot of it's a lot of things. >> Yeah. I was going in there. >> Bunch of apparel. Bunch of electronics. >> A bunch of electronics. Let me see that real quick. >> Bring that here because I ain't I ain't touch no motherics. Y'all mother going to try to bring some [ __ ] up in my >> mother. Grace, don't get loud. All right. >> No, because at the end of the day, >> don't get loud. All right. Listen to what he has to say. >> You're trying to push authority on me. I'm not pushing authority. >> You don't try to make your voice louder than mine when you try to assert dominance. You don't you're not I'm not in your Okay. >> I'm talking the same tone as I did when I first came in here. Okay. >> I'm literally reading off this receipt that they have. >> Everything is categorized. apparel, electronics, three items, groceries, health and beauty, home, stationery and office supplies, and toys. Okay, that's all I'm reading to you. I'm just trying to talk to you. All right, I talked to my sergeant. >> He [clears throat] is more than willing to just charge with a local ordinance. >> It's a local ordinance. I don't even know what y'all are talking about. I'll explain it. >> Grace becomes agitated, arguing that without the supplies, she would be vulnerable and possibly end up dead on the streets. She grows defensive and emotional, claiming officers are trying to assert dominance. >> My tone. All right. Suggestion is that you cooperate and continue to because you have so far. >> And again, >> with the store's approval and my sergeant's approval, we can just charge you given the circumstances. homeless, >> down on your luck. We're not trying to you. Excuse my language. >> Yes, you are. If I go in those streets without some of those supplies, guess what's going to happen to me on that CTA? I'm going to be snatched up and left in a ditch. And then you're going to be the one discovering my body. How are you going to like that one? Young Grace slit open in the middle of a ditch. You don't even recognize my face because of how up I am. Cuz that's what happens to young girls. >> Officers try to cuff her and confirm her ID. Grace protests saying she wants a female deputy to pat her down. Accuses officers of invading her privacy and repeatedly refuses to cooperate. >> Okay, we're not going to put him on that tight. Trust me. Okay, I'm going to put him on your left cuz you're right-handed. >> I'm going to go back to the car, wait for the positive ID based on the picture. Um, >> hurt. >> And then as long as everything's still the same, kosher, same route. Okay. All right, I'll be back. >> But do you understand that I'm kind of in the corner and you're kind of standing above me? So this it's a little bit of an intimidating situation. So if you could please step step back a little bit, that would make me uncomfortable between us. >> Well, actually co distance is six. >> Okay. Well, >> sir, >> you're going to have to be in close proximity. [cough] [clears throat] >> I might have pneumonia and you're making me uncing comfortable. >> And that's assault. You want to assault an office? >> I'm not assaulting nobody because he's coming close. Are you Why are you >> I haven't moved. >> Why can't you stand back there? >> Would you like me to step back? >> Okay. >> All right. All right. Grace, still trying to confirm your identity. All right. How old are you? >> 25. >> 25. Okay. All right. So, what's going to happen is uh we're going to take you back to the station. We have to fingerprint you to confirm your identity. All right. Are there going to be any issues when we get your fingerprints back? You're not wanted. You're a different name. What's that? >> Not counting on it. >> Not counting on it. >> Like, are you positive or it's it's a maybe? >> All right. You guys need anything else from us right now? So, >> we just got to confirm. Is there Would you mind patting me down instead of >> as a female? >> Okay, then y'all legally can't pat me down. >> Yeah, we can. >> No, that's an invasion of my privacy. >> I'm a woman. You could touch me, grop me, and hurt me in the >> There's multiple witnesses. Cameras are on. All right. Okay. >> I I just I don't necessarily feel comfortable with a grown man's hands on top of me. >> Well, there's a lot of other people present. Obviously, I'm not going to do anything. It would just make me feel more comfortable if you got a female deputy on scene. >> All right. Well, >> a struggle breaks out when officers attempt to move her. Grace resists, screams, and accuses officers of assaulting her. She ends up on the ground restrained, claiming injuries to her wrist and face. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Are you going to make us make you stand up? >> Stand up. >> Stand up. >> Don't touch me. You about to grow my [ __ ] Don't you >> stop it. Stop it. >> HEY, YOU'RE TOUCHING MY BOOB. HE'S TRYING TO GRAB IT. HE'S TRYING TO GET me out. LET ME OUT. LET ME OUT. LET ME GET HER. Another unit. >> Any injuries? >> I'm good. >> YOU SLAP ME IN MY FACE WITH YOUR COUGH, YOU PIGS. >> GRACE, YOU injured at all? >> Yes. >> All right, we'll call the medics. You're your [ __ ] My breast back. He's changing. Grace, >> stop. >> He's going to adjust it. Stop moving. >> I got two grown men on top of me AS A YOUNG GIRL. YOU ARE HURTING ME. >> STOP. >> You good? >> Grace curses at officers, threatens them, and continues to struggle. She eventually begins praying loudly for God to strike down these evil men. Medics are called after she sustains a cut on her face. Everyone, ARE YOU ABOUT TO GET THE [ __ ] SMACK OUT OF YOU AND S OUT OF YOU, you psych? >> Okay. Are you going to calm down? >> Are you going to calm down? >> So, you're threatening me. >> Are you going to calm down? It's a question. Are you going to calm down? >> You might >> Are you going to calm down? We're not going to get you up until we're comfortable that you can remain calm. Okay. >> Well, you have a target 7,000 Nheim. in the outside. >> I refuse to speak to you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Which is fine. >> You still got a job to do. >> You good? >> Is that from her? >> I think that's from her. >> Okay. >> You bleeding anywhere? >> Yeah. She's got a cut on her face. >> On her face? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. Norcom 301. Do we have medicine? >> We have medicine. >> 104. You can advise for a psych and a female offender bleeding from the face and just document that there was a physical altercation with this subject. My car that's my terrible car. Oh my god. [laughter and gasps] [laughter] >> Grace, freeze. Grace, >> calm down. Calm down through your nose. Out your mouth. Grace. My lips. >> Calm down. We'll grab them. [laughter] We'll grab them. Okay. [screaming] GRACE, >> take a deep breath. >> Grace refuses medical help without a female paramedic. Continuing to demand female staff, officers conclude she should at least face resisting arrest charges. >> Sit right here. Okay. >> All right. Can you stretch out your legs for me? >> Thank you, baby girl. >> Okay, sit back. >> It's okay. Baby girl >> here. I'm going to borrow that leg really quick. >> A little bit here. >> Just some just some straps for safety. I need a girl. >> We don't We don't have a woman paramedic available right now. Okay. >> Hey, what's your name? >> I need a girl. I need a girl. >> We don't have a female paramedic. I don't feel comfortable. >> So, where did Who got struck where? >> Uh, didn't really I I don't think I really got struck. >> She just kind of slammed me backwards. She pushed her legs up totally resisted the wall, but >> I don't think she really struck me or anything. I don't know. >> I'm just trying to see if we need to charge her. That's what I'm saying. >> Yeah. >> If anything, I'm I would think resisting. I >> final outcome. Grace is arrested and charged with felony theft, resisting arrest, and obstruction. Grace faces serious legal trouble. Felony theft can lead to heavy fines, probation, or several years in prison, depending on the value stolen. Stealing out of desperation still leads to serious legal consequences. Staying calm and cooperative can prevent a bad situation from becoming far worse. [laughter] >> On May 24th, 2025, police respond to a retail store after an 18-year-old woman is caught attempting to steal merchandise valued at over $1,000. >> Where you going to? >> I want to speak to my dad first, and I need my phone cuz I don't have his phone number. The suspect refuses to provide her identity until she can speak to her dad. Officers explain she has no legal right to withhold identification and will face more charges if she doesn't comply. >> Okay. You need to identify yourself. So, put your information on the piece of paper. >> And we will call your dad. >> Yeah. Okay. You're 17. It's not how it works. You are not free to go and you're not free to do whatever you want. You need to identify yourself. We will call your dad, but you don't have the right to not identify yourself until your dad talks to you. Okay? You don't have that right. Just making that clear. If you don't want to identify yourself now, that's fine. We will charge you with something else. You are required to identify yourself. You are not free to go. You have to identify yourself. You can think about that. Um, yeah, >> she's in here. She doesn't want to give her information till she talks to her dad. I explained to her she doesn't have that right. >> Store staff confirmed the theft, begin scanning items, and state they want to press charges. >> Maybe she wrote it down. I don't know. >> He's in there. He's scanning everything. All this stuff he's >> What's going on, man? >> Hey, no seat. >> I know. What's going on? >> Got a little crew up in the house. >> So, what's going on, man? Uh, but I can pull up the video for you guys. There's a lot of stuff. I still got scanned in to get the totem, but it was the female. She's right over here. >> Officers explain the importance of cooperation, reminding her that she is now legally an adult and could face multiple charges if uncooperative. >> All right. Do you know your parents number? Anybody's >> I know my phone number. I can call it and ask him to get my dad's number. >> Who's him? >> Boyfriend. >> Okay. Cuz we need to contact somebody. What's your date of birth? Here, here's the thing, okay? The more difficult you make this, the more charges that you're going to get on yourself. And the more difficult you're going to make this >> way charges. >> Okay, but here's the thing. One charge is better than multiple charges. Do you see what I'm saying? Okay, you're how old? Just turned 18. >> You just turned 18. Okay. So, as an adult, okay, having one charge versus multiple charges, right, and showing that you're uncooperative >> is a different listen. I I understand that, but I just I understand that. But here's the thing. You're saying you're an adult, you're 18 years old. Technically, we don't have to give you the opportunity to talk to your dad. You're an adult. You can talk to him at the jail. >> Okay? But it's also dependent upon how cooperative you are with us. We're not trying to >> She eventually provides her name, Zion Torres, date of birth, and explains she is homeless, having recently [music] left her sister's home. Officers reassure her they are not out to harm her. >> G O R R E S. >> Okay. And then what is your date of birth? >> 12:06. >> 1206. Okay. And then what is where do you live at? Um, so I I used to live down in Miami with my mom. >> Okay. >> But I wanted to move out. Okay. >> So I moved in with my sister. >> Okay. >> And then me and my sister had a problem. >> Okay. >> So now I'm not living anywhere. >> Okay. You don't have a place where you lay your head? >> No. Where where are you staying in the meantime? >> I just been working at night and trying to stay up. >> Okay. It's okay. Listen, I you're probably scared cuz you've probably never been in this situation before, right? Okay. But take a deep breath. We're not Nobody's going to hurt you. Nobody's going to do anything bad to you, but we understand that bad decisions happen. You're still very young. Okay. That's why we're trying to help you out here. Okay. Um >> there's no like >> What's your No, it's okay. What's your phone number so we can try and get dad's phone number? >> [snorts] >> Um 682 464. >> But that's your phone number. >> Officers obtain her father's contact information and confirm the total stolen merchandise was $1,214, [music] making the crime a felony grand theft. >> No. Okay. But you have a Florida driver's license. There you go. Thank you. [snorts] makes it much more easier for us. Okay, let me just make sure that you ever been arrested before. Never. Okay. [snorts] 2006. Okay, give us one second. [clears throat] She's an adult. >> Hey, we're trying to get a hold of uh whoever has Zion's phone to get her dad's phone number. >> All right. You want to see a video? Um, >> this is Orlando police as well. >> Hold on. >> Here. You want to talk to him and just try and get your dad's number, please? >> Um, I need Andy's phone number. >> Okay, hold on. >> Who's Andy, your dad? Does he go by Andy? calling Andy as a joke. >> 954. >> Where are you at? >> Obviously in the back of the store. >> She is formally arrested, searched, and photographed with officers warning her not to bring any contraband into jail. >> All right. Thank you. >> You're welcome. I'm I'm going to pull it up for you right now. I got the property card printed out as well. $1,214 total. >> $214. >> This is already felony. All right. M stand up. Yeah. >> Being placed under arrest. For grant that you have anything on you that's going to stick as anything with the nature. Okay. Our partners careful [snorts] careful. [cough] She's got skinny skinny hands to make sure that you can they're not going to come off. Post them off. Can I get a photo before you got >> We're just searching her. [laughter] Face the wall for me. >> Okay. >> Doing your search. Okay. Before you get in the vehicle, the vehicle's been searched prior and will be searched after. Anything is found in the vehicle, it's going to be on you. >> Is there anything that you have on you stuffed in you and your pants and your shirt and your socks that you >> I'm not wearing any undergarments. >> Okay. Well, I'm just asking you. You have anything on you that you shouldn't have on you? Cuz anything you produce into the jails have to be charged. >> No, I don't have anything. >> Okay. [snorts] >> Hold on. Hold on. What are you doing? Hold on. He's sending photos, right? >> Yes. >> He just said it. So, where are we taking her? >> Taking any pictures? >> Yeah. It's not. >> I don't know why you think you're in charge of any of this. You're not. >> You have no options. >> You're going to jail. Going to be online. Like all this is happening. >> Just look at the camera for a moment if you don't mind. So, >> thanks. >> And you can call your dad from the jail. >> I got to print out another one for you. This is >> Thank you. Your son right there. Right here. The woman is booked and charged with grand theft in the third degree. Officers remind her she can call her father from jail. Cooperating with police can prevent a bad situation from becoming worse. Stealing may seem small at the moment, but felony charges can change your entire future. If you like this video, please sign up for Law Zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> Okay. But for sure you have one more. One's for failure to pay fines and then the other one we don't think yet. >> Uh as far as I'm concerned, that's the only one. >> On April 23rd, 2023 in Roswell, an officer spots a white Chevy hatchback that screams, "We just left Walmart without paying." And pulls it over. Two women inside instantly go for the classic who us no way defense. Hello. I'm offic Police Department. The reason I'm stopping you is do you guys have a little incident at Walmart right now at all? >> No. >> You guys weren't coming from Walmart? No. >> Okay. >> Okay. Do you have your driver's license? The reason I'm here is cuz they had a shop looking okay. They described a white hatchback Chevy. Kind of what you have. >> Oh, okay. Well, >> okay. Were you up there at all? >> Uh, no. >> Okay. 33. Quick one. >> Can you We have an ID on you, ma'am. >> Yeah. >> Do you have one, too? >> Uh, no. No. >> You don't have one? >> No. No. >> Okay. >> We don't have nothing to sell anything. >> Okay. So, you weren't at Walmart at all? >> Yeah, we were. We didn't sell nothing. >> Okay. Well, just cuz you didn't steal anything doesn't mean that's not a problem. Okay. >> Hello. >> What's up? >> Hey, Damian's office. >> Walmart loss prevention confirms the description and says the pair were pulling the old barcode swap trick, turning $20 items into $2 bargains. The officer decides it's field trip time back to Walmart for review. >> Tell how you doing? I got the car. I got the girls. Okay. Was it the girl in the light the the light blue like dress? >> Yeah, it was. Yeah. Kimo in a light blue dress and white female wearing a denim shorts and a black jacket >> with a red top. >> Yeah. >> Did they have a third friend with them that's kind of on the larger side? >> No. They're the only two that we saw in the store. They're the only two we saw get in the vehicle. >> Okay. And they they were swapping barcodes and whatnot? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Um I'll be up there shortly. Okay. I'm going to detain these guys right here and I'm going to take them up there. I'm going to look at that um the footage. Okay. And then we'll move forward from there. All right. If you can just get all that prepared for me. >> Right on. >> And then uh we'll address it. All right. Yep. >> Sounds good. Thank you. >> Awesome. >> Bye. >> Take care. >> Let me get this driver out. Can you step out the car for me, ma'am? >> For what? >> Cuz I'm telling you to step back here for me. Okay. Can you put your phone in the car? >> Yeah. >> Put your hands right back from your foot. >> Am I getting arrested? >> At this point in time, you're distained. Okay. Relax. A quick check reveals one suspect has an active warrant. The officer mentions they'll also peek at Walmart's greatest hits on camera to confirm the scam. >> Relax. >> Hang on. Okay. You want me to roll the window down? >> Let's go to the front of the car for me. Okay. Go ahead and face the car for me. So, I'm going to be straight up with you. You got a warrant. Okay. >> Let me see your Let me see your hands. Put your hands behind your back for me. >> So, you have a warrant. Okay. Also, we're going to address this uh Walmart. Okay. >> Get in there for me. >> Watch your hand. There you go. All right. Hang tight. All right. >> Ameilia, how old are you? I'm >> 19. >> 19. Have you ever been in trouble before? >> No. >> No. Okay. So, this was going on. Okay. There's an incident that happened at Walmart. Okay. We're going to talk about it. Okay. >> Am I going to go to jail? >> Let me explain. Okay, with that being said, okay, the car cuz I got to take you to Walmart. I got to look at this footage to ensure that it's you and what happened. Okay. Are you okay with her parking the car right here at one of the parking stalls and waiting until we figure out entirely what's going on? >> Yeah. Can you take it to my desk? >> Park it there for right now. We'll I'll swing back through and let you know what all happens. Okay. So, here's what's going on. Okay. I'm going to read you something, okay? For me to talk to you. >> The first suspect cracks admitting to swapping tags, but politely suggesting they just pay now and forget this [music] whole thing happened. Spoiler, that's not how retail theft works. I got to read you this. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. >> Having read those rights, do you understand your rights? I understand your rights. You willing to talk to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, clearly you're at Walmart, right? >> Yeah. >> You guys went in there. It was just you and >> Can I pay for all the stuff that >> Listen, it was you and Tammy, right? >> That went in there cuz she stayed in the car, right? >> Well, yeah, we all went in there. Then she went >> Oh, she just didn't walk with you guys. >> No. >> Huh? >> No. >> Okay. So, you and Tammy kind of walked together within this store? >> Yeah. Y'all were switching barcodes on things? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, I I don't even know the items. What were the items that you guys were switching? >> Clothes. Trying to just swap the the clothes out for cheap items. >> Yeah. >> Were you guys going to pay for the items at the cheaper rate? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> But can I pay for all the stuff? >> Let me Let me So, here's what's going to happen. Okay. I do have to take you to Walmart. I have to see the footage and confirm that it is you. Okay. Right now, I I believe it to be you. Okay. We've talked. I mean, clearly you were there. I'm going to look at the footage. Okay. I'm going to talk with Walmart. They do want to press charges. Okay. But if they want to work out some kind of different deal or something like that, then that's that's going to be their behalf. Okay? If they they're like, I want to press charges, then we're going to have to address that. How we have to address that. Okay. >> How is it? >> Huh? >> It either be jail or a citation. Okay. So, I'm going to have to talk with Tammy. Okay. >> I can pay for all the stuff. >> Okay. Just hang on. Okay. >> How old are you? >> I'm 18. >> 18. Okay. The second suspect claims she was just shopping for a baby shower, but Walmart staff insist she forgot to scan pants and swap tags on other items. >> I just wanted to make sure. >> Um, sit back for me and then look that way. >> So, for sure you have one warrant. You might also have another one. So, you might have two warrants. Okay. But for sure you have one warrant. One's for failure to pay fines and then the other one we don't know yet. >> Uh, as far as I'm concerned, that's the only warrant I have. bus cuz uh I had talked to the judge and he said I had a 90-day thing. I paid the mark and then they called me early April saying that I didn't pay and I told him that I did and then she told me that I would just have to talk to the judge. So that's what I was waiting on. >> Yeah. So you're that one is for you to pay fines and then my dispatch is confirming right now to see if you have a second one at a state police. Okay. So just hang tight. >> Okay. So here's what happened. Okay. I'm going to read you something. Okay. So, it's for me to be able to talk to you about the stuff that happened at Walmart. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. [laughter] >> Do you understand your rights? >> Yes. >> Understand your rights. You willing to speak to me? >> Uh, yeah. >> Okay. Clearly, you guys are at Walmart. You and Amelia were in the store together walking around. Okay. Were you guys switching barcodes on clothes and stuff? >> Um, no. >> No. Okay. So, if I go look at the video footage, it's not going to show that. >> Okay. So, what were you guys doing in the store then? >> Um, well, I have a baby shower at right now. So, we're just going to look for more diapers and other stuff that I could possibly gift to. >> Okay. And um what happened with Walmart where they're pretty much stopped you guys from taking whatever you guys had? >> Um they didn't take anything. We were uh going to scan and I guess I don't know what happened or something about pants. So, the lady had said that we had only uh t-shirt scan that we didn't scan the pants. So, she was like, "All right, well, what about pants?" And then she was like, "Well, this you don't have the right barcode on it." And she was like, and I asked, I was like, "Okay, well, is there like another pair? Like, can we go get another parent, swap it out, you know, possibly get another tag?" >> And she was like, "Uh, she radioed someone." Uh, and then we were just like, "It's okay. Never mind. We're just going to go." >> Okay. So, they Okay, so here's what's going to happen. Okay. We're going to take you guys to Walmart. Okay. I got to look at this footage and confirm one that it's both YouTube, okay? And whether or not you you shoplifted or not. Okay? So, if there's no bar switching or anything like that or where what you're doing is reasonable in nature in terms of trying to scan the stuff, then we'll address that. Okay. However, if the video does show that, you know, you're trying to switch tags, you're clearly not trying to pay for items. Okay. We're going to have to address that. Okay. All right. Hang on. Okay. We're have to go to Walmart. Okay. Now, everybody wants to be shopping. Like two other ones came out, huh? >> Just one clos shop. I don't know if it's true or not. Okay. I'm going with you, man. >> Yeah. Follow me. [music] [singing] >> [music] >> All right, hold on. Let me hop in here and figure out what [music] >> I got both of them. So >> cool. >> So she notices label switch with this. The diapers are okay. She says she was just trying to go get stuff for a baby shop. >> The officer watches the footage and sees the women scanning a couple items then bagging the rest for free. The hall includes makeup diapers and discount pants via creative pricing. >> That's literally what she was talking about. Ameilia, >> I watched the video. I saw the entire thing. Right. You scan you scan two items and then you just start reaching across and put them in the bags. Okay. There you weren't attempting to scan them. It's not what it looks like at all. Okay. Home girl has makeup and all kinds of stuff in the cart. Okay. You give her a bag. She starts putting in that bag. Never even left the cart to be attempted to scan. Okay. Who put the the the different barcodes on the diapers? >> I'm not sure. >> Okay. You're not sure? >> Yeah. It might I don't know cuz we're just grabbing things. >> You're just grabbing things. Okay. >> Yeah. Those diapers are for um >> So, let for a baby shower. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, let me ask you this. Okay. You have the money to pay for the items. >> Yeah. But why are we why are we trying to get a fast one in Walmart? >> I don't know. >> Like why? >> You see what I'm saying? Like if you have the money to to take care of your business, right? Is is it worth all this trouble we're in right now? >> You got the cops involved. You could have just bought your stuff and been on your way to this baby shower. I'm sure that's where you're going to, right? >> Okay. But now we're here and we got the cops involved with something that you could have paid for. >> Can I pay for it all now? >> I can pop in there and talk with them. If they decline that, then that's going to be their decision. Okay. I'll ask them. Okay, I I'll I'll ask them if they they're okay with that. They may say no. That's all I had to ask. I I had to ask cuz she's like, "I have the money. I'll pay for it." I was like, "No, we we we never ever take that." >> Okay. And that's all I need to know. So, here's what's going to happen. Okay. Blue dressed girl is going to jail for sure. >> Walmart rejects the let us pay now offer. The officer decides both women will face shoplifting charges plus the warrants. >> She has warrants. She's going to go to jail for the shoplifting. Okay. I'm going to take the other one to jail for shoplifting, too. Cool. So, they're both going to jail for shoplifting. >> Thank you guys. Thank you guys for a good description on the car, too. >> It was literally like a beam of light over their car. It was like Chevy hatchback white. And I'm like, okay. I'm driving down Maine. Inside Sebald, they uncovered what could only be described as a treasure chest of stolen goods, confirming the teen's shoplifting spree. >> This is what we got in the back so far. Did you Did they take Crocs from you guys? >> Yes. >> All right. So, these are a bunch of Crocs here. [music] I got I still got to go inside here. So, I don't know what else they might have taken. >> It's probably just all this that was in the back seat with them cuz I don't think they open the trunk. But when she learned it was gone, she completely melted down, adding yet another dramatic twist to her case. >> Hi. You remember me? >> I do. You get under me? >> Yes. >> My cell phone. >> So, we got to the bottom of it. Okay. When all the commotion was taking place, the phone was placed on top of the >> Oh, hell no. When the officer searched her bag, it was packed not only with food, but also filled with needles. I didn't use her name. I don't know what the name is. >> Well, I don't know what name you are. >> Hold on. Wait. Fart. Put that back. >> No. Uh-uh. >> That's for the fool. What are you talking about? >> Don't matter. It's not yours. [screaming] I got permission to use that. >> Okay. You will sit there and rot until you tell them your name. You understand me? We're not doing this. You can be in and out real quick if you just give us your name and your information. If you want to play games, I will send their there's Jane Doe. You will rot all weekend. I guarantee you will start feeling the itch when you're in there. >> I don't want to go to jail. >> Okay, I know you don't want to go to jail. We're beyond that. You could not have gone to jail if you just would have stopped right there and we put handcuffs on you, but you did not want to do that. All right, that's not how things are done. What is your name? >> This is where you talk. >> My name is Dar. >> There you go. >> What's your last name? >> What's your last name? Come on, man. Please. >> Come on. >> Although she eventually gave officers a different first name, she still refused to provide her last name. After being escorted to the back of the squad car, she continued to deny that the needles were for illegal drug use, insisting they were for an old anxiety medication that had been stolen. With her story full of holes, the officers returned to the gas station to get the staff side of what really happened. >> Bag. >> Yeah. >> You know what I'm saying? I'm like cuz I know you know and then when and then she had pain. Get out of here weirdo. And then she proceeded to shove me and I kind of went back you know and it took everything in me. I'm major here so I can't like >> Yeah. >> You know and I know they tell us not to confront them but it's like >> I I get tired of it. >> I got I agree with you 100%. >> So but I don't want her back in my store. >> Well, she's going to jail because she took off running for me and much other nonsense. But >> okay. >> Either way, um the other officers I don't know. Can you guys put these back in the shelf or >> Yeah, as long as she ain't got them open. The donuts I can't. >> Right. >> But with this stuff, I can't. >> Before being loaded into the back of a police van for transport to jail, the woman made one last attempt to avoid arrest, insisting they couldn't take her in because they didn't have her name. But as the officer had pointed out earlier, if she had just cooperated from the start, she likely would have walked away with nothing more than a court summon. Step on that face. >> I can't eat my food. They take everything from me. >> All right. Scoot up. >> All right. Just follow what I say. Okay. >> I didn't resist. They never even said, "Right." >> Okay. Well, right now I'll tell you that you have the right to tell me that after y'all to tase me. >> You don't have to say anything make any statements. You can stop talking. >> We're here right now. >> You don't have to say a word. >> All right. >> Get your screen. All right. >> You'll be all right. >> You're going right over there. You're going to step on the metal detector. >> The suspect was hit with multiple charges, including resisting arrest, misrepresenting her identity, obstructing official business, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. In the end, she was sentenced to 270 days in jail with 244 of those days suspended. Cooperation can go a long way. Refusing it only makes things worse. Lying to avoid consequences often leads to even bigger ones. What an unyielding shoplitter. The next Karen one will react much more violently.
