from a semi-truck on the tracks near San Antonio Texas and a freight train in California that obliterated a cat wheel loader to a woman in Iowa who rolled her car into the path of an oncoming train and incredible close-up footage of a crash during a government test here are our picks for the scariest train collisions and mistakes caught on camera Reading California is a small town in Shasta County about 162 Mi north of Sacramento it's home to about 95,000 people living along the Sacramento River the location is made reading the economic center of the Shasta Cascade region trains constantly come in and out on October 4th of 2023 a 25-year-old man from Washington got stuck while driving over the railroad tracks near breast laau way and just when things couldn't get any worse he heard the ominous sound of the incoming train according to police the driver tried desperately to move the truck but it wouldn't Butch he would have made it if not for the low clearance trailer he was pulling and the Caterpillar wheel loader he had on top the train sent the tractor flying into the crossing arm causing significant damage the train itself belonged to the Union Pacific Railroad for some reason nobody called to notify the railroad that a tractor was stuck on the tracks the driver didn't know until he came around the bend by then it was too late thankfully nobody got hurt during the crash the only damage was to the Train's front end and obviously the semi-truck the Collision did shut down the intersection for several days which was a major headache for the locals hawaa Iowa is a small city north of Ceder Rapids it's home to a few thousand people making it relatively safe and easy to patrol for the local police department when something does happen they can respond immediately on July 20th of 2022 two officers responded to a call near the train tracks in hawaa someone needed medical attention so our officers waited by the ambulance while EMTs did their thing that's when they heard a train leaning on its horn they didn't think anything of it until they saw a white car rolling toward the [Music] tracks hey 47 we have a Pi Pi car versus train [Music] this is unrelated to our call this is something that happened in front of us County just stay back everybody get back by some miracle the 50-year-old woman behind the wheel only suffered minor injuries she was taken to the hospital where she made a full recovery she's lucky police and paramedics were literally down the street police believe alcohol may have been involved in some way how else could something like this happen she likely fell asleep behind the wheel and rolled over the tracks at the worst possible moment in the age-old Battle of train versus car the train always wins have you ever wondered how the government spends your tax dollars what if we told you the Department of Transportation likes to spend that money by crashing trains into log trucks obviously they do it in the name of driver safety as we've seen plenty of semi trucks get stuck on train tracks the dot wants to ensure train operators are kept safe during a collision so in the early 2000s the do asked what would happen if a train traveling at 50 mph T-boned a fully loaded log truck well this would happen the train Cuts Like a Knife through butter and if you thought that was cool wait until you see it in slow motion the logs fly like splintered popsicle sticks it's incredible how little the truck moves after being struck by a 50 mph train the rear angle is cool but it's basically what we've already seen wait until you see the top down the train blasts s through the logs effortlessly it never shakes or rattles meaning it can withstand the impact without derailing the dot also determined that the crew inside the lead car would be perfectly safe for the next test the do wanted to see what would happen if a train crashed head-on into stationary box cars their test footage doesn't disappoint the Train's forward momentum carries it up and over the stationary car let's check that out again in slow motion the speeding train crushes the rear car its front grill acts like a ramp propelling the train up instead of off to the side the entire front car almost makes it over before the train finally stops the do's final report doesn't clarify the damage inside the speeding train judging by this impact we don't think the test dummy was having a good time cilo Texas is a small City Northeast of San Antonio they owe their existence to the Southern Pacific Railroad which cut through the area on route to major cities like San Antonio and Houston the train tracks certainly giveth but they also taketh away on February 25th of 2020 a semi Tru was driving through celo and it got stuck on the elevated train tracks try as he might the driver couldn't get the truck to budge he ran away at the last second as an oncoming train obliterated his big rig this truck got stuck on the railroad road now the railroad things are coming here he comes [Laughter] oh oh that's why you Crossings holy W on a good note I needed to make a a ride up here and he just cleared that for me so I can keep going to work thanks to Google Earth we can look from the opposite side of the tracks notice how steep the road gets as it goes over the tracks cars can clear it without issue in fact the cab of the semi TR cleared it just fine it's the middle section that gave him trouble it bottomed out on the track tracks making it impossible to move the truck thankfully both the train and truck driver were okay now it's hard to determine who's at fault here if we had to guess the truck driver was just following his GPS route he didn't know the tracks were too high for his rig now some steep Crossings like this one have signs posted prohibiting tractor trailers from Crossing however playing around on Google Earth it doesn't look like any of those signs exist here maybe they should consider installing one egginton is a tiny village in Nottingham Shire England it's a quiet little Hollow home to only a few hundred people but in October of 2017 they made headlines around the UK a railroad crew was working on the tracks east of egginton on October 5th of 2017 they had no idea that a high-speed train was barreling right for them the engineer laid on the horn but none of the workers moved it wasn't until the last second that any of them got out of the way it was around 11:22 a.m. our passenger train was traveling at 125 mph down the East Coast Main Line the engineer saw the workers ahead and tried blowing his horn to warn them he sounded a series of warning horns when they didn't move but that still didn't work this was about to end badly so our driver pulled the emergency break he knew the train would never stop in time but it might buy the workers an extra second to move luckily with 3 seconds to spare the workers darted off the tracks as the train raced by a report found that the person in charge or the pic had cut several safety related Corners to make a long story short he skimped on safety to get the job done faster he's lucky one of the men saw the train coming and alerted his co-workers saving a little time and money is never worth the whole crew's life Windgate North Carolina has a problem with train crashes in January of 2023 two semi-rs got stuck on the tracks and were struck by oncoming trains one is a random occurrence two is a coincidence three times and we have a problem on June 8th of 2023 a third semi got stuck on the tracks near Windgate University it was hauling a trailer full of bricks when it tried to drive over the elevated tracks one of the gears got caught and nothing could get the truck unstuck nothing other than a speeding train W yo yo according to reports our truck drivers were arrested after police found open alcohol containers and drug paraphernalia in the car one local who heard the crash said it sounded like thunder outside her tattoo parlor she had been there about 5 years and had seen about 15 trucks get stuck on those tracks at this point how has nobody done anything about it well that might be because raising the road is the only way to solve the problem it would cost about a million dollar and cause massive traffic headaches while the cruise worked a simple no trucks allowed sign might also do the trick Greer South Carolina is a small City split between Greenville and Spartanburg counties back in October of 2007 a woman named Betsy was lost on her way to a friend's house this was before smartphones were really popular so it's not like she could have just punched it into the GPS she arrived at a railroad crossing shortly after midnight while on the phone with her friend she took what she thought was a left turn her car wound up stuck on the tracks lucky for her Sergeant mark o Shields was driving by and saw her panicking it took some convincing but he finally got her out of the car lucky for them it was in the nick of [Music] time ma' come on get back come on get back I get back come on thank you [Music] nobody in my [Music] car the ground gravityy of the situation didn't hit Betsy until she watched her car explode into a million tiny pieces the Amtrak train was going about 72 mph when it struck her vehicle Betsy's tiny car burst into flames all she could do was cry and thank Sergeant o shields for saving her the train was on route from New Orleans to New York City there were 180 passengers on board but only three suffered minor injuries Betsy may have lost her car but she owed Sergeant o Shields her life clno Poland is a tiny village in quadco County it's home to a handful of farmers so it's not uncommon to see tractors on the road but just because you drive a tractor doesn't mean you can ignore the rules this impatient man decided railroad crossing arms didn't apply to him it was August 14th of 20122 our farmer was hauling a small wagon when he came upon the lowered Crossing arms he must have been on a life or death Mission he didn't have 30 seconds to wait for the oncoming train the arms are clearly down as our farmer arrives it's at this moment that he decides to do something foolish he cuts around the arm trying to beat the train but he pulls off at the last second the train rips by nearly taking out the front of his tractor farmer Jim would have been toast if he had driven over those tracks his trailer gets stuck on the arm which may have saved his life but now our impatient farmer can't get it unstuck he calls a woman over who likely witnessed the whole thing she holds the arm up while he carries on like nothing ever happened meanwhile this poor woman is left traumatized by what she just saw hopefully farmer Jim learned his lesson next time he might not be so [Music] lucky what's worse than one train derailment how about two train derailments on March 8th of 2013 a group of Brazilian workers arrived to clean up the scene of a recent train accident from what we can gather several cars disconnected and fell sideways off the tracks someone had the bright idea of using the remaining cars like a tow truck let's see if that works in their favor so what do you do now do you get another train and try again it's unclear what caused the first derailment maybe this was some endless loop of trains falling over while trying to tow other trains you might say this plan derailed rather quickly Luchi Florida is a small town in Pasco County about 46 Mi north of Tampa it's home to over a thousand people and a new driver who made the worst mistake of her Young Life on July 30th of 2018 our driver accidentally collided with a police SUV outside Sam's quickmart on State Route 575 unfortunately the crash happened near the train tracks the nose of her car stopped on the tracks while the police SUV rolled off to the side nobody was seriously injured but the worst was yet to come another officer arrived to check on the driver and his injured partner that's when he noticed the van stopped on the tracks he told the woman to move her car but something was wrong with the engine it wouldn't start that's when they heard the rumble of an approaching train our officer tries to make the conductor slow down to the conductor he probably looks like a crazy person in the middle of the tracks he would never even know it's a police officer unfortunately our officer's back is turned when the train Roars through but you don't need to see the impact to know it was bad just listen to how it sounds thankfully the train didn't derail and there were no serious injuries the police cited our driver for crashing into the officer as for getting stuck on the tracks the police called it bad luck if you enjoyed this video and want to see another just like it be sure to click the link on screen now with that thanks for watching and be sure to tune in next time [Music]
