Seat belt too tight or anything like that? Okay. All right. We'll get some ENT come with some uh wipes or something. Wipe your face down. >> The suspect was charged with resisting arrest, eluding aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, obstructing the administration of law two counts of receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. Remember, failing to stop for law enforcement can escalate quickly and create significant risks for everyone involved. Following lawful commands during a stop helps reduce the chance of injury and further complications. This is the reaction of netizens to this situation. That pursuit looked dangerous once traffic started building up. Officers handled a tense situation and still checked on everyone's injuries. Glad it ended without a major crash despite how risky it got. You think this call can't get worse? The body cam captures the exact second officers rush in comment if you felt that spike. In September 2023, after their daughter cancelled several medical appointments on their behalf, JN and Lois's family doctor expressed concerns about the couple's health. Essex police opened a missing person's investigation and when officers spoke with Virginia, she told them her parents were traveling and would return in October. However, officers became suspicious of their absence. And a few days later, they executed a search warrant, broke into the house, and arrested Virginia. >> It's behind the bed, but back next to a sink. No one at the moment. So, please got it. >> Stay where you are. >> Stay where you are. >> Stay where you are. Jenny. >> Yep. >> The time is 12:12 m against color and last color. Okay. Anything defense mention question. Okay. >> Is there anything that we should know about you? >> No, you can tell. Officers limit movement inside the house to preserve evidence while asking her to describe where each body is located. >> Uh, can we go in there for a second just so I can tell you something about what's in >> there? Anyway, I said I need to tell you something about what's upstairs on the top floor as well. It's fine. >> Yeah. >> No, it's fine. >> I know. I' got to careful. >> Oh, my dad's body isn't there. >> Right. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yep. Okay. Um, obviously I'll >> um a little bit more complicated. >> Okay. Um, can I, that's why I said, can I go upstairs and show you? >> Can you explain it to us, please? We're trying to reserve this. It's now going to be sent, >> so we need to reserve this the best we can. So, I don't want you to have you walking up there. >> She gives more specific directions about where each person can be found within the residence. >> All right. It's that that's for your wellbe as well as ours. >> Oh, up. >> Okay. So, where where will we find your mom? >> Where will we find your mom? >> Okay. So, upstairs there are about five wardrobes. Y >> um it's behind the bed but back next to the sink. That's the second one. >> The woman describes prior actions taken to conceal the situation and maintain the appearance that the individuals were still alive. >> Um I've slipped five of those into his drink. Um there were about two or three drinks that I brought downstairs. Um and yeah, they were basically he he didn't drink all of them. He only drank probably about half of two. But um yeah, when I went in in the morning, this was before my mother. Uh when I went in the morning, early hours, I got up about half an hour early, about um 6:00 in the morning, came in and he was gone. He was gone. It's um >> two days >> officers formally explain the arrest and document her statements as part of the investigation. >> It's up to you if you want to talk. >> Yeah. >> The thing is purpose of the arrest um purpose of your arrest is for a prompt effective investigation as well as questioning you. We can't do that here. It needs to be done at a police station. All right. >> I did know that this would kind of come eventually. And it's proper that I serve my punishment. So yeah. >> Okay. So Virginia, I just going to ask you. >> She signs a written account confirming her earlier admissions. Officers continue processing the scene and evidence. This this is what I've written down based on the information you just told us cuz what we regard as a significant comment because you've made it under caution after your arrest. That's my granddad. >> Okay. Right. So I've written this please. Um I Junior McCullik having have informed police constable 77329 Brown and 79387 Bowers after in my house on Friday the 15th September 2023 that I murdered my father John McCullik who I stated was under a bed in the rear ground floor of the house and my mother upstairs in a cupboard next to the sink. >> Wardrobe wardro is a double wardrobe. >> Okay, I'll bring it's like four but it's the one nearest the sink. have a water >> back up then. >> Yeah. >> What's significant that's all written down there here now? I've just read out to you. You happy to sign that to say that's a true true account? >> Yeah. >> During questioning, she remains calm and cooperative, providing additional information about financial activity and items in the home. >> Cheer up. At least you put the bad guy. I've just woken up today and done my job. No% >> evil, but we all >> Yeah. Not >> I'm not going to comment on anything. It's not my job to comment on it. Okay. Cuz I got to be impartial with everything. Okay. So, I'm not going to give any comment. >> No. No. Well, I mean, I deserve to obviously uh get whatever's coming sentence wise. That's the right thing um to do and that might give me a bit of peace. She directs officers to locations of key evidence within the residence, including items used in the incident. >> Um, also in the handbag as well, there's um, and again, cuz you're probably going to need to know about it, there's a card in there. um called one Money um and um that's bank card where um there's um a lot of transactions that have taken place over the last few years from money that pertains to my parents. Um is upstairs room um kitchen and it's in the middle of brown carpet. um against the wall opposite the shelves. So there are two long white shelves. So opposite um where that hole is, that's where uh the knife is. So um next bit is very hard to talk about. That's probably the most grizzly detail. Um so on the um ground floor underneath the stairs um there's a few like storage boxes and things. Um and um in the middle um I think it's in one of boxes or in a bag or something. Um there um um if you want me to shush out this, it's fine. Um but every bit helps. You'll you will find if it's helpful, there's a hammer. Uh I know, I know, I know, but I'm I'm trying to help you find everything. It's in the middle underneath the stairs. It will still have blood on it. It's rusted, but it will still have blood traces on it. >> Virginia also took a moment to emphasize how important it is for a suspect to fully cooperate in a case like hers. >> So, not cooperating is futile. There's no point not cooperating. There really isn't. After a year of investigation and trial on October 11th, 2024, the jury delivered its verdict in Virginia's case and the chief investigator of Essex police issued a public statement on the matter. >> Good afternoon. Virginia McCullik murdered her parents in cold blood. Her actions were considered meticulous and carried out in such a way as to conceal what she had done for as long as possible. These were the actions of someone who had taken time to plan and carry out the murder of her parents in the interests of self-preservation and personal gain before living within meters of the bodies of her two victims for a number of years. Throughout the course of our investigation, we have built a picture of the vast levels of deceit, betrayal, and fraud that she was engaged in. It was on a shocking and monumental scale. McCullik lied about almost every aspect of her life, maintaining a sherade to deceive everyone close to her and clearly taking advantage of her parents' goodwill. She is an intelligent manipulator who chose to kill her parents callously without a thought for them or those who continue to suffer as a result of their loss. The details of this case shock and horrify even the most experienced of murder detectives, let alone members of the public. It therefore follows that the wider family of John and Lois understandably could never have guessed or anticipated that McCullik would be capable of undertaking these murders before committing herself to this level of deceit. They have been left utterly devastated by the circumstances of this case and they continue to feel the loss of John and Lois each and every day. This process, from the finding of John and Lois's remains to the unraveling of McCullik's web of lies, has taken a huge toll on the wider family network. With this sentence, and with all that we have uncovered throughout our investigation, we hope they can now start to find a way forward with their lives. The woman was charged with two counts of murder and later sentenced to life in prison. Remember, prolonged deception can delay discovery, but consistent investigation and verification of information are critical in resolving missing person cases. Clear documentation and careful scene preservation are essential for building an accurate and complete investigation. This is the reaction of netzens to the situation. It's surprising how long this situation went unnoticed before officers stepped in. The way officers handled the scene and preserved evidence stood out to me. This case shows how important it is to follow up on welfare concerns. What do you think about these situations? Then she started choking me out. >> She ran away to some grown ass man house. >> I don't know where she at. I don't know how to find her. She pulled my hair and we got into it. If I'm going to jail, I want her. On October 12th, 2023, officers responded to a residence after a 16-year-old reported an argument about a mother following the teen visiting a boy's home without permission. >> I said, "Carm, why you >> What you saying to it?" Like, like be more detailed. Police >> come to the door. Come here. >> What's going on? How you doing? I'm officer Smith over city Atlanta police. >> That's my grandma. >> Where your mom? >> I don't know. She's probably at home. Do you want her address? >> No. Now I want you to tell me what happened. >> Okay. I sat down and she started hitting me some more. So I started hitting her back and we started fighting and then she went and she hit up a chair and then she started trying to hit me with the chair. Then she started choking me out. She went out the gun. She started put >> you seen the go. What it going to look like? It was purple. >> Huh? >> She was purple. >> It was purple. Let me see her. >> Officers observe visible injuries and begin documenting the teen's condition. The teen confirms she is 16 and lives with her mother. >> I'm going to put a light on you so I can check you out. >> You want How old are you? >> 16. >> You seen this happen, Grandma? >> She was trying to stop it. >> All right, Grandma. What you saw? >> I don't care. So where where you live at? >> You live with your mom? >> Yes. >> So you was over here >> and Okay. So what brought you over here? You just was over here just >> I had went to a friend's house and I didn't tell my mom. So when she found out >> the grandmother explains that the teen had asked to be picked up from another location. The mother tracked the teen's phone, arrived at the grandmother's home, and became extremely upset, leading to a confrontation between them. She got mad and I asked my grandma to come pick me up from where I was and she was tracking my phone. So when she found out I was over here, she came up here to do what? >> What's your mom name? >> Ashley. >> You was at a friend house. You didn't tell your mom. She found out. She called you. She got She was mad. So you called your grandma to come pick you up. She tracked your phone to your grandma house. She called She came over here to whoop you. What you saw, Grandma? It wasn't to my friend house. >> So you was with the mom looking for the daughter. >> Okay. Call her. She cancel everything. So next we scared you not going to know what happened. All of a sudden she called me but we already checking her everything and everything. So we tracked up her to this location over there drive in the parking lot. everything. She called me everything that night. I told her I'm out here and everything. I said, "Okay." She called me. So I picked up over here everything. I'm so tired. My daughter went into a rage. When we got here, she went into a rage. She has to pick up chill. I'm in the middle of now. I got a my head now. I'm trying to stop them. Okay. It was not that serious, >> right? >> But my daughter went into a rage and I just don't know. She's 15. They going to do that, >> right? >> They going to do that. >> What's your What's your name, Grandma? >> Stay inside here so you can not get wet and be cold. Okay, I'm going to go right to the car real quick. I'll give you a call right back. >> I don't think nothing crazy of it. Um, >> she she she did something wrong. Mama came and did what she had to do. >> So, I can reach you 100%, but I feel like she just went a little too far. too far. >> The teen provides additional details, saying the confrontation escalated into a fight her grandmother attempted to intervene and the mother continued striking her. She also states she briefly locked herself in a bathroom after seeing her mother return outside with an object she believed to be a firearm. >> I mean, someone knew where the mom at. >> They they gave me the address. It's one thing to whoop your child, but you throw a goddamn cher child. >> I got to find my daughter. I'm going to tell that up. That's me though. She >> I ain't going to punch in the eye though. >> That what I'm saying. But see, we not >> We don't know. We don't know how it got We She could have been hidden with the belt and >> Grandma said, >> you said the same thing. She just said like >> she grandma just feel like >> she she went too far. She turned up too much. >> She definitely did. >> Have you walked with a belt since like, "Oh, [ __ ] All right. You should have been out." >> But no, they got into like a fist fight. >> Oh, really? Yeah. >> Oh, she was punching the mom, too. >> They were fighting. >> The mom went to fight her. She went to I guess feeling like she could fight the mom back. >> But I'm going to call her first though. See if she'll uh >> The mom don't live there. >> No, it's the grandma house. >> So, listen now. I understand what you're saying. Now, there's one thing to discipline, but it's also one thing going too far. This young lady eyes swollen >> and bleeding. That's going too far. >> Now, I'm with the discipline and all that, but when it comes to the punching and stuff, come on. You can't do that to your child. >> She picked up the chair. She like hit me with it. >> But she didn't hit you with the chair. >> She just th it. And then my grandma then she she pushed my grandma and started hitting me again. >> She pushed her. >> Yeah. >> What happened to your grandma when she got pushed? >> I don't know. I couldn't see anything. So we started fighting again. And then um I think I don't remember what really happened after that, but I heard my grandma got back in between us. And then that's when my mama starts like, "Oh, I'm gonna I'm gonna her." And she started choking me and she spit in my face and she was like, "Oh, >> spit in your face." >> An officer calls the mother and asks her to return to the residence to explain what happened. At first, she refuses, saying the teen ran away to an adult man's home, but eventually agrees to come to the scene. She was like, "Oh, you going to get three charges already?" And then >> she said, "You going to get what?" >> Aids >> for her spit on you. >> Oh, she said, "Cuz you out thinking I was Yeah. She was like, I'm going to get AIDS. You And then that's when I looked out the window. She was coming. I think she parked over there cuz she was coming from over here with a gun." And I was like, "Oh, she has a gun." And I went out there. >> Yes. It was in her hand when I locked I closed the door and then I went in the bathroom and I locked the door. >> Have you seen the gun prior to today? Have you seen it before? >> Hello. >> Hello. May I speak with um Ashley St. Phil? >> Who is this? >> Hey, good afternoon ma'am. My name is Officer Simeon PD. I'm at your mom house right now. There's a situationship with your daughter. >> Um do you mind coming on scene? >> Nope. I'm not cutting me. >> You don't want to come? >> Nope. >> Okay. Cuz um she got some allegation. We just want to clarify and hear from you what happened tonight and stuff like that. >> Oh, she ran away. >> When did it happen? >> Tonight. >> Tonight. >> I'm sorry. >> You say that happened tonight. She left tonight. >> Yeah. She ran away to some grown ass man house. >> Did you get her or did you find her or somewhere? No, she has two phone and um when you connect the other phone to the Wi-Fi, I seen all of the text messages. That's how we knew where to find her. >> Miss Miss Singfield. >> Yes. >> Well, where you located right now? Can you uh come back over here and talk to us cuz we need your side of the story. >> I'm giving my side of the story. I don't live in Atlanta. >> Yes. >> You're not going to come? >> Two things can happen. >> No. >> Okay. Well, all right. Well, you you'll be uh charges going to be put out on you. When the mother arrives, she explains she discovered messages showing the teen had traveled by ride share to a man's apartment. She says she tracked the location, confronted her daughter at the grandmother's home and admits that during the argument she struck the teen with a belt and that both of them fought. >> Do that if I would have carried him over there. >> Well, I need your story, but you ain't here. You want to be over the phone and not come over here and give it. So, we going to take it for what it is. >> Okay. I'll be there in a minute. But it take you 30 minutes to get from my house. >> It take you what? >> It take me 30 minutes to get from my house. >> All right. Well, you on the clock. You need to hurry and get here because >> either you get here and talk or we just throw the charges on you and you just deal with it how you deal with it. >> All right. >> How you doing? I'm Smith Atlanta Police. All right. So, what happened today? >> So, I came home from work about 8 9:00. >> Uhhuh. >> Come in the house. She text me while I was Let me start back. She text me around 7 before I got off work. >> She say, "Oh, I'm going to sleep." >> [ __ ] >> Surrounding me for >> what? Like, guys everywhere. So anyway, she um text me and say she going to sleep cuz she been texting. She been texting all day at school, baby. She tired. >> I get home. Nobody in the room. Hey, where you at? Call you call. You call you call. You call you call. You call you won't answer. Turn the phone off. So I get your other phone cuz you know the iPhone even though you switch the phone you can still see all the text and everything. Go through the phone. She telling some grown ass man. Oh um my mama think I'm going to stay in this house. She got me up and laughing about it like it's funny the address in the phone cuz she got a little job. So she actually got her Uber and dick dashed over there this man house. So I'm telling her like I'm calling calling calling. By this time I'm in a panic. I don't know where she at. I don't know how to find her and motion running hot. I see the um address in the phone. I go over there. Boom. Put in the gate. Co go in the gate, but it's an apartment complex. Can't find an apartment. I call 911. Call 911. We kept getting a voicemail. By this time, she turned the phone. What I did was I moved all her money from my cash app. Now you can't go nowhere. So I'm going draw you out like roaches. >> She called she called my mom to come pick her up. Now instead of my mom telling her, "You wrong. You are dead ass wrong. What if you would have got to this man house? It would have been 20 other men in there. You don't know what the could have happened to you. I don't know these people. I don't know this man." She tell her, "Oh yeah, we she tell me actually both of us get to the apartment complex. Well, I'mma um take her to my house then you come up there. I'm not going to tell her you coming. So naturally, I'm coming over here to discipline my child cuz you dead ass wrong. This is crazy. She turned on me now. I'm wrong. I'm the wrong party. But this lady then ran away from home. We live all the way in Fville. She came in the Uber all the way to Lantum Drive in the Uber. >> All right. >> And she got there in the phone like his numerous text messages still there. Even now she's still texting the little boy why he said it's 8 in. was a P. Like what the >> All right. So what happened when y'all got upstairs? >> Motions running high. We got into it. She is placed in handcuffs while expressing frustration about the situation. arguing. >> All right. >> We arguing. Yeah. Emotions running high, whatever. So, I did have a belt and I continue to whoop her. >> Uhhuh. >> When I did whoop her, she did grab my hair. >> Okay. >> And in the me of me her grab my hair. Long as I told you we good, right? just about lean on me, man. Well, sis, I'm going to jail. I want her removed from that house to defense cas. >> You can't do that. That's not >> officers explain the charges to those present and arrange for the teen to be transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. They also state the case will proceed through the court system for review by a judge. >> It works. It don't work like that. >> Why it don't she with your mom? So she don't have no say over. >> Take your thing out. >> I can't. You got me handcuffed. I'mma take it out. >> All right. >> Still ain't tell me where my charges is. >> Tell you all your charger right now. Put your car DV. >> Okay. >> Battery on the child on the minor. We'll talk more at the precinct. >> Yeah. somebody about my wife, man. >> That way she can be checked out there. >> What she going to jail for, man?
