On May 17th, 2024, undercover officers observed three individuals on a boat hauling in shrimp pots and immediately returning to shore. Adding to it, eyewitnesses reportedly observed the individuals behaving similarly earlier in the day. In the state of Washington, the maximum legal limit for shrimp is 80 per person. As officers with the Department of Fish and Wildlife believe they may be over the limit, they conducted a compliance inspection. So, Scott, we'll have this audio and video recorded. Okay, perfect. I'm going to do the same if you don't mind. Yeah, that's fine. [Music] And I guess I'll start off if that's all right. What do you mean? I'll start off, sir. Okay. Well, no, no, it's really not a competition as No, it's just it's just what I'm going to do, Scott. So, here's the thing. You guys are in possession of too many shrimp. Okay. So, what we have here is uh is we have, like I said, too many shrimp that are here. Um, we're going to go ahead and give you your 80 shrimp a piece, right? So, we'll give you the 240 back. Okay. Um, and then it was Sir Steve, is that correct? Yeah. Yeah. And then, did you have a fishing license or anything or that's I do. It's in my waiters at home. It's in your waiters at home. I mean, I figured you could check on the thing and see that I just bought one. Okay. Sure. Not just I get one in April every year. Got it in April. Okay. And do you remember where you got it from? I get it online. Okay. So I just renew it. Okay. Perfect. Okay. Yeah. We'll do that. So like I said, we got the 280 here for you that we'll give back. Um Scott, like I said, the shrimp, you know, when you get them, okay, you when when you have a pot, you have to count out how many are in that pot before you go take another pot. I understand completely. All right. But we were never given an opportunity to allow you to. And as you look at the vessel here, officers, pot one is in the back. Pot two is here. Pot three is here. Pot four is the one that had the most shrimp that we annotized with a photograph and timestamp. FYI. So with what you just said, under our limit. Under our limit. Under our limit. This put us over our limit as we are in the process of during the open season processing these shrimp. That put us over the limit. We have every opportunity in my opinion to process the last pot according to your uh anecdotal and uh subjective interpretation. Okay. Okay. So, what you're claiming is the last pot in an open season that we pulled and photo stamped and so Scott photographed. No, there's just let me finish. I allowed you to talk. No, this is fine. But this isn't it's not a court. We're not having a a I want to have some discussion captured, sir. So, I'm seeking my observations as part of the record. Okay. I've got you blushing. I put you on the spot. If you're upset, I can give you a minute to maybe catch your breath. Yeah. Scott, the last pot here in the front of the vessel, this one blackie, we'll call it, is the pot in question that we were processing when you inadvertently said, "Quit throwing whole shrimp over when we were processing heads." So, with that said, uh I need my information back and any citations that you're going to issue and wish you all a wonderful day. Okay. Thank you. So, what we'll do, like you said, we have your information we'll we'll provide to you. We're going to issue uh tickets through the mail. They'll be coming through the mail. Okay. We're going to go ahead and articulate like what we have. So, we're going to talk that over and figure out exactly what we have. But again, we have we ended up having an extra over 400 shrimp. Okay. Yeah. The last pot. All right. So, um, with that being said, did you want did you want to prov do you want to say anything regarding what happened? There were other people that watched you guys out there today. So, no. Okay. You had nothing else to provide for us today? No. Other than what you see. Okay. Okay. All right. Steve, um, yeah. Did you have anything to provide today? How many shrimp did you harvest or did you participate in this today? harvested 80 shrimp. Okay. All right, guys. So, like I said, Scott, as far as addresses and everything, um, let me just confirm people's addresses. My license is accurate. One, as I stated for the record, my address is correct. Okay. All right. Low one Snomish. Yes, sir. Okay. And Stephen 41 in Arlington. You got it. Okay. And then guys, phone numbers. Best phone numbers to reach you at. We'll go ahead and we'll start with you. Well, 360. Yeah. One second. All right. Level cell phone number. Yep. 360. Curtis, what's a good cell phone number for you? I'm going to respectfully request that or deny that request. It's not under RCW. and Stephen 360 460. Yes. Okay. And then also guys, as far as the buoys that were used, if we can see those, I see those, but if you can hold those up, so we can see buoy. So, we got this one with your name on it. Thank you. And there's another one up here if we can see that as well. [Music] Okay, thank you very much. And then was there any other buoys or that one Scott right there? Okay, thank you. And then this one right here. Okay, thank you. And then this one that was the reason that kind of caught my eye is this one is supposed to have the yellow yellow marker, but was that one just faded? Is that what we got? What? Faded peeling. It's not yellow. Yellow flag. Yellow buoy. Yeah, it actually says yellow buoy is what it says. That's why I'm asking. Thank you. Yeah, appreciate it. So, that one would not qualify. It's not a yellow buoy, guys. Um, okay. Any other questions? No. Okay. So, we'll go ahead and pass the IDs back. Does your ID for just a fishing license? Just a fishing license. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Then here's our shrimp. There you go. And how many did our last pot have? You said what was the official count? The official count for the total shrimp. The total shrimp is what we had. Yeah. On the boat. That was That's what's important. So, okay. So, total on the boat cuz I did hear you uh miss a a state in the record will reflect this. 280 is what you're giving back. That's what you said you were giving back. Uh 240. 240. 80. 80 per person. That's what I thought, but I just wanted to clarify. I did hear the word 280 come from in officers. No, you had 682 total on both. So, this last one here is the one. Yeah. So, you had 680 and maybe that's where you heard the 80 and then I saw two more additionally in here in your bay pot. So, I Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's something else we'd like the record to reflect is we did pull some that were buried within the line. Okay. That were counted as well. So, Okay. Buried in the line. All right. All right. The ones that we step on count too. Are they in your possession? Are they? Yes. Are they in your possession, Scott? Well, I just wanted to have the record clarify if Well, are they on Are they smash beyond recognition? Okay. All right. Thank you, Scott. Uh-huh. Uh, I do have a question. Absolutely. Yeah. Uh, so you said we're getting citations by mail. Yes, correct. When should we see them? They should come in next week. Okay. Yeah, it's Friday, so they'd be next week sometime. Okay. Yeah. Are they going to send those certified? No, they will come. Well, they'll come through the courts. Okay. It's not a certified letter, I don't believe. All right. Thank you guys. All right. Thank you. In the end, the individuals were found to have 680 shrimp on board their vessel, 440 over the legal limit. All three were issued citations. Curtis, the individual recording officers, had a two-day jury trial before a guilty verdict was reached. He was sentenced to 30 days of house arrest. The outcome for the others is unknown at this time. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to Arrest Cam. As always, thanks for watching.
