But I've been there. Done. >> Stop. >> Jail. No. >> Stop. Get in the car. >> Get in the car. >> My mom. [screaming] >> Get in the car. >> Yeah. So, all that perfume and cologne, everything that belongs to Kohl's, that wasn't paid for. So, obviously that >> they don't have that on video. >> Both of you had merchandise. It all equals above 750 bucks. then both of you are going to be arrested for a felony, which is pretty bad, right? >> Not all motherdaughter bonding days are as wholesome as a trip to the spa or a nice meal. From the cooperative to the downright [music] feisty, here's what happens when entitled motherdaughter duos get caught shoplifting. >> I did not go nowhere. I did not even go nowhere. What is wrong with you? Get your hands off of me. Okay, get your hands off of me. >> Okay, >> you're hurting me. >> On May 24th, 2023, a mother and daughter were caught on Walmart CCTV scanning Kool-Aid packets at the selfch checkckout while placing their other items straight in their cart. Excuse me. >> Yes. >> Like what? >> You're bringing stuff out packets and then you rang up a tank top for the shirt. >> I'm going to hang on to your first. >> NO, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TOUCH MY purse and you can keep that. >> You're not cooperative. >> You're under arrest. >> You are under arrest. >> WALK OUT THE DOOR. >> I DIDN'T WALK OUT THAT DOOR. >> DO NOT MOVE. You are under arrest. You are on your wrist. Do not move. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Just follow. >> Go there. >> Go with it. I need you to come here. Place your hands behind your back. >> I'm not going to jail. >> I didn't say you're going to jail. I said you're under arrest. >> No, that's >> Sir, you cannot touch this. >> I can't. >> You are under arrest. >> I DID NOT GO NOWHERE. >> I did not even go nowhere. What is wrong with you? Get your hands off of me. >> Okay. Get your hands off of me. >> You're hurting me. >> She's off of her. >> You're hurting me. >> You need to back up because she's pregnant. >> She didn't leave. >> I didn't even go nowhere. >> She didn't leave the door. So therefore, you can't drive on her. >> Okay. Okay. Can you let me go? Let go. >> No, I cannot. I can. You're under arrest. >> She's not under arrest. She didn't leave out. >> I didn't even go nowhere. What? The suspects maintained that they hadn't done anything wrong and the daughter drew more attention to the fact that she was pregnant. As if that somehow put her above the law. Backup arrived and attempted to explain the situation, but it wasn't good enough for the hotheaded duo. >> Let her go. >> I'm not even doing them, so you have to let her go. >> She is pregnant. Okay, real simple. You guys are under arrest. You're not charged with theft. >> Put your hands in front of you in handcuffs. >> Okay. can do. >> It's not up for debate. >> It's not up for debate. >> Get the >> Stop resisting. Get off of me. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm offering your hands up. Do not me. >> Stop me. >> I'm trying to not hurt you. You are under arrest. You are not in charge of this. >> Move. Get the off. >> As the officers continued arresting her, a crowd gathered around them. Witnesses were quick to get their phones out and video the incident, and it didn't take long before the accusation started flying. You didn't have to do that. >> And you ain't have TO HEAD ON. >> YOU WAS TWICE HER AGE, MAN. You ain't have to do that. >> Everything and I recorded it. >> Okay. Pull this leg in. >> Can I just want to make sure my daughter's all right. >> Well, your daughter's out there. She's >> Okay. I would have just >> I mean, you shouldn't have did all that. She was pregnant. >> Okay, she's still resisting. >> No, she's not resisting. She was just saying, >> "Put your leg up." >> With the suspect secured, one of the officers proceeded to check their receipts and confirm what the Walmart staff had reported to them. He then went back out to his partners and the mother. >> Do you understand your rights? Do you understand your rights? >> Yes, you are under arrest for theft. Okay. It doesn't m If you haven't left the store once you pass the last point of sale. >> I didn't pass nothing. >> Okay. Well, they have nothing once you conceal an item is theft whether you are in store or not. >> Okay. >> All right. We're not having court out here. Just go. >> Okay. >> Have a seat. >> The officers checked the mother's details and found she already had warrants out for her arrest. Meanwhile, a woman who was on the phone with their church pastor approached them. Okay. Ask what's going on. That's all. They didn't want to change the feeling. Arrest. >> They were stealing. >> Okay. I don't approached by it. Started the team. didn't want to be placed under >> placed under arrest. They were stealing. They didn't want to be uh detained for theft. He was just arrested. >> It was time to interview the Walmart employees again. One of the officers went back in the store to talk to them and get a full inventory of the items the suspects had paid for versus the other items they tried to walk out with. They're coming here. She's pregnant. >> They're going to go behind the building. So, that's going >> I just don't want to fight. I don't need the crowd coming out there and cause harassing us out there, too. >> Yeah. >> I don't know if they're I'm assuming they're going to go to jail, but >> whatever. The suspects were taken around the back of the store. Fortunately, the mother was acting much more rationally when it came to moving her to the same car as her daughter, and how the officers treated her was a far cry from the accusations of police brutality thrown around in the store. You smell? Yeah. >> All right. It's going to be a little easier if you can lean back a little bit. Get that other leg out. >> Okay. >> There you go. All right. Now we can scoot forward. >> Now you can press against the frame. There you go. Scoot yourself. >> I can't. I honestly can't. Hold on. >> Oh, shoot. [music] >> All right. Let me do this. >> Try to take me out like that. >> You ready? Watch. Watch your head. Watch your head. Watch your head. There you go. Scoot. Scoot. Scoot. Scoot. Scoot. There you go. There you go. >> Can I tell you something? >> What's up? >> I would have even though I was as bad as I was, I would have never took care of that warrant. >> I believe it >> because I never I actually forgot about >> as the mother was seated beside her daughter. The officer explained that if they didn't get Bond posted that night, they'd see a judge in the morning. >> Hey, real quick, while I got both of you here, I want to say this now so I don't forget later. Okay? Now [music] understand that what I'm about to say I tell every person that I take to the county jail. It is not a personal thing. It is not an accusation. It is a statement. Okay? If you have anything on you, any drugs, [music] any paraphernalia or any weapons right now, >> the ladder doesn't count paraphernalia. >> Right. Including marijuana. You got >> I'm again I'm not making a judgment. I'm making a statement. Right. that >> I think I got >> once we get to the county jail, it doesn't matter what it is, right? Your lighter is not relevant. >> Okay. Do you want to put my keys in my >> uh I'll check here in just a second. >> Okay. >> But if you have [music] any, you know, pipes, any papers, anything like that, any drugs, [music] once we get in kind of deal, don't matter what it is, it becomes a felonyree for conveyance. So, right now, we can deal with it, you know, on possibly like a lower misdemeanor level, depending on what it is. All right? But again, it's not a judgment. And it's a statement that I make to every person I take to the county jail. [music] So when we get in there like, "Oh, you know, I had dope stuffed up in me. I didn't know." He did know because I I gave you the opportunity. I have made the statement. Officers found the total of the stolen items was just over $500. The suspects were taken into custody where they'd have the opportunity to think of better ways to spend motheraughter time other than shoplifting [music] and a sleepover in jail. On March 18th, 2024, a woman was caught stealing at a Walmart store in Largo, Florida. Officers arrived to find that the woman had already been taken into the store's loss prevention office and were soon made aware that she had her teenage daughter with her. >> Hello. Hello. >> That's the right ID on you. >> Yeah. Okay. just because we're having a whole thing. If you just keep your your purse and your phone to yourself right now. >> After the suspect confirmed she understood her rights and that she was willing to answer questions, the officer proceeded to interview her. >> So, what are you talking about tonight? >> I think so. With me and the girls. >> For what? >> With me and the girls. >> Okay. So, just not going to pay for it. Like, listen, there's I appreciate honesty, right? Like, there's a lot that we can do for you if you haven't had a criminal record in the past. If you're honest with us, what's your criminal record? >> The girl was um for Walmart. I previously just told that they like from me being with him, I got charged with it. >> Oh, okay. Who is it? This Walmart? >> No. >> Okay. Which Walmart? um a big time in when was that? A couple months ago. Okay. >> So, we have to check. >> Yeah. >> What was up with her? >> Was that separate? At that point, the suspect was informed she was being detained and was read her rights again. She was still willing to talk to the officers, but she continued to cry and plead with them while her daughter remained surprisingly unfazed beside her. >> I'm so sorry. I swear. >> Okay. So, what went on with the with the pill bottle in the pocket? >> I was just going to get the pill bottle bottle. Okay. >> So, how did you get out here without paying for it? >> I was checking if she was out there. >> Okay. She was like, >> "Okay." >> When the officers tried to make sense of the previous trouble the suspect had been in, she confirmed she had been arrested on that occasion. Maybe that was why the daughter seemed completely unaffected while her mom kept up the fake tears. >> So, I don't know. We have to check. The first one is going to be golf. >> They're not. >> Um, so we have the thing called APAD and we're going to check and see if you're eligible for it. It's it's a adult free arrest diversion. So it's instead of getting arrested, but I don't know if you're going to be eligible for it because of the prior arrest. But they're going to check for me and they're going to tell me. I'm not trying to take you to jail. you know, you're really upfront with me, but if that's the only option, you know. >> Yeah. Like I can't I can't >> When you were in trouble for the step last time, were you taken to jail for it? [clears throat] >> What happened was we had we were at Walmart, but we did go to jail that night. Yeah. >> Both of you? >> Yes. >> They clearly didn't learn their lesson the first time. The officers then tried to figure out arrangements for her daughter if the suspect did have to go to jail. After more tears, she finally confirmed that her roommate could pick her daughter up. >> I'm gonna have you put your phone. Is this your bag, man? >> That's your bag. Okay. Why don't we put your phone in your bag and I'm just going to move this door. >> Put the phone in. >> I'm not Nothing has come back at all. I'm just going to move it cuz >> this is yours. That's >> And that's yours. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. >> It then came to light that the suspect had been in trouble even before the Walmart incident she [music] admitted to. Officers tried to get to the bottom of what had gone on in the past and despite the tears, the suspect was surprisingly cooperative. >> So what happened? The first time the girls got through Walmart over in that way and I with the girls so they charged me for kids and off the merchants also. and they looked um thrown at one of the [music] >> Yeah. >> What were you in trouble for? >> The same thing. >> [music] >> Were you an adult? >> Yeah. >> You don't You don't remember what you were talking >> You know what you were doing? >> Yeah. >> What were you doing? That's I don't know if they charged us with the accident of the car. My sister took us car and we got charged. I'm just keeping everyone. >> The suspect finally [music] admitted the previous charge with her sister was for grand theft, but was quick to go back to crying and apologizing. Officers waited a moment for her to calm down, then returned to the crime she was currently detained for. >> So, what did you steal? [music] What? [music] One of those things right now. [music] [clears throat] Next, she claimed she'd been in an abusive relationship and was just trying to get back on her feet, but didn't feel comfortable with the male roommate she was currently living with. [music] The same roommate that she said could pick up her daughter. >> Any drugs or anything? No. Oh my god. Anything illegal in your purse? >> No, I think it's what we have. Is we nearby [music] weed? [music] >> What store? >> What is it called? >> I don't know. They just don't check your card. >> They just don't check or anything? >> Well, I can buy it from [music] somebody that posted that store. I don't know. No, it's not legit. We obviously know. >> No, I mean like Okay. Obviously, not in the store, but it's outside the store. >> Oh, okay. Okay. I thought you'd know how to go up there and I used to do all day like you do that [music] once a week. >> The officers were finally advised they would have to take the suspect to jail. Of course, that was [music] upsetting for her, but no amount of crying and apologizing can change the fact that she'd broken the law again. I'm sorry. You going to pat it down at all? All right. Whatever. Face face this way. Face him. Don't put your feet up because I'm in bed. >> She was led out to the officer's car where they explained to her that if she continued to cooperate, she likely wouldn't be in jail long and may even be out again by the end of the night. On November 15th, 2025, a 19-year-old named Alexis and her mom, Nichollet, [music] were caught stealing at a gas station in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Officers were dispatched and would soon find out they had their work cut out for them. >> Hey, how's it going? >> Good. How are you? >> Is this your white vehicle over here? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, what's going on? >> So, I'm being stopped right now by police. >> Yes, you are. >> Your mother? >> Yes. >> Where is your daughter at? I'm trying to find my daughter as we speak >> and >> I am in front of um the speedway and Larry's sub. >> Um >> I do not know if I'm recording or not to verify which subject is involved. >> My name is Alexa. Nichollet Lynn Morocco 112. >> What are they accu or what is she accusing you of stealing? >> What is who? >> The store clerk. I don't know her name. >> I don't I don't >> cuz I mean they have 3D cameras which we'll review and see what happened. I went in there while my mom was filling up her tires to go buy buy sorry buy a bottle of water and um got told to get out cuz I was stealing. >> Alexis's story didn't seem to add up with what the gas station clerk had reported. So the officer reminded them honesty goes a long way. It was then that the seriousness of the situation seemed to hit Alexis because she grew visibly upset. Can I I'm not I'm not trying to walk away from you guys. >> I understand you're not. >> Can I just walk to the corner and walk back, please? Like, can I just pace? >> No, just hang out if you need to take a seat. >> Mom, I'm I'm losing. >> How old are you? >> 19. >> 19. So, you're an adult, >> unfortunately. >> Okay. >> I just want to go home. >> I just want to go back to Jersey. >> I know. >> All right. So, hey, we're going to do Do you'all both mind just walking back over there to your vehicle so we can get out of the roadway? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Just use the crosswalk, please, and be careful. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. >> All right. >> While the first officer waited with the [music] suspects, his partner went to talk to the gas station employee who' reported the theft. Unsurprisingly, the latter's version of events was completely different to Alexis's story. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Hi. Hi. >> Um, okay. Tell me what happened. >> So, they've been here for probably about an hour >> sitting in the car >> in and out. >> Okay. >> So, the daughter, I'm assuming the daughter. She comes in, I guess, she uses the bathroom, goes back outside, she's walking back and forth, whatever. The mom is over in the vehicle. >> Mhm. >> I'm back in the back. >> Mhm. >> Filling the water. Whatever. The little girl comes in. She goes to the beer cooler, looks, comes down this way, goes back to the beer cooler, grabs a beat box, comes back down this way, shoves it in the front of her pants, and then grabs two Gatorades and comes up here. >> Okay. >> And then she goes outside. And when she goes outside, I'm I went outside. I didn't go after her, but I went outside. And they're trying to air up tires. The mom can't barely stand. >> Is mom the one driving? >> Yeah. Okay. So, um, she comes back in with a beat box. He was in here. The beat box was in her sleep hanging out open >> while she was in here. >> Yes. >> So, I told her, I was like, "You can't be in here. I watched you steal that key." >> Shockingly, not only had Alexis had the audacity to steal the beatbox and then drink it in the store, she'd also spat on the employee. To gather solid evidence, the officer then asked to see the video footage from the surveillance camera. Are you want to press charges on her spitting on you or just want the trespass? >> Just trespass. [music] Okay, I'm going to go talk to them. Um, they're back on the property, so I'm going to be able to issue that trespass. So, let me go get that started. Okay, give me a second. You're welcome. >> I just need my head, please. >> How old is she? How old are you? >> 19. >> I'm 19. >> 19. >> I just want She She Her story is she walked in there grabbed Dad. >> Hey. Hey. I'm sorry. No, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm not >> intoxication. She's not >> me. >> Okay. So, >> I'm sorry, ma'am. I'm not trying. >> Here, here's the thing. I have you on camera still in that beat box. >> I did. I'm sorry. >> And then starting an issue in here with the clerk, spitting on the clerk. Okay. Do you want to go to jail? Because that kind of behavior is how you're going to go to jail. I know that. >> Okay. So, as of right now, you're lucky that she's not wanting to press charges, but she wants you she wants you trespassed. >> Okay. >> You if you come back one more time, you're going in handcuffs. Do you understand? >> Mom, please. >> Given the concerns over the mother driving while intoxicated, the female officer asked Alexis [music] how much she'd had to drink, and Alexis claimed just the beatbox. The officer told her she wouldn't be driving either, then went to deal with her mom. >> I don't even have a license. Do you have your >> Do you have Okay. Do you have an ID? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Do you have your driver's license? >> It's in the car. >> Car registered to you. >> What's your name? >> Nichollet. >> Okay. >> Stay there. Stay there. >> What did I just say? >> I'm sorry, ma'am. >> No, you're not listening. Take a seat. Do not say anything else. Okay. If I have to come back here one more time, that's it. >> I apologize. >> Do not say anything else to to her right now. Okay. I'm in the middle of an investigation. >> Okay. I apologize, ma'am. >> Despite being told to sit and be quiet, Nichollet continued talking. The officer gave her one last chance to follow orders, but Nichollet failed to do so. The officer was done playing nice. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. Put your phone down. Right now, you're being detained cuz you can't follow simple directions. Okay. >> All right. I'm being detained. >> I'm only being detained. >> Watch what you say. >> Okay. Stop. >> Why? I'm trying to >> walk this way. >> Over here. Do you have anything on you need to be aware of? >> No. >> Okay. Face the car. >> No. >> You're on probation. Take a seat. >> Meanwhile, Alexis's behavior wasn't any better. Her grandmother arrived on scene and tried helping the officer calm her down, but Alexis was having a fullblown tantrum. >> I don't even know. >> Why is she she's Is she always like this? >> Al, what is it? Alexa. >> Alexis, just be quiet. >> I need to go home to dad. >> Okay. Well, right now you can't do that. Okay. >> Just relax. >> I don't reside in Florida. >> I understand that. >> Are you just here to give him a ride? >> Yes. >> Okay. As soon as I'm done with paperwork, we'll we'll get him out of here. I just need her phone number. >> I reside with my father in Pennsylvania. >> Okay. That doesn't make any difference right now. Okay. Right. The thing is is you just you committed a crime and that's why we're here and now you're being trespassed. in jail. >> You want us to go that route? Do you want to go to jail? >> We can go that route. >> After all the theatrics about wanting to see her dad, Alexis went back to crying for Nichollet. She was instructed to get in the car with her grandmother so the officers could complete the trespass, but she had to be given several more warnings before they could close the door. Unfortunately for Alexis, she ignored all of them. >> Get out of the car. Get out of the car. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Turn around. >> I just wanted to make sure. No, I just wanted to make sure. >> Turn around. >> I just wanted to make sure my mom was okay. >> Kilo 113. >> Get out of the car. You're right. I'm sorry, ma'am. You're sorry. I'm >> We told you to stop. We told you to stop and now you're being And now you're being arrested. >> You're right. >> Okay, we're done. Sorry. You're right. I'm sorry. You are. >> You're not going to sit here and act like you're strong. >> No, you are 100. I'm not strong. I'm not a strong acting like this. Okay. >> No, I was strong and I'm being like this. >> No, I never thought I was strong. >> The male officer informed her she was getting arrested for resisting. So, she continued to play the traumatized young girl card, but it didn't take long for her true colors to show. >> No, I don't want to resist. >> Several charges now. Walk to my car. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Can you grab my uh >> Yes, ma'am. >> clipboards. I don't want to fight. >> Okay. Well, you already did. >> I'm not. Ma'am, can please >> keep walking. Otherwise, you're going to go to jail, too, >> ma'am. Mom, stop. >> Nichollet, go to your mother's car. Otherwise, you're going to get >> So, shut your >> Stop. >> Stop. >> A Did you get bullied in school? >> Did you get bullied? >> Alexis Nichollet is Nichollet. >> Get hold her. I didn't want to spit on you. I'm sorry. >> Like this and then she's >> Yeah, cuz you're >> What? Did you get bold and pushed? >> You want to see me shake that? >> See me shake that. >> You want to see me shake that? >> Stop. >> Oh, are you safe? >> Stop. Stop. Stop. I need to shake it. >> Stop. Stop. Despite already making the situation 10 times worse for herself, she still continued to ignore the officer's instructions. The female officer made one last attempt to reason with her, but Alexis just kept on with her tantrum. >> You're going to get another charge. >> Okay. >> I don't want another. >> You're already getting a felony charge at this point. >> But I've been here. >> Stop. Stop. >> No. >> Stop. Get in the car. >> No. Get in the car. My mom >> in the park. >> No. >> No. MOM. >> NO. >> We're going to need a >> Alexis was taken to jail and charged with resisting an officer without violence and trespassing and disorderly intoxication. [music] She was released on a $2,000 bond only to get herself arrested again in January 2026. Alexis was taken to jail a second time on a $55,000 bond. On July 1st, 2025, the cops received a call from Target about a woman who'd been caught shoplifting. Officers arrived on scene to find the woman in the parking lot with her mom and her baby. >> Hello, guys. >> Hi. I'm here because Target called and said you stole something. >> I'll go take it. >> Well, I don't know if they're gonna >> Wait, you obviously know you said something. If you said I'll take it back. >> Should we just >> Well, just wait here. We'll see what Target wants to do. What? I mean, >> I'll just >> Well, just wait. What did you take? I don't want to cause a scene in silage. See if they can come out here and we can figure it out. Like maybe you opened up some OC spray or pepper spray or something. They said >> you opened up pepper spray. >> Yeah, >> cuz I thought they come on. They know your name already cuz you've been here before stealing for something. >> No, I haven't. >> But they they gave provided us your name. >> I never >> in my life. >> I'm just telling you what our notes say on the call. So is this your daughter or who's this? Okay. So you opened up pepper spray. What else did you steal? >> And she had scan this. >> The officer asked if the woman had any ID on her, but she said she didn't. Then he tried to get to the bottom of the past offenses the store mentioned, which she denied. The suspect still wasn't very forthcoming, so he went to talk to the store employee. >> We're right there waiting for you. Like, what are we doing? >> I don't know if I'm like allowed to go out there cuz we're not >> What? So, she said she didn't pay for a red skirt and she took a pepper spray >> and that tote bag that's in there. >> Whatever you want to get, whatever you want to get. And then has she been here before? >> Yep. She's been here before. She's she goes to um she's been apprehended at Woodfield >> Okay. So, you guys have she been arrested from here before? So, she hasn't been arrested at our store this year. >> Not at our store. She was pregnant. >> Okay. >> When the officer and the store employee got back to the suspect, she apologized and claimed she couldn't pay for the things she'd taken. The officer then confronted her about the other times she'd been caught stealing and the warrant they'd found for her. She then revealed she was on probation. >> For what? >> Probation. >> For what? What are you on probation for? >> For retail thefts. for batteries. What are you on? What are you on probation for? >> It's from a long time ago. >> I get that. But >> what are they That'll just put you on probation for nothing. What are you on probation for? >> I missed the >> Okay. What was the charge that you're on probation for? >> For I think taking >> for retail thefts. Okay. >> In county, but I have probation. He call I can call him right now. We f I talked to the judge. I'm coming in and I'm paying the $40 to quash it and then they're going to see me and I'm going to do my drug test and do everything. >> The officer confronted the suspect again on her past offenses, including being trespassed from another Target store the previous December and stealing from the same Target he'd been called out to. But she claimed she'd never been to that Target before, despite the fact that they had her photo. The officer then checked the details of the warrant they'd found with his partner. Here's the quash for it. She's got like four or five arrests. We can't write her another P ticket. >> She's on probation for retail theft. >> Why would she not bring to do that? Why would they not update it? >> I don't know if they have or not yet. So, she said she just left there with the warrant. >> I believe it. >> She said she's like, I just left court. >> Traffic offense. This is the only warrant I see in here. >> Since [music] there was some confusion about the suspect's warrant, the officer radioed for advice. The suspect must have known the truth would eventually come out, but she remained tight-lipped [music] about crimes both past and present. >> I have some paperwork for the warrant that was issued today with the same 24 MT number says that it's quashed and she has a new court date on July 9th. Can you advise that to county and make sure that that's okay? >> And I just came from there from the county. >> Oh, >> can you go grab a receipt with the prices for me real quick? >> Yeah, she had a She put something in the car when I got here. So, >> okay. So, she put something in the car, too, that she stole, too. I don't know why she's trying to be tricky about this. Let's grab the bag you stole out, too. Just come on. Let's just get this done. Stop playing games. You have like you've done this. You have a problem. Let's just fix it and be on our way for [music] real. Otherwise, I'll tow the car and do all this. I don't want to do that. All right. Let's just act like an adult and know what we did and be done with it. >> It's probably Maybe it's in that bag. Okay. >> So, she has a Cook County warrant and a King County warrant. The King County warrant looks like it was quashed, but not the Cook County warrant. So, she'll have to go with us. We'll see if there's a bond amount. They might even say like just release her with a new court date. I don't know when the case is from, but we're going to take her and charge her with all the stuff she stole today cuz it's not like it's her first time. >> Wait, you need all my stuff? >> Everything you stole today is what we need. She knows what you stole. So, this bag, too. We'll just take the cart and then review everything. >> I need the belt though. >> Yeah. Follow up. >> What do you have receipts for before we have to do this four or five times? >> Since the suspect hadn't been honest, the officer conducted a search of her purse and found skin care products which looked suspiciously unopened. She denied taking one of the creams and proved it was open. [music] But there were still bottles of Dove that looked brand new. >> What about these though? >> What about this? She has the camera. She stole. >> All right. Well, you do have a Cook County warrant, [music] so you got to deal with that. >> I was going tomorrow. I have it on. >> I don't know what to tell you. >> Come on. >> Don't steal and you wouldn't have been caught today. I I'm sorry. I I don't feel bad for you and you keep doing the same things. Maybe the warrant will let you leave. I don't know. Maybe it'll be like, "Oh, you're free to go." >> You want to What? want me to stay here, get all this stuff taken care of. >> You have to go with us [music] no matter what. We have to process you for stealing all this stuff again. So, I don't know. And then we'll find out on the way there hopefully what the warrant information is and you can call them off and tell mom what what you need. When was [music] like I don't know if it's an old case there'd be a bottom. It's not an old case, then you're going to get >> for a court. That's a for probation. And I have Can I take on my >> I know you can, but that's not your probation officer is not going to be do anything [music] for us. Unfortunately, we can only go off of what our computer says. If you had the K County warrant, like you had the paperwork, so [music] we were totally cool with that. I would have just been like, it's quash. You can do it July 9th, but you got to go county. >> Yeah. We're going to go to the station and just start working on this so we can get you out of here as fast as possible. >> The suspect was charged with retail theft. >> On Christmas Eve 2024, officers were called to a Cole store for report of [music] a female shoplifter who had managed to drive away with her daughters before the officers arrived. >> I just left from Walmart. >> Did you buy something? >> No, the line was too long. I was actually going there to exchange some stuff. Then I picked up a blue dress which I put back and cuz the line was too long, I hung it right there by the uh register and then I left out the store. >> Okay. All right. Well, why don't you step out while we figure out your driver's license and all that stuff? Okay. >> All right. >> The girls can stay in the car. >> Have any weapons or anything? >> No. No. I have >> You don't want me to have move that way so they can >> It's okay. I'll figure it out. Meanwhile, the officer's partner went to the Kohl's to talk to employees about the incident. It probably came as no surprise when they said that the suspect picked up more than just a blue dress. >> She um came in with this bag and she had something from another store as well cuz we don't sell this. And she was putting stuff in here and then she >> actually walked out with stuff. >> Yeah. In this bag which we sell. She grabbed it when she first came in. >> You know roughly how much? Um, >> yeah. >> Well, after I rang this up, um, there's some stuff I'm not able to make out, but for the most part, this is the stuff that >> Oh, that's just that. >> No, not this. It was um like a different size, different color type stuff, but this is like the brand and everything. >> Okay, I see. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> cuz the exact items we just kind of had one of. >> So, like I can get like a different size or different >> We have the car stop to jump in and >> Yeah. >> identify. >> Yeah. >> All right. One second. Um, >> were there were there three other people with her? >> I only saw two other people. There was a younger girl looked like with headphones on and then there was somebody in the passenger seat when they but it was only those two that were inside her and then I guess it looked like her daughter with headphones on and then there was somebody in the back seat when they drove off. She had like a cigarette smoking right when she got in the car. All right, one second. >> The Cole's employee was driven to the site of the traffic stop to ID [music] the woman he'd reported. On the way, the officer took advantage of the time to go through the legal instructions with him for witnesses identifying a suspect. >> So, the person presented uh presented to you may or may not be the perpetrator. The witness you should not feel compelled to make a positive identification. The investigation will continue whether uh positive identification is made or not. Um, you should not discuss any aspect of this show up or identification process with any other witness in media. In media contact should be discouraged. >> Yeah. Perfect. >> Understood. >> Yeah. >> So, for your as as far as you're concerned, it's only one person, right? Um, so it was the one lady carrying the bag and then she just had somebody else with her just kind of behind her, >> right? But she was she was carrying >> she was the only one who had anything in her position. >> Okay. And you guys want to prosecute, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> The employee gave a positive ID on the suspect and the first officer proceeded to cuff her. She might have denied the theft, but at least she was cooperative. So the officer was happy to work with her when it came to her teenage daughters. >> Can I just tell my kids? >> Yeah. to take your jewelry. >> I don't know. I just have the >> y'all get y'all go with Kate. My cousin get my car up here. >> That's Tiffany. Okay. She coming. >> Yeah. She got to get the car. >> She would come up here. I guess >> 48 94's going to be able to come up here and we're going to have this thing put on the side of the road. >> Yeah. In a parking spot and then you guys can figure out how to because it it's not registered anywhere. >> Okay. >> Things weren't off to a good start because aside from the shoplifting, the suspect's license tag was expired. The officer then questioned her about the theft, but she continued to deny taking anything. She repeated the same story about picking up a dress and then putting it back, claiming it was on the rack by the register. >> Either way, you can't drive this. >> I know. Regardless of what happens here, you're good here. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> No problem. >> I'm going to run over there. I'll try to get >> Okay, no problem. >> But you're saying it was a dress. Did you go back on the rack? >> It was a blue dress. I got in line. They'll see. I got in line. The blue dress is still hanging there. It's It's on a rack with a bunch of uh like uh miscellaneous stuff. It's a blue dress. It's on a rack right by the register with a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. >> Okay. >> Yep. And that's where I hung it at. No problem. >> Take my take my You want me to talk >> and take the earrings off. >> When the officers searched the suspect's car, they discovered a bag full of expensive cologne. Just as the officer was completing his search, the suspect's other cousin arrived to pick up the unregistered vehicle. >> All right. So, a lot of stuff doesn't belong to her, obviously. >> So, she's going to go to jail. >> Okay. >> For retail theft. >> I'll you guys take the car. We got to take this thing off. >> Okay. >> Is the key? >> Yeah. Uh, it should be. >> Is it okay if I look? >> Yep. Now, do you have >> Do you have your ID with you so I can see? >> Check with check with her. >> I'll check with her. You can go back there with me and as long as she says that it's okay to leave the car with you, >> we're good. >> I I need that with you. Well, no. She's okay with David and all that. >> Yeah. >> You okay with the car going to her? They'll put She's going to All right. She's going to put the car over here. They got to tow it later to go get Okay. All right. >> Um Yeah. So, all that perfume and cologne and everything that belongs to Kohl's, that wasn't paid for. So, it probably >> They don't have that on video cuz I I They don't have that on video at all. It seemed odd the suspect was getting so defensive with her claims that the store didn't catch her stealing on video if she was truly innocent. [music] But the officer humored her and asked if she had a receipt for all the items she supposedly purchased. >> The thing I came in the store, right? I came in there and I had that stuff I wanted to exchange. I picked up a blue dress. I seen one of the lady actually got on the phone. I picked up a blue dress. The line was too long. I put that back and I proceeded to my car. They don't have anything with me. >> The suspect could deny stealing all she wanted, but her story just wasn't matching up with what the officers had found in her car. He took the stolen items back to Kohl's and had an employee ring them up to get the total value. Then he spoke again to the employee who' reported the theft. So, today's date, uh, the 24th, Christmas Eve, um, at about 1:50 or so, um, I was in the back, um, in the bathroom. I got a call from an associate saying there was a black female in here who she believed was in here before, um, concealing merchandise pertaining to like, um, women's clothing. Okay. >> Um, after getting the call, um, I'm still on the phone with the associate. I come up here and then I see the the suspect, the woman, um passing through fixtures, kind of like ducking but trying to be like kind of careful with it. Um just trying to stay out of sight or constantly moving. Um once I got like visual contact, I noticed um she was black female, like freshly done hair, like braids about 30 in or so. Um she was a bit lighter. She had a white shirt on with floral accents like um yellow blue. She had uh denim jeans on and um once I was able to um like what's the word uh ID her in terms of um like make contact or visual contact I noticed that she had two bags a red gift bag like uh for Christmas presents and stuff and then one of our tote bags that she was seen grabbing as she entered the store. The employee confirmed the bag she'd grabbed was the Mickey Mouse one found in her car full of all the stolen items. He described some of the items they'd seen her taking, and the officer checked with him if any were paid for. >> No, nothing was paid for. >> Nothing was paid for. And so she went past all points of sale without attempting to render any form of payment or did she make any? >> Um, no attempt to pay or anything. Um she went through the back area of the registers as she look appearing to be getting in line, but then she kind of cut behind around um the little baker's rack we have and fixtures and made her way throughout the door at uh 145. No, 154 when I called you guys. >> Did she come in with this bag? >> No, she did not. >> Okay. So, she came in with >> with anything that I saw, but she was seen like the first minute or two of her entering. She had a red gift bag, but I can't ID it as ours. >> Neither one of them walked in with that bag. >> No, not this. >> And that bag >> left the store with all of these items inside of it. Okay. >> The employee confirmed the store did wish to pursue charges with the stolen items totaling a staggering $936. All of Cole's property was recovered, and the blue dress the suspect kept talking about was also located in the store. A trip to jail definitely was not part of her Christmas Eve plans. On March 18th, 2022, officers were dispatched to a Target store to investigate a shoplifting incident involving a woman named Kelsey, who tried to steal over $1,500 worth of camping gear. They arrived on scene to find an employee waiting for them. >> How you doing? >> Assum not she's a mom, but she's a child. The mother is right here on the other side of the team. >> Okay. >> With the black shirt. Uh but the card total card amount that was pushed out is just over $1,500. >> So mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom had did mom have anything? >> Mom was not with her. We only apprehended the Kelsey is her child because she was one push. >> How old is she? 20 22. She was born in 2000. >> Oh so she's an adult. >> She's an adult here. So I'm not sure if you guys have anything about that. Okay. >> So, was mom and her shopping together or >> Yeah, they were both together, but the daughter was the one pushing the cart when they exited the store. So, we >> Okay. Does she Does she know what's going on? >> I came out here to try and talk to her and then I saw you guys down here. >> Okay. >> After the officer got a good idea of the situation and it was clear there were two potential suspects, [music] he called for backup and then went to speak with Kelsey's stepmother. >> How you doing, ma'am? >> Good. You? Good. What's going on today? >> Nothing. >> So, no one was trying to take a card outside that >> my stepdaughter. >> Your stepdaughter. Okay. >> You had nothing to do with that? >> No. >> Okay. >> Okay. Well, hang tight here for a second. I'm going to go talk to her. Okay. >> Okay. >> The assets protection employee led the officer to the back office where they had Kelsey seated. They said they wanted to press charges because of the total amount of all the goods she tried to steal. >> This is all such. It was only one card, but this is >> okay. >> So, one last thing from me. This is a test statement basically says you're not allowed in this target for a year. >> Did she make it out of the store? >> Yeah, she made it all past all points of sales like right in that vestibial area. That's where she >> Okay. Okay. What's your name? Keys put K E L S I E >> S I E W I N >> sorry >> G W I N >> July 25th, 2000. >> So what's going on today? trying to get into my living situation is going to be >> okay amount. >> I just got back to where I was doing good. >> That's a that's a significant >> I understand that, but that's a significant amount of stuff you you took. The backup arrived and the two officers discussed the situation. Since Kelsey was the one who'd pushed the cart past all points of sale, it was looking like she was the one who needed to be arrested. But as her stepmom had been with her, she could have been an accomplice. >> Hey, ma'am. [music] Come off this. I'm going to have a word with you. >> Okay. >> We'll just step right over there. Okay. >> All right. Here, I'm going to read Miranda. Okay. Before we do any questioning, anything you say can and will be used against. Do you understand the rights I've explained to you? >> Okay. So, [music] it's my understanding you're here with uh stepdaughter. >> Okay. [clears throat] Let me get your name real quick. What's your first name? >> Judy. Spell it out for me. >> Jud Y. >> Do you have a license [music] on you, Judy? >> Um >> or an ID? >> Yeah. Can I get a set my purse in the carton? No, it's in here. in the cart here. >> No, it's my purse. [music] It's >> your purse in the cart. >> Oh, you wanted I Yeah, I got you. >> While the second officer spoke to Judy, his partner continued to question her stepdaughter. It seemed like there was no love loss between the two. Given how quick Judy had been to throw Kelsey under the bus, but Kelsey [music] had a different story. >> Where where was where was she at? apartments. Any idea which one? [music] >> So she she knowingly knew what was going on. >> Okay. So is is she in the same situation to you or Okay. >> They're about to >> So she might have to figure out. [music] So, she knew she knew what was going on the whole time you were doing this. >> Okay. >> While it's sad that she was struggling with homelessness, it's still not okay for her to steal. The first officer proceeded to arrest her. After he handcuffed her, it was time to lead her out of the store and over to the squad car. >> This yours [music] Thank you. >> [music] >> Okay. Is there an apartment or is that a house? >> All right, Judy. So, it's my understanding [music] the items in there is over $1,000. >> Now, what is your role in this? >> I am hurt cuz I don't need you. And I was just giving her rides today. She's been homeless for like a year and a half and >> I thought she had the money to pay for it. >> Okay. Now, did you tell her to leave stuff without paying or? >> No. >> So, what at what point did you see her leaving without it? Or were you trying to leave too? >> No, I was on my way out and she was still back there shopping. I didn't even know that she was right behind me. >> Okay. So, like as you're tell me where you were when you were on the way out and where she was. >> I was almost outside and then I just heard a ruckus and turned around and they were there. >> That guy was there. I thought she was paying herself. >> You thought she was paying for it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The second officer explained to Judy that her stepdaughter was under arrest. Although they didn't have [music] any charges against Judy yet, she could still face charges if they later found proof she was involved in the theft. He then tried to get a fuller picture of Kelsey's situation [music] and the relationship between her and Judy. >> Does she live with you? >> She has stayed there a few nights. >> Okay. >> When does she last live there or stay when has she last stayed at your house? >> Um been a couple weeks probably. Yeah. >> Okay. Other than that, you're just kind of picking her up, driving around. Does she have a place to live or homeless? >> She's been wherever for probably last year, year and a half. >> Okay. >> All right. Just uh hang tight for just another moment and >> I'll get you on your way. Okay. >> Okay. >> Hey, sir. You know about all this? >> Yeah. I'm the one that I >> Okay. Did you see her leaving with the groceries, too? >> Okay. [music] >> So, she was like at the front door, right? And when you caught >> Okay. >> I see. Okay. >> The first officer checked Kelsey's details and found she already had a warrant for [music] driving while suspended. So, he advised her to talk to a lawyer. Meanwhile, the second officer told Judy she was free to go. [music] When he returned to the loss prevention office, the employees gave more details on what they'd seen Judy doing. >> The only reason we apprehended Kelsey was because she was the one with the merchandise when they passed that final point of sale. >> So, >> okay. >> She didn't have merchandise when she exited. That's correct. But she was actively participating in stuff. >> I'll put that in the report. Um, >> and I I'll be able to provide video once I get it all pulled. So, whenever they like I have the case number already, I'll be able to get all that stuff on. >> Okay. Um, granted it you you're saying the girl that was pushing this though that you pulled over, she she was like trying to leave though was none of it was paid for and she had the car out of the checkout stand. >> Yeah, I don't I don't have enough to uh place that other woman under arrest. But >> so she's up that's her duty up front. Okay. Judy was up front. They made their way through this bypassing all of the check lanes. She was maybe 10, eight feet in front of her, >> but because she had the unpaid merchandise, that's pretty. >> Okay. >> And I did try asking Kelsey. I said, "Did your stepmom put you up to this? Was she like trying to coersse you to do this?" And it was a no. >> I was thinking she was way farther ahead. >> No, it was just maybe 10 ft if that. And that's how she walked through in front of her the whole store. >> Yeah. While they were shopping and putting stuff in the carts. >> Okay. >> The employees went on to say it was Judy who' picked out the more expensive items in their cart. It was beginning to look like she was part of the theft, but there was no strong evidence. The officer then had a closer look at the security footage to see if the cameras had caught anything. >> Stepmom kind of pushing the card. Sure. >> You're good. >> Great. Yeah. Good. And >> she's already put two of the >> she's already put the grill and two of the tents in there >> in the aisle. She did. >> Yep. Just in one. >> Can you rewind that? So this >> There's one of them. And then the daughter, I believe, puts the girl in. >> Nope. She put the girl in. Did you guys get a itemized receipt of this yet or? >> Yeah, we not item. We got like a suspense that gives the total but in the report we can make sure we list everything. Would that work for you or >> um >> you got a suspended receipt you said? >> Yeah, we gave it to the other officer. >> Oh, you did? Okay. That's that's all we need then. >> She was claiming that she thought her daughter was going to check out. Um, and she had already walked kind of out and then back to her daughter and then walked out again together. >> This was before this happened. >> Mhm. They had split off. Not necessarily split off, but Judy had walked towards the door and then walked back to [music] Kelsey and then they walked out together. Kelsey was taken to jail and charged with thirdderee theft and two counts of probation violation. Further investigation was needed into Judy's involvement, but after reviewing the CCTV footage, it became clear that the two women were working together. So, they put a warrant out for Judy's arrest and trespassed both women. On September 12th, 2024, a Sephora store reported a 36-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter concealing a large amount of merchandise. Officers arrived on scene and started by talking to Loss Prevention. >> All right, so I'll bring you through a synopsis today. >> Perfect. >> I was [clears throat] on [snorts] CCTV. >> Okay. >> I observed these two in the area of Dior, which is a high theft area. So I just continued observation. >> Sure. >> And she just crossed cuz there's the orange YSL and I observed her select and conceal items. Observed her select items, hand them to her, conceal items. And then they just proceeded around the store just selecting and concealing various items. >> Yeah. >> And then they proceeded to bypass all points of sale and exit without uh payment. >> Nice. I met them right outside the exit. And >> do you know who had what? >> Uh, she did a majority of the concealing, but she was handling her items. So, >> okay. >> After the Sephora employees confirmed they'd seen the video footage of the two women attempting to shoplift, the officer read the suspect their Miranda rights. Although they confirmed they understood those rights, they seemed unsure about talking to him. >> I mean, it's up. Do you want to tell me what happened? You want to tell me anything? I mean, I know they kind of already went through it, but uh just was the plan not to pay for this stuff or >> I don't know. Just really sorry. >> Yeah. Is she your daughter? >> Okay. Um, is there anybody else that like do you have a husband or anybody else? Does she have a dad that you are in contact with? >> No. Where is he at? >> Okay. You guys live together? >> No, he's in um Bellingham. >> Bellingham. Okay. Can I get his contact information? Um cuz so right now both of you are under arrest for the theft. Okay. Yeah. The officer took the dad's contact information, but when he asked the suspects for their ID, the mom just asked if there was anything they could do to avoid the arrest. Unfortunately, that boat had sailed the moment they tried to walk out. >> So, we got a few options. So, I can put you both in handcuffs now. We can walk all the way through the mall or >> you just woke up. >> We still got to go to my car, though. >> That's fine. >> Okay. All right. And I mean, if anybody runs, right, you're just going to be tackled. So, >> okay. Um, but yeah, if you guys are continue to be compliant, then you know, we don't have to throw in handcuffs in front of everybody. But, um, my car is not too far. So, but we'll just sit in there. I'll fill some paperwork and figure the rest out. Okay. Thanks. Cool. The two suspects went with the officer willingly, as promised, [music] and they cooperated when he asked them to empty their pockets and hand everything over for safekeeping. >> You're still going to have to go in handcuffs, though. Okay. >> So, here, before you step in there, I'm going to I'll put you in handcuffs. Just turn around. Yeah. Sorry. Thank you. Appreciate it. Do you have any questions? Oops. No. there. I'll try and change that one real quick for you. What's that? >> Yeah. So, I'll go over that with you here. Twist your arm a little bit. There you go. A little more. There. Yeah. Perfect. Thank you. Perfect. So, you can go ahead and take a seat. Thank you. And then I'll have to put you in hand in handcuffs as well. Appreciate it. Thank you very much. We try not to hurt your wrist. Okay. Yep. How's that feel? Good. >> All right. Go ahead and take a seat. >> Thank you. >> Once both suspects were seated in the back of his squad car, the officer told them that he needed to talk to his sergeant about what would be happening next. [music] Because according to Sephora, they'd committed two felonies. That caught them all by surprise. >> So over $750 is a felony. So, I'm going to ask my sergeant and see if we can figure out something so that, you know, both of you aren't going, but both of you had merchandise. It all equals above 750 bucks, then both of you are going to be arrested for a felony, which is pretty bad, right? Um, that doesn't mean that you're going to be convicted of a felony, right? So, how the process works is tomorrow morning, first today, Thursday or Friday. So, >> tomorrow morning you guys will both see if you're both going, let's just say, okay, tomorrow morning you'll have a court date set. A judge will see you in the morning sometime probably via like a like Zoom or something and they'll either say, you know, you can bail out that day and leave or they'll you'll be released or you'll stay however long the judge sees fit. But considering it's your guys' first times ever being arrested, they'll probably go a little easy on you. >> The mother [music] and daughter duo were charged with felony retail theft. If there's a list of things you should never do with your daughter, stealing should definitely be one of the top items. Because when entitled mother and daughter duos get caught shoplifting, their next bonding date would be behind [music] bars.
