An officer with the Missouri Department of Conservation was patrolling the Fountain Grove Conservation Area. This area has an online or in person brochure available that outlines the requirement for daily hunting tags. As he was patrolling, he spotted a turkey hunter in a truck and made contact. >> doing? All right, I reckon. Is it just you? Yeah. I got you. What's your name? Got you. All righty. You have any luck this morning? No. No? No, no. The bus started my day a bunch hollow. Oh, yeah? You hear anything? Couple of gobbles off in the distance, but then other hunters were just pushing them. Oh, yeah. That's how it goes on public ground, it always seems. >> Last year I had pretty good luck out here. Yeah. I mean Nothing. Nothing? Nothing. I'm just driving around trying to find something maybe before our time's up. I got you. Do you have your uh permit on you? I also got my service here. Oh, come on. You hear anything out here while you were out here? Uh I heard one gunshot. But that was like when I first got here. Okay, I got you. What was that about, like 9:00, 8:30? Mm, probably closer to 9:00. I got you. And do you have your uh green card with you, or white card, or whatever it is? >> White card. White card? For what? For hunting on Fountain Grove. Oh, I didn't know I needed one. Yes, yes, so For bow hunting? For for hunting anything on Fountain Grove. >> Really? So, since this is a duck park you got to go sign in, and you got to write your name at the office, and you got to get yourself a white card. >> Where's that at? Up So, at the Fountain Grove, the main office. So, if you come all the way back down this road and get back on W, and it curves And it turns off >> And it turns off to the right, you go down there. There's going to be a building off your right, that's the duck draw room, and then there's going to be like a maintenance building right there with a couple garage doors. And there's >> roads are stacked up. Yeah, uh I think so. Here, I'll just pull it up on my OnX unless you look at the building. I've got OnX. I didn't know I needed a white card. >> Yes, you do. Yep. Yep. Behind anything you need one. So, if you're coming So, here's the WW or whatever it is. W. So, you make a right on W. That takes you in. So, here's the offices, right? So, you're This is the duck draw building. But, if you come down here, so this is the maintenance building. There's a door on the side right here that you can walk in. It's always unlocked. It has all the cards. It has area information. There's also a sign-in sheet. You got to sign your name and you got to get that white card. And then when you're done hunting, you got to turn that white card back in. Oh, really? Every day. Huh. No, that's nice to know. Yeah. Do you have your shotgun and stuff with you? >> my bow with me. Oh, bow. Oh, yeah. You got to Your bow hunting. That's right. You said that. Have you How How long have you hunted here at Fountain? Uh this is my second year hunting. We fish here quite a bit. I got you. Yeah, so you don't need it for fishing. Um but uh you definitely do need it for uh for for hunting. Um yeah, do you have Do you mind if I just look at your broadhead? I'm just curious what you're shooting with these things. >> two different ones in there. We can take them out. >> Oh, yeah. Which one do you like to use? I've always wanted to turkey hunt with a bow. I've never done it yet. >> Well, I've got my bow. I've I've never shot one with a bow. This is a swacker. I've had real good luck with those. Yeah. Two inch >> one two inch that flips out pretty good on it? When it hits, it'll come out and then the So, are you aiming at the wing and the point of the wing or you aiming at base of neck with it? >> Vitals. Vitals. I got you. This is a new one this year. I don't know if you've heard of them. They're center nasty. Yeah. They're stupid sharp. I can see that. >> They're German steel. They're also about $65 for two of them. >> I got you. Uh they're called Beast. I got you. Yeah. That thing Yeah, it looks pretty nasty. Yeah, they It comes It comes with two Band-Aids and then like these little finger condoms that you got to put them them. Set it back. Just to get them. >> [laughter] >> Oh, that's bad. I seen them at the White Tail Classic this year. I went to the White Tail Classic this year. Oh, yeah. Yeah. They had them up there and I was like, well, I'll get them. >> See, a lot of people that turkey hunt with them use those like what are they like the guillotines or something like that? And they're so freaking long, but man, if you barely nick it, it like cuts their head clean off. >> It does and then but my problem is the turkey bobs its head so freaking much. I'm going to miss it by 2 in and I'm going to would That's what I would be worried about, too. >> I'm just aiming for vital. >> Yep. Yep. Yep. Anyway, uh do you have a driver's license on you? And you didn't bring a shotgun to hunt at all in case you decided to throw the bow in the ditch? No. [laughter] They're too much money sitting there. Way too much money sitting there. Yep. Okay. Hey, uh give me a couple seconds with you. You ain't got any warrants or anything, do you? I'm not aware of. Yeah, so since you don't have a white card, um obviously you got to sign in and have it. It's not a major violation, but I probably am going to cite you on that today. Like I said, it's nothing major, but it's something that we got to do to sign in. >> care of that at? Um so it'll be through Linn County. Um so it can all be done through CaseNet stuff like that online. >> do it like online and just pay it online? >> I'll explain that after I get done with it, but we're going to I'm going to run you real quick and then we'll uh like I said, you've given me no trouble, but just with the amount of people we hunt that hunt out here, it's just something that's got to be taken care of, okay? >> didn't know that either. >> It says it in the regulations and everything when you look at it, you got to sign in at these spots. So, anyway, I'll be right back with you. You okay? You don't have any other weapons or anything in the vehicle, do you? Just the bow? Just a couple knives. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, if you don't mind just hang out right there for me and I'll be right back with you. I knew duck hunters and stuff had special regulations, but I wasn't aware of deer and turkey were. Yep. Okay. Get this over with real quick so that way we can get on our way. All right, so pretty much here, the ticket I got for taker attempt to take wildlife in violation of department area rules and regs, no daily permit. Okay. Um, so that's the charge code for the court system. All this information is your information I pulled off your driver's license and what you told me. I got you today on 421 on Pryor Drive on Fountain Grove Conservation Area at 11:00. Um, I I did give you a court date in case you do want to go to court cuz it's your right to go to court. That's at 1:00 on the 17th of June in Linn County at the Linneus County Courthouse. Well, Linn County Courthouse in Linneus. Um, this isn't an admission of guilt. This is just uh explaining this is just you acknowledging that you understand what I'm saying that you'll get it taken care of. So, if you sign by the X down there for me. And then I will get you your copies and then I can explain it to you real quick how you can get it taken care of. So, this is your copy right here. So, most of the time, I'd say nine times out of 10, this will be the number. So, if you want to look up my case number on Casenet. You know how Casenet works? Uh, I've been on it once or twice. >> Okay, so this is So, if you go to Casenet, you can either do a litigant name search and just type your name in with the year of the violation, so 2025, or you can do case number search and type that number in. Um, this explains it a little more in depth on how to get on Casenet. Um, if you have any questions about your ticket you can call me, but there's not much I can do past this point, obviously, because now it's on the court and how they want to handle it. So, you can always call the courthouse, ask for more information, and then they can line you out that way. I think there's a way you can mail or pay by mail in, but with all of our cases, usually you can just pay online and get it taken care of online. >> do you use for that? >> Uh, so it'll be mocourts.net. Yep, the Yep, courts.mo.casenet. So, I always just type in like when I look at Case Net I just type in Missouri Case Net and it pulls it right up. And then then you'll see litigant name search and then like another one and then it'll say case number. So, if you just click case number, type your name in, should be able to come in. >> Okay. Give me 2 weeks and give the court another 2 weeks. I usually tell people give us 4 weeks and your information should be on there and So, the earliest the earliest it'll happen will be 2 weeks. If they're if they're pretty quick on putting it on after I send it to them, then like I said, I'll probably have your stuff in by the end of this week. It is turkey season, so I might get busy inside the turkey so but I'd say 4 weeks and you should be good. If you don't see it pop up on Case Net by like middle of June before this happens, you might want to start making some phone calls cuz you never know. I'd hate for a warrant to come out just cuz someone misplaced some information. Yep, yep and then you like I said you can just go to the Linn County the Linn County Courthouse and whatever extension to the prosecutor office and they should be able to or the county court and they should be able to help you out. So, Just check it after turkey season and then that should be about the If you want I can run down there with you and I can show you where to check in so that way if you want to come back out here tomorrow or something or in the future then you'll know how to go in. Your driver's license. There's that for you. I better go with you on that. I I knew duck hunters and all them had special regulations but I wasn't Yeah, yeah. Again, thanks for the patience. Sorry it took me so long. Now, I mean I should have known I guess. I got the book at home but If you're if you're just out scouting like say you don't have a bow in your truck or a shotgun in your truck and you're just out scouting or out mushroom hunting, it's not a big deal but obviously you were trying to kill a turkey and you're trying to kill a turkey, right? Now, if you would have a turkey could have I taken and you killed one and I came up and checked you and you didn't have that permit, could I take that turkey from you? Yes, and we don't want that, obviously. So, No, that's too much work [laughter] again. That's right. That's right. So, anyway, uh yeah, I'll meet you down there if you want to just follow me down there and I can show you where it's at. So, >> Yep, can do that. In the end, the hunter was charged with taking or attempting to take or possess wildlife in violation of department area rules and regulations. He pled guilty to the charge and was ordered to pay $24.50 in costs and fines. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to ArrestCam.
