It's just a class to teach you how to handle sharks. Yeah, it's got Yeah, you know, all that. Yeah, take the hook out, how to relive, how to bring them back to life, all that stuff, but it doesn't give you a fishing license. It gives you a uh privilege to go try to harvest a shark, but you have to have that fishing license to do it. All right. So, the only fish, sir, that you get to keep today is this guy. Do you know this is? That's a mahara or a sand perch. [Applause] All right. So, That's That's upsetting cuz I I went on cuz I didn't want to be fishing without it. It's un- it's understandable, but sir, and I went on and I thought I renewed it all. Under- understandable. Understandable. Truly, what's upsetting right here is that you guys are fishing with no fishing license, you didn't know the size limit of the fish that you're harvesting, you're over the bag limit on harvest, and you're still out here fishing. If you have your fish book with you, the easiest thing to do is open up that book, take a scroll, look up black drum, and say, "Oh my gosh, they need to be 14 in and I can only keep five of these, not all of mine are around 10 to 12 in and I have 11 of them." This is our job is to protect the resources that Florida have to offer. You are so lucky that you are not going to jail right now. Do you realize that? These are misdemeanors on your guys' records for a fish. Okay? You need to know the rules and regulations before you come out and fish in the state waters of Florida. This is why we have this job, to protect the resources so the future can enjoy them how everyone else enjoyed them right now. That's our job and that's why we're here, okay? So, we got to see, and then we'll read off your driver's license number to our dispatch, and then they'll confirm. Well, I got the fishing license in my book. Okay. Um before you get in the car, we always have to ask, are there any weapons in the car? Okay. Well, I'm just saying, some people keep guns in their glove box and stuff like that. It's just something that we need to confirm once we uh allow someone to enter their vehicle just for safety purposes. Okay, do you have your copy of your fishing license? Okay, so yours just expired. You got it in 2023 and it expired so it just expired. Yours wasn't in 2024, okay? All right, we're just going to walk this license back with us. So So sir, as he explained to you all of those copies that you're signing right now, as he told you it's not admission of guilt. In the end, Shane was charged with being over the bag limit of black drum and two counts of possession or harvest of undersized black drum. He played no contest and his adjudication was withheld. He was ordered to pay $1,245 in costs and fees, which were paid over the course of 1 year. Alfred was initially charged with being in possession of undersized mangrove snapper and possession or harvest of undersized black drum. As part of a negotiated plea deal, he played no contest to the snapper charge and was ordered to pay $470 in costs and fines, which were paid shortly after.
