my ID I'm from Florida you know so it's a fake ID with the check with my name and told them the story that y told me to tell them and now I'm being arrested please you come with me nope please I beg apart these con artists built their lives on Deception stealing from innocent people without remorse but when the truth caught up with them the downfall was brutal she got this check for just under $440,000 she deposited it Thea phone good morning3 1 73 this morning mind you this was done on the 30th right the 30th or the 31st 30th okay so like two days ago Monday which means the check probably is not going to clear in two days right so she goes to two ATMs deposits or withdraws $1,000 each she then goes to cimi branch and withdraws $20,000 she then comes here and is wanting to clear out the recipe count which is equivalent to what 177,000 17,000 and some probably some change they called the bank obviously because of a large amount of money to verify whether or not this check is legit they said no it's a fraudulent check they don't have a she is not their client um they said they had a a fraud from their business where whole bunch of checks were stolen or information they don't have a check that starts with that account number the they took the information from it looks like they so yeah so she it was good timing cuz as you guys were coming in she was trying to leave so I kind of explained to her like man you know hey don't leave just yet like she's like well I've been here in a hot minute I understand that but just understand that you're trying to withraw a large of money and usually people call ahead of time so they're trying to gather whatever they need kind of bought us some time um and told her like hey just hang out for a few more minutes while I'm try to figure it out I was like I'm here because one I'm working for the bank but two it's a large amount of money so we just want to that obviously nothing happens so but yeah they called but as you can see the memo says settlement proceeds but the top says payroll checking so that's kind of what Drew their attention like is this payroll or is this a settlement a woman named Aisha Adams attempted a large Bank withdrawal raising suspicion from the teller and an on-site officer under us law such actions can lead to Serious legal consequences but when they called and verified please please please this is a fraudulent check we don't have a check that starts in this in this check sequence um that's the business that said that so they called they called the business business and they talked to somebody and that's how they found out like hey this check doesn't exist it's it's a fraud so she's she seems pretty calm but I think she's starting to get a little nervous okay um she was trying to leave the the primary will be here in a minute so we'll just make sure she doesn't go I yeah I was literally just typing reports I know I was actually going to the that's my job that's $177,000 I'm not losing my job over I'm sorry um have we contacted the owner of the check and see if they want that's she said that if we do we can she gave me her email she's the manager of the law firm and she said we get a report and everything we can also forward it to them so they can right but do they do they want to prosecute yes I asked them yeah yeah so as long as we have contact information all that yeah I'll got you and I can call her again and get everything from her um we'll get you started on a statement in the meantime just to kind of have you told us yeah that get that so I was like I was like Excuse witness he's like my Lord I I saw so what happened at the time with the accident M I was going straight I had the right away it was a green light the car turned and hit me um in my Chevy to 2015 Chevy anything like he made it seem like I was trusting him to get me you know finances for my injury and you trusted him I did did you give him your information what information did you provide I gave him he needed my social my name my date of birth my address and um he asked me if I had a Navy Federal and for the account number and I I did provide that to why did he ask you that I thought him as a lawyer he just needed it okay how long you been a member with Navy Federal Credit uh since 2019 M 18 19 how many accounts would you say you have uh two debits and I have a credit a secur credit card and I have a savings M okay what do you do for a living I work at Progressive on a customer service rep Progressive Insurance okay so you typically know how accidents work I don't do claims you don't do claims I just help them get a policy or change coverages and take pay okay um about roughly how much you make there I make $21 an hour about 16 every two weeks okay 16 17 every two weeks mhm how long you been with Progressive uh for year and some change year and a half okay so tell me what happened today like what what have you been doing today oh today I picked up my niece um we were going to get some she had an appointment and she needed to get her we're having a fraternity photo shoot Thursday so John Lon created your account that's who met me and he has access to your account how I gave him the information what information did you give him everything he asked for but he didn't dep positive check into your account why why would he he has access to your account why would he mail it if he can just deposit it into your account if he has access that doesn't make sense does it my account was um closed and two more open because someone logged into it so guessing that's why he decided to send the check out Miss Adam this not does not look good for you I'm trying to get you to kind of help yourself in this situation we have access to a lot of things and what you're telling me just don't ma match up this account that you have you opened it just a few days ago cuz my other one got closed because of the login someone logged into my account from a fraud device did record did you record it on the phone and they gave me those two new account why was it recorded for fraud my activity the device that signed on to my phone was a fraud device that's what the me on the phone she said it was a it was blocked as a f device so they had to close my to accounts down giv me two new account numbers but it kept the same debit cards and what do you use this account for mostly when I'm doing like promotions stuff like that what do you promote uh clothes I do on Tik Tok mhm and then when I get paid from that that goes into that account that's usually all I use name Federal for do you make pretty good money from that was that the accounts you were using that you Clos that money was going into those accounts okay and how long were you doing the promoting for the close two years now two years okay is that all you want to say to me [Music] today I get with the officer and then we'll let you know what goes from here she was charged under bank fraud and identity fraud also she faced severe penalties but cooperated revealing others involved in exchange she received 5 years of probation likely fearing a harsher sentence so the lady behind me yeah supposedly is trying to open up a get a new apartment here using the victim's name who is overseas in the military right now no way I believe you spoke with the other officer about yes her some papay for yep so that's going to be right here here's her money orders she was supposed to move in yesterday and then uh I guess push it off because she figured management wouldn't be here today and whatnot but is she going to be taken Georgia ID with your case on it that was sub minute to actually I'm going be honest with you um she asked me can I send her a a picture of me so I'm thinking you know she know my name you know T but when she said picture I'm like okay well maybe they just need it that's when she gave me the driver's license with my face and I say wait how my face got on who is this you know and I asked I say how my face get on the ID and she said oh um what she tell me she was like don't B don't worry about it you good you in good hands I said yeah but who who is this like who is the actual I said o and I told her I said I was scared and she was like ain't nothing to be scared about and I said well I ain't want to but I seen she a boyfriend with her and I know her boyfriend do the most she scared of I'm scared of I've always been for years so I just was like well he was standing right there so I didn't want to do it and I told her I said I didn't feel comfortable and she was just like bab you all but more before that right before that uh about 2 days before two days ago more little story she asked me to send her a picture of me and I was like um okay you can't go on my Facebook you know and with her um so the whole time when she asked me for the picture two days prior of yesterday when I seen her yesterday and met with her she had a boyfriend with her she gave me an ID when she gave me the ID my face was on the ID and she was like you just got to pick up keys I was like to pick up the keys they couldn't just let me the she was like um no you just be her going there and get the keys so at that point that's when I became guilty of anything that had trans Frid today what are you what are you guilty of specifically I'm kind of lost using she gave me it's not my ID I'm from Florida the keys whenever so you did do paperwork in the leasing office I just um signed signed the name and then did you give them an ID when you were you didn't give them ask for no so it seems like we're all on the same feature identity theft is is a serious crime that has major ramifications to I know I do know right being in possession of a of a fake ID is illegal correct and that's why I I appreciate your honesty here but and I I knew I up when I had seen it yesterday and took it from her so I have to take full responsibility of that well you are under arrest today so put your hands have to go in cash this check and that would help me with my rent how well you know I R for a couple months is your only job serving I'm not getting I'm working two days a week not enough you knew this was a fraud you want check I just knew that they were biing me a check that you knew was fraud you went I don't know I I don't know where they got it you showed up here in Scrubs with a account today in his account in this account off of this account that's why it it triggered to he hit so many other so he probably hit another T thir TD Bank he had third TD Bank all right it's not me honey honey you walked in here and told me that you did work as a nurse for these people you know that this is a fraudulent check there has been a ring of these fraudulent checks going around of these think it was a Buick that's what looked like it was like a burnt orange kind of carette orange car was it like a SUV sedan or was it like a like a hatchback okay do you know like did it look newer or old sorry she said SUV yeah SUV newer older newer older probably newer cuz the screen was all like touch screen inside so honest and truthful and giving you the information from the source is not what I'm getting listed today most likely call him is she telling us who the person at one it's it's a guy that she met a couple months ago and was giving her a ride hello hello are you good like 3,000 and then she gave me another 300 after that and I put them in the in the machine to check if they're real and then uh I put the just put all of it in the tail okay so she counted 3,000 did you count 3,000 back to her yeah every single time yeah and then she gave 300 after that what's that mean or you mean you counted 3,000 1,000 three separate times yeah then she laid three more hundred 300 more on that yeah okay and you counted that back to her so you stuck $3,300 in the till yeah okay that's what I thought yeah at what point was all of that money laying out there and you not watching it when I was putting it in the machine to test it okay well how many did you test uh like four or five okay or can you find on your camera that while he's testing it while you're testing the four or five um you have your back to it nobody else is watching $3,000 correct no okay um when did she start dealing with Rosa the other cashier and when did the other items come into play um I'm pretty I of date of birth is okay so apparently she's done this before this was back in May of this year they're part of a huge uh theft ring and um you should see the data that Walmart has on them I mean they're hitting yall's Walmart too they're hitting every Walmart pretty much but all over the US it's like millions of dollars they're they're Romanian um gang or whatever not gang but they're they're basically the modern Romanian um anyway but they're they're all yeah Mafia type stuff and they're all like family and it's not just in Washington it's around the it's the whole us that's why she puts it in different Stacks yes a because he counted the first stack yeah okay one so he's counting it and he's fake checking them he only checks three of them okay and he assumes the rest are okay okay so he takes the second ah why didn't he put it in the register that's what he should at least put Out Of Reach right he did well with the merchandise you stuck it down there yeah yeah she's got it ready as soon as you know it's kind of like gambling he's not going to count one of them she's got that much money it must be real third fourth so this is to take it all back mhm why is he not seeing counted it then she she SL SL SL of hands yes the money off of the off of the thing and then gives the rest back to him correct minus approximately whatever yes and assuming he won't count it again and most of them don't brand new that's what they yes there's times to walk around in the store looking for new Associates if they don't see any they'll just walk out oh okay I got it the woman was booked for second degree theft and linked to a $140,000 retail scam across California and Nevada her real identity remains unknown officers advised Walmart to monitor a cashier though no evidence links them to the crime
