Okay. >> You have the right to remain silent having these rights in mind. Do you wish to talk to us? >> I don't know what I did wrong. I'll talk to you. Yeah. Okay. >> All right. >> What's your name, sir? >> Zay. >> Zayn. >> Yes, sir. Okay, I'm officer Peter Bbergo. Like I said, we're FWC, so um you know, we're got people out here digging in the woods, so we're coming to check out and see what's going on. >> Okay. >> All right. Where where you guys park at? >> Um down on the trail there. >> All right. Um what do you what do you guys finding? >> Geod, all kind of stuff. >> What what's other kind of stuff? >> There's geodess, fossils, uh deer antlers, teeth. Um uh quartz cris not quartz crystal quartz a gate >> stones >> quartzate. >> Okay. What's What's quartz gate? >> Like a type of rock or something. >> Yeah. >> Looks like looks like a geode when you crack it open. Looks like a geode inside. Outside it's like a rock. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um before we ask you any questions about anything, this is part of our policy. All right. Um, you have the right to remain silent. Any statement you make, do you understand each of these rights? >> Yes. >> And having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to us? >> Um, I don't know. I don't know. Honestly, I don't I've never like been >> No, I got you. >> So, I don't know. >> It's just part of our policy. We have to ask before we talk to you. You know what I'm saying? So, >> okay. Um, just Yeah. I mean, and I can like You said I have the right to >> Absolutely. Okay. Yeah. >> Um, >> so you guys are from Mazarki Town? >> Yeah, Missouri town. >> Okay. Um, where'd y'all park at >> on the trail? Look, >> I'm assuming you guys drove in here and didn't walk. >> Yeah. Not. We walked about probably 3/4 of a mile south east from here from this point. So, we walked up north. >> What's your guys' relation? >> We're We've been together. We're basically domestic partners. We've been together for 10 years. >> I understand. Um and there's nobody else out here >> that you know of. Okay. Um >> do you know why we're here? Um probably because the there um the people called that we were out here. I don't know >> who who would have called. >> I don't know. There's people that walk the trails. We walk the trail. We used to walk the trails all the time. Yeah. >> And then um uh we came across this area and then we started started here. >> What was appealing to you about it? >> Um appealing? >> Mhm. Or what mean what what made you start digging here? >> Because like the atmosphere like the dense woods, the you could just tell that it's like old growth. >> It's gorgeous out here. Yeah, >> it's what? >> It's gorgeous out here. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Um >> it is. It's just It's like old forest. You could tell it's like And I I actually after we came here for the first time, >> I looked up online like the history of the sink and like the old like myths around Lizzy Hart and stuff like that. So, >> yeah. Yeah, absolutely. So, do you know what property this is? >> Isn't it Lizzy Hart? >> This This section is Lizzy Hartsync, but do you know you you were speaking about the trails and stuff like that? Do you know what property this is as a whole? >> Yeah, citrus citrus citrus >> wildlife management area. >> Yeah, citrus citrus. >> Um, >> about how many times have y'all been out here? um a handful probably like two or three times maybe right here. >> Me personally, I don't come out all the time because I have my own son at home and my older daughter probably like I've been here like three times. >> Three, >> I think two or three times. Me personally >> to this specific one? >> Yes. This right here? >> Yeah. Yeah. Where where are the other ones that you know that you've gone to? >> Other ones? What? >> The other spots where you guys dig? just here and right here. But that's where we >> So nowhere else on the property? >> No, we have we I took like a shovel but probably dug like as big as my foot south of here but not not digging like this >> like this. Okay. Um those are your guys' shovels and sifter. >> Um this uh the my shovels and stuff is right here. I don't want to speak for him, but my stuff is >> right. Um, so that's your shovel. Um, >> um, my hand shovel. I have a hand shovel, a hand rake, and um, >> like yard slippers. >> I gota long shovel is not mine. It's >> somebody else's. >> Yeah. >> Who else normally comes out here with you guys? >> Um, I don't I don't Nobody comes out here with us. I mean, I don't want to >> There's people There's like two people that walked up to us and started talking to us last time we were here, but that's it. I don't >> About how long ago was that? >> Um, before Christmas. I know it was before Christmas. Probably like like a week before Christmas maybe. Or maybe direct like right right in that week that there was two men >> when that's Justin. Is that what you said? What What's his name? >> Zayn. >> Zayn. When did you and uh Zayn I mean, did you guys sleep at the same house last night and then you decided to come here today? >> We live together. >> Okay. You live together. >> We have children together. >> Gotcha. Together. >> Um so the other two or three individuals that >> I don't know if they come out here. I don't know them like that. They literally walked up on us and started talking to us like we don't >> Well, >> I don't know them. >> A few weeks ago, who was who was digging in the hole? I we when we walked up here today, he actually said, "Somebody's been here." >> And I was like, "Really? How can you tell?" He's like, "I could tell somebody's been here. There's stuff all out. The sifter a sifter's pulled out. The shovels are pulled out." He just >> knew someone had been here. >> I don't know who was out here, though. >> Yeah. Um, have your kids ever been out here? >> Um, not digging. We've been to the caves with them. >> But have they ever been right here? >> No, never. >> Why were their kids out here? >> Um, yeah. Really? >> Yeah. So, um, >> never my kids. >> I don't know for sure, but if they were here, I mean, now is the time to >> tell me. Yeah. Yeah. Are they little kids? >> They wouldn't. Yeah. My son's just turned six. He There's no way he would sit down and be like, >> "Oh, he wouldn't do that. He's very rambunctious." So, and my older daughter, she's in high school care about. She won't even go in the woods. >> Gotcha. >> Um, what are you guys looking for? um fossils or pottery. Found some pottery, just stuff like that. >> Any arrowheads or anything? >> Um I found like worked shirt, but no whole arrow heads or anything like that. I just >> It's all in that bag right there. >> Um we just were hiking a couple weeks ago. We came through and seen all this. And we start we came here and stopped and started looking looking around to see what and we seen big old chunks of like uh quartz core right there. Big old rock right there. and we started digging. It's not We didn't do all this. We've just been digging. >> Okay. All right. What do you have? What do you have around here? Any any stuff that you found today? >> Um just in that bag right there. >> Okay. >> I got I got a medical marijuana card. I got my bottle. Mr. Zayn, you said that you didn't start this, right? No, sir. >> So, these tools, where did they come from? Um, >> they've been here since me and her got here. All the stuff has been here. >> Okay. How many times have you come here to visit? >> Um, well, I work all the week and me and my lady don't ever have no time off from the kids. So, we come out here hiking on the weekends. So, probably the past three weekends. >> Okay. >> Two week three. This place would be a third weekend we came out here. >> Okay, got it. What's the coolest thing you found so far? >> Um, uh, agotized coral with like Drewzy in it. Looks like diamonds. >> What is that? Like diamonds? >> It looks like diamonds. >> You have a picture of it. >> No. >> That sounds neat. >> It's pretty cool. >> Where Where else do you dig? Because it sounds like you got >> No, >> you know some knowledge about this stuff. >> No, it's the only spot. We eventually were walking back here because of we heard that Lizzie R has songs like Cory's and that's where you find it all. That's the only place you can find it is Cory's. So that's why we started hiking these trails looking for like rock croppings like this. >> Got you. >> Like this, like this. >> So where did you find the information about coming? >> Not not not like obviously this spot, but this this area >> Dan's cave. >> Okay. >> People took pictures and we seen like the rocks that we were thinking, damn, we should probably go look there because we can definitely find it. So, was that on like um our website FWC or was that on like um >> um State Forest? >> Well, Citrus Track or not Citrus Track. No, it was uh she was looking up Dam's Cave like areas to hike and she came across Dam's Cave and then we're looking through like the reviews and pictures and stuff and then we started seeing in the pictures like rock outcroppings on certain areas and then people said that's towards Lizzy Hart or Lizzy Sink area and we sincerely started coming here looking. >> Okay. Anyone else come will you guys shelter? >> Just it's what we have to get away from our kids. >> Yeah. >> Break from working. >> Got you. What do you do? >> No. Mechanic. >> It's just Zane Z. >> Okay. >> What's the problem? I still don't know. You're just not allowed to be digging. >> So you I mean you're in you're in a state forest. >> Yeah. >> I mean you you've looked up the area. You know >> literally everybody that comes by here will stop and look and pick up rocks and pull [ __ ] over and scrape around. Literally everybody that comes through here and see they're doing the same thing. Not saying it's right. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but >> Yeah. Well, I mean, you got a pretty good setup going on here. You know what I mean? >> Well, this isn't my set, but I understand what you're saying. >> You're using it. It's your setup. You know what I mean? >> So, my setup, I understand, >> Zane, what what's your middle name? Yeah. So, I mean, it's small game season. People are out here hunting. People do hike out here. digging excavation usually isn't one of the things that happens if that kind of makes any sense to you. You know what I mean? Like >> saying yeah I mean we don't see people down here digging like this but we didn't we just seen this from up there but we came and investigated all this and then that's when we were like damn there's probably >> all kinds of stuff here. >> Yeah. >> That little tool there. Yeah. There was that shovel, >> that rake and that sifter. >> That sho That shovel over there looks new. that there was only one trail over there. Are you guys are you guys collectors or do you sell it? >> Collectors. >> Collect it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Because we we have property down in Zertown and we bounced up on our property. So yeah, we're Yeah, we have we collect. >> So I'm sure you have a lot of pictures in your phone of what you guys have found here. >> Um not in my phone. I probably only have one >> one picture. But you do have a picture of something you found here. >> Oh, here. Found here. Um >> no. Most people that collect >> probably not. I probably don't have any pictures of what I found here. Just from our yard. >> Those people, are they with you? >> No, we're not. Me and her, him, we're not here with anybody. It's just us. >> Um, so the pieces that you found today are in the bag. Are any pieces that you found previously in the bag? >> No. >> Where are those pieces at your house? Um, yeah, but most of them are probably like spread out in the yard or because they're not like significant >> at your house though. >> Yeah. >> They're just like ch. >> So, what do you normally do with them once you take them back to the house? Um, if they're not if it's not like a half of a knife or something, we'll just uh clean them off and put them like in the front area or in a box or just not it's not anything to display. >> Have you found any display pieces >> here? >> Yeah. >> Um, no, just just a couple my knife. I found I found a knife. I think it's a knife. I'm not 100% sure. M >> I just started researching like in depth about like specific pieces and stuff like that. So I I'm pretty sure it's a knife, but you don't you really don't know. Everybody has their own opinions. >> Where do you find most of your display pieces? >> Um we found some on our property. I found some in uh a river the I think it was off of the with the Cuchi River. It was a creek off of that river. But um yeah, and then he bought some at the at the swampama in Webster. The Webster swamp swamp. He bought like a huge box. >> Yeah. >> And you guys haven't ever sold there or anything? >> Never >> sold pieces. Just collect. >> I've never sold anything. >> That's like my stuff. >> No, I would never. >> I got you. Um >> Is there anything in a truck? >> No, I don't think so. >> No. All right. Who drove here? >> I did. >> Do you have a driver's license? It's in the No, >> all my stuff's legit. We're legit. >> No, no. I'm just making sure. >> Yeah. No, legit. I didn't know this was this big of a deal. >> You don't know how many times I talk to somebody and they're like, "Yeah, my license is in the car." There you know citizens rather than What's the What's the idea behind the palms? >> We didn't do that. Say we literally just This is like the third time we've been here. I know you probably hear that all the time. >> Yeah. I mean, but some of these are brand new cut. >> Um I have no idea. >> I mean, if you cut one, you cut one. But >> I didn't cut none of this. Yeah, we all heard. We didn't cut none of this. I guarantee you if you come back out here tomorrow, the next day, you'll probably find whoever. >> So, like this one that's brand new cut. >> Yeah. I didn't do none of that. None of this. I didn't cut nothing. I don't have nothing to cut with. I don't have a knife. I don't have nothing. >> Why is it such a big problem in the middle of I'm not being a small honest? It's so it's it's state lands, public lands. Um, so there's protections on the property and that's, you know, >> that's just what it is. >> I mean, this is destruction, >> you know what I mean? >> Excavation, these things, you know, people can get permits to do stuff. >> How do you do that? >> But it's through the through the Forest Service, but I don't ever hear of them issuing permits for >> any type of excavation at all. >> What's the permits for? They do like they do group events, anything like that, >> hiking and rides and things like that. I mean, >> technically they could issue one, but they don't. >> I got you. >> Cuz I mean, you know, there's there's his, you know, historical things here that they're trying to keep protected as well. >> Who cut the palm frrons? Um, I've cut a couple because I was going to put my backpack down on it. It's actually right here, >> but I put my backpack hanging from here instead >> cuz I didn't want to have like spiders in my backpack or anything. >> Why do you guys stick them in the ground like that? >> Um, because there's a big thing of sand there. >> Huh? >> Um, I cut I'm not going to speak anything for him. I don't know. I cut this one for myself for to put my um backpack on, but >> it's to hide the pile of sand. >> Um I'm assuming gap, but there's a It's pretty >> pretty big. >> Yeah, I'm sure. Yeah, he said it wasn't him. That's not him. The shovels and everything right here. This brand new. >> That's brand new. Yeah, >> this is brand new. >> Pretty sure. Yeah. That was good. Zane, you come up here for a minute, bud. >> Brandon, I don't know. >> What do you do for a living? You You run heavy equipment >> work on them. >> Where at? >> Mobile. >> Yeah. my buddy >> for cats stuff >> anything. >> Where's town? Is that what county is that? >> Town or town. I don't know. >> That's That's in Orlando County. >> Yes. Y'all ain't too far from here. Um >> Yeah. So, I'm going to tell you just like I talked to Amanda over there. All right. Um your honesty goes a long way with us. Obviously, we're not here for no reason. All right. I think you and I both know why we have five officers out here. You know that we don't normally just walk around the woods like this. So, um can you tell me why you think we're here? >> Obviously, cuz we're digging. >> Yeah. Um what are you guys looking for? >> Quartz, crystal, agotized coral, um geodess, uh >> anything of that nature. Does it hold value or what's the I just I'm speaking with arrogance or ignorance. I don't know. >> I got you. Just personal interest. >> Just you guys collect. >> Yeah. We don't sell nothing or nothing like that. They probably wouldn't be able to sell nothing. >> Um have you guys ever went to an artifact buy and sell? >> Okay. Um that's a little bit different than what Amanda's told me. So again, >> I've never been to no artifact show. Never been to no buy and sell nothing. Never bought nothing. Never sold nothing. >> Not over in Webster. Never. >> We I we went to Webster to a flea market and stuff, but I never sold nothing at a booth. I never bought nothing there. >> You never You never bought anything? >> No. Okay. >> Look. >> Yeah. >> I never bought nothing. >> Yeah. Um what do you guys normally do with it? >> What do you mean >> with what what you find? >> Just collect if you find anything. >> I mean, do you like case it up at the house like uh or >> I mean like when I collect stuff, you know, you know, I try to just put it on display. You know what I mean? >> We don't even have no money to do nothing. This is what we do for fun. We hike and stuff like that. We don't got no I don't just I don't have no patience or nothing like that. >> They're more than welcome to come to my house and look at >> But what I'm saying But what I'm saying is like what what do you do with it? Because obviously you guys have stuff >> just collected. It's >> Do you have like a bucket of it at the house or you know? >> No, not really. But we got a little bit of it at the house. But >> I'm just asking how you store it at the house. >> I understand. But I mean it's just how >> you don't have anything at the house. All right. You guys live together >> decency. >> Okay. >> Camera camera. Anything I say right now held against me in the court of law. That's why. You know what I'm saying? It is what it is. I understand why. >> I'm not trying to be a [ __ ] bro. But you guys got to do your investigation. I'm not going to I'm not an [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> I completely levelheaded. You know what I'm saying? But >> obviously you guys are out here because we're do we're obviously doing something against the law. So I'm not gonna You know what I'm saying? That's >> I got I got you, man. That's on you guys. >> Yeah. Um, how do you guys [ __ ] I'm really not. >> No, no, no, no. Zane, I I got you, man. Trust me. I've dealt with what you're speaking of and >> I'm not claiming that you're like that at all. >> I just know if I say something, it could be used against the court of law and I'm not I didn't >> I understand. We're just trying to give We're trying to look at the big the big picture here because all we know is that there's a hole in the ground. >> You know, >> be honest with you, dude. If you leave that camera up a little bit longer, you might see somebody else that come out here that's done most of this. You might find them somebody to come out here to get their tools. You know what I'm saying? That's You guys probably will leave it up. You know what I'm saying? But keep doing your investigation. You'll probably see. We really dug this. >> Who else has been out here? >> I don't have no friends like that. So, we don't just me and her. That's it. We get away from our kids. This is how we do it. We come out here, relax, bowl steam off. >> Have your kids ever been here? >> Um >> has not to the caves with us when we first came. >> Is that the six-year-old? She said, that's the six-year-old. Yeah, she's been to the cave with us. >> Okay. But he's never came out. >> That's what she said. She said he wouldn't have the attention to sit here and chill. >> We try to get away out here to get away. >> So just one has one kid has been here. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Sh. She don't she ain't she she stays in their bedroom. >> Gotcha. So do you know what other kids were here? Because we we have some witnesses. >> Kids? >> Yeah. Like young. >> All I have is a six-year-old. I don't know if who else comes out here, but all I have is a six-year-old. I have kids in Coco with another lady. But kids I have over here. We've been together almost 10 years. Kids I have here is Kota Shia and Jonah. He lives with his dad on holiday. But no, they've never He's 17, she's 15. They never came out here. >> Got it. >> They won't come out here. They're not them kind of kids. >> They like to be active coming out. >> Um >> what makes you guys again ignorant? What? Like what makes you guys pick right here? What made us pick this is my old my lady was doing research online and um we were looking at the caves and we brought that's what we were looking at somewhere to go to bring COD. We found the caves. Somebody talking online on Facebook about caves >> and then in the pictures we were looking and then they post they don't just post pictures of the caves, right? They post pictures of everywhere in the area. And we're looking at the pictures and we seen like these rocks like rock outcroppings in some pictures and we were like >> that people have posted pictures of like I bet you there's stuff geodess quartz crystal because that's where it forms is in these limestone rocks. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I don't know. >> I mean you you guys have the eye for it. I when I see that I don't I don't know what to look for. You know what I mean? >> Do you just how do you uh do you have like a GPS how you found like find to get back in here to this spot? >> No GPS right there. You just have good sense, good woodsmanship. A lot a lot of people don't, man. >> I got you. You just walk over here. >> It's kind of >> I got you. >> Yeah. >> Um All right. Um do you guys have you guys taken pictures of anything you found the last few times you've been out here? She said you've been out here a few times. >> It's not You don't find stuff like that. It's very rare you find like a geode or >> really you find stuff. Yeah. based on >> the pieces we find, we'll go home and I'll like wash them off and look and then because right now it's all covered in dirt. You can't even see it. Yeah. >> If there is any jersey or anything in it, it's dirt's packed on in it. So, we wash them off and that's when you can tell on the thing and we just throw it away or >> Okay. >> throw it out in the yard. >> Um, and obviously, uh, we were out here yesterday. We know that these palm frrons weren't weren't like that and they're fresh cut. So, >> I didn't cut them. >> Huh? >> I didn't. >> No, she cut them all. >> She I didn't see her cutting them either. >> Okay. It's It's on you, too, Zane. And the the palm frrons are brand new. >> I mean, we're not It's pretty obvious that they're >> cut and stuck in the ground around the hole >> to to cover the mound, you know. >> I don't know, bro. >> No. All right. Um, and you don't know the other two guys that have come out here. >> I don't know. Nobody else that comes out. Literally, I don't have a wife or I work and my kids and my wife literally don't have a life. I have no friends. The two friends I do have wouldn't even come out. They're lazy. >> My wife. >> Oh, dude. This is a lot of work. Yeah. This is like working on your day off >> kind of. If you enjoy it, it's not. But >> and you It's your truck, not hers. And you drove the truck in? >> I drove the truck in. It's my truck. >> Okay. Is there anything in the truck that we should know about? >> You can pull me back and look in it if you want to. >> Okay. >> 100%. >> Um >> I'm not trying to hide nothing, bro. Like I sell him. You can go to >> Yeah. The >> go. I'm not trying to hide nothing. The only thing I want to believe that, but you have to understand that we deal with people every day. >> Absolutely. Understand >> the Palmetto thing is >> the Palmetto thing is throwing me off because it's like >> it's a simple it's like not a big deal, >> but you're telling me that it wasn't you guys when I pretty much know it was you guys. kind of goes back to what I was saying earlier, bro, >> with >> not gonna repeat >> incriminating yourself. >> But uh um >> but I mean, you've told me everything else, but the palm frrons, you don't you >> like I don't understand why you think that's a big deal compared to anything else. >> Because obviously people were trying, but you're obviously trying to hide what you're doing there. You know what I'm saying? I don't know. Maybe that's why they did it. I don't know, man. But you can warm up and just touch my truck if you want to. Okay. So, definitely won't be coming back out here, >> obviously. But definitely keep the cameras up. I didn't see them until you got them walked up. >> They're not. >> Oh, okay. >> That's what I'm trying to say to you, too, about >> Huh? Come on, Z. >> They're not mine. >> They're not ours. >> I understand. Got you. I understand. >> Leave them for dear. >> Yeah. Your camera. >> Gotcha. Gotcha. Definitely leave them up. All right. So, All right. So, let me ask you this. >> So, if those were ours and if they're on video mode, >> would it show you guys putting these pom pongs in the ground? >> It won't show. >> Won't show them. Look them. Look at them. They're wireless. >> Look at Check them out. You know what I mean? I'm pretty sure if you leave them up, there's a couple. If you leave them all up, um you'll see who comes and you can come get their ass and ask them. >> But what I'm saying is is those were up yesterday. The palm frrons weren't here. >> Maybe they came last night. >> Okay. But but we're here now. >> So what do you think about that? >> Do you think we know who put the palmettos in the in the ground? Zane. Come on, man. You cut a couple praws. >> Huh? >> Listen, I have no idea. >> I got you, man. >> I have no idea, bro. I'm sorry. I'm not. It is what it is. I'm not trying to >> No. No. You've been cool. I haven't said you. >> I know. I'm just I don't want you to think me not answering your question isn't being asked. >> You've answered a lot of my questions. The only question that you haven't answered is that one, which is in my opinion done. >> Huh? >> I did. I could. >> Okay. >> Ask that now. >> Yes. >> Well, I'm trying to figure out. Were you informed that we let your your daughter and your babysitter and whatnot know? >> Okay. Well, we did. Okay. All right. Your husband was allowed to give them a call um before we transported y'all up here. All right. All right. And uh obviously we've we've been through the stuff that we were doing in the woods, right? But I've done a little bit of digging since I've been here >> and I know that y'all know what y'all were doing. Am I correct in that statement? >> I told the officer what I was doing. That's what I spoke with. >> Uh when when you when we were in the woods when I wasn't with y'all. >> And what was that? >> I told him that I was looking for anything. Um the tools or fossils or rocks. I told him that >> artifacts and stuff. >> I didn't specifically use that word, >> but that's what it is, right? >> Well, some things would be that, but it's not everything, >> right? And what about Miss Amanda's? Do you know hers? >> Well, that's another thing. My phone. >> Yeah, >> they got it. >> I know we do. >> Okay. >> I said they got it. You said that they got my phone numbers out of it. Now, actually, after doing all of the digging that I'm do that I've done, I believe that you're still holding back of it, you've probably utilized that phone during the commission of the felony, and you probably have pictures and location data on your phone that describes and shows where different sites that you've been digging on. So, that phone is going to actually be seized. Um, >> and it'll be taken and put it in the evidence in Crystal River for the time being. >> Um, I'll try to get it downloaded as quick as possible and get it returned. >> All right. >> Yeah. Is that what it's called? >> Yeah. >> I've never even heard of that. >> You've never even heard of that? >> The charge like I didn't even heard of it. I believe you. I'm just saying like what's like like if you get robbery, you get robbery. If you get battery, you get battery. Like I don't know what the charge is. That's what I'm saying. Is it just digging artifacts? >> Basically, they're putting it in layman terms. Yes, sir. >> That's what I'm talking I believe you. You know what I'm saying about statues and stuff like I was about to charge and stuff. I'm trying to figure out how much my bond. >> The bond is $2,500 each. >> So 250 bucks. >> I I guess >> what what I >> Yeah. 10% bail, right? Yes, sir. >> Yeah.
