A Maryland natural resource officer was patrolling Roaring Point Park when he observed people walking in his direction with flashlights. Have a good night. >> In the end, the suspect was found to be in possession of 26 female crabs, 40 undersized male crabs, and a 5-in stripe bass. In the state of Maryland, minimum size limits of male crabs changes throughout the year. At the time of this interaction, the crab had a minimum size limit of 5 in measured from tip to tip. At the time of this encounter, there was a slot limit of 19 to 24 in, making his stripe bass 14 in under the minimum slot size. He was charged with being in possession of over 20 female crabs, possession of male hard crabs under 5 in, and possession of an undersized stripe bass during the early summer season. All seized crabs and the striped bass were returned to the water. Unfortunately, we are unable to locate the court records associated with this case, but he was likely ordered to pay fines from this encounter.
