I came to pick on my children. I came to pick on my children. I came to pick on my children. Yep. That's not going to work. All right. At this time, you are being placed under a rush to drive under the influence of alcohol chemical control substance. Hey, I'm behind your back. As a parent, it's your job to protect your children. But when you consume copious amounts of alcohol, not only are you incapable of looking after yourself, but your children, too. And if you're caught drinking when you should be looking after them, you'll surely learn what happens when cops save babies from drunk parents. Listen, you're under arrest, okay? For driving on the influence of alcohol beverage. You understand? You're going to jail. That's where we're going. We're not going anywhere else but jail. This is jail. Okay, that's where you're going. On May 1st, 2024, officers spotted a car driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, they became suspicious that she was under the influence of alcohol. To make matters worse, she had a 5-year-old child in the back seat. You're going to find officer. Hi, Amanda. How are you? Hi. How are you? How you doing over here? Um, I'm good. unlocked him. Okay, I'm going to walk. You can walk and get me down here real quick. I got him. I got him. I got him. He's going to ma'am. I need you to come my way. Okay. He under the m. All right. Yes. Come down here and let me speak to you. I'm going to go in the shade. All right. It's too hot for me over here. Yes, sir. Okay. The sergeant pulled you over for some violations, trapping your fractions. Okay. Yes. I ran a stop sign. Okay. You ran a stop sign. All right. I'm also here that the sergeant suspects that you've been uh you're under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Okay. And I'm here to dispel that belief whether you are and whether you're not. Okay. Okay. Judging from the woman's droopy eyes alone, you can make an informed guess that she was under the influence. To lay suspicions to rest, the officers asked the woman if she was willing to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, to which she agreed. Keep washing the P. Count out nine steps. Heel the toe. Okay. One. No. Ma'am, are you refusing to continue exercises? No, I don't. Is that Are you refusing to continue the exercises? No. What? I'm not. No, I'm not refusing. 2 3 4 5 6 7 Oh, shoot. You let me do this. What? One, two, three. One 10,000. One 100 1,00 2 1. Keep going till I say stop. Oh, one one. Dude, come on. Come on. What? All right. One, two. Okay. Needless to say, the woman failed every test miserably. Understanding that she performed poorly, she asked to repeat the test multiple times. However, judging from her initial performances, all the attempts in the world wouldn't be enough. Can I just see something going through your pocket? Don't go for that. No, no, no, no. I'm I'm not going to hurt you. Okay. Yeah. Turn around. Don't keep it. Can't b it back. Don't get a resistant charge. Okay. Bring you in and you will give me opportunities. No. Okay. The breath test. All right. If you get a resistant charge, then you definitely go to jail. Okay. Okay. So, stop holding my hand. Just relax now. I understand. We're going to do that right now, but we have to transport you and you have to be in handcuffs to transport. Okay. The woman began acting aggressively, pulling away from the officers as they attempted to tighten the cuffs. She seemed surprised that she was being arrested, which was strange considering how poorly she performed the field sobriety tests. Next, the officers walked her to the cruiser. All right, let's watch the park. Which side? Uh, other side. Other side. Yep. Is there anything illegal in your purse, in your pockets, or anything? Uh, no. You touch it. We're going this way. Listen, here's the thing. Tell no, Amanda, here's the thing. If if you see me with my If you resist me, okay, there'll be another charge. Get out my weirdo. Hey, I'll go. I'll go easy. Hey, check outside. You just got to make sure you don't have anything. The woman was searched and placed in the back of the cruiser. Initially, she seemed like she was going to cooperate, but whether or not it was the alcohol talking, she eventually took a defiant stance and decided to do anything but comply. Sit in the car. Listen. Oh my good. I'm fine, bro. Put your feet in the car. I can't get in my hand like this. Put your feet in the car. Everybody does. Okay, you can do it. Wow. Just put go butt first and and have a seat split in. Okay. Fine. Take this off my face. Take my Yes. Thank you, dude. Over a little, please. Got it. B. Okay. Hold that. Keep your foot in the car. The woman said she was close with an officer from their department and demanded to speak to him. officer. The officers told her they would make the call, but whether or not they were just saying that to get her to cooperate was unknown. After that, the woman was transported to the police station. [Music] Yeah. I'm not like that's policy. You got to be in that in that position for me have a phone or anything here with them. That's what officer aren't using the phone with the sergeant now. While they continued on their way to the police station, one of the officers noticed that the woman had slipped her cuffs. As a result, they had to make a pit stop to tighten them. It should have been a quick fix. However, the woman didn't want to make it easy. Don't stay in. Oh, give me your hand. Which hand? This hand. Give me this hand. Listen. This is not going to go well for you. Hey, I'm not Listen. Give me the other hand. Give me the other hand. Hey, listen. Oh my goodness. Give me the other hand. Get it on my hand. But why are you Give me this arm. Turn around and give me this arm. Why are you so hard? Give me this arm now. I'm not going to hurt you. You need to listen to me when I tell you what to do. Okay. But why you coming so aggressive? Like I'm not going to hurt you whether my hand loose or not. Like why are you so aggressive? Nobody's being aggressive. Yeah, you pulled out your handcuff. Okay. Be late. Ow. Be late. Keep your hands still and that won't hurt. Okay, dude. My hands were still You asked me to do this. Nobody asked you to do anything. You're the one moving around. Really? Okay. Nobody's arrested. Um, listen. You're under arrest, okay? For driving while the influence of alcohol beverage. You understand? You're going to jail. That's where we're going. We're not going to arrest, but jail. Listen. Jail. Okay. That's where you're going. If the woman didn't want the officer to lose his patience with her, she should have followed his orders. With the woman secured in cuffs again, they were finally able to continue their journey. And if you thought the woman's behavior was bad before, you had another thing coming. [Music] Stop banging your head, please. County copy. Take me in. Let's go. Help. Why youing die? Stupid. Really? Could you walk on one leg? She made it sound like standing on one leg was like asking her to do a handstand. The answer was yes. Anyone who wasn't driving around the streets way over the limit could easily pass the field sobriety test. To remove doubts, the officer let the breathalyzer test result do the talking. All right, here. One, two. It's okay. Would you pass that? Yeah. Really? If you get I don't drink. For what? No. No. Honestly, you don't. I need a phone. We're going to get you a phone. A phone call. You don't get one now. You You're not You're not in control of the situation. Okay. Yeah. Right. Damn it. Is this 20 minute observation period now? Um, yeah. You want to go ahead and start to do face to face to face. The seats are hard to get into when you Okay. So, why why is there Why am I Okay, we can start right now. It is. The woman was charged with DUI, firstdegree misdemeanor. In addition, she was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm, a thirdderee felony. Although her behavior was unacceptable, it could have been worse. At least she didn't behave like a drunken lunatic at her child's school like our next suspect. On January 24th, 2024, police officers responded to an urgent call from a school after a parent was spotted driving recklessly. According to reports, witnesses thought the driver was under the influence of alcohol. When the female officer arrived, she quickly located the man casually chatting with other parents. How's it going? What's going on, sir? Okay. Can I talk to you for a second? You're good. You're good. We're good. What's going on? Nothing. What's the problem? No, I'm just check. You here to pick up the kids? Yes. I was just talking to one of the demons. Okay. Any issue when you came in? No. No. No. No. Not that. Not none that I can recollect. No. Okay. Did anybody have to talk to you when you came in? No. Okay. Did you come in too quickly? Did anybody have to stop? No. Normally when we come in, there's a line already and we have two kids and um my son's 10 and my daughter is two. So, it's a and they go to the same school. They both go here. So, okay. And I was just talking to talking with him about parent pickup and other programs with the school. The suspect, Tristan, immediately showed signs of intoxication. Since he was telling a different story, the officer confronted Tristan about what a concerned citizen reported to them. Okay, do me a favor and stop talking for a second. Stop talking for a second so I can explain why I'm here. Let me explain to you why I'm here. Somebody called in that you drove reckless through the parking lot. No, ma'am. And they had to slow you down and that you were kind of slurring your words and you were uneasy on your feet. So now our concern is if you are possibly impaired. But that's what I'm asking you. You're not allowing me to even talk. I promise you every and my wife and myself and if not me and we've never came like that. Okay. And I was just And where's your wife? She's at She's at work. That's why I'm picking up the children. I'm not worried about your wife. I'm talking about for you right now. Okay. So, there's no correct. The officer was done dancing around the question and finally asked Tristan straight up if he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Unsurprisingly, he denied taking anything. And even though concerned parents stopped him for speeding in a school zone, he denied the incident occurred and claimed he wasn't speeding. All I want to know is what I did wrong. And I I just told you. What did I tell you that you did wrong? What did I tell you that they alleged you did wrong? Here. Yes. What I told you, sir. Why was I Why when having a conversation with And again, as as parents of two children here, because of the politicking going on, I don't even know his position, but I was speaking to him. He didn't mention he's not he's not the person that called. No, but he didn't mention no speeding. That's number one. too. She and I'm not blaming her for anything. I mean, if she called and But once I reached to this premises, as of today, nobody said anything. Okay. All I'm telling you, I'm telling you what the complaint to the sheriff's office that came in. The complaint to the sheriff's office is that you were speeding through here when you came in. They had to slow you down and there's a concern when you could be impaired. Tristan said the complaints were incorrect. However, his explanation made no sense at all. In fact, nothing he said made any sense. While the officer waited for backup to arrive, Tristan began walking around with his hands up, making a spectacle of himself. So, I'm trying to talk to him. He's very uh easy. Sir, that is not Hang on. Just let her breathe. Okay, let her let her breathe. You don't need to put your hands up in the air. I'm going to put it No, you don't need to put your hands in the air. You She gave me permission. No, no, no. You never get permission out of your pocket. Just put your hands down. Put your hands down. What's your name? She gave me permission. What's your name? What's your name? Is it Tristan? I've never seen no parent go through this. Okay. Well, put your hand down. I'll put it down. The officer asked Tristan for his license, but he refused to provide it, claiming he was being discriminated against. However, he did provide the officer with his first name. And even after the officers explained the situation to him several times, Tristan still felt the officers were picking on him. No one's arguing that you're here to pick up your children. I told you what to complet my ma'am. I promise through the parking lot. I would never. And the fact that I'm having a difficult time even having a conversation with you concerns me if there's anything going on. That's why I asked you, sir, did you have anything to drink tonight? No, ma'am. And it just No. Any prescription medic? No, ma'am. No. a diabetic? No. And to be honest, these are these are my concerns if there's, you know, just in case. Ma'am, I I promise it was some kind of prescription because when I do get help, I'm What do you mean when you do get help? The officers suspected that prescription medication could be the culprit. But when they pressed him to elaborate, Tristan refused to give them any answers. And when the officers asked him for ID once more, he became downright uncooperative. First, I need your ID. First, I need to verify who I'm speaking to. No, I need your ID. Oh, no. Hey, I refuse. So, that's not an option. You can't refuse that. I'm going to refuse that cuz you know what? I've been here for years and I have never seen I've I've come here for years. I've my son, no disrespect, sir. And again, I have not risen up. I have not done anything to exercise. I need your ID. Tristan refused to cooperate with the officers. He continued playing the victim, pretending he didn't know why he was in trouble. But whether that was just an act or he was just too drunk to catch what the officers were saying, it didn't matter. The officers had seen enough. Look, look. She's opening the car illegally. Wait, no. illegally. No, I'm not doing nothing. No, I'm not. Sir, I'm not. Sir, I'm Sir. Sir, I'm not doing Sir, I'm not doing nothing. Go sit back down. Sir, I'm going to go sit back down. Sir, I'm just simply saying that you guys. Sir, I'm not doing nothing. My hands are right here. My hands are right here. Hold on. Don't do this in front of the kids. I'm going to talk to you. Hold on a second. Not in front of the kids. What can I do? Stop. My I did not I although the officers didn't want to make a scene in front of the children in his intoxicated state. Tristan didn't care. He continued to loudly proclaim his innocence while the children and parents passed. Ma'am, I did not do anything in front of nobody. Okay. Ma'am, I've been picking up my Listen to me. I've been picking up Listen to Listen to me. Ma'am, I've been Ma'am. Ma'am, I've been picking Ma'am, I'm not even Why are you telling me to relax? Because you're you're No, ma'am. I Ma'am, I've been Ma'am, my son is in a in in fourth grade. He's been coming to school for years. I understand that. What did What did I do wrong? The officers told Tristan that he could deny drinking all he wanted, but they could smell it on his breath. It was one of his dumber claims of the day. Tristan had the audacity to tell the officers that they were embarrassing him in public when in reality he was just embarrassing himself. Sit down. Sit down. Before I sit down, call my wife on. You don't You don't bark out orders. Do you understand? I'm not barking out orders. I'm barking on my rights. You you you'll have your right to Yeah, cuz you're embarrassing me in front of my children's classmates and and myself. Take a seat. Okay. No, take a seat. I didn't do nothing wrong. I'm not taking a seat towards my sergeant like that. I'm not stepping towards nobody. Relax. Sit down. Sit down. Just sit down, dude. Hey, just sit down. I didn't do nothing wrong. Why did I do nothing wrong? I didn't do nothing wrong. I don't understand. Watch him. He He works at the school. He works at the school. If you thought Tristan was causing a scene before, you're about to realize he was just warming up. To protect the children from his outburst, the officer escorted him as quickly as possible to their cruiser. But he became so high rate that there was no way they could keep his outburst concealed from the public. Yo, bro. Bro, wait. He just said he don't know who you are. He about to [ __ ] die. What are you doing? No, he's a He works at the school. Why am I going in the car? No, this is yours. What did I do? You're good. What did I do? Till you can relax. We're going to use this. I'm relaxed. What did I do? Watch your head. No. No. Sit up. Sit up. Hello. No. Slide back out. No. Stay like that. Do we have another I came to pick on my children. I came to pick on my children. I came to pick on my children. Lay down like that. He can lay down like that. No. He's got his feet. Oh, he's got his feet jammed in there. Yo, y'all going Yo, what did I do? I didn't do nothing here. Hang on. His head won't go in. Hang on. Yo, what? Tristan was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, disturbing a school function, and child neglect. On October 30th, 2022, 911 dispatch received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a reckless driver. Following reports, an officer eventually caught up with the driver and initiated a traffic stop, only to learn she was a mother with her two children in the back seat. You've had not one sip of alcohol. No, I actually got off to work. I'm just tired. So, I'm I'm very surprised if you got calls about me because I just 110% without doubt because they they gave us directions all the way to you stopping right here. So, you was passing on double yellows, running off the road. Oh, I have not passed anything. I can say that 100%. All right. Maybe you didn't pass, but they said you were swerving over swerving over the lines. No, running off the road. It wasn't no swerving or running off the world. none of that. Um, I actually let Visual Castle. That's why I pulled over because it's actually a SUV that was running up on me and so I pulled over. Okay. Unfortunately for her, multiple witnesses said she was driving erratically. Although at that moment it was just the witness's word against hers. The officer was more than a little suspicious that she was intoxicated. So, how come your speech is so slow, lethargic? It's slurred. I can hear you slurring. I am. I'm honestly tired. You can't I mean, just shoot me straight if you you're drinking today. I'm No, I'm telling you 100% like I just got off work. So, you know where you are right now? Oh, yeah. I know. I am always I came from the job always say they have all their construction legal and take this road all the way back around. You know the name of this road though. To nobody's surprise the woman didn't know the name of the road she was traveling on. At that moment the officer noticed the two children in the back seat. And although one was secured in a car seat, the other wasn't. And that's when the woman turned on the waterworks. I got the red bull. [Music] I got you. Can you hand me your driver's license? Yeah. Just got pulled by like two days ago. Yeah. Coming from work. Um, I know my job. I have a nursing. Okay. I cannot do this. All right. Like I'm like a few miles down. I need to go. Where is that? Ever. Just sit tight just for a second. I'll be back up here with you. Okay. You're okay. Just sit tight. Okay. While the officer retreated to his vehicle to run her license, another officer arrived on the scene. After inputting her name into the system, the officer noticed that she already had a warrant for DUI. When they confronted her again, she denied being drunk and asked to perform field sobriety tests to prove it. Step back. I'm sorry. You're fine. Step up here to my my push bumper. I'm sorry. I'm back. I don't know what you're saying, but can you just step back just for me? You're fine. All right. right back there towards my car. It's just a little easier on the concrete than in the grass. On her feet and in the light of day, there was no way the woman could even attempt to pretend she hadn't been drinking. She could barely even walk. And the fact that she was driving around with her two children in the back was downright reckless. All right, so I can tell again talking to you now, you're slur. So, let me ask you again. Have you had any alcohol? Oh, no. I'm sorry. No, you're okay. And visually see it's visually visibly bigger than that last one. I'm just whatever y'all determine cool. Yeah, we trying to I don't mind. I'm just trying to get some duct tape out so we can start. She literally couldn't even stand in one spot. So, walking a straight line is far from possible. Before they even started the tests, the woman was already making up excuses for her imminent failure. All the officers had to do was lay down the tape and she could get started. What's the matter? What's up? What's up? What's up? So, I want to confirm you're willing to do field sobriety for me? Yes. Okay. Yes. Yes. Yes. [Music] Yep. Yep. That's not going to work. [Music] Go ahead and stand up. We're going to help you stand up. Ready? One, two, three. It was quite possibly one of the most pathetic attempts to prove sobriety in the history of field sobriety tests. There was absolutely no sense in continuing the other exercises. Not only was it completely apparent that she was intoxicated, but if they continued, she would just wind up hurting herself. Do me a favor. Place your hands behind your back. Yeah. All right. At this time, you're being placed under arrest under suspicion of DUI. Okay. I think you've been drinking. Stand up straight. Yeah. Stand up. Yeah. Stand up. What are you doing? You've been standing fine this whole time. Stand straight up. Let go. Unfortunately for the officers, getting the woman in cuffs was the easy part. Walking her to the squad car and getting her to take a seat was the real challenge. Watching her struggle to walk, and knowing that her kids were with her was just another reminder of how despicable her actions were. Stand up. Stand up. Come on. Come on. All right. Have a seat right in here. Look up. Have a seat right here. Okay. Turn around. Butt first. Okay. Butt first. Stand up. Put your foot in there. Put your leg in there. Yeah. Hey, go stand. Get in the car. There you go. Yeah. Lift your leg. Lift. Making this more difficult. Lift it. Come around. Turn now. First, the crystal. She's going down. [Music] I'm helping you. [Music] That's okay. She was beginning to sound like a fire alarm. You would think that the least she could do was try to cooperate for her children's sake, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. She is 10:15 back to lake. Have a 1032 operator in route to jail, please. Oh no. What the Oh no. You're under arrest. Are safe now. Were you scared? You like stuffed animals? All right. Which one? All right. You ready to walk? You okay? Oh, all right. All right. I'mma sit you up. Okay. Can you do that? I'm like 250. We got We got a chair for you right here. We got a chair you can sit in. I don't chair. All right. The woman was charged with one count of DUI and two counts of child neglect. She refused to provide breath, urine, or blood tests and was released on a $3,000 bond. On February 11th, 2022, police officers responded to the scene of a car crash after a woman was reportedly driving while under the influence of alcohol before getting into an accident. To make matters worse, her children were with her in the vehicle. Inside stuff, that's her. She's a little bit adamant and animated right now. She's doesn't want EM EMS to look at the children or anything. They're the three that were in the car. Yes. Nobody else is in the vehicle. Okay. Any injuries that you guys saw? Any injuries you guys saw? Please. Please stop. Please. Please don't get my She's She's admit no. I didn't want anybody messing with her. She said she was fine. Apparently, the kids were in a car seat. I don't know if she was wearing her seat belt. She's going to be an EMS refusal. Okay. It was hard to believe the woman had flipped her car with her children inside. Yet, she was refusing medical attention. As officers and EMS workers attempted to comfort her and her children, she acted hostile toward them, as if they were trying to do her harm. Someone should have told her that she was the only one putting her children in harm's way. All right. So, we do have EMS here. Would you like Would you like the children to be checked out? No. Would you like to be checked out? No. You sure? I'm positive. We're fine. Look at us. We just want to make sure. We're good. I literally live blocks from here. Sure. Sure. What do I do? I I need to talk to you. So, can I have your uh your kiddos hang out with my partner right here while I talk with you? My kids are going everywhere with me. Well, literally, we're going to we're going to stay. Somebody's going to take my kids from me. Somebody is going to Somebody is going to come take my kids from me. Your sister's coming to get We're not going to take your kids. Your sister's going to take The woman said she was scared for her children's safety because she didn't trust the police. The crazy part was that even though she refused medical attention, she didn't try to deny that she had been drinking. In fact, it was quite the opposite. You can say right here what you need to say. You've been drinking. I have. Okay. So, I need to run you through a couple tests. Yes, that's fine. Charge just charge me with the a DUI. Okay. So, we can sit here and I can have you do this while you sit. Can we do that? I'm not Yes. I'm not I'm not doing the whole the whole I haven't been drinking anymore. Absolutely. Are you right? I'm right-handed. And I have it. You can put your hand like this. I'm going to just keep it like that for you. Okay. And just watch me. I'm going to show you a couple things. Okay. Okay. The officers had the woman perform some basic field sobriety tests while seated at the side of the road. However, she became distracted, saying she feared the state would take her children away. Eventually, she agreed to stand up and participate in the testing. Ready? Yeah. Okay. Just follow your eyes. Open your head. Take your right foot over your left foot just like this over the toe. Put your hands out your side. I just want you to stay like that. 4.3. I had to show you how to do it. I don't I don't need I've done this. Like help me. I'm trying. You're not. Yeah. We just got to have you do this test. You're not trying. You're not chopped down. Well, we got to have you do this test. This is a part of it. So, what's next? What's next? What's next? What's next? Okay. So, again, we have to show you how to do it. Okay. No, you don't have to show me how to It wasn't long before the woman became uncooperative and stopped following the officer's orders. She was frustrated that she had to take part in the field sobriety tests, considering she already admitted that she had been drinking. However, as the officers explained, it was part of their policy. Wait, hold on. You need to go back. No, we haven't started yet. You already recorded me doing it. Keep going. Like, well, I have to give you the directions first. You already did. Did he not? I have. There's no reason to do that. He was already recording. Can I get my Come here real quick. We're not wanting to do that. I already told you I was drunk. Go do this for me. I already said I was drunk. All right. We're not wanting to do the test for me. We'll blow into this for me. Okay. Did I not do the test for him? Tell me. I Okay. What's the next test? Okay. What's the next test? Well, I didn't even start that one. The foot one. I have to demonstrate. Let's go. Let's go. She could refuse to participate. all she wanted. But in reality, she was only making the situation worse for herself. She was the one who chose to drink alcohol and drive with her children in the back seat. So, she had no right to lecture the officers and waste their time. I'm already drunk. Charge me with the DIY. That's fine. I'm not breathing into that. I'm not. Is there a reason why? No, I've already admitted to being drunk. Okay. So, I'm not breathing into none of that. Is there a reason why you don't want Where's my phone? 15 36. I'm just standing here waiting till y'all figure. Can you breathe into that for No, I'm not. I'm not. I've already admitted to being drunk. I don't feel like I need to breathe into that. I don't have my kids back. Can I run my kids back? Thank you. Can I have my [Music] Can I please pick you up? I am. The woman continued to be uncooperative with the police and eventually their patience ran out. Although they informed her that she was being detained. She refused to stay put, pushing past officers in an attempt to go to the nearby store for cigarettes. We're going to go get some cigarettes. Jackie, we're going to stay. Can I get some cigarettes on my goddamn car? A black and you can't do that for me. You can't. I cannot. You cannot. Give me this. You have no cuz you know this read. I have to read it to you. Oh, okay. Well, read it. You should know your You should know to read my ride without a You're going to the back of the car. Stand up. Please don't do this. I'm sorry. I'm so bad. I just want to I'm being a pain in the but we're going to I'm not playing this. I was trying to be nice and like you said with your kids how your sister got here. I'm so mad. Like what do you expect me to do? Like I don't have no treat me with respect like I have with you. I am. You're not treating me with respect. I just want to smoke a cigarette. I can't have you smoke a cigarette. Why? Hi, buddy. Don't do that. Okay, I'll sit in here or what? My kids are literally standing out here. and he'll stay here with this officer. The officer escorted the woman to his police cruiser while another officer looked after her children. It was a sad day, but her children were safer with the police than they were with their mother. Fine. Is it going to be okay? I'm sure. I like I said, I just got here. If they're going with family, I don't know. You were here the whole time. No, baby. And you just got here. That that kid. So, you don't know. That officer's with your kids. I've been speaking with you and him. No, this is a different whole entire process. That's a different officer. And I looked at him like, "My name is Perez. I have no idea who you've been talking to." Oh, so you're just acting like he wasn't here this whole time. That officer is in the building with your Yes, he's in the building with your daughters in the business, right? Got a twin? I guess they don't look the same at all. Not even a lot lighter than him. Who is it? He's a rookie, though. One of the rookies. Can I just make sure my kids are cool? Your kids are fine. Trust me. I'm in handcuffs. Where the do you think I'm going to go? Have a seat, boys. You're a nice fine. And I feel sorry that you work for all these weird people. What's your head? After the woman was transported to the police station for further processing, she was informed that her sister was on her way to pick up her children. Although there were other places she would rather be, she seemed to finally understand that the police were just doing their job. What What's the part that you enjoy? I enjoy actually helping people and I also How do you feel like you help people? Well, I'm very I'm passionate about DUI cuz I've had friends killed by drunk drivers. So, I feel that's very close to me because it's like someone holding it's different when you're in a car, but it's like someone holding a gun and pulling a trigger when you're driving a vehicle, right? So, I like to get drunk off the street because they Right. I get it. You're not the first one. Won't be the L. I got to do it behind you. Oh, they're If you want to put your palms together, it's a lot comfortable. I'm just going to leave them loose. Okay. Don't lean up against the wall because I'm not locking them. Don't tighten up on me. The woman was charged with DUI, traffic violations, and motor vehicle overturn. It was bad, but it could have been worse. On August 29th, 2022, officers were dispatched to a gas station in Florida after a good Samaritan stopped a woman from leaving the store with a case of beer. The woman appeared to be extremely drunk and her child was in the car. Um, so I'm here at the racetrack with uh Clutier and Tukian and Marine. They got a call about this lady that was that was falling over all over the place inside of the racetrack. Uh, they get here, they do some investigating. Turns out this lady drove here, openly admitted that she was intoxicated. Drove here with the kid to get more alcohol. And I mean, she's basically intoxicated right now. So, she has no one to drop the kid off. She's admitting that she that she drove intoxicated with this kid. I'm thinking 10:15 for child neglect. Now, let me ask you, um, how do I get a hold of CPI? Cuz I've never had to do a CPI call out. Judging from his tone, it was clear that the officer was disgusted by the woman's actions, which was completely understandable considering what she was accused of. After getting more advice from dispatch, he joined another officer and spoke to the onduty manager of the store. So, the guest was saying that she was very intoxicated. I mean, usually I see her all the time. She sleeps just fine. I didn't take care of personally when the whole happened because our credit card went down. So, I was like trying to take care of that. actually dealing with their associ. Was there any like she was like falling over or not standing up straight or anything was off today? The only thing that seemed a little off was when she was and she was like trying to like a little bit. She didn't fall over for me cuz I always see her all the time. I usually take care of her. Okay. The officers discussed among themselves how to handle the situation. They could see that the woman pulled into the store directly under the eye of a surveillance camera. So, as long as they could prove that she was intoxicated, they could charge her for drinking and driving. Are you like family members? She is. All right. Just give me a minute. I just need to speak to her. Um yeah, she's okay. Um have you spoken to her at all today? Today she was staying by the office. Okay. Okay. All right. She fine. Yeah, she seemed fine. We're transferring her to a different unit, but she just wanted to know her. All right. So, I'll explain more in a little bit. What person'll give us a little bit of time? We can't have you speak to her. I can speak to her. And who's her father? That's her father. It was time for the officers to speak to the suspect. The allegations were damning, and if they were true, she would have a lot of explaining to do. As you can imagine, offenses like this are taken extremely serious, and child protective services often need to get involved. Can I can I go speak to her? Listen to me. I'm Deputy Garcia. Why are you Because you're not listening to me. I just explained why you're not listening to me. I'm Deputy Garcia. Okay. You're Miss Answer my question. Are you Miss Yes. Okay. All right. So, I'm gonna explain to you what's going on. At this point, we're conducting a lawful investigation into child. Okay. So, before you before you start, I'm gonna advise you to your Miranda rightites. Okay. At this point, you're tank. Talk about a cop who doesn't mess around. Judging from the look on her face, the woman had no idea she was going to be dealing with a nononsense cop. Before continuing his investigation, the suspect was informed that she was detained and then read her Miranda rights. He explained to you that you're detained. Yes. Why am I being detained? So, I just explained it. I'm I'm conducting a criminal investigation into child complaint. The child? No, it's not. It's not like that. Okay. So, what's been going on today now because I'm going to be honest with you. In the two minutes, just wait one second. In the two minutes I'm speaking to you, it already seems like something's wrong. It seems like you're impaired to some degree. So, what's going on? Give me a drug test. Okay. Because I'm not into that. I'm not into I don't do drugs. Are you serious? So, you explained to both my deputies that you've been drinking wine at your house. I have been drinking Yeah. I have been drinking wine because I'm moving. Okay. So, you've been drinking wine. Moving to a different complex. Okay. All right. So, you've been drinking wine. How much wine have you been drinking today? Um I don't know. You don't know? Uh, a bottle. A bottle. The suspect said she didn't drink the entire bottle. It was more like three quarters. Why she thought it was okay to drive around with her child in the car after drinking 3/4 of a bottle of wine was anyone's guess. But regardless, it was still illegal. So, you finished 3/4 of a bottle of wine by yourself and you thought it was okay to load your kid into a car and drive him across State Road 54 at 5:30 at in the middle of the day when there's when there is traffic like there's no one's business. You thought that was okay. Well, why are you talking to me like that? Answer my question. You thought that was okay. I was just trying to go back to my apartment to pack up my stuff. That's not my question. Did you think it was okay after drinking three quarters of that one at a time? No, I did not. So, you didn't think it was okay, but you still did it. The officer had her and you could tell she knew she screwed up. She admitted to knowing that it was wrong to drink and drive, but she still did it anyway. Called out for her behavior. Instead of taking responsibility for her actions, she decided to take another approach. What do you want me to say? I'm asking you. I'm trying to understand why you thought that this was okay. Cuz I know you're being recorded. Yeah, I know. I I know I'm being recorded. Okay. So, No. No. So, you didn't think it was okay, but you still did it. No. No, I did not do it. You didn't do it. So, you ended up here magically. You flew here. Your kid ended up here magically. Yeah. Okay. All right. Do me a favor. Put your hands behind your back. I'm not playing this game with you. Hold that. The suspect was cuffed and then walked to the officer's squad car where she was searched. She could protest all she wanted, but it wasn't going to keep her out of jail. The officer's nononsense approach was necessary to teach her a valuable lesson. Hello, sir. Hi, I'm Deputy Garcia. I didn't catch your name. It's nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, sir. Okay. So, I I don't How much of my partner explain to you what's going on? Do you understand what's going on at this point? I kind of figured out cuz I already got a while ago two DWI and he hasn't really told me anything what happened. I have to explain to you what's going on. So, she's going to be arrested for child neglected because she drove the kid here while she was drunk. Okay. As well as disorderly intoxication. Okay. So, with that being said, yeah, with that being said, would you be would you be willing to watch over the kids for the time being? Okay. So what my partner's doing right now, it's essentially background check just to make sure that we would be allowed to release them, which you you told me, you told me a couple of DVWI. If that's it, I don't foresee it being any other issue. 2010 and 2015. Yeah. I don't I don't foresee that being slow for the whole time. I have 27 now. Okay. Did uh they come back and say that he's good. Waiting on the phone call. Okay. All right. The woman was taken to the local jail and sentenced to two months of probation in addition to being ordered to pay a $4,200 fine. On November 13th, 2022, an officer observed a driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic. As a result, he conducted a traffic stop. However, what started as a standard traffic stop turned into something more when the father of one became uncooperative. How's it going? Sergeant Wer of the sheriff's office. You know why I stopped you? No. All right. You literally pulled right out in front of everybody and almost caused a crash. Okay. Can I see your registration insurance, please? What? Okay. Can you look in the glove box? The driver said he couldn't find the registration, but offered to call his girlfriend, whom his daughter politely explained he was borrowing the car from. When he got a hold of her, she told him that the registration was in the glove box, the same place he had rummaged around in earlier. Is that mom? Um, is that the kid's mom? Yes. Can you have her come here? Cuz your license, I know you don't know this, but your license is suspended. So, I'm going to need mom to come pick up called me back and I I can't let you drive. No, you're suspended. So, is she going to need to come here? Yeah, I know. I um I'm literally right down the road. I have gotten past I just did a U-turn. So, is that long way? Long way right in front of you. Yep. So, all you have to do is walk down the road. What? I don't know. Might be an insurance issue because I lost my car. All right. We'll see you coming right in front of the road. Love you. When the officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, he protested at first, but eventually the driver cooperated. However, when he stepped out, he held up his hands like he was surrendering, prompting the officer to inform him he wasn't in trouble. Or at least not yet. Everything's fine. Okay. Mom's going to be here in just one minute. I'm just going to talk to daddy. Okay. Are you going to hurt him? No, I'm not going to hurt him. Absolutely not. All right. So, the reason I stopped you, turn around, face me, man. You're fine. Relax. Relax. The reason I stopped you when you came off of Chamberlain back there, you almost caused a crash. I didn't mean to. I I understand you didn't mean to. All right. So, while I'm talking to you, I can smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage. All right. Yeah. Coming from the car. I'm only going down the road. And I did have an alcoholic beverage, but I am definitely good to drive. Okay. When it comes to a breathalyzer, I'm good to drive. Okay. It's just Do you have anything on you? Nothing. Okay. All right. I just saw you holding your waistband. No. No. All right. Yes. So, what I'm going to ask you to do, would you mind performing any field sobriety exercises to make sure you're okay to drive? No. Uh, she's going to go pick me up and it shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately for our suspect, that's not the way these things work. You don't get to avoid a drinking and driving charge just because a friend is coming to pick you up. But if you thought that was a strange assumption, what he said next was beyond stupid. I'm not going to do a field of surprise exercise. I will sit on the side. I got seats for the other kids and that she will do a field sobriety exercise instead of me. No, I want you to, not her. Why? Because you're the one driving right now. I Well, now I'm not. Okay. So, you're you're refusing field sobriety? No. Let's go. Okay. All right. Just hold on one second. Okay. Do you really need to bring any more people here? What's that? They're down there working a detail. That's a female detail. I didn't know anything about that. Literally, I just left my house, pulled a U-turn, just go to get those cops are there. That's FHP. They're down there for a FEMA detail. All right. They're not here for you. Okay. Well, like I said, I just Are you waiting for another person? I am. I'm kind of waiting. Just the only reason that I went to go do what I'm doing, but um I need to go get my kids toys because I'm going through a divorce. So, it is what it is. Okay. All right. Let me talk to him real quick. Just stay right where you're at. All right. It turned out the suspect had a warrant out of Sarasota. The suspect's partner showed up to speak with the officer. After informing her of the situation, he asked her to take a seat in the car with the child while the suspect performed field sobriety tests. So, right, front, left. How far do I got to go? No. Inside his go. Yeah. just hang out and listen action real quick. You know, I can't do this. So, give me a second. I got you. All right. When I tell you to, you're going to take nine Oh, you there. So, nine steps forward, nine steps back military turn. Yeah. Make sure you keep that foot planted. All right. Hold on. Didn't tell you to go. Hang on. All right. Go ahead and begin. [Music] As a rookie officer was assessing the suspect, he took detailed notes on his performance. In a field sobriety test, there is no pass or fail. The officers are trained to look for indicators of intoxication and the suspect repeatedly asking for instructions on how to walk a straight line is a key indicator. 2018 2019 2020 2020 sorry we're good. Go ahead and stop. Right. [Music] Left, right. After they finished conducting the field sobriety test, the officers asked the driver to join them at their cruiser. And although everything seemed fine at first, when the officers informed the man that he was under arrest for DUI, things took a turn for the worse. He won't stop you. All right, boss. So, go ahead. Turn around back door real quick. Yeah, I am. Relax. No, don't do it. I'm not fighting you. No, dude. Give me a Give me your Why? Because you're going to jail for DUI. Here we are. I will get in the back. Get on the ground now. Get on the ground. You going to do [Music] Okay. Get on the ground. I'm down. I'm down. Up. Get on the ground. I'm out. Put your hands behind your back now. Hands behind your back. Okay. Please stop. Roll over on your back. On your stomach. Stomach. Now the dog. I'm going. Get back now. I don't know. Get back. Get back in the car. Get back in the car. That must have hurt. The suspect was tased multiple times. Why did he even think that he could get away with resisting the officer? Unfortunately for him, he paid a big price for his refusal to cooperate. I need a breathalyzer. Take a breathalyzer. I'm not certain driving. Please, guys. I got chance, man. Please. Yeah. And you should have cooperated. No, I am cooperating. Now you are. You're not. You're pulling away from us doing everything. We're not going because I didn't think there was a problem. Can you get the florines out of me? Yep. Hold on. Please. I didn't mean to fight, but you shot me with a goddamn taser. What happens? We don't follow directions. Okay. My bad. My bad. But god damn it. You do know this is all on video. It is all on video. Okay. Well, then you know this is going to work. That is perfectly fine. Oh, please. It's fine. I wasn't do anything wrong. I was just driving down the road. I didn't do anything that was going to hurt anybody. The officers didn't wrestle the man to the ground and tased him because he was quote unquote just driving down the road. They tased him because he resisted arrest and disobeyed direct orders from law enforcement. If the body cam footage were shown in court, all it would do is exonerate the officers. On me, I did everything you asked me to do. No, not a single thing. As a matter of fact, you could have literally just asked me to say, "Hey, let's help." Oh, dude. Like I said, this was all recording. I straight up did everything that you asked me to do with my hands behind my back at at ease. Ow. Oh, god damn it. All right. All right. Roll over me. Universe. Put this leg on you. That is my broke. That's my dumb leg. All right, dude. You got to have Jimmy, man. There's no way that you arrest me. Oh, there is a way. Why? Why? Oh, you got it before I go. You got a warrant. There's no point. I told I'm doing what I'm told. Yeah, now you are. Not when we're fighting on the ground with you. Yeah. Well, I'm getting tased, man. You can't do what you want to be what you're being told when you're getting tased. The suspect was charged with resisting arrest with violence, driving under the influence, and child neglect. Maybe next time he'll think twice before he refuses to follow direct orders from law enforcement. On April 1st, 2023, a police officer responded to a fast food restaurant after a citizen reported that a woman who was possibly impaired was driving around with an infant in her vehicle. When the officer arrived, he found the woman in the parking lot tending to her child. No, I'm sorry. Did I make you drop that? Oh, no. No. My daughter just Now, my dad works right there across right across Yeah, I guess someone called and they were concerned about you. Oh, I don't know exactly why. No. Oh, I was on the phone and when I was in the drive-thru with her dad. Okay. But um No, everything's good. Do you have a baby? I'm just off my dad's He's just walking over here. I'm just waiting on my dad. Okay. Do you have your ID on you real quick? I don't have my ID on me. No. What's Okay. Do you have a driver's license? No. My dad got He's walking over here right now. But you were driving though. My dad Okay. Can What did you take? What did I take something? No. You're acting really weird. No, I was just feeding my baby food and she's throwing it out the car. The officer wasn't buying the suspect's story. He was right. The suspect, Jennifer, definitely appeared to be under the influence of something. The officer spoke to the restaurant manager, who agreed to provide him with surveillance footage of Jennifer operating the vehicle. After that, he interviewed the suspect again. What's your daughter's name? Officer Mike is gonna keep an eye on her. Okay. Sure. I got to talk to you real quick. So, hi. Came through the drive-thru here. Some of the some of the employees here are a little concerned about your your ability to drive a car right now because it appears that you are under the influence of something. I believe you might be. Okay. and and somebody that's not even trained as a DUI officer believes that you might be under the influence of something. So, did you take anything today? No, I didn't take anything besides my um prescribed medication which is as I'm prescribed subutex and that's subutex subutex as well as um and that's the only medication besides my cat room for seizures. Okay. Jennifer denied taking any narcotics, including or drinking alcohol, confidently stating that she was happy to take a breathalyzer. However, the officer explained that a DUI can be more than just alcoholrelated, and includes any drugs, prescription, or illegal. To prove she was sober, she agreed to participate in field sobriety tests. You see this red light? Yep. You're going to follow it with your eyes only and keep your head still. Do you understand? With my eyes only, head still. Okay. All right. Go ahead. 4 6 9 100 Look at your foot. 10023 100 Keep looking at your foot. Oh yeah. Left back down. Right. Bring it back down. Right. Bring it back down. Although the woman didn't do nearly as bad as many other suspects, the officer still believed that she was under the influence of something. As a result, she was arrested and placed in cuffs. The real tests would be done at the police station. All right. At this time, you are being placed under arrest. You're driving to the influence of alcohol, chemical control, substance. I stop. Come on, man. I was I I mean, can we call my daddy? Yes, we're going to take care of it cuz we don't we want to turn the kid over to somebody responsible. Oh my god, please. I didn't I didn't You drove under the influence in the car. Let's do this first and then we'll we'll figure everything out. Okay. All right. So, go ahead and put your uh put these these shoes back on for me. Medical conditions. Yeah, she's a feeding tube. Okay, that's that is on her stomach. Yes. Okay. The officers placed Jennifer in a squad car while they waited for a female officer to arrive on the scene to search her. Jennifer thought it was unfair that she was being arrested because she felt she did well on the sobriety tests. However, the officer explained that they aren't pass or fail based. Well, I mean, I So, you're saying I killed all those tests? It's not pass or fail. I look for indicators of impairment. I All I did was just count. I didn't kill one Mississippi. Well, that was that was just one exercise. You forgot about all the other ones. So, go ahead and take a seat. Go ahead and take a seat. I'm put the window down. You're going to be able to see your baby the whole time. Okay? So, take a seat and then he's got your phone and we're going to we're going to figure out your old man's phone number. So, scoot your legs in. I got to close the door. Move your foot. I'm going to put the window down. Move your foot. The officer spoke with Jennifer's father over the phone and informed him of the situation. Thankfully, to avoid CPS getting involved, her father agreed to come and take her child. The officers also let Jennifer speak to her father from the cruiser. Hey, Dad. I went I just was waiting for you and I went through the drive-thru and I guess somebody in the drive-thru called and said something, but they're in your car right now. I got with the baby. So, I don't know. I I mean, I did all the sobriety tests. I cooperated. I didn't just All right. Just um I I need um I guess I'll have a bond. So, can you please bond me out? I don't know what I can do. Well, Jeez, Dad. I don't know where the money's going to come from. Well, I have my my money. I have my money in my car. Goodbye. Call me. Okay. All right. All right. We'll be in about 10 minutes. All right. All right, James. I I appreciate it. Just so you're aware, too, like there's no crash or anything. The the baby's okay. She's okay. What am I being charged with? Driving on the infl. Additionally, the officer informed Jennifer that she shouldn't have been driving with a suspended license either, with Jennifer secured in the back of the cruiser. The officers searched her belongings, and it didn't take long to find what they were looking for. So, these items were located in this purse, these uh three crack rocks, field test positive. The way I know that it belongs to the individual is that's her name right there. That's her name right there. That's not her name, but two of the things are. Two out of the three are. And then she got somebody else's uh membership card here. She got a little bit of cash in there. Whatever this is. Oh, hello. Hello. Yeah, I'm not touching that one. Little white pill possibly. We'll test that later. Yeah, right here. Yeah. Here's the uh the actual Yeah. What do you What do you think that is? It's a cat. That looks like Yeah. Jennifer was charged with DUI, child neglect, and possession of a controlled substance. The number one job of a parent is to protect their children. Drinking and driving is bad enough, but when you add children to the mix, it takes things to a whole another level. Thankfully, our roads and highways are patrolled by law enforcement officers who could save babies from drunk parents.
