Stop. I got I'm blind. >> I'm going to have you step set up, >> babe. I'm blind. >> Okay. >> And I have a baby. >> Come on. >> Yes, I am. >> Please, please don't >> just face the vehicle. >> Please, please don't. >> This isn't going to turn into a fight. >> Please, please don't arrest me. >> You'd have to be pretty foolish to try shoplifting in the first place. But the criminals in today's video take that foolishness to a whole new level. Don't expect any criminal masterminds here. Their attempts to outwit the police are about as effective as using a screen door on a submarine. Now, >> what about my bike? >> Store staff recognize a familiar face, a repeat shoplifter previously caught on video leaving in unpaid clothing. This time, they monitor him closely as he cuts tags, damages merchandise, and heads to the register while already wearing items he hasn't paid for. Hello. >> He is in my line right now, but I'm going to go ahead and see if he'll buy his items so that way we can get him trespassed. >> Yeah, he already trespassed. >> Oh, no. >> I do have a video of him walking out though wearing our clothes. Um, and then he came in right now and I had noticed him and I sent it to my manager. I was like, "Do we know this person?" Like the main manager. And he was like, "Oh yeah, that's the guy that walked out wearing our clothes." And um >> what was that? >> Let me look. I have the video. >> Was it within the last month or so? >> Not in the last month, I don't think. I think it was like [Music] and then he was trying to cut hard times off. I do have it on video as well. >> Today. Yeah. Did he cut any? >> Um I'm I'm not sure if he got it off or not >> or damage it. >> I'm sure he damaged the clothes. Yeah, >> he damaged the clothes. >> Yeah, you could see him going with the scissors. >> Oh, do you want to pursue charges? >> Um, sure. Yeah, you could do that. I don't know if I'm able to pursue from the last one, too, but >> Well, if you have video of today, we can go with that. >> All right. Yeah, I will go ahead and pull it up. Or if you got the clothes, take with >> Oh, no. He's in line with it right now. >> Staff discuss with police whether to let him pay or move forward with charges, pointing to surveillance footage showing him in stolen clothes. >> Oh, he's in line with a half. >> Yeah. >> You want to let him pay for the clothes? >> Yeah, we can let him pay for it. I mean, if he's going to pay for it, pay for it. that. [Music] [Music] >> Oh, so she pays for the clothes. You just want them trespassed. >> Yes. >> Okay. So that's him walking out. Those are our proofs on him. He's wearing our jacket. >> When confronted, the suspect insists he did pay for the shoes on his feet, but the receipt doesn't match. After some back and forth, he admits he already put them on and is detained. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, I know these are your shoes. >> Yeah, those are our shoes you're wearing. You cut them off. >> No, I just paid for them, man. >> No, you didn't, >> man. For these, man. I don't see the shoes on here. >> Where are the other shoes you had in your cart? The blue ones. >> Which ones? I don't have no blue ones. >> I don't know why you're trying to >> dude. I just paid for my stuff, man. >> And then what about the last time you were here? >> I ma'am, I haven't been here in over a year. >> So, you said you just paid for those shoes? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. And you put them on already? >> Yeah. I don't What's wrong with it? >> Look, it's just kind of weird. Are there shoes on? >> Cuz you didn't I don't see. >> Yeah, there's no >> I haven't even walked out of the store or nothing, man. >> I get you, bro. I get you. Just put your hand behind your back right now. >> Officers explain he'll face at least a criminal citation and possibly more if warrants are found. The suspect reluctantly removes the stolen shoes and changes back into his own. >> As long as you're clear, um, you know, I can see about the criminal uh citation. Okay. Okay. But at the very least, it's going to be a criminal citation. >> Yeah. >> At uh you you've been in meeting court. >> Are you going to come back or you go at 135 East? >> It's been a long time. >> Been a long time. Okay. Look, like I said, at the least criminal citation. Okay. At the most DC, but figured that out. And can you take those shoes off? >> Thank you. Do you remember how much they were? >> They were 24. >> 24. Okay. You have an idea, Mr. Go look at the video. >> Oh, it's you. >> I'm going to take my unit real quick. >> I can't get my shoes. >> Huh? >> My shoes. >> Identified as Hector. Officers note he's calmer than during previous encounters. A background check reveals four active warrants, felony larseny, municipal shoplifting, and unpaid fines. >> You know, we all pay for our stuff. You know what I mean? If I pay for my stuff, I expect other people to pay for their stuff. >> What was your first name? >> Hector. >> Hector. Uh, if you don't have a warrant, then >> I probably >> then we'll do the citation. >> Probably. >> But if you got a warrant, then I got to act on a warrant. >> No phone. You said >> no. I got a warrant. I got >> uh I'm running here right now. This time you were a lot more chill than the last time I dealt with you. I'm already getting old. >> Huh? >> I'm already getting old. >> Yeah. The last time when? >> I don't know. It was a little while ago. >> Wasn't recent. Long time ago. It was a little bit ago. My mom has said that uh I don't know if she at her house. >> Officers collect his belongings including a bicycle and arrange to deliver them to his mother's house for safekeeping. >> Here for shoplifting >> here for me. Those might be the ones you were thinking about. Um so yeah, we'll wait for the total. Okay, for now I can. Well, we'll wait for the shoes still forget. >> You think I can finish my coat? >> Wrong foot. Yeah. 42272. >> Now, what about my bike? While waiting, Hector politely asks for food and water. Officers provide beef jerky and a drink, noting his cooperative demeanor. >> Still get my jerky, please. >> Yeah. Yeah. Just let me have you have a seat and then I'll I'll get you a piece or two. >> All right. Just bear with me. Okay. >> Yeah. I'm going to see if I can just drop this off at his mom's house. Maybe we can drop the bike there. I think you think we can drop the bike off at mom's house. You love >> maybe? Yeah. >> Who lives at uh Defiance? >> My mom. >> Your mom? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Uh, are you cool with your mom? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Uh, do you want to see if we can drop this stuff off with your mom or you just want to send her for safety? >> Yeah, you can drop it off. >> Defiance, right? That's what I gave you. >> Yeah, pretty sure. >> Yeah, you can just drop it off. >> Yeah, she's going to be there. >> She should. Her and my aunt uh Stella. >> Okay. Stella. Anyone else? >> No, just them too. >> Okay. If they're not there, you just want to leave it there or just >> Yeah, just leave it there in the um >> side. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Can I get a little piece of the jerky? >> Yeah. Yeah. Give me a little >> I haven't eaten all day. I >> He opens up about his struggles, homelessness, drug addiction, blues, recovery from surgery, and past experiences of being targeted in violent incidents. He admits shoplifting has been his way of surviving. Yolanda. >> Yolanda. Okay. >> Uh yeah. Um >> you know this um a couple of months back. I don't know if you know him. He works for Metro. >> He asked me to think about I'm ready to get off these blues and get out of here, man. >> Yeah. and tell him that I can help him, that I'm willing to do that. >> Yeah. >> If you can just help him get out of here, I can give him what he needs and just like his kids and my sister. >> Where were they at? >> Tucson. I'm tired. >> Yeah. >> I'm homeless. >> Running into the same [ __ ] with the blue. I just had surgery about a month and a half ago. They took out my appendix and a piece of my spleen and that's it. >> Yeah. Appreciate you. >> I was already saying that. >> He said, uh, hold on. He said, uh, if they're not home, you can just leave it on the side. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. You're saying >> and just >> Yeah. A couple of days ago, I called my mom. I have my stepmom in my room on their sisters. >> No. >> I called my stepmom and I told her they were already going to catch me. It was It's I mean, they had been close. They had been looking for me right there on Lion or whatever it is. >> Okay. Yeah. >> I called her that day. I just met him. That guy owns the house or lives there and he told me that you guys were looking for me. So that day I called my mom and I told her that they were going to catch me sooner or later. >> Yeah. >> But I told her about what that guy had said. >> She said to do what I got to do and just head out of here for >> Yeah. >> I forgot his name, but I'm pretty sure you know him. He drives that uh silver Ford four-door. >> I don't know. That's kind of the kind of the gambit they have there. who he is. >> I can make calls though. I know people there. >> Yeah. He pulled me over one time when I was living at the >> How long ago? >> It's been a while, but I was I was staying over there at the Donian apartments, but they beat the [ __ ] out of me. >> Hector expresses regret, insisting he's not a bad person. He acknowledges shoplifting is wrong, but says desperation drives his actions. >> Yeah, I can do that. Yeah, like I said, I know some people I can make calls. [Music] >> Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. >> Well, you can keep talking. Uh I'm going to be in the front and start all the paperwork. Okay. Yeah. I just have you lean back. Put the seat belt on. Sorry. You're going through all that. Man, >> that's not an experience, but it's just >> No, it's not. But >> I've been out of prison for 3 years. That's the longest I've ever been out. >> [ __ ] >> I just got homeless and got hard. I I shoplift to survive. It's not right. >> Yeah. >> I admit it's it's not I've worked my whole life. I know what it is, you know, to provide. >> I don't, you know, I don't know it personally, but I can see where you're coming from. You know, they has no excuse. You know, crime's a shitty thing to do in any regard, but you know, >> you got your struggles. >> Anything. I'm sorry. You know, I don't I don't mean to I'm not a bad guy, man. >> Yeah, I hear you. Watch your name. Yep. Hector was detained for shoplifting, caught wearing unpaid merchandise, damaging items, and cutting tags. That alone would normally result in at least a criminal citation for shoplifting. But the bigger issue is his four active warrants felony larseny. Municipal shoplifting, unpaid fines. Stealing may seem like a quick fix, but it only leads to deeper trouble and consequences. Honesty and responsibility are always the better path, no matter how hard life gets. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> Your poncho. >> Is this yours? >> You mind if I look in here? Get this. >> Deputies respond to a shoplifting call at Target involving a family of three generations. The 17-year-old daughter was spotted concealing cosmetics while her mother and grandmother slipped bottles of wine and champagne into bags. >> How's it going? >> What's up, Taylor? >> Hello. What's going on? This is what she took. >> Security explains that the teen was caught first, but camera footage quickly revealed her mom and grandma were also concealing items inside a purse, shopping bags, and a black backpack. >> Yeah. So, her parents tell you want to briefly. >> Yeah. So, this young lady had this stuff inside of that green bag and >> a backpack over here. >> Okay. >> She just decided to walk out. I stopped her, escorted her back here. More information reveals she's with mom and grandma here. >> Okay. >> Mom and grandma did not see me bringing her from points of sale through here. >> Okay. >> So, they're completely out of the loop on that. Um, on camera, the mom is putting stuff in her bag/backpack as well. I don't know if she walked out with it or not when we escorted her back here. That's where our focus went. So, um, it looks like the mom is potentially walking around looking for her who's obviously detained in here. >> Alcohol. >> I don't drink that. My parents do. I don't drink that. I don't drink that. I don't even drink anything. >> But you put it in your backpack. >> My grandma. My My mom first and then My My mom first and then my grandma did. >> They both put that in. >> They put it in your backpack. Yes. >> H >> I just don't drink this. This is my mom and my dad and like but my grandma doesn't really drink it a lot of alcohol. She doesn't drink a lot. >> She was putting stuff in her backpack. Mom's putting stuff in her backpack. Grandma's putting stuff in her backpack. So, we're trying to find out where mom is now in the store so I can go get mom and bring her in here. I guess we'll just take everyone to go. >> Is that grandma in the >> No, mom already gave the cart to grandma. Grandma's waiting by the car. Mom's wandering in the store looking. >> The mother pushed a cart of unpaid merchandise out toward the parking lot while grandma slipped away with wine hidden in the backpack. >> Come on in here. >> Step on in here. Huh? Does that look familiar? >> Looks familiar. >> Yeah, it looks very familiar, doesn't it? Why don't you go ahead and have a seat? Actually, go have a seat right over there. Deputies confront Grandma, who claims the alcohol was meant as Christmas gifts. Later, the mother is located and both women deny paying, insisting they had simply misplaced their wallet. >> You got any ID on you? >> No. >> You don't have any ID? >> No. >> Do you have a driver's license? >> I know. In the car. >> It's in the car. >> Okay. >> What's up with this? >> Just for the gift. >> You're going to gift it to somebody? There's a lot of wine. No. >> 60 bucks on this one. >> It's a good gift. So people just >> There's no um It's just unusual for someone to get that much wine. That's why we're asking. >> No, no. This is just a Christmas gifts for friends and the family in the office. >> Got it. You're a nurse, right? >> Yeah. >> Hello, Miss Tamara. >> Yes. >> How are you? >> I'm fine, thank you. >> You need to come with me. >> Uh >> yep. I have your I have your I have Yolina and your granddaughter. Come on. You can come with me. I'll take this. Come on. Okay. >> Come on. >> Excuse me. All right. I'm just going to stand right over there. Stand right over there. >> Do you guys have any receipts for anything today? Did anybody pay for anything at this store today? >> You didn't pay for anything? >> No. >> So, you just walked out with all this? >> This is the from the from the store. >> You didn't pay for any of it? >> No, we just because of the wallet was in Morocco. That's it. H that's not a really good excuse. >> That's what I waited. >> Yeah, >> you should have waited inside the store with the stuff though. >> That's That's my fault. I'm so sorry. >> Is this your backpack or was this backpack belong to Target? >> No, this is not a Target backpack. >> A search of the backpack turns up multiple bottles of wine and champagne. Both women continue to deny any intent to resell, claiming it was strictly for family use. I don't think it's a crazy question to ask. >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. No, it's not. >> It's not from >> Walmart. >> I'm gonna open it up and look inside of it. Okay. >> Poncho. Is this your poncho? >> Is this yours? >> No. >> You mind if I look in here? Get this stuff out. Can I get this stuff out? Our stuff there? >> Oh, wow. There's a lot. >> You're telling me there's no resale? No resale, guys. I'm telling you, there is no resale. This is $10. $10 $9. >> Is there anything else in this backpack? >> Nothing. >> Okay, I'm going to put it on the bottom here. >> Yeah, >> there's two uh drinks down there on the bottom, too. There's stuff on the very bottom. And you're going with the healthy free range. >> Yeah, the good stuff. >> Not um not the black box, though. Yeah, >> I would like to apologize. >> No, you don't have to apologize to me. You didn't steal anything from me. >> No, like anyway, >> everyone always wants to apologize after they get caught. >> All right, I will get a receipt for you guys. >> Okay, you want to stand out with the other two? I'll question mom. So, >> under questioning, the mother admits she had placed bottles of alcohol in both her daughters and her mother's bags. She says they were meant for gifts and parties but concedes she couldn't afford the expensive brands. Talk >> me through what happened. >> This is last time. This is this is the first time and the last time I just >> Okay. Well, there's a whole lot of stuff regardless. We we'll get to that. Okay. >> Talk talk me through what happened. You came to Target. What happened? >> I came to Target. Then we uh you know I said uh maybe some uh visiting mom you know that's just uh getting black Friday it's a >> just opportunity to get some um gift for the family for the >> business as I said business partners >> okay >> because we have a party usually you know Christmas party and uh other you know just get back um after family holidays. So being said that what's the best you know just for the bottle to have the wine. It's not a heart or any anything. Just a champagne. That's it. >> But when you get things at a store, you know you're supposed to pay for them, right? >> Of course. Of course. Of course. This is unquestionable. It's >> So, let me ask you this. Why? Let me let me ask you this. Why were you putting alcoholic beverages in your 17-year-old daughter's backpack? >> Because Yeah. I'm idiot. >> Okay. Because I am idiot. One more time. This is I'm not saying that this is the worst. This is the worst punishment. >> I I I could have said it on worse. Worse for me. >> Because of her. >> Because of who? >> Because of >> your daughter. Okay. So, you put a bunch of bottles of wine and champagne in your daughter's backpack. Then you put a bunch of wine and champagne. Is that your bag or is that your mom's bag that you put them in? >> No, this is the old just floating bags. >> Huh? >> I mean, just from her house bags, >> right? But was it a bag you were carrying or was it a bag your mom was carrying? >> Which one? The one that was in the cart >> on on the cart. That's hers. >> So you put them in her cart in her bag and you put them in your daughter's bag. >> Yes. >> I'm not lying. >> No, I'm I'm I'm not saying >> I'm honest. I'm truly honest. This is my worst. >> Okay. You understand? I have a hard time believing that you're truly honest because >> No, I'm truly honest. >> You just stole almost $400 worth of things from Target. Yes. >> That's not real honest, right? >> No, it's not. >> Okay. So, understand my >> stealing. I understand. >> Understand my my confusion about being honest then. All right. >> No, it doesn't matter which bag because this is this is as I said from the here from the from from home. >> Right. And I'm not even talking about the bag. I'm talking about all the things that you stole and put in the bags. >> Yes. This is the worst you can do, you know, in front of your child. Do you have money to pay for the items? >> Really? No. >> No, you don't have the money. >> Of course, I can afford like three bottles, >> but not this that kind of champagne. >> Oh, yeah. It's really expensive, which is makes it even worse that you're saying you can't afford it, yet you're going to steal it. >> I know they're your family, but them asking me to do things that are wrong isn't like that's going to get you in trouble. >> I understand. >> Do you Like, do you want to go to jail? Cuz that's what happens. They're using you and then you're the one who goes to jail. >> Deputies confront grandma again about the alcohol hidden in her granddaughter's backpack. She admits to stashing at least one bottle, but continues offering inconsistent excuses. >> When you were at Walmart, what did you get caught taking? >> Food. Food. just nothing. Yeah, just food >> because she has a wallet in the car and uh I stay there and she'll go back to pay. >> Okay, >> that's what she told me. >> So why were you putting things in your granddaughter's backpack? >> And uh this is the same thing if you >> So you put them in your granddaughter's backpack. >> Just only Yeah. One bottle >> even one bottle. >> Me one bottle. >> Okay. Because >> why did you put it in the backpack? Why didn't you put it in the cart? >> Because she doesn't have a car. That's That's what's happening. >> Huh? >> She uh she's walked with me. >> She doesn't have a push car. >> This I don't know. It looks like >> that's stealing. >> Why you say it's >> Despite her denials, surveillance confirms Grandma exiting with the backpack full of alcohol. She is arrested on the spot and permanently trespassed from Target. Really? >> Because you have Let me finish. Because you have things that belong to the store. You walked out of the store to your car with the stuff. >> No, I was without anything. >> When I found you at the car, >> she p she uh have a car. I walk without anything. And she told me, "Wait, I have to go to see the granddaughter." That's what she told me. When I found you out there. >> Yes. >> You had the grocery cart. >> Yes. >> And you had the bag >> that had all the wine in it. >> My stomach is 10% all the time. 10 15 minutes I have to go to bathroom >> because I had a cancer. That's what she told me. Wait. >> Stand up for me. >> I didn't take anything >> except the backpack that was on your back when you walked out of the store. Forget about that. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. There's video of you walking out with the backpack on your back with a bunch of bottles of wine in it. Don't apologize to me. You didn't steal from me. This is a trespass warning for Target. You are no longer ever allowed to come back to Target. >> If you come back to Target and you're seen, >> you will go to jail again. >> Okay. >> Thank you so much. >> You understand that? >> All right. Come on. And watch your head getting in. >> Watch your back. The mother and grandmother are both convicted of shoplifting petite theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The merchandise involved was valued at $37,955. The 17-year-old daughter is released into her father's custody. Involving a child in theft not only deepens the crime, but also destroys trust and responsibility as a parent or grandparent. Bad choices made for gifts or excuses can quickly turn into lasting legal and moral consequences. The next case is even insane when this happens. >> Stop. I blind. >> I'm going to have you step set up, >> babe. I'm blind. >> Okay, sit up. >> And I have a baby. >> Come on. >> Yes, I am. A woman thought shoplifting at a festival was a good idea until the cops told her to scream. But instead of listening, she kept coming back like a bad sequel. And spoiler alert, sequels don't end well when the police are involved. >> I have my ID over here. >> It's over there. If you come back today, you'll be arrested. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Hey, >> good. Hey, so we got a call about some of your behavior just taking stuff in the booth. No, I actually was talking to a friend and I was so >> All right. Well, um you're trespassing corner Kobia days for the rest of the weekend. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. Please don't come back. If you come back, you could be arrested for trespassing. >> All right. And just so you know, this is audio video recorded. >> Oh, yeah. I >> Okay. All right. Have a great day. >> Bye. >> Hey, what's your first name? >> What is it? >> Azel. Azel. >> Azel. Perfect. That's perfect. >> Yeah. >> Despite being told again and again to leave, she popped back up like a bad game of whack-a-ole. At that point, officers decided it was time to hand out bracelets. The shiny metal kind. >> Yes. Because I didn't do that. Stop. I didn't do that yet. Stop. >> On your back. >> I don't. Stop it. >> You're being stopped. Stop. Stop. Ow. I have a kid. >> I have a kid in my stomach. >> Stop. I have a kid. Ow. I have a kid. Let me go. >> She's not pregnant. We've dealt with her six times today. >> I want money. >> Okay, just relax. >> I'm going to pay. >> Just relax. >> Stop. I'm going to pay. >> Stop. I would like you to stop. >> Stop it. >> I didn't do anything. I was getting >> Stop. I got I'm blind. >> I'm going to have you step sit up, >> babe. I'm blind. >> Sit up. >> And I have a baby. >> Come on. >> Yes, I am. >> Can you stand up for me? >> Ow. I have to go to the bathroom. I want you to get these off. >> Stand up for me. >> Will you Will you take these off me? >> If you stand up for me. >> Oh my almost. >> Come on. Okay, there you go. >> Stand up. There you go. >> Take these off me. I was Hey, >> get up. Yeah. >> Yeah. Babe, stop. Give me my shoes. Stop it, babe. Stop. Talk to me. Get my shoes. >> Grab your shoes. >> We got it. >> Babe, stop. >> I want to walk and go where I go home. >> Stop this way. >> I want to walk and go where I go home. >> You're under arrest. >> Stop it. No. Listen. >> Let's go. >> Stop. I didn't do anything. This is a festival. My dad said I was going to be able to look at them. Is that fine? Can you please take these off, please? Don't I didn't mean to do anything wrong. >> My keys are in my >> I talked to you. We were going to buy soap. >> Yeah, >> I was going to buy soap. I have money in my pocket. Do you want to walk over here? Okay. >> Are you going to give me my shoe and I'm got your shoe right here in the bag? >> Can you walk for me? >> Are you going to go and talk to me? >> Come on. >> Yeah. >> Babe, stop. This hurts. >> She tried every excuse in the book. Mystery illnesses, dramatic stories, you name it. But the officers weren't buying a single chapter. In the end, they walked her out like the world's worst festival headliner. >> Walk myself. >> Then walk. >> I would like you to tell me that like I didn't >> You were trespassed here earlier for stealing. >> No, I was trying to get out >> here again. So, you're under arrest for trespassing. >> No, I'm not. Stop. I didn't steal. I was going to give him back to him. >> He didn't grab him from me. >> Either way, you're under arrest for trespassing. >> Stop. I didn't trespass. >> Come on, >> babe. I didn't cross that. Stop. Come on. I have to go to the bathroom. >> Put her in the dress. I was trying to find the bathroom. >> The bathroom's right there. You've been here all day. >> Stop. >> Take a seat. >> Stop. Let me down. >> There you go. >> Don't get this off me. I don't appreciate it. I didn't mean to do anything. I was trying to have a good time. My friend is supposed to meet me here. >> Well, you're under arrest. >> No. >> You should have left. >> Babe, don't ever forget. I'm an officer, too. >> You are? >> Yeah. So, I don't be under arrest. Who do you work for? >> Uh, King County. >> Okay. >> We have King County here and they can come verify that you >> No, you don't. I said, "Babe, don't. I already told you I live in the department up here." >> Right. Now, you have the right to remain. >> I was actually my lemonade. Babe, listen. My lemonade. >> You are being questioned. >> Babe, my lemonade fell and I was going to I was going to give him the rocks. I did. >> You can decide any time to exercise these rats. >> Dude, I was going to give him my rocks. Do you understand each of these represents? My arm is broken. I got a car accident the other day. >> Which arm? >> My left arm and my right arm. >> Both of them. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> My hurt really bad. You don't hurt me. I don't I didn't tell you anything that like um I was an accident that I got hit my head and everything. I was trying to have a good day and I am. >> Okay, >> then don't say am I I have allergies on my shoulder. You know that I had you know I had cotton. >> She keeps dragging the drama like it's an open mic soap opera while the officers stall for time and keep her talking until backup rolls in. >> I will pay for the the the the rocks we were going to give him back. >> I'm going to go interview. >> We were going to No, he didn't come back and talk to me about it. He yelled at me. >> I told him, "Do not yell at me." >> Can we trust her about >> Stop touching me about 2 hours. >> Let go and stop touching me, please. >> You're going to sit right there. >> I didn't Am I too loud? I'm deaf. The store owner showed mercy by skipping the theft charges, but the woman's refusal to leave earned her a free ride to jail for trespassing and resisting arrest. The store cut her a break on shoplifting, but she still got hauled off for trespassing and resisting arrest. Sometimes mercy runs out when you keep pushing your luck. Dodging one charge doesn't mean you dodge them all. It not the craziest incident you can see. The next case will surprise you. >> That's uncalled for, dude. No, you're trying to pull. >> I am not trying to pull it. All right, I'm going to hold the record. Cooperating calmly with police can prevent extra charges like obstruction. >> Yep. >> Please, please don't >> just face the vehicle. >> Please, please don't arrest. This isn't going to turn into a fight. >> Please, please don't arrest me for this. >> On January 9th, 2024, Burlington staff called police after spotting a woman allegedly turning the store bathroom into her own security tag bonfire. >> Yeah, actually. >> Oh, thank you. >> Burning. >> Okay. Hello. I'm officer for our Marsville Police Department. So, they are requesting you be trespassed. So, just leave those items right here. >> How come? >> Um, so you went in the bathroom and you burned some items, these sensors off some items. >> She denies it all, saying the lighter strapped to her wrist is only for outdoor smoking. She's fine with being trespassed, but swears she's innocent. >> You're innocent. I was at school. >> Okay. So, they're requesting that you be trespassed. >> Okay. What's the lighter on your wrist for? >> So that way when I go to smoke, I just have it right there. That way no one steers it, you know. >> Okay. I get my stuff stolen a lot. Okay. Crazy. everything to put my, you know, like uh ID out on the shelf so that way I can bring you in. >> Okay. What's your last name? Okay, hang tight here. I'm just going to write you up a trespass. Um, what were you doing in the bathroom that would make him think that you were burning something? >> I had no idea. I literally had didn't smoke anything at all. Okay. Okay. Just think in there, but it is small. >> Okay. So, we would just need evidence, some sort of, you know, proof cuz she's saying she didn't burn anything. She didn't have anything on her. >> Yeah. So, right now I'm just writing up trust pass. >> That's that's fine because the as soon as I would be able to get video evidence would be tomorrow. So, and of course it's too late for right now. >> Was there any items? Did you check where she left her stuff? >> Staff say the bathroom now smells like burnt plastic thanks to poor ventilation that kept the scent hanging around like bad perfume. >> Did you see anything burnt? >> So, when she I had another customer who went into the restroom at the same time she did. Yeah. >> I went in there and checked myself. Nothing was working at that time. the customer came out and um as she's coming out she's like clean I don't know what that was all about but I had a lighter so I went and I went in there again and all I can smell is the smelling the burning smell of our sensors in the bathroom like it literally still smells like that in there right now >> it takes a while cuz we don't have great ventilation in there so it takes a while for it to come out of the restroom >> um to have to put this on for the rest of the night but she had like um she had like some of our stationary stuff that like a purple pen with like a star on it. Um I know that she had one of those in her hands and I don't know if she still has that or not, but that was one of the things that she had and she had some bags and stuff. I did try to pick up as much as the bags I could, but >> Okay. So, do you So, you just want to trespass or >> I just want to get her >> with no hard evidence. Officers skip theft charges but issue a one-year ban from Burlington. >> And you also It's a one-year trespass from this store. I don't get to shower often, so I mean, I've had people tell me I do smell bad. >> No, they said it's like burning plastic. >> I didn't light anything on fire at all. >> Okay. You know, it's funny because the Everett Library actually uh twice now has uh barred me for 60 days because they said I was smoking in the bathroom. their vapor sensors went off. And the second time I watched a security guard watch me and my home girl walk into the bathroom together and she smoked in the bathroom. I didn't >> I don't smoke in public in public because I like being able to go to the restroom when I can't. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> Like >> but like how's the store supposed to know when if two of you go in and then it smells like smoke? >> He said you he said you were the only one in the bathroom when it went off. I was like you saw her go in there with me, dude. Come on. Stop. like, "Don't even play me like that. Run the cameras back." >> Yeah. >> And he was like, "Yeah, but when the sensor went off, she was already gone." And I'm like, "Okay, well then y'all need to fix your sensors or something." >> Yeah. >> Think about how how much time that takes for the smoke to travel to the top of the ceiling and then to get to your sensor or whatever. I don't know. But either way, he knew she was in the bathroom. Then he told me, "Well, you can uh you can um uh dispute it and honestly it'll probably get lifted because every single one we've had except one ever was lifted because the chick smoked fentanyl right in front of the security officers >> like while she was trying to argue with the >> She brings up past false alarm incidents, claims sensors can be wrong and insists the store is jumping to conclusions >> administration or some something. You do have a warrant out of Everett. Okay. Looks like you have a quite a few warrants out of Everett. There's one for criminal trespass in the second. >> Officers start the trespass paperwork, then discover she has multiple warrants out of Everett, including criminal trespass. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. That's not my sister. >> So, the name that you gave me is not coming back with her turn. The only name is coming back with Kylie. And all of the photos, the DOL photo is you. The booking photo, this is you. So, I'm not believing that your name is Kiara. >> That's my sister. >> Kiara is your sister? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, Kylie is your name? >> Kaye. >> Kaye. Okay. So, why'd you lie to me about your name? Because you knew you had a warrant? >> No. Okay, so you're under arrest for the warrant. Oh, please, please, please don't >> just face the vehicle. Please, please don't. >> She gives a fake name, but the game ends when the police show her booking photo. Nothing in your shoes. >> She was arrested for an existing warrant out of Everett, which included criminal trespass in the second degree. Lying about your identity won't erase existing warrants.
