from a bent track that caused this train to fly off the rails and a head on crash in Warsaw Poland where train accidents are a regular thing to a boneheaded bus driver who thought he could stop a speeding train and much more here are five incredible train moments caught on camera the Polish capital of Warsaw has been through a lot in the past 100 years it was destroyed in World War II after Hitler ordered the entire city raised to the ground over 85% of Warsaw needed to be rebuilt after the war today it is a thriving Metro and home to about 1.8 million people apparently it took Warsaw a little longer to figure out their railroads put it this way 2012 was a bad year to be on a Polish train on May 23rd of 2012 two pass passenger trains wound up on the same track they uh weren't going in the same direction either our train spots the other car up ahead and immediately applies the brakes of course it takes a long time for heavy trains to slow down meanwhile the other train keeps coming it smacks head on into our train leaving a massive crack in the windshield the crash happened only a few months after another head-on collision in southern Poland people rightfully questioned the safety of Polish Railways one crash is a tragic accident two crashes means something is fundamentally wrong with the system in fact a report from the European Railway agency said Poland had the most dangerous railroads in the world with 449 accidents in 2010 [Music] alone pendolino is an Italian family of high-speed tilting trains they can travel up to 155 mph on standard tracks eliminating the need for costly highspeed tracks what makes them special is their ability to tilt when taking turns this reduces centripetal force and ensures a smooth ride for passengers and cargo you can find pendolino or pendulum trains all across the world remember they travel extremely fast on normal tracks you have to be extra careful when approaching a Crossing this polish bus driver didn't get that memo he jeopardized his passengers when he blew through the crossing arms the lights are flashing and the arms are coming down but our bus driver doesn't care he thinks he can beat the train he narrowly clears the first arm but he'll never make the second instead he stops right before the arm leaving the butt of his bus on the train tracks he hops off the bus and realizes his Grievous mistake then he sees the train coming he waves his arms and jumps up and down as frightened passengers Evacuate the bus no matter how hard the conductor tries they'll never stop the train in time the pendolino screams through and destroys the back of the bus luckily everyone made it off the bus unharmed this boneheaded bus driver likely had his license revoked as soon as this video came out Sam rovo and renit are two villages in Northern Poland connected by a single train track the track runs under several Bridges and highways as it moves between both stations on August 17th of 2017 construction on one of those bridges led to another polish train accident a mistake on the job site caused a massive concrete slab to fall on the tracks unfortunately a prosi regional train was heading right for it all seems is normal as we speed down the tracks the Polish back country is quite beautiful isn't it our train comes around a bend and sees something up ahead from here it's hard to tell what it is but as we get closer you can see the dust rising from the giant concrete slab on the tracks the conductor hit the brakes slowing the train enough to prevent a tragic accident the concrete pretty much stops IT dead in its tracks according to the railroad company none of the p passengers or train staff were injured during the [Music] crash trains and railroads are impressive logistical Feats it's amazing how the slightest hiccup can send the whole thing spiraling out of control take this next train accident and the tiny little bend that caused it to derail now we're not sure where or when this accident occurred what's clear is how sensitive trains are it's why tracks are constantly monitored for bumps cracks and bends what begins as a standard trip is about to end in catastrophe look at how small that bend is the conductor would have never seen it at full speed he hits the bend and the train starts sliding a camera in the back shows the ensuing ripple effect it wobbles back and forth before finally flipping over now any number of things can cause that kind of damage but if we had to guess natural wear and tear likely caused the track to deform railroads have to withstand a great deal of vibration it's one of the primary forces that can lead to damaged tracks clearly someone wasn't paying attention when they performed their last maintenance check in the railroad industry a wash out is when a natural disaster erodes the ground around the train track in most cases wash outs occur due to floods from heavy rainstorms but because the track is pretty sturdy it can sometimes support itself with no ground underneath Unfortunately they aren't sturdy enough to support a passing train on September 11th of 2010 a conductor was making a late night trip across the back country he had no idea that mother nature had set a booby trap up ahead between 2000 and 2010 wash outs caused 64 accidents on American railroads federal law mandates that in the event of a flood any affected tracks must be inspected immediately wash outs don't just affect railroads either flood damage can cause severe erosion beneath roads and highways sometimes it's enough to collapse the pavement other times it sets a natural booby trap as seen in this video H is a major Indian city on the banks of the hogi river it is directly west of its sister city Kolkata and is home to roughly 1 million people many Indians rely on the country's massive Railway system to get around it's the fourth largest system in the world with nearly 80 ,000 miles of total track when something goes wrong on the tracks Indian railways rushes someone out to fix it millions of people rely on these trains and need them up and running ASAP unfortunately this conductor thought the problem was fixed and began driving little did he know the maintenance worker was still under the train [Music] [Music] d [Applause] [Music] luckily our maintenance worker could grab the undercarriage and Elevate himself it was a harrowing ride but safer than trying trying to crawl out from underneath as The Story Goes the train stopped shortly after leaving the station something was wrong with the main brakes our worker diagnosed an air pressure issue and began mending the pipes that's when the train started moving again he chocked it up to a simple miscommunication between him and the conductor his buddies outside made enough noise for passengers to pull the chain to stop the train well at least he got the brakes working again if you enjoyed this video and want to see another just like it then
