An officer with Florida Fish and Wildlife responded to a call in reference to a male subject allegedly possessing a red fox. >> I switched over. >> Hey, how's it going, man? >> Good. >> I'm officer Fanisttock Fish and Wildlife. >> Yes. >> You Mark? >> Yes. >> Okay. Okay. I'm here to talk to you about um I guess you got some wildlife you're keeping back there in a cage. >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, you mind coming out here and talking to me about that? Yeah. >> Okay. Cool, man. You got your ID with you? >> No. >> Can you get it for me? >> Orlando 6450 here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. If you don't mind getting it for me, it's Yeah. >> Thank you, sir. >> Hey, you're going to have to wait a second cuz I can't find my ID. My My wife's not here. >> That's okay. You can come on out. I don't need it. Okay. Um, I mean it' be nice. Does any is there anybody here to watch your kids or >> No, that's I'm by myself. >> Okay. How old are they? >> Can they come out here with us? >> No. Four and one compromise. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. Um, >> can you come back tomorrow? >> No. So, um, I'll go back there anyway. Um, based off Florida statute 379 3311. I I can go back there with you or without you. >> I don't know what that is. So, >> it just means that you have a wildlife potential wildlife violation. So, I can just go check. >> I have a fox back there. I'm not going to sit there and live. >> Yeah. Yeah. I know that's why I'm going to go look. So, um but I don't want you to leave your kids unattended if if that's if they shouldn't be unattended. I can go look. But >> well, I have I have a protection dog back there. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. >> So, that's what I do for a living. >> Gotcha. I saw Yeah, I saw all the cages, so I was like, man, he must do something with dogs or >> Yeah, I do both and >> Oh, okay. Yeah, I definitely don't want to get uh hit by that thing. >> So, what is what is uh >> So, so do you have a do you do you have a permit for it? >> No. >> To to keep it? >> No. >> No. Okay. So, um, how did you acquire it? >> A friend of mine that was moving gave it to me. >> A friend gave it to you. Okay. And you got paperwork and all that stuff from them like for the sale of it and everything. >> I didn't know they was needed. I >> Okay. So, are they like a breeder or? >> No, they just were leaving and >> they left it to you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you don't have any paperwork. You don't have a permit. Um, okay. And you've had it for about how long? >> Few months. >> Few months. Okay. And what are you feeding it? >> Raw. >> Raw diet. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Like raw what? >> Um vegetables. I mean, we looked it all up. >> Okay. Do you feed a dog food? >> No. >> I don't even feed my dogs dog food. >> Okay. It's all raw. >> Okay, cool. >> Dog food for my dogs is just the the thing you could possibly put. >> Got it. >> That'd be like eating McDonald's every day. >> Right. Right. Okay. Um Okay. Yeah. I need to go back there and take a look. I mean, you're more than welcome. Like I said, I It's your choice. I can go. >> I don't want I don't want you have to shoot one of my dogs to get out. >> Yeah. No, I don't want to do that. Are they chained up or what are they? >> No. No. That's cause of aggression. They're They're all locked up, but >> they're in these buildings. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> They're all locked up, but life is like >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. So, do do you train them for like for sale or for law enforcement or >> Yeah, we do it all. We we um we uh in law enforcement we do um like personal protection like we we work with Cat Williams. Um so I have all the enclosures and double enclosed. >> Gotcha. Okay. And so um as far as that enclosure goes, what made you build it like that? Did you look things up? Did you >> Googled? Okay. >> Hotel and at no point you saw, hey, I need a permit to own a fox. I I didn't honestly >> cuz he did a lot of research but not that. >> Okay, gotcha. >> Do I have to give them up to you guys or did they get comment or >> Oh, yeah. You can't have that. So, yeah, we're we're going to deal with that. Um, so you got a few issues going on. Um, and possibly more. >> Then we're going to go over um Do you know the dimensions of your cage? >> Yes. >> What is it? >> 5 by 10. >> 5 by 10. Okay. So, I'm going to measure that real quick. Where's the dog at? here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Uh yeah, if you don't mind, man. Uh let me see. Maybe I'll get it here. What you got? >> So, do you take them right out? >> Uh probably 57. >> Um >> hold it or I don't want to. >> No, you're good, man. So, it's 57 in. >> Yeah. So, these are these are 5x5 dogs. >> Okay. So, 57 5x5. Okay. Um, so we have like a captive wildlife team of investigators. So then I'll get in contact with them and then we'll go they'll we'll go from there. Uh, let's see. So 57. Okay. And you said these are 5T wide. >> Okay. Bob wired. Not bobb wire but uh >> Yeah. So it should be 10 feet basically. Uh, >> is that male or female? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Swiper. >> What is it? >> Swiper. >> Swiper. Isn't that Gotcha. Okay. >> Oh, I think it just All right. So, >> you need to go in or >> No. Right. No, not right. The second. Do you handle that by hand? >> I'm sorry. >> Do you pick that up by your hands? >> Yeah, he goes right in. >> Oh, really? Yeah. >> It's like tame. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. Okay. Well, that's interesting. >> That was that was part of why I just didn't want to let him go. And I And your And you know >> Gotcha. He's a little spooked now cuz he doesn't >> Gotcha. How tall is this? I'm 63. So, yeah, it's got to be that one dude. Jason Kelsey. >> Me? I don't know about that. Okay. >> I don't know. >> All right. There. All right. 57. >> Give me one second. I'm going to go to >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 67. How many dogs you keep in there? >> Oh, like five. >> Oh, okay. They're quiet right now. >> The most important thing I've learned about kids and dogs, if they're well behaved, >> you know. >> Gotcha. So, you ain't got to let them out. I don't need to see. >> I I was going to show you the uh >> Oh, inside there. Okay. >> Even in their view, it's pretty quiet. >> Oh, I'm going to turn my lights so I can see. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I got you. That's my RC. >> Gotcha. Um, okay. So, we got that. And you said you've had it about how long? >> Couple months. >> Couple months. Okay. And you feed it a raw diet? >> Yeah, like blueberry. Like >> like just like a fruits and and meat or >> Yeah, fruits and meat. >> Okay. Raw diet. Try to like what I do with my dogs is try to get them as close as natural. >> Right. Okay. >> People like I don't know if you saw the pro play this got a recall. >> Oh, did they? >> Dogs died. >> Oh no. Well, that ain't no good. That's not That's unfortunate for the dogs. How How often do you do you feed her? >> Three times a day. and >> our body weight. >> Okay. And then uh water. >> Okay. How often do you clean out the kennel? >> Once a week. >> Today is usually my cleaning day, but uh I've been sick all day. Not I have Crohn's. It's not contagious or anything. >> Gotcha. >> You're all right, man. All right. Uh, >> I'm a Florida boy. I can't stand a that >> I got you. All right, I just got to grab a few pictures real quick. There we go. You know what gauge this is? >> I can find out. >> Yeah, if you don't mind, just uh Sorry. >> If you don't mind, just tell me what gauge you got there. >> Okay. And I know you said you don't have your ID. What's uh So, is your first name's Mark? >> All right, cool. And then this is what zip tie behind. >> All right, let me do >> 18 gauge. Okay. >> So, to get in out this way would be your inside. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. I got one of those front gates like that and then there. Okay. Chicken wire. >> Okay. Yeah, we can head back there. I know you got kids and stuff over there. Appreciate it. >> Strawberry is a lot of people think hot dogs and strawberries. We have seven kids. >> Seven. >> Yeah. >> Goodness. Strawberries is like the number one cause of because they it's a perfect canal to to uh to choke. >> It's So you're saying it's bad for them to eat it? >> I would cut them up. >> Oh, okay. I got you. >> I mean, they can eat them all day long. It's good natural sugar. But if you swallow that, it's like a hot dog. It just >> Okay. >> Like I didn't realize like every pen cap, like the big pens, they have little holes in them that you can't >> Gotcha. They used to have airway. >> Gotcha. Okay. All right, cool, man. Um, give me a few minutes. I got to look up all this dimensions and all the caging and all this stuff. Uh, and, uh, feel free to hang out inside and I'll I'll come knock on the door once once I go over all that. >> Can I call my attorney or >> uh, I mean, at this moment, you can do whatever you want. Um, that's your your choice, but probably looking at some criminal charges. Um, you've been cool, calm, collect. Show me what you got. Uh, so if we do go that route based off of the dimensions and everything, like I said, I got to verify everything. If you do have that, um, I'm just going to what I'm going to do is give you a court date, go to court, talk to the judge, and then he'll give you a judgment. It's usually a fine or something. Um, >> like 20 years. >> No, no, no. Like, like, so like if if I wanted to, if there's criminal charges here, I could take you to jail right now. Um, I don't think our interaction warrants that. Um, so if we do go that route, like I said, I'll give you what's called a notice to appear instead. You're going to get a piece of paper, go back inside, >> and then you'll go to court in like a month, month and a half, and then just talk to the judge about it and tell your side, and that's really it. >> Do we take them? I just don't want them to get killed. >> Uh, I can't answer that for you. I don't know. >> No, I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. >> Could that happen? I I don't know. >> Everything can happen in life, you know. Um, but >> so that's a captive wildlife thing. So, I'll uh that's one another thing I'm going to do is talk to those investigators and let them know and uh get the uh advised by them. So, that's that's what I'll do. >> I get a court date and then >> uh Yeah. Yeah. So, you probably get some fines, a court date, stuff like that. Um like I said, I'm not going to take a jail over this. I don't think we need to go that route. Cool. Come and collect with me. No, >> but you do. There are >> I honestly thought that uh you know, >> like I said, I'm going to go over everything cuz you do need a I believe it's like a class 3 permit in order to have these uh in order to purchase one from somebody. There's a like like basically a bill of sale that you have to have from that person. >> I looked it up in uh as far as monkeys and stuff, but I didn't know. >> So, they fall into like a class 3 with a bunch of I believe it's class three with a bunch of other wildlife and stuff which requires permits. And then like if you would have gotten it from the wild, that's a whole other ball game. Um, so, so we got a few things and then there there's certain caging requirements and other things. And so that's why I'm about to verify. >> So tonight, do you bring him in like normal or? >> He's probably going to go with me tonight. >> Okay. >> So, um, like I said, give me a little bit of time. >> He's used to that cage and it would I'm just trying to help out. It' be easier if I put him in the cage. >> Yeah. Yeah. Once we get to that point, we'll we'll figure something out. >> He's going to get spooked if you're there, but I I don't want anything. >> Yeah. Once we get to that point, we'll we'll go from there. >> And uh >> if I end up if you allow me to and I end up using that cage, I'll obviously bring it back. Or >> you have it? >> I I have my own. But it's but it's your cage. I would bring it back to >> you. He just >> Yeah. No, I get it. Yeah, absolutely. So, let me uh like I said, give me a little bit of time to do this research and then uh I'll come up there and knock on there when I'm done. Thank you. >> Zack. >> Zack. >> Yeah. So, we have um not having a license, the permit you need, uh no source of records, meaning no paperwork from where you got it. >> Um improper caging requirements, uh unsanitary conditions, uh and no dig barrier. So, that's one of the digging breeds, a digging animal. So, you to prevent it from digging out and getting to the neighbors and doing things like that. That's >> Well, we have I I have a foot down of the chicken wire. >> Uh chicken wire does not count. >> Okay. >> So, yeah, chicken wire actually. Yeah, it doesn't count. And then 18 gauge isn't big enough gauge. And >> okay, >> few other things. >> You mind your car? >> You're good, man. Yeah. Yeah. So, I got to write all this stuff up now. >> Um, which is going to take a little bit of time. So, I mean, you're welcome to hang out here. You're welcome to hang out inside. Whatever you want to do. >> What my parents can come over and I kind of want to >> they're going to all freak out. So, how how long do you think it would >> I'm going to go with at least I'll put it on the long side at 20 minutes. >> Oh, so yeah. I don't know. >> No, they'll be at seven. So, it's fine. I'll see if I can get it done before that has a week card. So, if anything, I'll just meet him down there. >> Yeah. Yeah, I'll see if >> I meet him down there. >> Yeah, I'll see. Let me see if I how quick I can get this done for you. >> I apologize. You know, >> you good, man. I get it. I mean, I see you're trying and stuff. Uh but you know, the certain >> I'd like I'd like to So, can I apply tomorrow for license or >> what's I don't know. I mean, I'm sure >> I should probably call them up directly. >> Yeah, you'd have to talk to licensing and permitting and I think you have to put in like a a request for it and then it takes long, you know, I want I want to do things right, you know. >> Yeah. So, I'm not sure, but yeah. So, I'll end up taking the fox tonight to a rehabilitator and then they'll assess it. >> I already have her out and >> Yeah, I saw I saw. Thank you. And u >> It's crazy cuz like when when you like when you're not there, she's it's a different animal. Oh, I went I just went up to her. She was She was normal. I mean, stop like >> Yeah. All right. Um, like I said, yeah, give me I'll try to knock this out as as quick as I can and then we can get you going. Okay. >> All right. And if you um give me your your your phone number, I can text you my driver list. >> Oh, I'll have I can I have all that now? Yeah. Yeah. I was able to look it up with your name. Thank you. >> Off. >> That baby s or nothing, man. So, >> all right. Well, this is built for real men. I can't reach up. >> Oh, yeah. Let me uh No, it's fine. >> You gonna be all right? Okay. >> So, I'll go over and see what we got here. I'm gonna need to do some separating. >> Um I'll let you hang on that real quick. >> Will they email me copies of this or >> I'm going to give them to you. >> So, yeah. Like I'll go over all this stuff. >> It's a click. Yeah. So, this one will be your copy. >> Oh, sometimes two copies. >> Yeah. They won't let me put like So, if it's a misdemeanor and a a noncriminal fraction, you can't put them on the same thing. All right. >> So, this this is the $55 citation. This is for uh not possessing a class 3 permit. >> Okay. >> Um and I'll let you know. So, by signing this is not an admission of guilt. It's just >> you understand what it's for and that you're going to handle it. >> Um Yep. Next to arrow. And so, you have 30 days to either pay it or contest it in court. That's your choice. Just make sure you do something within that time frame. >> Noncriminal just >> Yeah, this one's noncriminal. $55 citation. These ones you don't have an option. you do have to go to court for um >> it >> and uh again so this is >> same thing >> this is uh >> I didn't date that one >> that's okay and so this is for not having a record of acquisition for getting it and uh did not meet the proper caging requirements on some stuff so again by signing that not admission guilt you understand what it's for >> giving you a copy no it's the same thing and then what I did was uh instead of more misdemeanors I I warnings I appreciate it. >> So, you got one $55 citation, the two criminal charges you got to go to court for, and all the rest I did warning. So, >> yeah, I already talked to my attorney. I guess he's going to do appearance for me. So, >> okay, there you go. So, that's that'll go to the court. And then, uh, this is here. And, um, >> a nice little envelope for that. >> I don't have one. Yeah. >> Feel like I bought a car. >> I don't Yeah, I don't have one. Uh, okay. So, and again, $55 payable by this date to Orange County Orlando courthouse. Um, so either pay it or go to court for that one. This one have to go to court. As of right now, it's scheduled for March 14th, 9:00 a.m. downtown Orlando. Um, what I recommend is either you or your attorney, whatever, go ahead and call. >> Oh, never mind. I'm sorry. I dropped I thought that was that was my number there. Wrong number. >> This is all the court. So, >> sorry about that. >> So, in about a week, you or him, I would call and just see if they rescheduled this court date because sometimes we backed up and they'll push it back. Yeah, >> but most of the time stuff like this, especially since all I do is an NTA, is um it'll be like fines and stuff. >> What is NTA? >> Notice up here. So instead of taking you to jail for this, which we could have, I am just giving you a piece of paper. You get to stay home and then you or your attorney will handle this in court. >> Appreciate it. So >> do you want to just back up your truck? I don't care. >> Yeah. I mean, as long I'm not going to drive over anything like >> No, no. Okay. Okay. Yeah, that's >> Don't hit the building. >> Yeah. >> If you hit the building, hey, >> no. No, I ain't going to hit it, man. Uh so I'll give you these are all your copies. Um, did you have any questions for me about anything? >> No. >> Um, so yeah, like any kind of wildlife basically like aside from what you get at like a normal pet store, there's all kinds of permits, all kinds of caging requirements, all kinds of specific care they need and things like that. >> Um, and if it's something you're interested in, then definitely do your research. >> I do research on monkey cuz it's like >> But >> yeah, that's a whole other ball game. >> Yeah. Um, so it's right >> between the buildings. I see the eyes over there. Yeah, right there. Um, yeah, man. I'll back up and grab it and uh and then we're good. >> 17. >> All right, buddy. Well, it's a girl, right? What What was uh >> Swiper? >> Swiper. Yeah. >> Um, so if they let her if they want to send her to one, that way it's easier for her, less stressed. She knows the word kennel concrete. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> She knows sit and she knows door matters. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> So, if there's an open door, she'll sit at the Gotcha. Okay. Um, yeah. And then I'll talk to them and then uh uh I guess once they're done, I can get this cage back to you and go from there. >> Yeah. Tell them it's donation. >> I don't know that. Uh >> if not, just you want my phone number? >> I say I got I got all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So if you want, you can just put on my property right there. You don't have to come down. >> Okay, cool. Yeah, we'll we'll figure that out cuz this is a real nice cage, man. So I don't >> The only thing that they're not good for dogs. >> Oh, because of the front or something. Well, it's this lacks like this is not he's not gonna my buddy he's not gonna he's not going to push out to the point of like >> try it's not really >> but like when you have them like this is nice >> I don't know if you Oh this is perfect like remind me of a gunner. >> Yeah. >> But um we have Belgium Malaws though they'll >> they'll break right through that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So it's like it's like one of those things that it's and it's like you did all your homework but you didn't turn it in >> pretty much. We bought it for a dog and then I was like no it's not going to >> a cut cut the mustard. All right, man. I appreciate your time and uh and and how you were, man. >> Yeah. Yeah. No worries, man. I appreciate how how you were tonight. It's not always that easy when I got to deal with people. So, >> I know >> you made you made it easy, man. >> I'm I'm going to come back to her. I'm going to get my license tomorrow and get get everything settled, you know. >> So, yeah. I'll be I'll be quite frank with you, man. I once I take her there uh they might release her to the wild. >> She So what I was told she's never been >> doesn't matter. So So that's why I'm saying I know you kind of are interested in that. And >> so she's going to a nice farm. Just don't make me cry tonight. >> Yeah. So Oh no, no, no, no. I'm not talking about dying or anything like that. >> No, I'm saying release. She's released. >> So like they'll go to a re You think so? >> Yeah. And she's never so according to the person that gave her to me, she's never been. >> So the person you got her from, I mean, honestly, was that a breeder or do you were there? >> We were we were at a a place together. And >> do you have like their info so I can look them up? >> I couldn't find it then. So >> Okay. >> Um, >> if you could I mean just out of curiosity like are they friends of yours or they just random people? >> We were all just hanging out >> and they were like, "Hey." >> Yeah. >> We got this. So, did they say they got it from the wild or they said >> it's a It was tame. >> Well, I'm asking, did they happen to tell you like we got this from the wild or we we raised it or they didn't tell you how they got it? >> I don't remember. It was >> That's okay. I mean, it's nothing against you. This is just me trying to find out. >> Yeah. No. >> Um Okay. I mean, yeah. Let me give you my card, man. And if you do find stuff and just shoot me a text, that'd be cool. That way I can kind of see if they're >> You've never been stuck in this thing. >> You'd be surprised. The four-wheel drive just went out and I got stuck before that. No. So, when it's working, I'm good. When it ain't working, yeah, I've been stuck. And thankfully, I had that winch on there and got me out. All right, man. >> Cool, man. Have a good night, sir. I'll get out of here. All right, we're good. In the end, Mark was charged with being in possession of a class one or class 2 wildlife without a permit and receiving wildlife requiring a license for possession from an unlicensed entity. He later pled no contest to the possession charge and was sentenced to 6 months of probation with the option of early termination. During the probationary period, he was not permitted to have any exotic pets and had to complete 25 hours of community service. A few months later, his probation was terminated. He was also ordered to pay $293 in cost and fines for this case. Mark was also cited for being in possession of a class 2 wildlife without a license. Mark was later cited for failing to remove excretita from private property and interference with animal service representatives after refusing to allow animal services to see the living conditions of the dogs. He ultimately entered a payment plan for the cases. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to Arrest Cam. As always, thanks for watching. >> [music]
