Additionally, a criminal record can lead to disciplinary action and the potential suspension or revocation of a medical license. Hi, this is Detective Bower with St. Pete Police. Hey, Detective. Are you Kevin Hazley here? Good. Just talking to you, Sergeant. I'm just gonna if you could do me a favor, just put it on speaker. I'll let Bill know what I just said to your sergeant. He's right here. He can hear you. You want to confirm that you can hear him? Yes. Hey, Kevin. Hey, Bill. Hey, Bill. Here's what we're going to do. I talked to the sergeant. Was a nice young lady. What we're going to do at this point is we're going to invoke your rights against selfinccrimination. This is not the time to tell your story. There will be a time. This is not that time. So, I have invoked your rights uh against speaking to them. uh we'll have an opportunity to speak to the right people at the right time. Just today is not the time. So, I'm going to ask you not to answer any more of the questions. They're not going to ask you any more questions. I would ask Bill that you don't voluntarily want to explain what happened because there'll be a time for that. Do you understand that, Bill? Yes, sir. Okay. Thank you guys. Detective, sergeant. If your sergeant's still there, I will let her know. Yeah, Bill will be making any statements and and then uh if it's possible and if it's not, I totally understand. If someone could just let me know at this number that he's been at Penelis County Jail. Okay. And I'll go over there and make sure it's fine. If you if you don't want to, that's fine. But if you could as a courtesy, I'd certainly appreciate it. Yeah, I'll see if I can do that. That'd be wonderful. And I really appreciate it. Bill, I'll talk to you this afternoon. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Sounds good. Take care. Thank you guys. All right. Bye. Charged with possession of drugs, the doctors arrested and is currently awaiting trial for his case. Despite the ongoing legal battle, his medical license remains active, raising concerns about his future in the medical field. First part of your traffic cuts off a lot. First, second. Damn it. You know what I'm saying? I mean, the mountain. Yeah. I mean, well, buddy, I still got to look. You can look, too, and tell me. Okay, there it goes. During a routine traffic stop, a man in Rono was pulled over by police, but things took a turn when officers discovered a suspicious package in his vehicle. Taking a left on Grand Aspen. Aspen. I just turned on [Music] Alder. We go with speed or what? Richie told us yesterday the speed that he slowed down when we got behind him. You just flipped this off. Yeah, I thought he said no, you flipped us off. [Music] We're lighting it up. Turning into the Villa Heights. Turning into the Villa Heights Center. No, he's just taking time to back up. Just loads up again. Stay in the car. He was bringing me a bag of batteries. That's a bag of batteries. Back up. Everybody back up. Back up. Back up. up at the VH1. Okay. Good lord. Whoever trying to choke me a We ain't choke nothing. Me ain't. You ain't tried, [ __ ] That's why I just got him out. Why did you have him out the car? He got out of the car. Get me out the car. I gave you your batteries and I walked I was about to walk over here. Like I said, hurry up, man. Got my wallet, my wallet still in my pocket. Give it to one of them. No, don't open it. Give it to one of them. Hey, throw it. Throw it. Throw it. Throw it. Throw it. I don't give a [ __ ] Kill you. Okay. He can try. I ain't [ __ ] Well, whatever. Take me. Hey. Yeah. Get my keys back. Appreciate you, bro. Take me wherever the got to take me. Hurry up. Close the door. I don't want to talk to you, [ __ ] Why are you socked up, bro? Don't try to talk to me. Your passenger was hiring me and then I don't know what the was going on, [ __ ] You break check me or whatever. I don't know if he said something or something. Looking at me wrong with him, dude. I'm just I was trying to get in traffic and then pointed at me and I'm like, "What the point?" Listen, calm down. Why are we so Why Why are we so up here? Cuz I fine, but y'all ain't doing nothing with your job. I seen y'all doing escort for the brink or whatever. If y'all was doing whatever, I don't get but like I said, y'all was holding up traffic. Girls got kept behind me. I'm like you. Like I said, I'm okay. But when the blueheads come on, you have to stop. Okay. You also I pulled up. You also can't drive 50 mph in a 25 mile zone. Yeah, I know. But you're doing it. You blocked it. Yeah. You were estimated at that speed. All right. Estimated. Yep. You were estimated, right? Right. Still can't do it. Okay. And then when the blades come on, you can't get out of the car. I know. But you did it. Take that. So y'all didn't think I was trying to hand something off. You were handing stuff off. I handed out batteries. Go check the bag. Listen, you can't do that, bro. I know this process, bro. What's next? I'm just trying to explain things to you. Making a scene for no reason. What's next? This could have went totally different. You upset. What's next? I'm not upset at all. I'm trying to calm you down. or what? Well, I'm not upset. No one's upset, dude. Nobody's upset. Whoever choked me is whoever did all the extra. That's it. That's that. Like I said, I put my hands behind my back cuz tried to tackle me and failed. Then the other tried to help and fail. And then I still got on my knees and put my hands behind my back and somebody still sitting there and try to [ __ ] choke me. You didn't get choked. You didn't get choked. You didn't get choked. No, you tried. Like I said, you wasn't strong enough. Yeah. Like I said, do whatever you got to do. Nobody's trying to choke you. Nobody tried to do anything. Hurry up. During a routine traffic stop, police can search a vehicle if they have probable cause or reasonable suspicion. If a suspicious package is found, officers can inspect it under exceptions to the Fourth Amendment, such as the plain view doctrine. If the package contains illegal items, the driver could face charges like drug possession or distribution with penalties depending on the contents. You do seem like a pretty chill dude. Can I talk to you? You cool with that? Yeah. So, I just want you to know that we would have stopped you. We would have told you that, "Hey, man, you're going way too fast around where people live." And that's literally all that we would have done. You know what I'm saying? I'll be honest with you. We probably would have asked you to search your car. You could have said yes or no. We would have done it or not. And then we'd be like, "Bro, slow down." None of this. We'd be gone. You'd be doing whatever you were doing. We'd be doing whatever we were doing. You know what I'm saying? Like I get you don't like us, but man, it's just we don't know what you're doing or your intentions are when one you got to the car, we tell you to get back in the car and you just proceed to do whatever you were doing. We don't know if there's a kilo of dope in that or a gun and you're a felon. You're trying to give it off to your mom. Like we don't know. You know what I'm saying? We have no idea. I just want you to like get where we're coming from. We're not just out to get you, man. And especially in this world, I know that's I'm still your goddamn worries out. Exactly, dude. People got out here shooting everybody all the time. We're not We're here looking for bad people doing bad things. You know what I'm saying? That's literally like we're right here. Just trying to suppress the violence cuz people get shot. Hello. Hi. All right. Sarah from Tell the Truth. Yes, ma'am. Okay. What's going on? Uh on today's date, a short time ago, um I observed this vehicle who was involved in a vehicle pursuit months prior. Got my attention. Um it was behind us. A plane closed detective observed him going well over 50 mph in a 25 mph posted zone. Uh initiated traffic stop based on the speed. Um once the vehicle did stop, uh the driver here, the only passenger of the vehicle, exited the vehicle, told him multiple times to get back in the car. He proceeded to take a bag and walk it to I believe his family to hand it to his family. Um he was not walking slow. Got out, told him to get in the car and grabbed the bag and attempted to take him away from that. He continued to resist. Uh we going to the ground to where he was then placed in handcuffs just looking for obstruction. We have spoken about this. I just I hate to to even be here honestly. Okay. And is there any concern of the bag itself that I need to know about? The bag contained batteries. Come on now. Use some common sense, sir. You know it. So, it appeared to be It's not funny because it appeared to be a safety issue. And had it been the other way around and you would have been the person concerned of your safety, you would have thought the same thing. And that's where the concern is. Am I correct? Absolutely. Thank you. So that's a concern. So and that's not nothing abusing about that because honestly I'm not laughing at you like that. I'm just saying. But your safety could have been an issue, too. That's what you want. You know, that's why it's nonbiased to hear what's going on. That's why this is in place. Yes. I I do not work for the police department. I do not work for anybody in here. We're part of the court system. And so my process and what I've said to you, sir, was based on hearing the probable cause. So if I said the same things that they said, then I said it for a reason because it could have been very very serious. More importantly, very serious for your safety, which I don't know that you're perceiving how important that is. I I've been in these situations enough. I understand that part. But like I said, I've been in these enough to know he wasn't going to shoot me over back with batteries. Unless he's scared or something or I scared him. I'm walking away. He told me to get back in the car. I hand the batteries. Then he taggled. Tried to tag. Like I said, my bad. What's next? I don't know. All right, Mr. Brown. So, let me ask you some questions if that's the way you feel. Do you realize I will articulate that to the court? All right, Mr. ground. So, there is a section of the scale checklist, the reason that I kept asking you the same questions over and over and asking you about the situation that I have to actually check on whether you would continue to obstruct. And I did list in here that you continue to express um your lack of caring for the situation, said you didn't care if you were shot, didn't care about officer safety if you stayed in jail, and you were given multiple chances to um rethink and obey the conditions of that because I did ask you multiple times. So based on that, sir, I'm going to push you in front of the judge. I did say you were cooperative otherwise and you have really nothing else on your history. You'll go for an arraignment at 8:30 in the morning in general district court. Okay. All right. Thank you, sir. Thank you, ma'am. Have a seat and I'll get you in a second. As the man is arrested and processed, the case takes its next step toward the courtroom. This arrest is just the beginning of what could be a long legal journey with every detail of the investigation and the trial set to shape his future. The system is in motion and now it's up to the courts to decide what comes next. Hi, how are you? I'm speech police. Good. Do you have your license registration and insurance? No worries. Where you guys coming from tonight? Asbury. Asbury? Where at? Low dive. Low dive. Yeah. Okay. Do you have your registration? Why are we being pulled over? I'll let you know right when I get all of her documents. Thank you. No worries. While you're looking for that, um, the reason I stopped you, you failed to maintain your lane multiple times on Ocean Avenue, so I just wanted to make sure you're okay to drive. I'm okay. I just don't have my glasses and it's late. No worries. Anything to drink tonight? I had like one tequila shot at 11 p.m. Okay, that's it. Yeah, tired. Okay, no worries. Usually go to bed at 9:00 p.m. Okay, I'm getting him home. He DJed a set tonight. I was just Where did you DJ at? Low dive. We did a birthday party. Oh, okay. Yeah, it was nice. We stayed out late, obviously, and it's just I don't have my glasses on. Okay, so I apologize. No worries. Just hang tight for me, okay? Just keep looking for those other uh documents. Not every late night drive ends with flashing lights and handcuffs, but when it does, it's usually the little things that tip police off. In this case, a few lane deviations, a late tequila shot, and a missing pair of glasses set the stage for what quickly escalated into a full DWI arrest. Yeah, I was passenger side. Um, just her. She has her I think it's her boyfriend in the car, so I don't know. She said she had a tequila shot around 11:00. Um, that was it. Yeah, she said that was it. She does seem tired. Pretty pretty like uh bad meming, too. Not bad, but it was definitely multiple times. Pull her out. Hello. Hi, I'm Officer Goes with Moth Beach Police. Um, so the officer said that you were swerving a little bit and then she said she smelled alcohol coming out of the car. Just want to make sure you're okay to drive. Would you mind stepping out doing a few field sprite tests to make sure you're all right? Yeah. Okay. You said what? You just had one tequila shot. That was it? 11 p.m. 11 p.m. Okay. Nothing else all day, though. I didn't eat much today. Okay. You can just walk over. This is very late. It's very what? It's very late. It is late. Okay, great. Um, since you're about the same height as me, I'm going to have you stand right where I'm at facing the sidewalk. You can stand on the in the street facing the sidewalk. Do you have any issues with your eyes? I need my glasses, but they're at home. You have glasses? Yeah, like two miles up the road. Okay. Any anything else? Do you wear uh contacts tonight? Okay. Do you have any eye issues? a little bit. Like what? And I mean at night it's a little bit harder to see stops and signs. Okay. That's why I have my I left my glasses at home tonight. I wasn't really planning on driving, but Okay. My boyfriend drank a little too much, so I had to step in. Gotcha. Okay. So, what I'm going to have you do is get in the start position for this test, which is your feet together just like this and your hands down by your sides. I want you to stay in that position until I tell you to begin. Do you understand? Yes. Okay. So, can you see the red light on that tip of that pen? Okay. Yes. Any problem seeing it? No. What I want you to do is I want you to follow that red light with your eyes and your eyes only don't move your head. Do you understand? Yes. Okay. Once you combine even slight swerving with those admissions, officers legally had no choice but to proceed further. Still, it's a tough arrest to watch because it's clear she wasn't being reckless or belligerent. She was just tired, impaired, and trying to do the right thing by driving her boyfriend home. Unfortunately, the law isn't based on intentions. It's based on ability to drive safely. And here by the book, she crossed the line. Okay, I'm going to go up this time. Okay. And officer, I do have the utmost respect for the law. You have what? I have the utmost respect for Okay, I appreciate that. Just keep following that red light. Okay. All right. You just step on the sidewalk up here. Okay. You want to do the rest of them? Yeah. Okay. All right, miss. So, um, next test I'm going to do with you is called the walk and turn test. Do you have any physical injuries or disabilities that would prevent you from doing a balance test? I hit legs today pretty hard. You hit legs today? any type of physical injuries or disabilities though? No. Okay. So, I'm going to start off by putting you in the start position for this test. I want you to imagine a line right in front of you. And I want you to put your left foot on that line just like this. Put your right foot touching heel toe with your left foot. Just like this. Touching like this. Touching. Yeah. See, you're not you're not you're not touching. Perfect. Keep your hands down by your sides. This is the start position for the walk and turn test. I want you to remain in that position until I tell you to begin. Do you understand that? Yes. Okay, great. So, I'm going to go ahead and demonstrate the test for you now. You want me to do them from here? Great. You got it. Sorry. Do you want to do the test or you want me to do them from here? It's up to you. I can do them. If you want, you can do them. All right. So, he put you in the starting position. So, that left foot is on the line and that right foot is touching heel to toe. Straight. Yep. I'm going to get there. Okay. Just give me one second and I'll explain. Okay. So, you're going to keep your hands down by your side and you're going to stay in this position until I tell you to begin. Okay. So, you're going to take nine heel totoe steps down that line. I'm going to demonstrate. It's going to look like this. One, two, three. At the end of your last step, you're going to leave your lead foot on the line. You're going to take a series of small steps and you're going to continue down that line. One, two, three. I did three. You're going to do nine. So, I did three. You're going to do nine. For the purposes of the demonstration, I did three. So, again, Nine spin nine. So you're going to do nine heel to toe steps down that line with a series of small steps, keeping your lead foot on the line with nine heel totoe steps back down the line. You're going to look down at your feet, count your steps out loud, keeping your hands down by your sides, taking the nine heel to toe steps back. And don't stop the test until the test is complete. Do you understand these instructions? Yes, ma'am. You may begin. Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Yes. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Okay, so the next test is going to be the one leg stand. You're going to stand with your feet together and your hands down by your side. Okay. Again, I'm going to demonstrate it and then when I tell you to begin, you're going to begin. Do you understand? Yes. Okay. I hope I can do it just because my legs are kind of sore. No worries. I'll take it into account. Okay. So, you're going to raise one foot either of your choosing approximately six inches off the ground. Trying to see which legal. No worries. So, you're going to take either of either leg of your choosing and you're going to lift your foot 6 inches off the ground. It's approximately the size of a soda can. Okay? You're going to keep your foot parallel to the ground and you're going to count aloud. 1,00 1,002 1 3. So, it's going to look like this. 100 1 2 100 3 and so on until I tell you to begin. So, you're going to look down at the top of your toe. You're going to keep your foot parallel to the ground. You're going to count your count out loud 100 1,002 100 3 until I tell you to do you understand? Yes. You may be good. Just keep your hands down by your side. If you put your foot down, just keep going from where you started. Stopped. Okay. So, we'll start over. Ready? So, when you put your foot down, if you go 100,00 1,002, you put your foot down, just pick it back up and continue to count where you're from. Does that make sense? Okay. You may begin. 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 20101 2012 2013 2014 2015 201623 2024 Can I switch legs? Nope. Keep going. Okay. 1252627. You can just hang tight for me. Okay. Under New Jersey statute, a person is guilty of DWI if they operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs to a degree that makes it unsafe. Importantly, New Jersey is a zero tolerant state when it comes to impaired driving. Even minimal visible impairment, such as lane violations and unsteady balance, is enough to justify a DWI charge, even without an exact blood alcohol content, BAC, at that moment. Once a driver is arrested for DWI in New Jersey, John's law, named after a tragic DUI related fatality, requires mandatory impoundment of the vehicle for at least 12 hours. It doesn't matter if someone else is sober and can come pick up the car. The car must be towed, stored, and held non-negotiable. Just put your hands behind your back. Got one female 41 450. You're being placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. You can do 20inut observation. Is this just your phone? All right. I'm going to take it out of your pocket. Okay. What's your cross on cross is Riverview Road. Sorry. Give me a second. I'm going to put your phone up here. Okay. I didn't eat all day. All right. Do you feel like you're going to get sick? Kind of because like I wasn't I was just trying to get home. Okay, no worries. Do you want me to start first aid for you? No, you don't have to do that. No, I was just trying to go home. I understand. Hey sir, just you know she's getting arrested for DWI. Okay. She's you think she's too intoxicated to drive, right? So I'm not sure where you guys are going. Um but you're going to have to get a ride there unless you want to be transported back to our headquarters along with her. My vehicle's just going to stay here. No, it's getting towed. It has to get impounded for 12 hours. Towed? Yes. It's a law called John's law in New Jersey. If a driver is getting arrested of DWI, car has to get impounded for a minimum of 12 hours. All right. Have to pay to get it out. If the tow truck driver charges your fee, then yes, that's not up to us, though. All right. Well, you might as well just put me with her then. Where you guys headed to? I own a house in Highlands. In Highlands. Okay.
