Officers with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department were on an overnight patrol along Rowlet Creek when they spotted a group of individuals with cast nets and black trash bags. As the group prepared to leave, the officers made contact. >> Okay. Each individual was charged with one count of fishing without a license and 24 counts of taking fish by illegal means for using a cast net to catch them. In Texas, taking fish by illegal method typically carries a $500 fine, and the fishing without a license charges around $150. The state also went after restitution, which is typically $50 per white bass. Unfortunately, this county does not have publicly available records. So, we are unable to determine the exact outcome of their cases based on the fact that they had over 200 illegal fish, lied about not having nets, and did not have fishing licenses.
