Albuquerque New Mexico when 31-year-old Christina Bennett was taken into custody following the of her 4-month-old child police responded to a disturbing 911 call where a hysterical neighbor reported that Ben had casually mentioned her baby was right after asking for a lighter when First Responders arrived they found Bennett clutching the lifeless infant while refusing medical assistance how long was the baby uh down you know she just come to the door the baby I the last night and go over there and respond to Christina she do DRS okay they're they're trying to do their best they're going to be bab okay what did I do what did I do what did I do I know let me Che my bab let me check my bab right now later authorities discovered that Christina Bennett was connected to a theft incident at a nearby gas station a few days earlier and that she had an active felony warrant for child her erratic Behavior also suggested potential drug use or mental instability but under New Mexico law neither excuses criminal liability for child neglect even if she didn't intend to K the baby her actions meet the legal standard for reckless endangerment close uh were you here pres when the baby was inside uses no she she says that she does dope and stuff like that and and she usually like sucks all her blood and puts it back in and then she uses the water from her sink and then put it back in her bloodstream I keep on telling her that's wrong and but she doesn't like to listen to me because she thinks something useless or something like that and I asked her if she's doing drugs and she said no does she ever doing like that around Amelia yes all the damn time at the trailer what what does she do like a dop and like she keeps them doing she she had the baby sitting in her lap when video chat me she had the baby sitting in her lap and I seen the syringe okay and that was last night correct yeah yeah how did you do you video chat through FaceTime yes FaceTime following this officers contacted the children's Youth and fames Department to report the incident and provide details on what what allegedly happened no matter what sentence this horrible mother got it could never compensate for the years of her child's life that she ignorantly stole her most recent case closed in 2020 or March of this year okay um she's got drug charges and lack of supervision um and inadequate clothing on okay that one was substantiated in 2017 also in 2017 um emotional was substantiated on the two older girls be one in what was January um educational neglect on the girls on okay that one was unset and then um lack of supervision on and Amelia that was unet as well so Christina right now we going wait till the detectives get here they come talk with you okay and I think I I talked to you about it but the kid has bruising on eyelids shoulder and ribs yeah yeah I mean and then her her thing was she shows up here at about 9:119 and says you guys have a lighter and they're like where's the baby and she the fire guys told me what they just when they grabbed the baby the guy that was working on told me I think she was at least 30 minutes before we touched yes so she was probably driving around yeah and that's why I think she told them no baby's de but then all sudden wants to go check on the baby I tried to loosen your cuffs last time and you tried to you tried you tried to kick through the door you wouldn't even let me open the door cuz I I asked you and then you tried to kick through the door again I'm not doing it okay but I did I not give you that option what was the deal I said if you don't fight me I'll lose and as soon as I open that door you started fighting okay are you listening to me I told you not to open it or not to fight and I would open that door as soon as I open that door he started kicking he wouldn't let me get some keys and you try to kick the door open did you not that's [Music] why Christina was begging and pleading with her daughter to be reasonable with as usual cuz she's abusive and Lily got the camera on her and showed her that she had a heart B in her hand at that point finally believed what I've been telling her yeah for a week or two she's on drugs she's given her daughter mother's mail the baby's going to be getting drugs she finally believed that she called you guys immediately but nobody went over to the address where she said the truck that that devil truck right there that one nobody found that truck in front of the address that she G so now okay well let me back up later that night Christina shows up I guess down the right front of her house and jumps out and gets in the house and and then Christina's out here for another two hours probably shooting up in front of our neighbor's house and that's the last we saw of her this morning Diana got up and made a nice breakfast for me and her granddaughter and about 15 minutes later here's a knock at the door and everybodyy starts screaming the baby's not breathing the baby's not breathing so I call 91 one next thing you know you guys are here now a little late somebody should have done their diligence yesterday and the baby would still be alive had that been done boy kind of late now for that poor four-month old baby my mother's milk here gosh I mean she called I told you guys well not you guys but somebody in the police department she told them so how come the baby's now unfortunately sir I don't have an answer oh no you don't know it's a rhetorical question I know sorry but I just want I know none of you guys none of you guys standing in front of me here are responsible but still and I understand that you're upset and I I can never understand exactly what you guys are going through right now so I don't want to even push medicine he needs real medicine that's what he needs how long has he had anyth concerns he was diagnosed prob about 6 years ago yeah and this was whenever we lived in Pittsburgh and it wasn't it wasn't that bad back then but I've been with him for 11 years it was never this bad and like he let himself go he just you know he didn't look as as he I haven't seen any talk today yet I'm just telling you as his wife you know he's not properly taking care of himself and I mean I don't have any with the kids he's he'll take care of the P for himself you know I've known for 11 years and so arrest the woman as well after confirming the condition of the kids and her negligence Cassie quick wanted to skip school skip parenting and Skip basic human decency but there's one thing she won't be skipping prison time so what's happening is I get you're in a really difficult situation yeah my one of my contact people actually just arrived um she brought somebody with her to take the car over to the crack parking lot so that it's at least I know where it's at be back to get me to get me home so if you want to talk to her whatever be here that's what we're going to explain to you is what's for them to keep them alive and healthy you have to provide schooling and the state of Porter is required that you provide it and that they're tested and so that they actually have a chance in the future you can't just go off with a book or some online thing program you have to do a structured program improved by the state of Florida or they have to go to school you also have to bathe them daily they can't go to bed dirty like they are God it's full of germs and it's not helpful that's that's not taking care of their health but you've got to you've got to provide for them they they were
