Over here. Awesome. >> What' you guys catch? >> You got a sword in a wahoo. >> Sword in a wahoo. >> Okay. >> How big is the sword? >> Uh 30 27 26 and the shorter what it's called that uh the shorter measurement. The uh blanking on the name of it >> cuz the swords have to be I think 47. >> No, there's there's the two measurements. We were actually just looking at it. They got it up right here. >> This one? >> Yep. Fort to jaw. >> Well, there's the other me. >> Keep going. >> There's the We're on the Noah. >> Sorry. >> How far did you guys go out? >> We're in the Gulf. >> You were in the Gulf. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, we were using uh that's the uh sorry. >> Yeah. Still lower jaw. the the this one the cleaver and >> so >> so >> your local is still the lower okay and then your federal regulations is still lower jaw so it's still got to be 47 in >> so what ah sorry hold on >> it's all right let's pull let's pull them out >> so what what is this one is saying the 25 inch >> 25 inch C I'm not sure that one I've never seen that to be honest with you. >> That's what that's the no one that we looking at. >> Well, let's pull them out, right? >> Yeah. >> If anything, I'll I'll make a phone call and double check regardless. But yeah, >> that's what we were that's what we were going for. >> Yeah. If anything, I'll make a phone call. Wow. Nice. >> Uh maybe just a little bit. >> No, we knew this. We knew we had to measure the sword, so that's why we were being very careful with that one. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Who caught him? Um >> LP. >> I did. Yeah. Well, it was on the LP, so >> Oh, okay. So, you caught them. Okay. >> Yeah. >> And you have your fishing license and everything? The >> Florida one and the boat has the uh >> the boat has one, too. >> The boat has the Noah uh >> Laboratory. >> Okay. Yeah. We'll measure him real quick. Go ahead and put that on that lower jaw, >> sir. Yeah. He's 40. He's 40. He's the only two, right? >> The only two, right? Okay. All right. You say you have your license and everything. >> What's the actual >> You can put You can put the Wahoo back in. Just leave that sword out. >> What's the >> my FWC? >> Thank you. >> Or Florida fish. I mean, you can >> I know. I'll find this. >> Oh, you just had it. >> There it is. >> Yeah. So, you're going to go right there. Yes, sir. Okay. You're good. All right. All right. I'm just going to make a uh >> Do you need the boat HMS? The boat Noah license? >> No. >> Not right now. >> Um you have your ID on you by any chance? >> My license? >> Yeah, your license. >> I'm going to go grab it. >> Okay. >> That's definitely the best Wahoo I've seen today. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Nice. >> Only one other We've seen one other guy with a sword. His sword was about I think like 200 lb. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah. He was It was a good sword. >> Yeah. So we were going for it. >> Well, we're going to I'm going to double check. Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Haven't we just looked it up to double check and resaw? >> Yeah, I'm I'm going to double and triple check it cuz I'm going to show you what I'm uh what I'm looking at. So, I got >> Yeah, >> the fish rules, right? So, your local rules 47 and then it's >> lower jaw to the fort, right? >> But your federal rules >> Yeah. >> It's the same thing. >> And what's that CK? Cuz I feel like that's what we measured. >> Yeah. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to double and triple check. I'm just going to make a call, right? And if that's good, you guys are fine. Okay. But I want to like double check that. Okay. >> Okay. >> Awesome. All right. Give me a moment. I'm gonna hop back on. All right. Um could tell C just to slow down a little bit. >> Hey, Mike. >> And then we'll follow we'll follow you guys. Okay. >> Okay. >> What do they have? >> I'll hop on. >> Okay. Give me one second. Does he have spot lock on or is he just in neutral? >> Okay. >> Yeah. I'm just going to hop off cap and then you continue. Okay. And we'll follow behind you. What does he have? >> He's got a swordfish. It's only 30. No, 40 in. Has to be 47. >> Did you measure it? >> Yeah. >> Go get that swordfish. >> No, but the thing my question is, he's saying that it's so I wanted to call Bruder. >> One second, Captain. >> See where it says CK? I mean, I know it's lower jaw for >> No, that's a clether measurement. What measurement did you do? I did the lower jaw to the forklength. >> And how far was that? >> 40 inches. >> 40? You measured it? >> Yeah, >> it's going to be 47. >> Okay, then go get that swordfish. >> Okay. >> They could just throw it over so we can measure it. >> Get me close. >> Last thing I want to do is drop it. I'm going to come close and grab it. Oh, he's going to reverse right into it. >> Grab on. >> All right, >> I got you. >> You're good. >> You got their information. You got the boat information. >> I didn't get the boat information, but I got the guy who's caught its uh license and everything. He's the one that caught it. >> So, flatten it out so we can measure it. Hey, can you get the captain to get the vessel information for us? >> Yeah. What information? >> Yeah, the registration >> right there. >> Put it on here. Grab the boat. >> I got boats. Yeah. So, this fish is about 39. >> Yeah. >> It's not even >> Okay. >> Yeah. This one's ours. >> It is, right? >> Yeah. >> 8234 Broward. >> All right. I'm going to come alongside you. >> Okay. >> You got that vessel info. >> No, I'm just going to grab the vessel info. >> First page is the red page is the fishing permit. >> 10 four. Awesome. >> How many uh swords did you get? Is that the only one? >> That was the only one that caught a wahoo. But the wahoo is fine. >> Okay. Did you guys measure this? >> Yes, sir. Yeah. >> What did you guys measure it to? >> Over. We measured 26 from the club that we use the the Noah. >> So, it's 47 in. Correct. From its >> You're talking about the cle measurement. >> Uh, yes. Okay. >> Clear to kill. Yeah. So >> that one >> lower jaw. It's a fork length. >> That one's 47, right? We use the other one. >> It has to be 47 in. >> But it says >> the cle the keel measurement is going to be the exact same. Uh it's proportionate, right? It's going to be proportionate for the cle and the keel measurement. And that's only really for if the head's not on it when you're on land. >> So it has to follow both regulations. >> Give me one second. All right. >> Okay. Yeah. It said doesn't work. That's why we check it. Reach faster. >> Can you tell him to turn his spot lock off? You guys are moving back and forth. >> Sorry. Can you tell him to turn the spot lock off? >> We don't have anything on. >> You don't have anything on. The boat's completely in neutral. >> Okay. Just give me a minute. I'll hop right on it and get him to sign it. >> This has got all the documentation in it. Also a copy of the citation. Okay. What I'm going to need you to do is I'm going to need you to sign right here on the bottom. Okay. I'm going need your signature right there. Okay. And then one more. I'm going to need your signature right here. Yes, sir. Okay. All right. That is all I need from you, sir. >> Like I said, >> all your copies and your ID is in there. >> All the documentation is in that uh book. Okay. >> All right. >> All right. All right, guys. is you guys free to go. >> In the end, Elliot was charged with harvesting or possessing a swordfish that is less than 47 in in lower jaw length or 25 in in cleum to keel length. He completed a misdemeanor diversion program and the charge was later dropped. Both Noah and FWC could do a better job in clarifying this regulation on their websites. Both of their websites show minimum lengths in a way that could easily confuse anglers into thinking it's an eitheror measurement. However, if you dig into the actual state statute, it clarifies that the CK measurement is only used when the swordfish's head is removed.
