What is this? What? What exactly is this coming? >> Uh this one right now, bro. >> You got some light respiration on you guys? And uh we found a a bike. >> On October 23rd, 2023, Sacramento Deputy Marvin Morales locked eyes with a familiar face during his patrol, one he'd met just days prior. The man's uneasy demeanor instantly raised red flags. What followed would unravel into one of law enforcement's most chilling cases to date. >> What's up, bro? What's good? You okay? I'm all right. >> You're having a lot of fun out here, bro. >> Yeah. >> We got new sunglasses. >> Oh, yeah. >> Supposed to get a haircut. >> Dude, I forgot your name, bro. What is it again? >> Let's go for >> I just saw you last week over here, bro. >> Yeah, >> you was dancing at the same time, too, man. >> You promised me your best dance moves. Who? >> You? >> Yeah. You promised me your dead best dance moves. >> Yeah. Yeah, definitely. >> What's up? You want to see what? >> I got to go back to downtown, dance there without waiting for me. Last time I went in the stadium was uh was about to fall down. >> He played it smooth like a guy with nothing to hide, but his legs buckled beneath fake confidence. And what he didn't realize, this was not his first meeting with Deputy Morales. You were about to pass out the other night though. Last week you was on that fetti. >> Oh. Oh yeah. >> Yeah. >> Is that what that foil is right there in the pocket or be be real with it? Just be real. >> Just be real. >> Yeah. I don't know. >> Yeah. >> Could be. >> Could be. Is it? I think it is. >> I don't know. >> Yeah. >> No. Not for now. >> So you could either hand it over or I could put you in cuffs and take it out your pockets. Up to you. Oh, just No, it's uh it's uh it's not illegal. >> No, the one in your little drug pocket. >> What? >> No. No, you hit it. >> Huh? >> You hit it, bro. I'm I'm giving you the chances to hand it over. >> Oh, yeah. >> Deputy Morales had seen him just nights ago, high on fentanel, but let him go looking at his condition. Clearly, that warning wasn't enough. Now, the curtain was closing, but in his head, the show wasn't over. >> So, I didn't see you and then what? Come on. I know. I had it over there. >> How about that star right there? >> Right there. >> Right there. >> You know how it goes, man. >> All right. >> Empty your pockets. Oh, I thought you I thought I'm good. >> No, you ain't good, bro. >> You want that, bro? You You almost passed out last week. >> No, I didn't. >> Yeah, you did. Dude, you you went out to Narcan. >> No, that wasn't me, sir. >> That that female deputy from last week. >> I didn't go to I didn't go there. >> You want me to You want me to do my job? >> I'm general. He was kneedeep in denial, thinking if he just said it wasn't happening, it wouldn't. But Morales had seen enough. No point arguing with someone who's clearly not even mentally on the same planet anymore. doing something like that, huh? [Music] Hey, >> you got some um nice clothes, bro. >> Hope you like me, Nick. >> Hell yeah. [Music] >> He's been like he's been trespassed like most of these properties out here. So, As expected, the drugs were in his system and on him. But whatever he had stashed in his pocket, that was still a mystery and possibly way worse. >> What is this? What What exactly is this? Uh pistol. Pistol. Oh, you just been uh chasing the dragon. >> Yeah. Hey, I'm I'm going to give you citation. Okay. Nothing, bro. You're going to need here. Okay. He was, bro. But last time I saw you twing on the grass back there. >> Drug secured, suspect cuffed. It looked like a textbook bust, but hold up. The real twist hadn't even hit yet. Watch Morales closely now. Trust me, you don't want to miss this. [Music] I was going to ride him real quick. And just like that, Deputy Morales wrapped up the stop, secured the foil packet of drugs, and went on with his shift. Everything seemed by the book until hours later. Surveillance footage showed him pulling into a gas station to use the restroom. Nothing out of the ordinary until another officer walked in minutes later. There on the cold tile floor was Morales. Collapsed, motionless. And not because of exhaustion, the officer hadn't just stumbled into a coworker, he'd walked straight into a nightmare. Morales, wake up, bro. Morales. Yes. Where my car is at? Uh, first Nor can't apply. He's coming too. Leave that door open. Morales, you good? >> My radio is dead. >> Huh? My radio. Get his best off. Straighten his leg. Straighten his leg. Yep. Miles. Miles. Hey. Miles. Hey. Drag him out. Drag him out. Drag him out. Drag him out. >> Hey. First. Nor has a fight already. >> Knocked out cold, unresponsive, and not reacting to anything. The site was chilling. Either something tragic had just happened or Morales had made a deadly mistake. But in that moment, there was no time to think. >> Leave the door open for fire. >> I got >> put a put a a trash can out there. >> Wake up, bud. >> Come on. Hey, I got a second one there if you need it. Here's all over and over. I hit him one already on his on his left nostril. >> Give another one. >> And that's when he came too. >> That's when he came too. When they >> pulse breathing breathing pulse. >> One look was enough. This wasn't just a medical emergency. It screamed overdose. Morales wasn't even breathing and his pulse barely there. Things were going downhill fast. And if no one jumped in quick, it was game over. >> That's his car. That's my car. I came to use the restroom. I thought he was in there taking a poop and as soon as I open the door, he's leaning against the corner. So, I ran back and got my NAM. >> I'm going move my car out of the way at least. >> Yeah. Hey, extra just in case. I gave him one. I think they gave him another one. >> Seeing him like that, the possibilities were obvious. Morales might have been exposed to the same drug he confiscated just hours earlier. But how? The body cam showed him handling it carefully. Nothing added up, and the only person who knew what really happened was slipping away with every second. Looks like overdose right now. >> There you go. >> There we go. There we go. >> Come on, buddy. >> There you go. Wake up, bud. >> There you go. Come on, Mark. Come on. >> Wake up, bud. >> Come on. >> Come on, man. >> Wake up, Ralph. >> Wake up, Ralph. >> Wake up. There you go. >> There you go. >> Hey, rollover. Going to start rolling in the recovery just cuz of all the mucus from the We'll keep him like this. >> Come on, Mark. >> Come on, bud. >> Come on, Marvin. >> Come on, bud. >> One more. >> Fourth dose. >> He was leaning against him. >> I ran out to the car, got my hand, came back. I gave him the first dose, and then someone else came out of there. >> Good. >> Come on, Marvin. Snap out of the way. Snap out of it. >> Snap out of it. >> Come on, Mark. >> Finally, Morales took a breath barely. But the danger wasn't over yet. Medics were racing in. First responders doing everything they could, but Morales was still hanging on by a thread. >> Mark respirations appear to be somewhere. He's got four in him right now. >> Come on, Mark. Come on, man. >> Come on. >> Come on, Mark. >> Wake up. Wake up. >> Wake up. >> Lift his head up a little bit. >> Come on, Mark. You're good, bro. Come on, man. >> Get his airway straight. Getting >> full already. >> Yeah. >> Wake up, Mark. >> Come on. >> They're coming up. >> All right. >> Cool. >> Come on, Marvin. Try one more time. You're doubled up. >> There we go. There we go. Come on, Mark. Come on. There we go. >> Come on. Come on. >> Come on, Mark. >> There you go. >> Stand with us. You're good. >> You're good. Keep breathing. >> At last, there was a fighting chance for Morales. Meanwhile, the investigating officer started piecing things together. There you go. There you go. >> Was there anything around him at all in there? >> What's that? >> Yeah, there's a pipe in there. >> What's up? >> I saw a pipe right there. >> Okay, >> there you go. There you go. >> There you go, Mark. >> Keep breathing, bud. >> Keep breathing, Mark. >> Come on, Mark. You're good, man. >> Come on, dude. You're going to be okay. You're good. >> Come on. All right. >> There we go. Be ready to go. >> Let's go. >> There we go. >> He's coming to a little more. >> Yeah, seems like it's starting to kick in better. >> Strong. >> Come on. Come on. >> Come on. Is it rapid at all or does it feel normal? >> No, it's it's it's rapid. >> Okay. >> What's up, guys? He's been down for about five, six minutes now. Four minutes. Got our hand. Strong radial. He's got some wide respiration. Um out of consciousness the whole time. So you guys drug user? >> No, we found a a med pipe that might >> Drug exposure was obvious, but Morales using them. No one could imagine that. Even though the proof was staring right at their faces, they chose to be in denial. And to get clear answers, the drug foil was now the key. >> Uh, this might be it right here. What? >> We want to put the masks on if it's been all been there for a while or >> said it wasn't a glove. >> Yeah, I'm not seeing it. >> Couple more gloves. >> I felt those things in it. >> I'm not seeing anything in the box. >> Didn't feel like there was anything in them. >> Not that one. would would probably not be in this though. >> Actually, sh damp, but I don't feel Don't feel anything on that one. I don't see any other gloves floating around in there. Do you? >> No. >> Um, >> I don't think it would. I don't think it would have. I wouldn't think so, but >> unless he already >> going by the body cam, the drug should have been right where they left them, but nope. Gone. The foil missing. The pipe found in washroom. At this point, it wasn't looking like an accident anymore. It was starting to seem like Morales might have actually tried using the stuff himself. >> Can you do me a favor? >> What do you need? Uh, actually I'll have uh >> pull up his last call that he was on and see if he already logged anything in RMS for it. >> I'm surprised we haven't done that. And if we're not finding, he could have already possibly booked it. >> I was like he was on a 14 family and it didn't say anything about >> No, he was on a uh he collected dope at like 65 >> uh 6:30ish. >> Okay. Cuz he was on 14 family after that >> cuz we could check, right? >> Yeah. Let me grab my small light cuz I haven't seen anything. He said the last what was related to me is the last he saw was it went into a glove and into the trunk >> right before >> your glove and the trunk. >> Yeah. The guy told him it was meth according to the updates. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Maybe. >> Well, that's going to be the next check. >> But I don't see anything loose. >> You want to repet down the gloves here? I'm not feeling anything in them cuz it said it was foil. So, I know there should be a little squishiness to them. They checked every glove, every compartment, tore through that trunk like it owed them money. Nothing. And to make it worse, Morales never logged the drugs and RMS. What they feared? Yeah, it was starting to look real. >> Nothing on this side. >> Yeah. >> I unlocked it so we can check that side. I recycle. >> This is odd. >> It's still a little odd. >> Well, did the didn't have it? >> No. No. He got from him that the last thing he saw was that he put it in the glove and tossed it in the trunk, right? >> Yeah. Last time last time. Well, I mean, >> could you >> That's fine. >> I mean, >> so that's why I have them checking in and hopes that he already logged it in. >> Do they site somebody for it? >> Yeah. >> So, it should have gotten booked. >> Okay. >> Or it should be floating around somewhere. That's not my thing. I'm still rolling hot since we're still looking around in his car. >> RMS, but in the call it says he secured the meth in the hatch of his patrol. Yeah. So, >> but there's nothing in RMS. >> Okay. >> With nothing turning up, the officer took one final shot, checked the exact spot described in the footage, and this time they didn't just find nothing. They found the one thing that changed everything. >> I mean, first, >> how often do we just get rid of dope? >> But he cited. >> You're right. You're right. >> Yep. Now, the might just be an old busted meth pipe because there was no mention of a pipe in the coal. >> Yeah, but there's glass right here and there's foil or there's not foil, but there's >> Yeah, it might just be an old meth pipe, George. >> Huh? >> So, that might just be an old pipe. I toss it in there, but that's literally just a shattered pipe. >> Well, then was that what it was? >> It was foil, right? >> It said it said uh what the guy said was meth. So, it was a off-white substance and foil. >> No mention of a piped up. >> No. >> No. Yeah, >> just because of where that's at. I would assume they >> put his carrier vest on your chair and your maybe it's in that >> could could be. >> Um, did we already we already checked? >> I didn't I didn't check that at all. >> I was >> I was the third uniform, but I was like the sixth person here. >> Another meth pipe. This time even harder to explain. One officer was convinced it was Morales's. The other still holding on to that last shred of doubt. But if the foil wasn't in the car, there was only one place left to check. And if it turned up on Morales, game over. >> Yeah. No, >> there would have done something maybe different. >> You wouldn't have done nothing would have been >> you can send over here. We're in room 23. It's uh left pan car pocket. >> You found something? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> The officer was speechless. The last thing they wanted to find was exactly what turned up. Tucked right inside Morales's cargo pants. That same drug foil. Turns out Morales didn't just take it. He smoked it inside a station office. The truth hit like a gut punch. It was real and it was ugly. Okay. >> The glove that the what a caused this to him that exposure. >> Mhm. >> It has a it was a foil that they pulled off of like I recall and I think it just you can feel the foil in there. I don't want to open it up. Get us all exposed. You know what I mean? It's >> crazy. Happens quick. So I'm always worried about see like so many times I search people with no gloves >> not even thinking you know and it's like [ __ ] like >> all lucky >> like that one cop in uh SoCal >> Mhm. >> he was exposed to it. They were just getting rid of some drugs that they found >> and he he wasn't touching with no gloves and boom hit him. He fell out right there. >> Right out dude. Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm not familiar with that fentinyl thing like the whole you ingest it like >> it's transermal. Your skin will absorb absorb it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It doesn't take much. >> Deputy Morales reportedly smoked the drug using a glass pipe he'd picked up during a previous call, one he claimed to have disposed of months earlier. Turns out he'd actually taken it home and admitted to using it three or four times, smoking the residue out of it. According to investigators, Morales hadn't just gambled with his career, he put his entire life on the line. By January 4th, 2024, internal investigators recommended he be fired for dishonesty. But before that could happen, Morales handed in his resignation on February 2nd. It was accepted the very next day, and just like that, it was over. His career and everything else that he had built around it was gone. But what are your thoughts about this case? Do let us know in the comments down below.
