If you like fish and wildlife content, be sure to subscribe so to miss out on future videos. This video is a little different than what we normally post, but showcases some of the other work these officers do. A fish and wildlife officer with Alaska State Troopers responded to a call in reference to a small passenger plane crashing on a nearby runway. Hey guys. So ambulance. >> Yeah. So no reported injuries or minimal if any. >> Okay. I don't think any transport at all. >> Single occupant. >> Double. >> Double. Okay. >> Gotcha. Okay. Well, that's unfortunate. >> Yeah. All right. Well, I'll wait till they're done with them in there. So, >> yeah. So, we're just going to got to wait till hazmat gets here for the fuel leak, but he's got 30 gallons on board. So, >> Okay. Well, >> make sure it stays where it's at. >> All right. Do we have any witnesses on the ground here at all? >> Uh, what? There was a lady that flew over after it happened. Those guys said they heard it happened, never saw it, >> but she's getting ready to take back off and head back to >> Okay, I'll talk to them, too, and get some photos. So, cool. Thanks. >> I was I was literally here like 45 minutes ago. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. hanging out talking to somebody and I took off. So >> yeah, >> there was guy in Helio Courier doing touch and goes. Were you doing touch and goes? >> Uh yes. >> No, we were doing stop. Yeah. Well, >> you were doing training. >> Yep. >> Yeah. Okay. Who was at the stick? >> Oh, was that the stick? >> Stick. Okay. >> Yep. >> Gotcha. All right. And um Oh, bumps and bruises. >> Bruises. Bumps. Nothing major. >> Okay. Gotcha. All right. Well, fortunate, I suppose. >> Yeah. live in the aircraft area. You guys are the owners. >> Yeah, >> okay. Gotcha. And both of your pilots? >> Yes. >> All right. Um well, yeah, this went as I mean, as far as crashes go, it went as well as as anybody else witnessed to it that you know of? >> Um, not that. No, I don't think so. >> Man, I'm sorry this happened. That's >> all right. Like you said, best case scenario, >> right? Everything could have been a lot worse. >> Yeah. Well, I know we're all just This all just happened, but we got to make a plan to get it out of here and all that stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, >> I'm not sure if you're familiar with the procedures for like calling NTSB and FAA. Do you know what the next steps are for that? >> Um, I I'll go ahead and notify them. Okay. >> Um, so I'll give them all the details and I'll give them your guys' information and kind of let them know what the gist of it is. >> Okay. Um, >> and I'm assuming we >> Yeah. What's next in terms of moving it? Do we need to call our insurance to get it going or? >> Uh, that would be first step, I think, is talk to insurance and see. I mean, it's it's it's a hazard. So, state aviation or the the tower will have to let everybody know and, you know, put a temporary hazard over over the strip. Okay. >> Um but uh yeah, then contact insurance and >> um the uh NTSB guy uh when they do contact probably would have the best >> routes for you to go on that. >> Okay, that sounds good. >> Anything else significant about the aircraft? Uh as far as any any issues or anything like that or >> No issues with it. I mean, it's new to us. We'll have it for probably about a week at this place. >> Oh, gotcha. Okay. How long you been flying? Uh, I've been flying for about 3 years now. He's been flying for probably about eight years. >> Okay. So, so >> relatively experienced. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Did you have super cup before? >> Nope. So, we're new to this type of airplane. Um, he's got a bunch of tail wheel hours, but not in a super cup. So, >> okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Uh, yeah. Now, it's a matter of just figuring out how to get this thing out of here. >> Yeah. Um, so I'll hop in my truck and go ahead and uh and notify the FAA and TSP guys that this occurred. Um, I'll give them your guys's information. This uh I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. I presume hard landing and it gave a bounce and then kind of looped or uh >> it was we were getting a little directional misalign and then hit the brakes a little too hard and so then it flipped. >> Gotcha. Okay. Yep. So yeah, just was on landing and nosed it over. Yep. >> Um, yeah, it's unfortunate. It's not in the winter time when these happen, sometimes uh sometimes the plane comes out a lot better, but >> Oh, yeah. It's a little bumper the snow. >> Yeah. Yeah. But that's that's not the case with this one. So, >> yeah. This is where you >> Okay. As far as getting it out of here, that's that's on you guys one way or the other. Yeah. >> So whether it's a lift or whether it's got to come the >> you know I know the uh there's some helicopter companies that'll that'll haul it out or you can take the wings off and trailer it. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Do you think >> uh we just probably start with insurance? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. We should start with insurance. But um I guess for right now cuz I want to unblock the runway. Do you think we can get it flipped back over and then do it on? Let me get a hold of FA and TSB and then yeah, once once we get to that, if if we're able to get a rope on it or something and flip the thing back over, then >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And we'll just roll it over there. So, >> okay. Give me a few minutes and we'll get that going. Mhm. >> All right. And you guys are good with this, right? Okay. Just so we make sure so that when my boss asks and says, "Hey, uh, I just saw a video of you p flipping over an airplane." >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> They're going to put a pickup truck from the back side. >> Okay. >> Okay. Yep. >> Mhm. Yeah. And then really just people on the ends of the wings. >> Yep. >> Um, >> yeah. They'll be off the ground. >> They'll be off the ground quite a bit. And we'll just need just Yeah. the stabilization that way. Just don't worry. I hope it comes up and doesn't just drag. >> Right. So, hopefully those wedges will do their job. >> All right. Uh, somebody holler at me if I'm doing something wrong. Um, so we'll need we'll need probably bodies on each wing just stabilizing it. probably at least uh two each. If it starts to go, let it go. Um but should be >> Yeah, should be fine. >> Lift up on the tail, too. >> Yep. What's that? >> Well, I just like to give you some advice before you leave. >> By all means, go for it. >> Yeah. >> You're fully insured. >> Have you talked to them? >> We have not talked to them. >> Stop. Call them. >> Okay. >> Tell them what happened. The recovery is on them. That's part of your policy. That's what you pay for. They may want it flipped under their supervision. And if it's all good and fine, if you can make that call real quick. >> Yeah. The NTSB already gave their authorization, but yeah, that's fine. >> Yeah. Yeah. I just be if they're if they have anything they told >> they haven't. Yeah. if they have anything to say about the method of recovery and then they're like, "Oh, hey, we're not going to pay for this, that, and the other because we wanted it >> because we would have just brought a helicopter out, lifted it, you know, cuz you're going to you're going to do damage >> further by doing it without a helicopter, right?" >> So, >> okay. Yeah. No, it's that's fine as long >> I thought you guys had already talked to him. So, >> we left the right now. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> I mean, I wouldn't >> Was the plan to put this on floats? Yeah, we got the boat. >> Well, see what the insurance company says. >> If they want to do their own recovery, then we just got to make sure that this >> is clear for Yeah. drag it off. >> Well, we're not going to drag anywhere if the insurance company Yeah. >> doesn't doesn't want it moved. So, >> yeah. Sorry, guys. I thought they'd already talked to their insurance. So, but NTSB said move it. NTSB doesn't care. It's pretty obvious what happened. >> Yeah. Yeah. And that's that's why they're not that worried. Yeah. We've been I've been to a bunch of these. >> You guys are probably pretty bored now that Fish Creek is closed, huh? >> Not much going on. >> You know what? Fish Fish Creek can stay closed for all I care. >> You know, really, it's it's it's a lot of people and it's a lot of mud. We we the only violations we really have is folks that like I literally wait until they shut their tailgate and like like fixing to leave before I check their stuff >> and it's just folks not filling out their stuff. >> Oh, okay. Look like it was falling out. >> Um it's Yeah, it's those are really the the not filling out their their permit is the only issue we have. The like actual violations down on the creek itself, we don't have hardly any cuz everybody's sitting there staring at each other. If you're doing something wrong, somebody's going to tell you. >> We are. >> Yeah. >> Okay, cool. Well, then we'll go ahead and go for it. We're good. So, you guys going to lift up on the tail and so we can get something? >> Yeah. >> Yep. We got the two handles right there. Lift handles. >> Yeah. Two handles. This if you put any pressure on this, this will just pop. >> Yeah. So, yeah. The handles and then guide them. I don't know how far I'm going to be able to push on this handle. >> What's that? Yeah, I mean un unfortunately you can you can also go right here as well. This is structural, but this is just not structural. If you start pushing on this, it just push right through it and you'll punch through the fabric. So handle right here. Couple guys. So when it comes up, the wings don't run like that. And then also um we just got to watch and if it starts skidding forward cuz it'll that's never going to come tail up if it's >> No. If we can get enough lift to get it to tilt. If not, we'll >> go to plan >> vertical. Um if we can lock it down if at all possible. >> We've got it. Yeah, we we've got it strapped to the back of that. So we're >> I think we're good. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah, we need people on I need people on the edge of each wing. What do you think? >> Oh, it hopped over him. >> Just slid off the slid over. >> I'm going to have to lift the tail sometime. Mhm. >> Feel like I need to set it back down and readjust. >> Well, the other thing that we could do is get a rope about there, bring it on top of the plane, wrap around the the hub, and then pull tension that way. The whole plane will slide. We have rope around here going back underneath the plane that way. We still going to stick these wedges under though >> or something like that >> at least. I'm going to take the pre I'm going to take the pressure off and readjust so it's straight. Good. Okay. That a little that a little straighter. >> That's a little better. >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. So, now we have pressure on. >> Hopefully, it doesn't slide forward this time. >> All right, we're good. >> Okay. All right. Uh, we got pressure on that on that rope around the prop. >> Drag slightly, >> but it but it is anchored. Okay. The less slack we can pull, the better. >> Okay. You ready to lift? >> Yeah. As much as we can so it doesn't slide at all. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. We good now? Maybe. Get moving. >> Heads up. No. Ah. Well, we're farther off the strip now at least. >> I don't have another strap like that. >> We have one more rolled up back there. [Music] Yeah, just that that would be ideal. All right. Well, >> see how far I wish we were just off the air strip. Then we could just dig a hole for the nose. >> Yeah. and just poke it in there. >> I found a metal moving around too. >> Yeah. I just don't want I don't want to dig a hole in the middle of the strip. So, all right. I guess we still have pressure on the nose, so it should come over. Yeah. Let's Let's Let's move that truck right behind it. Yeah. Yeah. Do we have Do we have another rope going that direction, too? There we go. That's better. Do one on this side, too. Here. Tall guy taller than me. There we go. Okay. Wedges are under. Rope is under. Ropes on each side. Okay. You good? Okay. Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow. >> Okay. It's a good slow, slow, slow. Yep. >> Yeah. >> Do we we still have Let's see. >> Grab another piece of rope so we can just run out of leverage and those wheels are just going to go. Those wheels are just going to roll. >> Yeah. As soon as that nose comes up, the wheels are no matter what you do. >> We just need a guy on this rope and a guy on the strap just pulling down on it. >> The wheels and >> I'll bet 35s are going to roll right over those chalks. >> I don't think we have any choice. But >> I don't know. That was about as clean as it was going to be. I think >> you can uh you can take this to it over the wing and we can get an extension on this. Well, we don't need to. Why don't we take the strap and put it over the wing? >> You don't want to touch anything. That might work. All right. Should hurt. >> Let's put these behind him. >> Yeah. >> Hey, Sean, you're the owner. You can pull on this rope now. >> Oh, yeah. You don't need the truck anymore. >> No. Uh-uh. You can just tug it down. Oh, hang on. Hang on. Pull with you. Let's just pull straight down here. YEAH. There we go. Six. Okay.
