on May 14th 2022 the Wildwood Crest Police Department observed a vehicle run a red light at an intersection and then turn onto another road the police officer activated the emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle continued and turned onto a different street hello Hi how are you good my name's Corporal haerer with the wild crust police hi how are you good how are you good reason I stopped you when you guys just pulled off you ran right through that red light oh I'm so sorry yeah after the vehicle was pulled over the officer approached the driver who was identified as 21-year-old Giana upon contact Giana appeared to be in an aggressive and confrontational State the officer requested gian's documents and she provided identification cards in addition to her personal documents she mentioned that her grandfather was a retired police officer and that a family friend was a State Trooper where you guys headed we're headed home right now okay where I live okay where you guys coming from we're coming from um our friend's house on wilda Crest on wilda Crest yeah in wilda Crest yeah Danny's house where what's your on again I just picked my friend up from there he wasn't feeling good who are all these people is this saw the same guy no the yeah that's my grandpa he's a a retired police officer in glester Township in New Jersey okay South Jersey yeah these are all his yeah gotcha and then a close family friend as well oh this some of K yeah he's a close family friend he's a State Trooper in Williamstown okay yep all right and you're going where we're going back to my house in um what are you guys doing tonight we're just going home going to bed yeah yeah you guys out the bars no I was just picking my friend up he wasn't feeling good so we're just dropping him off at my house gotcha yeah all right give me a couple minutes all right okay problem be right back with you during the investigation the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the woman's breath and observed signs of intoxication in her physical appearance indicating she was drunk when questioned about her level of intoxication she was evasive Charlie 497 count 49 just add a new jersey deal is for [Music] is all right Tiana how much have you drank tonight um like one drink that's it just one yeah cuz when I'm talking to you I I don't know if it's everybody else I I can smell alcohol coming out of the car okay all right um we don't have any alcohol in the car no no no that's that's fine I can smell like alcohol coming out so I don't know if it's you or other people in the car but what I want to do I want to make sure you're okay to drive okay so what I want you do can you just step out of the car for me and I want to run you through a couple tests sure all right Charlie ni time you just had one yes how long ago is that can you step up on the otherso what's that couple hours ago okay right up here on the sidewalk he just time stamp soety testing please hang out with this officer for a second I got to turn off my lights [Music] all right right over here for me where it's nice and flat so a couple hours ago yes what was it we were just hanging out at no what was the drink you had uh Malibu bab bre okay and it was a few hours ago at the bar okay all right so do you have anything wrong with your eyes I wear contacts okay anything other than that that keep you from performing eye test I had a eye infection like a week ago but I just wear contacts that's it yeah that should be fine okay you think you can perform this yeah all right so what I want you to do stand with your feet together and arms down at your side just like this for me all right so what I want you to do follow the tip of my pen right here with your eyes and your eyes only okay don't move your head at all and just follow with your eyes you understand yes all right moving your head all right just keep your head right on me sorry and then follow with your eyes all right all right a little bit longer I'm sorry the officer instructed the woman to exit the vehicle and stand on the road to assess her sobriety to determine her level of intoxication the officer asked her to perform several tests these tests are used to confirm the extent of her impairment all right one more time all right I'm going to go up now okay same thing don't move your head all right I have two more tests for you um is there anything wrong with your legs or anything do you have any injuries that's about it no injuries or anything nope so nothing that would keep you from performing a balance test not to my awareness now all right so see this line right here what I want you to do put your left foot on that line do you want to take to the right or yeah yeah so I'll tell left foot on the line right foot in front of your left just like that like this yep arms down side all right so what I want you to do stay like that all right while I explain the test what I want you to do when I tell you I want you to take nine Heel To Toe steps up this line okay and when you get to your ninth step you're going to keep your front foot planted you're going to take a series of small steps and take nine heo steps back the whole time you're going to count each step out loud okay and if at any time you like stop or anything like that just continue where you left off okay you want me to take nine forward nine back yep I'm going to show it to you right now I'm not going to do a full nine I'm only going to do three okay stay like that for me yep all right so it's going to look like this one two three you get to nine this is my this is my nine keep your front foot planted series of small steps just like this nine back one two 3 okay sorry I'm like really cold right now do you have a jacket in you feel more comfortable with 6 in off the ground okay you're going to keep your front foot PL or you're going to keep that toe pointed out all right 6 in off the ground the whole time you're going to look at your foot right keep your feet down or arms down at your side and you're going to count out loud 1,1 1,2 1003 1004 and so on until I tell you to stop okay it's going to look like this all right 1001 1002 13 1004 1005 1006 17 you're just standing on one leg yep six in so just like that 6 in off the ground keep your eyes on on your foot okay and if at anytime say you put your foot down just pick it right back up and continue where you left off okay do you understand yes okay give me a second I'll tell you when to begin it's a little shaky I'm sorry no I understand it's cold out here Malibu babies and when we went to house I had one micho ultra beer that was it okay and you think you're okay to drive right now I'm definitely fine okay all right so what I'm seeing you're not okay to drive okay so you have to come back with us I have to place you in handcuffs you're under arrest for driving while intoxicated okay okay I think that was just a little bit shy and that was affecting my no well I'll explain more later but initially the police officer provided thorough instructions for the horizontal gaze nagus test following the hgn test the police officer conducted a walk and turn test a standard sobriety test the woman struggled with the test failing to maintain balance and coordination as she attempted to walk in a straight line and turn the uh I'll explain more we have we'll have time to talk but let me get my pen in my pocket okay all right come over here to this car 97 County have 14450 all right just put your hand behind your back for me need a is anybody in that car silver yeah my um friend in the passenger seat why wasn't she driving let me double lock these so they don't get any tight out here you good all right do you have anything on you oh then it doesn't look like it all right you're just hopping in here all right you want your seat belt on okay yes you do all right um I'm going to go around and grab it for you I don't want to reach around right is this our this our phone yeah cuz has to get towed cuz she's arrested for do you want seriously is this her purse or purse good you got about a uh 20 minute ETA for k it's just a a push a push start yeah does she have her key do you know where it's at she might have it on her I'm not really sure it's like a key fob key fob it's either on her or it's on her okay is this getting 581 to Charlie 97 yeah it's getting cuz for 450 okay does she have the car keys on her in the take her um yeah they said it's it's in the car so her key fop yeah the key fob it should be here this is how she starts car oh 104 all right you guys are going to yeah we're walk need anything do you want to he take her belongings cuz yeah yeah I can thank you I don't see the key fob in here it should be with her it's either in here it's in her pocket cuz she's they she they said that she doesn't have it so they're going to need it for the tow that's in her car she said it was in her purse after failing all the sobriety tests the police officer informed the woman that she was being arrested for driving Under the Influence they then proceeded with her arrest placing her in the patrol vehicle she was transported to the police station for further processing and investigation you guys want to just help me look real quick before I don't want to go search on her car what what wait okay what you need the key fob I just don't want to go searching in it's hot here's her her purse it's not here she probably has it wouldn't be in [Music] mine I don't yeah no I think she has it yeah make sure didn't fall out watch I think she would have it in her pocket cuz she wouldn't keep it like on heret anything in her Bo she wouldn't have it in herx BO did you check in the side door yeah uh can you ask her if her keys on her cuz it's I don't see it in the car and it's not on her wallet well we looked her friends look through it and it's not in it that all right all right thanks no okay do you think keep in in here or middle console is in the center console maybe I'll you guys have a far walk no it's right down the block on the left um so I guess she maybe has it or I'll check my first but I don't think she would ever get me yes sir why it fell down in her seat uh possibly but she usually her like her key fob in this console right here and it's not here oh wait hold on here it is found it yeah but she said that it was in the in the car in her pocket book not going to jail or anything just get some tiets all right all right upon arriving at court the woman faced charges for operating a vehicle Under the Influence careless driving and failure to obey traffic control devices these charges reflected her impairment unsafe driving behavior and non-compliance with traffic regulations
