I promise you >> that baby owes his life to a stranger who called 911 and deputies who refused to let her near him again until he was safe. She proved in under 20 minutes that her purse, her pride, and her freedom mattered more than the child she almost killed through pure neglect. >> Put the hair behind my hair. >> No, >> I can't. >> You may have not been told this before, but no. Can you get my bracelet right there? That's for my promo. >> Yeah, I'll get that. >> Put it on my wrist. We're going to sit over there. Ready? We're going to sit over there. >> I'm fine, but please move my hair from my face right now. Please move my hair. >> Uh, you got to blow my hair. Where's my baby? >> Yeah. Yeah, I'll get >> If she's going to go over, let her go, right? Got to take her there. >> Where's my baby? Where's my baby? >> Where's my face? >> Where? >> Right there. >> I'm not going to bite anybody, but I'm going to say one thing. The officer then spoke with the 911 caller who had witnessed the entire incident. >> Um, so, uh, I know that we were going to speak, but we didn't. Can you go ahead and tell me what you observed and the reason why you called us out here today? >> Yes. So, at about 4:50, 5:00, I was going on a walk in the neighborhood. I noticed a silver SUV coming in from the resident side of the gate. And as they came through the gate, they accelerated way above the the 15 mph speed limit. Um kind of looked the other way as she was coming around the curve. And then I hear tires squealing as she's coming around the the turn over here. Um, didn't see any kids necessarily, but I heard kids like imitating the sound of her car squealing and >> children as in like outside in the roadway. >> Children outside. I couldn't tell tell you where they were at. >> Okay. >> Um, and again, didn't really think much of it. Just thought >> um, so I thought it was odd that the hazards were still on and nobody left the car. >> Mhm. So, I figured I'd call non-emergency services and I thought she was having a medical episode like could have had a seizure or something. >> And you saw her in the vehicle? >> Yes. >> Okay. And you were sure on the time of when you walked into the house it was 5ish? >> Yeah. Approximately a little past 5. And then when you went when you went to go leave to Sprouts, it was 6:00 p.m. >> I can tell you real quick. >> Um, so my wife sent me a little list. Okay. So, it was closer to 5:45 when I left. >> Okay. 5:45 when >> as opposed to 600. >> And when you called, you were still under the assumption that the vehicle was there, not where it is now. >> Correct. >> Okay. And you didn't see the vehicle get to where it's at there? >> No. >> Okay. Did you see anyone else with the vehicle? Was there any other ve other than the driver? >> I I just saw a woman in the driver's seat. >> And you saw the woman in the driver seat >> when she initially parked? Yes. >> Did you see what she looked like? >> She had dark hair. >> Dark hair. >> Um I don't know if I would say white, but kind of like tanner skin. >> Okay. >> Um but it was kind of hard to see through the car. Um, >> did you see any other occupants in the vehicle? >> I could only see her. I didn't really want to look in the car. God forbid there was something going on. Um, so when I was at when I was heading to Sprouts, I called uh non-emergency services and just recommended maybe, you know, an EMT or like fire rescue can come out and check on her cuz it's just not normal to sit in your car with your hazards. A mother's job is to keep her child safe, but she chose blackout drunk in a hot car with her baby on the floorboard instead. Deputies didn't just make an arrest that day. They saved a life she was too wasted to protect. Some people don't deserve the title mom. Monica V. Pagan was charged with child neglect, child abuse, four counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. She was later released from the Palm Beach County Jail on $9,000 bond.
