Yeah. >> What is that? >> Where we're going to seize it and confiscate it for drug asset forfeite. >> Huh? So, how can I don't have drugs and I'm the owner. How can I get my >> Ma'am? Ma'am, listen to me. All right. Not only does he have drugs on him and he ran from me, there's shake two digital scales within your car. Okay. You have open alcohol in your car. [Music] >> Okay. So, let's let's just stop. [Applause] Is he still here? >> Then who is yelling? >> Somebody is probably disturbed right now from all the yelling and stuff going on out here. >> And you can you can go to that hearing and tell them, "Hey, tell them tell them your case on the car." >> Oh, and give me my tickets so I can go to court. I won't miss the court then. I won't be next. >> Like I said, you don't need to get everything out right now. We We will get it to you. >> Why you taking my keys? My car keys. >> Cuz we need to tow your car. >> I get it. But why you taking the key? >> Cuz the key needs to go with the car. >> Goes with the car. >> I'll take my way home. >> All right. You have all the stuff you need right now. All right. I'll give a ride to Ashberry. >> You want to You want to search me again? Y'all see the stuff I got? >> I searched you. >> You seen the stuff I got? Like >> I searched you bag's been searched. >> Go ahead and get >> Go and get in my car. You You got the toe then? >> Yep. Okay. >> Nope. Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and canine handler. The tactic this suspect is utilizing at the initial portion of this video, where he's angry and confrontational with these cops and tells them right away that there was no good reason for them to pull them over is incredibly common. And of course, the suspect knows why he got pulled over. Even his girlfriend knows why. It's just a giant game at the end of the day. Even though, in my opinion, the main officer here did a terrific job in deescalating this situation. And obviously he has a trainee with him, meaning a rookie or a newer that he's trying to teach the ropes to essentially and trying to tell him this is how you deescalate a situation like this. But in my experience, traditionally people like this suspect that will behave that way automatically usually will have additional things going on with them that are illegal, meaning warrants for their arrest, illegal drugs, illegal firearms. They put on this big act or show because they believe it will have a psychological effect on these cops. Meaning officers will not want to deal with this suspect longer than they have to because he is so unpleasant to interact with. And the suspect probably thinks that they will just try to expedite this stop, release him and his girlfriend. Law enforcement will leave the area and they'll just be on their way scot-free. However, usually that has the exact opposite effect. These suspects will want it to have, especially because he's on parole, meaning he's been to prison before for drug offenses from what it sounds like, and he has a search term as part of his conditions of release. And that gives law enforcement the legal justification to search him and his person or any vehicles that he has ultimate care and control over. Additional cops showed up. The suspect fought them too and they ended up tasing him also. So to overcome resistance, affect the arrest and prevent escape, they were using that reasonable force necessary to affect that arrest to minimize injuries to everybody involved. And of course the suspect's girlfriend is lying. She knew exactly what he was doing. She had also opened containers in the vehicle, but she is just saying all of that, of course, because she doesn't want her car towed. But in a lot of states, they have asset forfeite laws set up like this officer states, article 36, that gives law enforcement the right to confiscate vehicles that were utilized during the commission of certain crimes. So, for example, this crime, the suspect had a large quantity of narcotics on him, they are able to articulate that that quantity was large enough for sales of that narcotic, then that would qualify. And in certain circumstances, the people that own these vehicles do not get them back. But it can definitely be a big deal and prevent someone from maintaining their vehicle, even if they weren't driving. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. >> He was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, and two counts of aggravated resisting arrest along with unlawful possession of in a vehicle by the driver. As always, he remains innocent until proven guilty. [Music] [Music]
